what is up everyone welcome or welcome back to my channel today let's talk about audiobooks so if you are new here hello my name is andy welcome to it i make videos about books and other things also on my channel welcome if you're back as a subscriber today i wanted to make my i think first video on audiobooks on my channel because i feel like i don't talk about them often enough and if you're not sure about audiobooks i could tell you that i highly highly believe in them and the reason why i wanted to make this video today is specifically to recommend my personal favorite audiobooks and also talk about the great narrators behind these audiobooks because we talk a lot about the authors and obviously like they're the creators of these amazing stories we read or listen to but when you listen to an audiobook there's actually a narrator that's doing a crazy hard job which is to narrate the book and to provide you with a performance that's really gonna immerse you in the book so i wanted to give a shout out to these people today and instead of just recommending you the audiobooks i want to tell you who's the narrators behind them so we have 14 audiobooks to talk about today the seven first ones will be my personal favorite and also i made a list of seven other ones that are narrated by celebrities or very well known uh personalities that you might enjoy and that i personally want to get to without further ado let's jump into it okay so let's start with my personal favorite audiobooks that i highly recommend to anyone these are not in any particular order um but i am starting with one that is in my opinion one of the most impressive audio books i've ever read which is daisy jones and six by taylor jenkins read now for this specific video i do want to tell you all about the narrators behind the books but for that specific one there is a cast of i believe 21 narrators which is absolutely bonkers so i will leave all of their names here but these are the 21 narrators behind daisy jones and the six so if you don't know anything about this book i feel like it's a bit unlikely because this book is highly highly popular in this fictional story daisy jones and the six was a very very popular band back in the 70s and they split and nobody really knows why and for the very first time they are telling their story told in interview form the whole time the audiobook was amazing you were feeling like you're watching a movie almost even though you didn't have any picture because you could really differentiate each of the characters by their own voice you know so my first recommendation definitely goes to daisy jones and six if you haven't checked it out i highly recommend doing the audiobook first okay so the second audiobook i have to recommend for you is the devil in the dark water by stewart thurton this one is narrated by english actor julian rind this is actually a book that i decided to read physically and listen to the audiobook at the same time because this is a very i would say like english or even dutch inspired story and there were a lot of words that i didn't really understand or even names or character names that i didn't really know how to pronounce if you don't know anything about this book it is stuart turton's second book so he is the author of the seventh of evelyn hardcastle which i really really enjoyed and basically it follows a group of characters that are going on this ship in the 1600s so they're boarding the ship to go to amsterdam and while they are on the ship some devilish things start occurring and they basically believe that the devil is on the boat i know this book is considered to be a bit average especially on goodreads i personally found it good but the audiobook is amazing the narrator did a really really good job i would tend to say that i like the book even more because of the audiobook i'm sure if i would have read this physically only i wouldn't have enjoyed it as much the third audiobook i wanted to recommend to you is the chain by adrian mckinty this one is narrated by january lavoy this is a great thriller honestly that's another one that i don't even know if i would have enjoyed as much would i not have listened to the audiobook so this book basically follows a mother and at some point she receives a call from a very distressed woman telling her that she has kidnapped her daughter and what she tells her is that she is now part of the chain if she wants to see her daughter back she will have to do two things she will have to pay a ransom to a you know random bank account but she will also have to kidnap another kid and call the parents of that kid and so that they could do the same thing and then make another parent do the same thing and so goes the chain so this book is great at making you question like what would you do if you were in that situation you know what would you do if you had to save your kid would you be able to do that crazy thing to another parent just to save your own kid it was a great thriller in my opinion but the narrator of this book oh my god like basically she really played you know the the mother right and she was so distressed she was so anxious you could really really tell that she would have done everything she could to save her daughter if you enjoy thrillers i highly recommend this book it's gonna keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time okay so the next book i have to recommend is one of my favorite books of all time and this one i've only listened to it on audio and that is the house in the cerulean sea by tj cloon this one is narrated by the amazing daniel henning and oh my god do i recommend picking up the audiobook for that one i'm surprised because this would have been a great book pick for a full cast audiobook but the narrator that they picked was just too good he didn't even need anyone else he could make all of these different voices by himself and he is amazing so if you don't know anything about this book it basically follows our main character lionel baker he is a care worker at the department of magical youth and basically he gets sent on a task one day to go see that orphanage that's located on a very seclusive island and he is told that six magical children live there with a very weird caretaker and he basically has to go there to figure out if the children are treating right and all that stuff um so lionel baker is a very solitary character he doesn't really have any friends or relatives and he's going to go there and he's going to form a bond with these characters i would consider this to be a low fantasy book meaning that it's a fantastical representation of our own world i know that if you read the goodreads synopsis you will see how these kids are magical personally i would highly recommend going into it blind not knowing and kind of discovering the magic of these children as you go but i can tell you that the narrator that narrated all of these special children did such a good job if you have read the book and you haven't listened to the audiobook and you remember chauncey oh my god every time you would marry chauncey i would i would laugh i would i would be so happy because he did such a good job it's really hard to explain why if you haven't read the book but once again if this is a book that interests you and it should because it's one of the highest rated books on goodreads and everybody talks about it on booktube i really highly recommend picking up the audiobook or at least like doing half and half half audio and half physical you will not regret it okay the next audiobook i wanted to recommend you is six of crows by leigh bardugo this is another one that has a full cast of narrators so i will leave all of their names uh on the screen this has seven narrators five of the crows are narrated and we also have juice and pekka rollins that's narrative by an individual narrator which is kind of like surprising i feel like i don't really have to talk about six of crows like a lot of people know about it this is part of the grishaverse so the same world as the shadow and bone trilogy or you might have seen the show also and this follows a heist with these six characters another audiobook that i would recommend would be i would say the whole trilogy of the infernal devices by cassandra clare um but i wanted to be very specific with one of the books and it is book two which is a clockwork angel the book is narrated by two people we have heather lind who's doing uh tessa she's basically the female narrator and ed westwick which has really won my heart as chuck bass from gossip girl when i was like 19 and i was like literally in love with him but ed westwick in this book narrates will and he did such a good job and i don't know if it's because i love will so much he's like a really well-loved character from this series if you want to listen to the whole trilogy on audio it kind of sucks because it's not the same narrators for each book which kind of surprised me but clock archangel i highly recommend that one as an audiobook and then the last audiobook i wanted to recommend you really really have to listen to it on audio you have no choice and it is the help by katherine stocking so this one has three narrators we have octavia spencer bonnie turpin and jenna lamaya so one thing that's really cool about this audiobook is that if you have watched the movie the help you would know that octavia spencer plays minnie jackson and minnie jackson is like the best character from this freaking story i swear to god she is hilarious and the fact that octavia spencer also narrated mini in the audiobook just makes everything better that character is just so consistent through like both of them because they're narrated and played by the same actress so if you don't know anything about this book i feel like it needs no introduction it's a pretty popular i would say a modern classic it follows a group of characters in 1960s mississippi namely white female rich characters that have black maids at home and basically it really follows the story of how these black mates were not necessarily treated very well and we have one white woman one character that decides one day that she wants to write the story of these black women and basically they're gonna go on a secret project to really write this book about their journey as the help it's really an amazing story it's such an empowering story and it's obviously unfortunate that while this is a fictional story it definitely depicts like the real oppression that these women lived back in the days this is really an amazing story but once again audiobook is the way to go for this one and i have to give a lot of credit to octavia spencer for that okay so these were my seven recommendations i'm gonna go a bit faster over the next seven audiobooks i wanted to talk about because some of these i have read the physical book but i have not listened to these audiobooks yet and this is basically a list of audiobooks that are narrated by very famous either celebrities or personalities or even by the own author so the first one that's on my list is definitely becoming by michelle obama so this is michelle obama's memoir apparently the audiobook is really really great because she is the one narrating it it's a lot more personal you know since obviously it's her own story the other one that's on my list is dear girls by ali wong so this is pretty much the same thing ali wong is a famous i would say actress and comedian and she wrote this book as a way to address letters to her daughters to tell her about i believe what's it like to be a woman in general another one that's on my list i have actually read the physical book it is one of my favorite books of all time and that is out of green gables but there is a version that is narrated by rachel mcadams which has like all of my heart she is one of my favorite actresses of all time while i don't plan on rereading this book anytime soon when i will pick it up again because i will i'm sure i will definitely go for the audiobook for this one another one that i would like to listen on audio is alice's adventures in wonderland because it is narrated by scarlett johansson i do like her as an actress obviously but i find that her voice is like so good i find that she has like one of the best voices in hollywood it's very very deep you know another one that i'd like to listen to on audiobook because this actress has such an amazing voice would be sense and sensibility from jane austen this one is narrated by rosamund pike um like i love her voice so much when i whenever i watch a movie with her i just i just love all of her characters and performances just because i feel like her voice is so deep another one that i have read already but i would like to pick up on audio is the color purple by alice walker this one is narrated by samira wiley so she was one of my favorite actresses from orange is the new black and then the last audiobook i would like to get to is dracula by bram stoker this one has a full cast that includes alan and tim curry dracula was not really like high on my priority list in terms of classics but a full cast for the audiobook could be pretty cool so that's another one on my list alrighty guys so that is it for my audiobook recommendations let me know down in the comments do you have any audiobooks that you feel like i should listen to did you listen to any of these audiobooks if so let me know down in
