david the servant of the lord who spoke to the lord the words of this song on the day that the lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul and he said I will love you O Lord my strength the Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer my God my strength in whom I will trust my shield and the Horn of my salvation my strong hope I will call upon the Lord who is worthy to be praised so shall I be saved from my enemies the pangs of death surrounded me and the floods of ungodliness made me afraid The Sorrows of Sheol surrounded me the snares of death confronted me in my distress I called upon the Lord and cried out to my god he heard my voice from his temple and my cry came before him even to his ears then the earth shook and trembled the foundations of the hills also quake and were shaken because he was angry smoke went up from his nostrils and devouring fire from his mouth coals were kindled by it he bowed the heavens so and came down with darkness under his feet and he rode upon a cherub and flew he flew upon the wings of the wind he made darkness his secret place his canopy around him was dark orders and clouds of the skies from the brightness before him his thick clouds passed with hail stones and coals of fire the Lord thundered from heaven and the most high uttered his horse hail stones and coals of fire he sent about his arrows and scattered the foam lightnings in abundance and he vanquished them then the channels of the sea were seen the foundations of the world were uncovered and your rebuke Oh Lord at the blast of the breath of your nostrils he sent from above he took me he drew me out of many waters he delivered me from my strong enemy from those who hated me but they were too stoned for me they confronted me the day of my calamity but the Lord was my support he also brought me out into a broad place he delivered me because he delighted in me the Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness according to the cleanness of my hands he has recompense me for I have kept the ways of the Lord and have not wickedly departed from my god for all his judgments were before me and I did not put away his statutes from me I was also blameless before him and I kept myself from my iniquity therefore the Lord has recommenced me according to my righteousness according to the cleanness of my hands in his sight with the merciful you will show yourself merciful with a blameless man you will show yourself blameless with the pure you will show yourself pure and with the devious he will show yourself shrewd or you will save the humble people but will bring down what he looks for you will light my lamp the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness or by you I can run against a troop by my god I can leap over a wall as for God his way is perfect the word of the Lord is proven he is a shield to all trust in him for who is God except the Lord and who is a rock except our God it is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect he makes my feet like the feet of deer and sets me on my high places he teaches my hands to make war so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze you have also given me the shield of your salvation your right hand has held me up your gentleness has made me great you enlarged my path under me so my feet did not slip I have pursued my enemies and overtaken them neither did I turn back again till they were destroyed I have wounded them so that they could not rise they have fallen under my feet for you have armed me with strength for the battle you have subdued under me those who rose up against me you have also given me the necks of my enemies so then I destroyed those who hated me they cried out but there was none to save even to the Lord but he did not answer them then I beat them as fine as the dust before the wind I cast them out like dirt in the streets you have delivered me from the strivings of the people you have made me the head of the nations of people I have not known shall serve me as soon as they hear of me they obey me the foreigners submit to me the foreigners fade away and come frightened from their highness the Lord lives blessed be my rock but upon us but we have not forgotten you nor have we dealt falsely with your covenant our heart has not turned back nor have our steps departed from your way but you have severely broken us in the place of jackals and covered us with the shadow of death if we had forgotten the name of our God or stretched out our hands to a foreign God would not God search this out for he knows the secrets of the heart yet for your sake we are killed all day long we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter awake why do you sleep oh Lord arise do not cast us off forever why do you hide your face and forget our shall speak wisdom and the meditation of my heart shall give understanding I will incline my ear to a proverb I will disclose my dark saying on the heart why should I fear in the days of evil when the iniquity at my heel surrounds me those who trust in their wealth and boast in the multitude of their riches none of them and by any means redeem his brother nor give to God a ransom for him for the redemption of their souls is costly and it shall cease forever that he should continue to live eternally and not see the pit where he sees wise men die likewise the fool and the senseless person perish and leave their wealth to others their inner thought is that their houses will last forever their dwelling places to all generations they call their lands after their own names nevertheless man feed on them the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning and their beauty shall be consumed in the grave far from their dwelling but God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave and a contrite heart these Oh God you will not despise you put in your good pleasure to Zion build the walls of Jerusalem then you shall be pleased with sacrifices of righteousness with burnt offering and whole Birds offering then they shall offer Bulls on your altar Psalm 52 to the chief musician a contemplation of David when the egg the Edomite wenton told Saul and said to him David has gone to heart there is no God they are corrupt and have done abominable iniquity there is none who does good God looks down from heaven upon the children of men to see if there are any who understand who seek God every one of them has turned aside they have together become corrupt there is none who does good no not one if the workers of iniquity no knowledge who eat up my people as they eat bread and do not call them all God there they are in great fear when no fear was for God has scattered the bones of him when camps against you you have put them to shame because God has despised him oh that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion when God brings back the captivity of his people let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad psalm 54 to the chief musician with stringed instruments a contemplation of david when the ZIF Ides went and said to Saul is David not hiding with us save me O God by your name and vindicate me by your strength hear my prayer O God if ear to the words of my mouth or strangers have been risen up against me and oppressors have sought after my life they have not set God before them behold God is my helper the Lord is with those who uphold my life he will repay my enemies for their evil cut them off in your truth I will freely sacrifice to you I will praise your name o Lord for it is good for he has delivered me out of all trouble and my eye has seen its desire upon my enemies Psalm 55 - the chief musician with stringed instruments a contemplation of David give ear to my prayer Oh God and do not hide yourself from my supplication attend to me and hear me I am Restless in my complaint and moan noisily because of the voice of the enemy because of the oppression of the wicked they bring down trouble upon me and in Wrath they hate me my heart is severely pained within me and the terrors of death have fallen upon me fearfulness and trembling have come upon me and horror has overwhelmed me so I said oh that I had wings like a dove I would fly away and be at rest indeed I would wander far off and remain in the wilderness I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest destroy Oh Lord and divide their tongues for I have seen violence and strife in the city day and night they go around it on its walls iniquity and trouble are also in the midst of destruction is in its midst oppression and deceit do not depart from its streets for it is not an enemy who reproach me I could bear it nor is it one who hates me who has exalted himself against me then I could hide from him but it was you a man by equal my companion and my acquaintance we took sweet counsel together and walked to the house of God in the throne let death seize them let them go down alive into hell for wickedness is in their dwellings and among them as for me I will call upon God and the Lord shall save me evening and morning and at noon I will pray and cry aloud and he shall hear my voice he has redeemed my soul in peace from the battle that was against me for there were many against me God will hear and afflict them even he who abides from of old because they do not change therefore they do not fear God he has put forth his hands against those who were at peace with him he has broken his covenant the words of his mouth were smoother and but war was in his heart his words were softer than oil yet they were drawn swords cast your burden on the Lord and he shall sustain you he shall never permit the righteous to be moved but you O God shall bring them down to the pace of destruction bloodthirsty and deceitful man shall not live out half their days but my will trust in you [Music] Psalm 56 to the chief musician said to a silent dove in distant lands amick time of David when the Philistines captured him in Gath be merciful to me O will praise His Word in God I have put my trust I will not fear what in flesh do to me all day they twist my words all their thoughts are against me for evil they gather together they hide he marked my steps when they lie and wait for my life shall they escaped by iniquity in anger cast down the people's oh God you number my wanderings put my tears into your bottle are they not in your book when I cry out to you then my enemies will turn back this I know because God is for me in God I will praise His Word in the Lord I will praise His Word in God I have put my trust I will not be afraid what can man do to me those made to you are binding upon me O God I will render praises to you for you have delivered my soul from death have you not kept my feet from falling that I may walk before God in the light of the living [Music] Psalm 57 to the chief musician said to do not destroy a make time of David when he fled from soul into the cave be merciful to me O God be merciful to me for my soul save me he reproaches the one who would swallow me up God shall send forth his mercy and his truth my soul is among lions I lie among the sons of men who are set on fire whose teeth are Spears and arrows and a tongue a sharp sword baton suited Oh God the heavens let your glory be above all the earth they have prepared and yet for my steps my soul is bound down they have dug a pit before me into the midst of it they themselves have fallen my heart is steadfast Oh God my heart is steadfast I will see and give praise awake my glory awake root and heart I will awaken the dawn I will praise you O Lord among the peoples I will sing to you among the nations for your mercy reaches unto the heavens and your truth unto the clouds be exalted O God above the heavens let your glory be above all the serpent they are like a deaf Cobra that stamps its ear which will not heed the voice of charmers charming ever so skilfully break their teeth and their mouth or God break out the fangs of the young lions Oh Lord let them flow away as waters which run continually when he bends his bow let his arrows be as if cut in pieces that would be like a snail which melts away as it goes like a stillborn child of a woman but they may not see the Sun before your parts can feel the burning thorns he so take them away as with a whirlwind as in his living and burning wrath the righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked so that men will say surely there is a reward for the righteous surely he is God who judges in the earth [Music] [Music] some the cursing and lying which they speak consume them in Wrath consume them that they may not be and let them know that God rules in Jacob to the ends of the earth and that evening they return a ground like a dog and go all around the city they wander up and down for food and howl if they are not satisfied but I will sing of your power yes I will sing aloud of your mercy in the morning for you have been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble to you o my strength I will sing praises for God is my defense my God of mercy Psalm 62 the chief musician said to Lily of the testimony a make town places the God of Israel is he who gives strength and power to his people blessed be God Psalm 69 to the chief musician said to the lilies a psalm of David save me O God for the waters have come up to my neck I sink in deeper mire where there is no standing I have come into deep waters but the floods overflow me I am weary with am i crying my throat is dry my eyes fail while I wait for my god those who hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head their mighty who would destroy me paying my enemies wrongfully though I have stolen nothing I still must restore it Oh God you know my foolishness and my sins are not hidden from you let not those who wait for you O Lord God of hosts be ashamed because of me but not those who seek you be confounded because of me Oh God of Israel it comes from your sake I have borne reproach shame has covered my face I have become a stranger to my brothers and an alien to my mother's children because zeal for your house has eaten me up and the reproaches of those who reproach you and fallen on me when I wept and chastened my soul with fasting that became my reproach I also made sackcloth my garment I became a byword to them those who sit in gate speak against me and I am the son of the drunkards but as for me my prayer is to you O Lord in the acceptable time o God in the multitude of your mercy hear me in the truth of your salvation deliver me out of the mire and let me not sink let me be delivered from those who hate me and out of the deep waters let not the flood water overflow me nor let the deep swallow me up and let not the pit shut into mouth on me hear me o lord for your loving-kindness is good turn to me according to the multitude of your tender mercies and do not hide your face from your servant for I am in trouble hear me speedily draw near to my soul and redeem it deliver me because of my enemies you know my reproach my shame and my dishonor my adversaries are all before you reproach has broken my heart and I am full of heaviness I looked for someone to take pity but there was none and for comforters but I found none they also gave me golf for my food and for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink let their table become a snare before them and their well-being trap let their eyes be darkened so that they do not see and make their loins shake continually pour out your indignation upon them and let your wrathful anger take hold of them let their dwelling place be deathless let no one live in their tents for they persecute the ones you have struck and talked of the grief of those you have wounded add iniquity to their iniquity and let them not come into your righteousness let them be blotted out of the book of the living and not be written with the righteous but I am poor and sorrowful let your salvation O God set me up on I I will praise the name of God with a song and will magnify him with Thanksgiving this also shall please the Lord better than an ox or bull which has horns and hooves the humble shall see this and be glad and you who seek God your hearts shall live for the Lord hears the poor and does not despise his prisoners let heaven and earth praise Him a cease and everything that moves in them for God will save Zion and build the cities of Judah that they may dwell there and possess it also the descendants of his servants shall inherit it and those who love his lie in wait for my life take counsel together saying God has forsaken him pursue and take him where there is none to deliver him Oh God do not be far from me oh my god make haste to help me let them be confounded and consumed who are adversaries of my life let them be covered with reproach and dishonor who seek my hurt but I will hope continually and will praise you yet more and more my mouth shall tell of your righteousness and your salvation all the day or I do not know their limits I will go in the strength of the Lord God I will make mention of your righteousness of yours only Oh God you have taught me from my youth to this day I declare your wondrous works now also when I am old and grey-headed Oh God do not forsake me until I declare your strength to this generation your power his name shall continue as long as the Sun and men shall be blessed all nations shall call him blessed blessed be the Lord God the God of Israel who only does wondrous thing and blessed be his glorious name never and that the whole earth be filled with his glory on and the prayers of David son of Jesse our end [Music] Psalm 73 a psalm of Asaph truly God is good to Israel to such as our pure in heart but as for me my feet had almost stumbled my steps that nearly slipped where I was envious of the boastful when I saw the prosperity of the wicked well there are no pangs in their death but their strength is firm they are not in trouble as other men nor they played like other men there for pride that serves as their necklace violence covers them like a garment their eyes bulge with abundance they have more than heart that wish they scoff and speak wickedly concerning oppression they speak lawfully they set their mouth against the heavens and their tongue walks through the earth therefore his people return here and waters of a full cup are drained by them and they say how does God know and is their knowledge in the Most High behold these are the ungodly who are always at ease they increase in riches surely I have cleansed my heart in vain and washed my hands in innocence for all day long I have been plagued and chastened every morning if I had said I will speak thus behold I would have been untrue to the generation of your children when I thought how to understand this it was too painful for me until I went into the sanctuary of God then I understood their end surely you set them in Slippery places you cast them down to destruction oh how they are brought to desolation as in a moment they are utterly consumed with terrors as a dream when one wakes so Lord when you awake you shall despise their image thus my heart was grieved and I was vexed in my mind I was so foolish and ignorant that was like a beast before you nevertheless I'm continually with you you hold me by my right hand you will guide me with your counsel and afterward receive me to glory whom have I in heaven but you and there is none upon earth that I desire besides you my flesh and my heart fail but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever for indeed those who are far from you Shall Perish you have destroyed all those who desert you for harlotry but it is good for me to draw near to God I have put my trust in the Lord God that I may declare all your works Psalm 74 a contemplation of ASA Oh God why have you cast us off forever why does your anger smoke against the sheep of your pasture remember your congregation which you have purchased all the tribe of your inheritance which you have redeemed is Mount Zion where you have dwelt lift up your feet to the perpetual desolations the enemy has damaged everything in the sanctuary your enemy's roar in the midst of your meeting place they set up their banners for signs they seem like men who lift up axes among the thick trees and now they break down its carved work all at once with axes and hammers they have set fire to your sanctuary they have defiled the dwelling place of your name to the ground they said in their hearts let us destroy them all together they have burned up all the meeting places of God in the land we do not see our signs there is no longer any profit nor is there any among us who knows how long oh God how long will the adversary reproach will the enemy blaspheme your name forever why do you withdraw your hand even your right hand take it out of your bosom and destroy them for God is my king from of old working salvation in the midst of the earth you divided the sea by your strength you broke the heads of the sea serpents in the waters you broke the heads of Leviathan in pieces and gave him his food to the people inhabit in the wilderness you broke open the fountain and the blood you dried up mighty rivers the day is yours the night also is yours you have prepared the light and the Sun you have set all the borders of the earth you have made summer in winter remember this that the enemy has were approached the Lord and that are foolish people as blaspheme your name oh do not deliver the life of your Turtledove to the wild beasts do not forget the life of your poor forever have respect to the Covenant for the dark places of the earth are full of the haunts of cruelty oh do not let the oppressed returned ashamed let the poor and needy praise your name arise O God plead your own cause remember how the foolish man reproaches you daily do not forget the voice of your enemies the tumult of those who rise up against you increases continuing [Music] from 75 took a chief musician set to do not destroy a psalm of Asaph a song we give thanks to you O God we give thanks for your wondrous works declare that your name is near when I choose the proper time I will judge uprightly the earth and all its inhabitants are dissolved I set up its pillars firmly I said to the boastful do not deal boastfully and to the wicked do not lift up the horn do not lift up your horn on high do not speak with a stiff neck or exaltation comes neither from the east nor from the West nor from the south but God is the judge he puts down one and exalts another for in the hand of the Lord there is a cup and line is read it is fully mixed and He pours it out surely it's dregs shall all the wicked of the earth drain and drink down but I will declare forever I will sing praises to the God of Jacob all the horns of the wicked I will also cut off but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted [Music] audible hopes you have enjoyed this program you
