youtube channel and also welcome to flipping 400 to a ferrari today's a fun day and it's a little unconventional we're going to the auction with twenty thousand dollars i'm not going to the auction with two thousand dollars you're going to the auction with twenty thousand dollars german can do just about everything i can do and a lot you can do better than i can do so i'm gonna take you to the auction i'm gonna give you twenty thousand dollars the problem is with this ferrari flip it's easier to just do one car and focus on one car five cars is gonna take up your time from the rest of the business and that's why i've been focusing on just one car so today's video we're going to the auction the two of us and you and we're gonna try to figure out what we can buy for twenty thousand dollars and is it worth it how do we decide what the values are so here we have our tow rig here we have our brand new trailer we're gonna take him to the auction see what we can come up with the other thing is everybody's been asking what are we doing with this building well you'll see the parking's already filled because i went with your advice you remember what your advice was we get better i think we have like eight or nine cars for sale when we normally have like 35 to 40 cars it's crazy the market is incredibly volatile i have a whole bunch of videos on reasons why so i'm not going to get into it right now but do let me explain what it is we're doing today so our flipping 400 into a ferrari series we started with just an initial 400 bought a car cleaned a car fixed the car sold it bought two cars or more cars and we just kept rolling that original 400 investment into more expensive cars well we recently sold a 2019 cadillac xts4 which is unreal if you think about it this way we started with 400 six months ago and we just had a 2019 cadillac that was over 65 000 ish dollars in under six months that's pretty unreal so when owning a business you want to be able to replicate yourself i have a ton of things going on outside the dealership all kinds of people that are better at doing things than i am so you want to not just replicate yourself you want to replicate yourself with people that are better than you are you're significantly better at a lot of things than i am which is where you come into play well today we're going to the auction with 20 000 for you to spend and you're essentially getting a crash course as well as you on how the auction process works how i buy my cars what i look for now you already know what i look for when i go to the auction so you kind of already have an idea of things that are going to stand out things that already sell what you do need to work on is how much do we pay now they have things called a condition report when you look online you get a written condition report by the auction which tells you like what's the tread depth on the tires are there dents scratches smoke odors stuff like that but when you're at the auction you don't get a condition report you're doing your own condition report so you have to essentially do like a 30 second walk around of every car you're looking at and figure out what it's worth what you're willing to pay and if you're willing to pay more than somebody else there's a lot going on it's very high stress and it's why i don't take people to the auction with me when i go because it's just a lot going on and people get overwhelmed so we're gonna go to the auction i'll explain more when we get there so there's a couple things at the auctions 9 a.m they start with the no run cars so cars that don't actually run or have problems they list them at 9am to 9 30. so you got to be careful of what you're buying because if you haven't looked at it it could be an engine it could need a transmission but sometimes you can score some great deals that way 9 30 they start running heavy equipment and campers and motorcycles toys stuff like that so last week i was the high bidder on a 2015 camper that i want i was high bidder at 10 they wanted 15. i said no i said i go up to 12 they said no we're just going to run it next week i'm hoping reality kind of sets in and i'm a high bidder again and then i can get this camper so i i kind of gambled a little bit not paying what he wanted last week hoping i can get it for last this week and then after the heavy equipment runs through we have all the cars that we want to buy run through and once we get inside i'll explain how that works so here's the camper i want to buy today it's a 2015 coleman and they're real good the reason i want it i haven't even done a video on it so none of you guys even know the purpose of this i bought a house and it's an absolute nightmare if you remember the boat nightmare yeah i have that version of a house now it's going to be an entire terrible series but it's coming out soon anyway this camper is going to be my like sleeping quarters until the house is livable do we need a limo oh look at this interior why is it so tempting it could make some fun videos at least but otherwise what the heck would we do with it well i am getting married soon [Laughter] here's your wedding present so we could buy that have a hearse and a limousine though me being a dead man right now here's a whole other video too that really bums me out i gambled and lost so last week on that camper i was 10 grand high bidder at 10 grand i went up to 12. he said no he wants 15. i could have bought it for 15. high bid today was 15-2 or 15-3 and they didn't sell it it which really bums me out because i wanted to leave with that thing today i came here early for that all right let's go look at some cars okay so here's how it works there's a mathematical process and it's fairly simple you know what we like to buy you know what we like to look at the way the auction works is anything under 11 years old meaning it's 2021 so 2011 2012. anything older than 2012 is automatic red light red light is sold as is that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with it it just means that it has either over a hundred thousand miles or it's over nine years old essentially so anything under a hundred thousand miles or nine years and newer is green light which is great there are some limitations to it so like under 2 500 automatic red light stuff like that so if you look at the cars or barcodes we have apps on our phone you can open the app scan the vin there you go all right so now it will tell us mmr is essentially what they're selling for like what's the average in the last 30 days that these cars have sold for with 135 000 miles so you can change the mileage to 196 000. done and now it will reduce the price which tells you you should be paying around eighty eight thousand fifty dollars okay now i wanna be under that because we're gonna wholesale these cars meaning we're gonna clean them and sell them to other dealers for about that price so if we want to make a thousand or two thousand you look at the bad side obviously this thing is a disaster that's not taken into consideration in this price so we want how much is the bed gonna cost how much are tires gonna cost all those things have to be taken into consideration when you look at that price we want to be somewhere like 4 500 that way we can do the repairs to sell it for 8 000 all right let's move on now this right here will do it anything fun is bringing all the money though so plan on spending too much money on it [Laughter] and it's in a four speed the tough thing about this is we can't really put a value on it so you kind of have to do your research online like look up what they're selling for which it's such a rare truck it's really difficult to figure out what it's worth this on the other hand we know we can sell it's a 95 corvette convertible obviously it's a hot seller but there's a premium on corvettes right now meaning we're going to spend all the money but we will be able to sell it for all the money and we have a hard time and we have a hard top for it you're right it gets even better these c4 corvettes never come in standard transmission and this one is a standard so this is going to be a pretty good one with 62 000 miles now this truck right here i was just going to ask you what your strategy is this is a 15 with 200 000 miles now you know we have no problem selling high mileage trucks because it's a new body style that makes it affordable under 20 000 so with low miles we have a 15 denali with 125 000 miles 30 grand it's still unaffordable to a lot of people bump it up to 200 000 miles now we're under 20 grand this truck is now affordable to people and you can sell it with a warranty so they still feel covered now before you and i were chumming around you used to come here with another dealer and you were telling me you come here wednesdays tell me about that wednesday evenings we spent two hours two to three depending how many vehicles were out here like three looking at everything checking everything out driving them around the lot bringing them back so if we could come here the day before it would be ideal i have three kids and multiple jobs i just don't have the time for it so i try to get here early but even still after going to the gym and getting the kids to school it's still not that early so i end up rushing to the top where the cars are running through and then i'm like hunting around the car as quickly as i can which isn't as efficient and safe as it should be if you do it one week if you pre-look one wednesday you're gonna see the difference if you can make it on a wednesday you can take your time and really look at things make your list and write stuff down on a different note check out this 94 bronco that is completely rotted and it's still going to get all the money i bet broncos are huge right now the values are crazy and i bet it's still going to get all the money locked 94 174 000 completely rotted and i bet this thing still does four or five thousand dollars so what was your strategy what are you thinking um i'm thinking something safe and that's hot sellers you know i like the silverados those pickup trucks that like with the high miles that we just looked at yeah something like that that we know is gonna be a quick flip i'll tell you what i do well on and then i'm gonna put on my list what's that that sti right there this is right up my alley we do really well on these they're fun to drive the only problem with selling these things is you'll get a hundred kids that want to show up for test drives and eventually you fish through the one that mom and dad are gonna buy this car for them i looked at that sti thinking it was going to be around 20 to 22 because even last summer i was buying them for under 20 grand 16 17s with 40 50 000 miles we scanned that it showed up what was the price 2034. 23 for it and we overestimated the mileage so even though it says we should spend 23 on it i still am conservative and i don't spend what the book says i'm always trying to be under that number to keep us safe because we're in an over over-inflated market right now which means when the market drops we're gonna own too many cars that we overpaid for and we stuck with them so i still would rather be on the safe side which is i guess why i only bought two cars last week instead of the six or seven we normally get let's move on so wranglers are other ones that i'm thinking about because they have their value they keep their value wranglers are good and we own so many wranglers that it's easy to transition somebody from one wrangler to the other we can show them this is your move actually you can tell i don't have to do all the talking right i can always like someone comes in on our own seven for 13 five 14 grand you can transition them into something you know newer right or better miles so we have a budget wrangler that brings them in and then we start showing them other ones that they like more and then they end up spending more than they came here to spend which is a good thing for them too because they get a better jeep i don't see a whole lot today or is it me i see one thing that i know you're going to like and it's way over there oh yeah i have no interest in this but for some weird reason i feel like you're gonna like it and just something about this beetle screams german not germ in the country german the u that's the island car ah it is the island car you're right [Music] this is what drew barrymore drove in 50 first dates look at the computer speaker this is you dead battery bummer i spy a camaro this could be fun this is camaro ss in a standard transmission want to start it up no keys but it's dinging [Music] that's not a good sign so what's scary to me is that there's no dealer name somebody wrote their dealer number instead of their dealer name because they don't want their name on their car and they took the keys so this just screams like something's wrong with it and it's in the used car dealer lane meaning i used car dealers running it through why and the alarms going off just something about this says stay away but we do have a mustang gt and an rt challenger the problem is with toys toys are hot and the dealers all have money right now and they're all looking so they're all over spending so it's almost better to be safe with like trucks and other things all right the auction started let's head inside and see what we can come up with hey this is tempting [Music] why is it locked aston martin is this a vanquish in a six-speed this is tempting so here's a perfect example of a red light vehicle it's a night under a hundred thousand miles and it's under 10 years old but they go by manufactured date so it actually is 10 years old for a manufacturer date so it's still red light even though it's under 10 years old and under 100 000 miles so this you have to be careful even though i want this s5 broncos up what's your guess i actually thought it was going to go for more but look at the rot looks like it's ready to fall off its frame long day we got special guests papa al's with us so i bought four cars today how many did you get zero zero so i brought you for help and you were no help so uh i got four you're driving one back yeah well there's some help why tell me the reasons be honest because craig's job is way harder than ours back at the shop we appreciate him coming out here every week and keeping us busy and employed that alone is worth bringing you here so you can see it's not as easy as you think i spent 50 grand and i got a 50 000 hat they gave me a free hat for all of it so i appreciate that at least let's go see what we bought first one 14 silverado and i will tell you every single silverado i've owned has a dent right there right i don't always always right here i don't know why this is our first one let's take this and we'll go find the others here's my second of the day no not either of these this right here is a 2012 jeep wrangler with a whopping 207 000 miles crazy miles but it's a one owner no accents clean clean car and i just got a set of wheels to replace these steelies so and it's an automatic with a new body style with a good engine and it's clean so i think even though it has 200k on it i think i'm still gonna do pretty well with it so here is one of my purchases it is a 2003 honda element with 238 000 miles i don't normally buy these things but for some reason these honda elements seem to run forever they run forever and they're huge sellers i do really really well with them but this should be like an 800 car ah no not in today's market there is no such thing as a good running 800 car in today's market i paid 2 000 for a 2003 an 18 year old car with 238 000 a quarter of a million miles that's literally all the way to the moon that's how far this car is driven but it has a car inspection sticker it has good tires on it it's really clean and it's a honda now if i hadn't just sold one of these a month ago for 3 500 with the same miles i probably wouldn't have bought this one but the fact that i already sold one i already made some money on it and i kind of know these things are so easy to clean because it's all rubber flooring thought it might be worth it but wait there's more let's go see what else i bought this right here i got on if meaning i didn't meet the seller's reserve so i was 9 400. they want 12.5 now it's a 2011 jeep wrangler with 140 000 miles one owner no accidents and it's an automatic with a new interior because the new interior came out in 2011. 12.5 is actually pretty fair price for this because i can get 15 and i always replace those steely wheels with an upgraded set of stock wheels for like 500 bucks so a new set of wheels will easily boost this up to 16 grand so i could still make good money i counter offered him a 12 grand plus auction fee so i'll be into it for about 25 plus wheels so say under 13 000 as long as the repairs aren't too ridiculous so this is one that i think i purchased which will make me have like eight or nine jeep wranglers but wait there's more i think this is them calling let's see if i got it hello this is craig hey it's michael oh hey so you got the truck you got the team oh good thanks for the help he wanted me to make sure you know this is mike i'm telling you it's a really nice jeep and he said i'm losing a little money but because he had given me a four of like 13 grand okay but he said he said that you've done a lot for me so this is yeah so he really nice so i left the ferrari flip up to german this week with twenty thousand dollars and to be honest with you i think he got cold feet there's a lot going on it's pretty overwhelming i'm sure he didn't want to lose the money and buy it in the wrong places so maybe i'll bring him back another time we'll try it again but i did as a backup i bid on a 2014 ford raptor 6-2 crew cab one owner 200k miles let's hear it go for it i did buy a 2014 ford f-150 svt raptor 200k miles 200 000 miles i was a hybrid at 19 value on it still 23 grand they want 20 that would be my 20 000 knot on ferrari flip but i can't find it anywhere i think it's gone so because german dropped the ball in the 20 thousand dollars today kind of took it upon myself to possibly buy something so we can continue this series now this right here is a 2014 ford svt raptor one owner no accidents this thing's probably worth close to 40 grand except it has 213 000 miles that's crazy but it's the 6-2 so it's the big engine it's one owner it's no accidents it has four brand new kumo tires the frame is mint the truck is clean the only thing that makes me question there are roush badges all over it this isn't a roush and they're even back here roush badges did somebody slap a roush supercharger on this thing and not announce it if they did before we get into that let me tell you i was the high bidder at 19 2. the value on these auction values is 23 and a half so 23 000 that's with 215 000 miles still 23 000 i was the high bidder at 19. they no sailed it they didn't sell it for that price but i can counter offer them so if i can get it for 20 i'm in that ferrari flip price range i want to know what's under this hood because that makes me curious who went out of their way to slap roush badges and roche headrests on a ford svt raptor what's under this hood let's shut that first does have a car inspection sticker which makes me excited meaning it passed new hampshire state inspection which is pretty thorough look at the windshield too roush on the windshield ah yes yes i want it i want this thing i'm buying this that's amazing so this thing has a roush supercharger and nobody announced it meaning nobody knew it i'm buying this let's go see if we can make it happen but before i do that let's drive it and hear this thing whine [Music] so six two a ford six two with a roush supercharger i bet this thing has well over 500 horsepower because this is a 420-ish horsepower engine naturally aspirated meaning no supercharger yeah that's amazing i want this now yeah i love that sound all right let's go see if we can buy this thing no luck on the raptor and i'm feeling that thing i want it it's too bad for me they wouldn't take i actually came up over 20 000 because i want it and they still said no because they're on their way to pick it up now so i don't know how i should feel about this i'm disappointed 22 000 i came up 3800 and they still wouldn't sell it because he's on his way to pick it up 20 000 in a vehicle is much better than 20 000 sitting in my bank account now i just have money so it turns out i'm kind of a terrible instructor so i'm going to take the blame for thursday i thought about this since the auction i can't blame you for not buying anything because it's really high pressure really high stress there's a lot going on i do want to know what your excuse is though no i i don't i don't have an excuses basically what you're saying the facts let's go by facts um it's not that you're a horrible instructor it's your money even though i was allowed to spend it that day so i have limits you know like there were a couple of purchases that i thought i could probably buy for a little like maybe 800 more than you said or maybe a thousand that was that was the bracket everything that you told me just so you know how good you are um everything you told me like say oh i'll go 12-2 on that and and i could have got it for 13 or i'll go 12-2 and i could have got it for 13-2 those are my scenarios on the two that i probably two three that i picked really picked that i chased now it's really high stress there's a lot going on and that's why like at the end of the day i don't even remember what i bought you know when you go pick up the cars yeah would you buy i don't even remember because it's it's so fast paced there's a lot of pressure so after you left i did take over that twenty thousand dollars and i bid 18 on that raptor turns it remember the raptor yes turns out that raptor remember how it said roush across the the visor which is weird because it's a ford svt not a roush so i got to thinking let me pop the hood it was supercharged so that was a supercharged aftermarket raptor i came up another three grand on it after um after the auction and after i saw that and he had already said no i'm on the way to pick it up wouldn't sell it so that raptor was supposed to be we would have had a supercharged raptor for our next ferrari video but i kind of just took too long on it anyway that's the video for this week it's really difficult going to the auction's a lot of work and it's really stressful but we ended up with six cars none of which are ferrari videos so now we have to go back to the auction this week see what we can come up with for 20 with 20 000 a good thing it's an anniversary sale it's a toy sale this week so this coming
