all right next on the horizon ladies and gentlemen Attack on Titan half ended uh it was a big dub for everyone that appreciated that the ending of the anime was a little better than the ending of the manga and by a little better I mean way better the ending of the anime was actually great it was actually really great so we are jumping into today's gig video Attack on Titan is finally over by gig over here everyone gets upset when I call him that so I'm going to keep calling him that cuz making people upset literally costs me nothing I literally can live in people's head rent three and I'm going to do that because uh it's fun and I am a egotistical Maniac so we are doing that today the attack on Titan ending I have a lot of insight into the attack on Titan thing I'm working on a whole script for a whole main Channel video that I might never end up making cuz it's really long but that's what we're doing today baby the attack on Titan [Music] ending I am crying because I saw a future where I was a mass murdering vigilante psychopath when I actually murdered 8 billion people around the world that's why I was [Music] crying dude I'm glad we're getting like a gig retrospective I'm glad he's not just talking about the ending I really like that he's covering the the growth of this character through the years it's wild to me that it's 2023 and uh I've been literally following attack and Titans since 2013 this story has taken a decade of my life to complete and what a journey it has [Music] been through all pain through all the trauma through all the insanity that's pretty messed [Music] up not my boy not my boy I'm still crying I love this guy this guy is so cool he is the epitome of cool scene oh dude man Armen he actually became such a cool character at the very end like we all wondered why Armen even was a character for the majority of the story like he didn't add much and then at the very very end you kind of got why he clicked in with everything what an actual Masterpiece of a tale [Music] [Music] yeah what a character progression I think Aaron jger might be one of the best written protagonists of all time which is wild to say because I remember when the first season came out and I hated Aaron I thought he was just annoying and this [ __ ] I'm going to kill all the Titans little guy and the fact that he developed into literally one of the greatest protagonists ever is [Music] insane there are times when a piece of media comes along that seems to become something bigger than just another show something that didn't just impact a small group of people but blew pass into the heights of popular culture to Edge its way into the collective memories of everyone who was around in that time period yeah I remember when Attack on Titan came out in 2013 I was uh I was into anime I I was I didn't have a chance Channel yet at that point and uh Attack on Titan came out and it literally changed the world you had people who I knew like as kid as a kid I knew these people they never watched an anime before in their life they were people that were [ __ ] on anyone that watched Naruto and they were Attack on Titan stands they would walk around with like little you know the freaking cloak with the symbol the Insignia of the God damn the reconnaissance troop bro it it was wild Attack on Titan was a juggernaut on the scene and the fact that it wasn't overhyped was insane like I feel like Attack on Titan and sworded online had so much in common with how they started they came out episode one dropped it blew the minds of the world and and everything changed everything changed except sorted online ended up incredibly mid and Attack on Titan is Peak fiction it becomes generational when you look back you not only remember everything that show did but also the era of your life that show represented for many of us attack on Titan was that show that was there through the Journey we took to adult life not that show dude I loved Attack on Titan I remember when it just started I I was blown away by how amazing and badass it was and how anime isn't just some kids show like I just watched Naruto anime is not some kids show anime's anime is edgy it's it's cool it's real people dying Attack on Titan was like such an incredible Monumental part of my life in 2013 and the fact that it remained Peak is so wild we started watching when we were some dumb kid that we've grown up from now but the show that we found when we were transitioning into a new phase of Life discovering the harsh realities and responsibilities that came with it that we may or may not have been prepared for and now 10 years later that Journey has come to an end attack wild and I'm so happy that the anime improved on the manga's ending the manga ending was so rushed it just made me sad that this show that was with me the whole time had had a rushed ending and the fact that the anime really took the time to explore the themes and understand the cycle and kind of get what Aaron was going through how he was enslaved to Freedom as I will be talking about in my big video about this Insanity Titan is finally over it's been one hell of a journey one that I've been on right from episode one so now after having just seen the final moments of the final episode of the final parts of the final season okay listen listen you had to do it you had to make fun of how it was set up that way I get it I'm with you I have a mess of thoughts and feelings that I'm going to try and lay out coherently as best I can what did I think of the ending was I satisfied what kind of Legacy did Attack on Titan leave all of that coming up after I talk about today's sponsor Ark Knights yeah get that bag guck get that bag guck it's been a while since I talked about Attack on Titans so much so people were starting to believe that I just fallen out of Interest with it but the truth is I just didn't have that much new to add the final season continued being hype continued delivering on its complex political drama lot I I so know what he means like that as a YouTuber sometimes you'll mention something as an opinion you'll make a video about something and you're just not going to talk about it for a while and people think you hate it now what an actuality it just didn't change dude in actuality it's just more of exactly what I was saying I said it was Peak it's still Peak what am I going to add can make another video to repeat everything that I said Li said Peak bro think of every YouTube video as a stasis where until I say something else my opinion hasn't changed big happened since the last time I talked about it oh yeah the end of the world the big thing was of course Erin initiating the rumbling which was a plot development I had no idea was coming nuh-uh no way any of us could have predicted this was actually going to happen this was our red wedding our Thanos snap a world shaking fictional event that I believe will remain as a pop culture oh Bros playing the re of castor in the background godamn for years to come and it's an event like this exemplified what Attack on Titan does best when you hear about a disaster it's sometimes hard to rationalize in your mind one person dying is a tragedy a million people dying is a statistic and the one amazing thing about the rumbling hard line God damn man just spat that out is it truly makes you feel the gravity of what that statistic actually means this isn't just a percentage or a number on a page these are people individual people fighting tooth and nail in a situation that is so far beyond saving the true weight of for me the rumbling I don't think rumbling had the impact that the Red Wedding had mostly cuz first of all the Red Wedding was like a surprise Thanos snap also felt kind of meager because it didn't leave any impact right Thanos snap was just kind of undone later so it was not impactful I think that for me this uh rumbling was an incredibly powerful moment in how much Aaron evolved more than the actual tragedy it wreck it wre upon the world for me it wasn't even about the 80% of humanity that was wiped out by the rumbling it was the fact that the starry-eyed boy that became a victim of a massacre that became a Seeker for Revenge that became someone that caused the rumbling is what blew me away it's the Aaron development the very human aspect of Aon doing something this atrocious that really obliterated me Erin's decision is laid bare in front of you here is Humanity at the darkest Point yet somehow through the cruelty you see glimpses of hope that shine through just the roest moments of human nature and emotion this is just [ __ ] beautiful and also not in the manga I'm just saying scenes like that that were just cut out of that final Manga chapter were so sorely missed dude I'm so happy the the anime was the ending of the anime was fire my favorite episodes is the one where the characters we've grown to know on every side are just sitting in the circle discussing their next plans no action no big developments just a group of people talking trying to rationalize together an almost hopeless situation especially cuz all these people were enemies literally all these people tried to kill each other in the past Run High you get to see the raw side of these characters being put in a position they' never thought they'd be in and you're just sitting there going oo that's some spicy tea it takes a special show to be able to just put some people in a room let that scene play out and have that be as gripping as seeing two Goliath beings locking fists this to Simply put is just compelling television the Legacy the show built was one that was drama content and who don't love drama content not afraid to take risks not afraid to break the mold evolve change up the entire Reon you began watching in the first place honestly for me that's mindblowing the fact that you started watching this is some Shonen Adventure power fantasy and it eventually becomes a literal mystery thriller and then evolves again into a geopolitical like social story that's Insanity to some of the most gripping moments you can find in entertainment how do you even begin to go about concluding all these characters all these plot threads 10 years worth of buildup would it rise up to meet the Colossal weight of expectations it had or would it lose it all slip and fall okay dude all right why I put that in the script what is this man so someone used my email and emailed Studio wit hello I am anime reviewer gig no no no I hate when people do this okay good time for me to remind you all to not sign me up to random websites please I will make a request of you many people want eron and masasa to have a relationship Erin X masasa I think if this happens many people will enjoy the anime more nothing like kissing decapitated heads am I right Gamers prophecy is true so this is it necrofilia people don't understand it's a lifestyle Choice the ending if I had to pick a single word to describe my emotions after the ending it would be satisfied coming into this mangar readers had me believe that's your word that's rough That Game of Thrones season 8 was about to get a new sibling but instead what I saw was an imperfect sometimes a little messy but ultimately A fitting conclusion to a series that had already achieved so much over the years for a series that took so many risks I'm sure there were some people that were disappointed that everything ended in a pretty safe manner nothing too overly sad nothing too overly happy nothing really fell out my realm of expectations and to me that was completely fine there's already a million different opinions on every single little detail every scene every line who should have died who should have lived but pretty much my only issues boiled down to things revolving around the Titan law and this single scene oh yes he saying it bro they they they pull out a berserk reference and they absolutely and utterly had the whole Aaron Armen conversation that was the Crux of the ending oh no please I can't do this again no one of the big question marks I had was where was Aaron ultimately going with all this what were the conse yep yep I think he was going with all this to be defeated I think his his plan was for you know masasa and Armen and the Gang to actually beat him I think that was his plan and he doing this he does manage to unite Humanity by becoming the ultimate Evil And since he could see the future code Gia style and since he could see the future and he knew that this was going to happen I think that he planned all of this in a way that he would become this ultimate Evil be Tak down by his homies that way his homies would remain relatively safe quence is going to be for initiating the rumbling what was able to achieve by massacring millions if not billions of people I don't know seems legit it's revealed that Aaron didn't I don't know I don't know I think partially partially I'm with you that it was a bit cringe but I do like the idea that he thought this was a way to make peace last a little longer not eternally cuz someone else is going to eventually Venture into some tree and find some freaking centipede monster that'll turn him into a Titan but at least for now he is creating an era of Peace already know what he was doing he was just an idiot he fell into power and got lost along the way ah yes another classic example of men who'd rather commit genocide risk his friends dying ensure the death of his own mother then seek a therapist for real though yeah well I actually really liked this idea that Erin was at heart the same angry emotional kid we saw at the beginning from the GGO and you only get that from the Armen conversation and it was a little lost in the manga it just seemed wild in the manga but in the anime you really got that conversation and it fits so much better we see Aaron as a person who tried to solve all his problems through impulse and rage and as he got older learned more about the world learns that human conflict is way more complex and nuanced than he ever imagined it to be while obtaining the power to make a real change the only solution he could come up with was the only solution he ever knew kill kill Titans kill humans kill everyone that got in the way of his freedom when in the end it was that very Freedom that had enslaved him the no he said exactly the he literally took the words out of my mouth Aon is a man enslaved to freedom because in his quest for ultimate Freedom where he can make the ultimate Choice he is just a slave to that freedom God damn what a deep freaking show and it's not fake deep like some of this other garbage it was actually such a great ideology such a brilliant character development while still retaining the soul of the original character not completely disregarding him and going 180 friends on the world on us was convincing us that he was him he tried to be Louch and realized I just said that yeah man Tred to be Lou too late you're not that guy pal trust me I freaking love this idea and it felt like such a fitting conclusion for the character where this got a bit messy is when you throw this in with all the Titan timey wiy [ __ ] see he wanted his friends to become the heroes by so crazy is that whole timey wiy [ __ ] was one of the greatest plot twists ever but also it's like what did they really need to include like what slaying him but also he was going to wipe out 100% of humanity anyway of given him the chance so he's a psychotic idiot oh but wait his mind's a mess cuz he sees the past present and future simultaneously this was a predetermined timeline where he actually initiated the death of his mom Titan power mechanics the paths coordinates these shines through when they are used to put characters in difficult situations with tough choices to make the stakes are high and the consequences are always clear but I came out of this conversation not exactly knowing what choices Aaron had to make was this the only timeline he was tragically forced to enact was the rumbling the decision he made B and we never will because thank [ __ ] god hajim isayama the writer of the show was not infected by Pander veritis creating alternate universes and Alternate realities where Aaron actually did get [ __ ] where Aaron did lose his virginity where Aaron did in fact impregnate masasa and he didn't he wasn't only kissing her after he was a discombobulated head on different Futures he saw was he trying to set up a code guos ending for his friends was this all a facade and he had no idea what he was doing was it all of the above what could have been something clear and concise felt a bit jumbled up and I thought by just having a few more scen to really give a glimpse into what was really going on in his head it could have saved a lot of confusion imagine how much we suffered in the freaking manga we didn't even get the few scenes you did have oh my god when I read that Manga chapter I was like what that is the great Twist of Erin's psychology cuz he's still a broken Lov sake little [ __ ] honestly one thing that I do like about Attack on Titan uh I say one thing like there aren't a million things that I like about Attack on Titan it was kind of a love story in its own weird way with all the weird world destruction [ __ ] and all the you know annihilating all that garbage Aaron in his mind just being a pathetically love sick guy that's kind of beautiful in its own kind of wild way oh he just got called cringe by Armen Arman it's over and this is pretty yeah armen's Peak cringe so godamn watch my sentiment for every other big reveal in the final conversation turns out Aaron and macassa had feelings for each other the ENT entired time instead of having sibling type relationship oh and so did yir who actually loved King Fritz yeah that's that was a wild one ah the yamir King Fritz relationship was maybe the worst twist in attack and T the person that burned down her Homeland murdered her parents and tore out her tongue that was the thing that bound her for 2,000 years she was just looking for someone to break her out of her shackles of love and that real special chosen person was actually masasa why that's crazy yeah that was a bit of a that was wild I did not like that either uh I was very upset about that in the manga very very upset the one thing that consistently blew my mind watching Attack on Titan is that no matter how crazy the plot got it always felt so natural every major development was meticulously crafted every twist carefully planned out and foreshadowed compared to that a lot of this felt like we were thrown this out of left field Aon and masassa having feelings for each other y having some twisted love for her King masasa being her chosen one all of these are interesting ideas that I kind of see what the intention is and I guess it kind of makes sense but for the very first time I didn't feel that same airtight execution as everything that came before it it it was the messiness of it all and I think that I was maybe I was blinded by just how much better the anime did explaining it than the manga that I didn't realize that the anime was also not airtight maybe I didn't I I was just looking at it through Rose tinted glasses cuz at least they did a better job explaining it than the manga that they had that conversation with Armen dude when I saw Aon have that conversation with Armen and the manga I don't think you realize what the major change the major change in the conversation was eron started the conversation W with I am about to wipe out 80% of humanity and then Aron's like oh anyway let's talk about love and girls and boobs that was the manga conversation at least in the anime he saved that little tidbit of wiping out 80% of the of the world he saved that for the end of the conversation which kind of puts it all in a totally different spin especially since it took the true ship that was foreshadowed this entire time no no no what are you saying no that is not the true ship the true ship is obviously Levi and a bad dragon [Music] dildo no okay we see what you did there all right rant over I realized that just spent the last few minutes nitpicking details but I hope you understand that this is only compared to the insanely high standards the series had set itself previously with a show that juggled so many moving Parts characters geopolitics time travel Titan law mechanics if my only complaints is honestly dude geopolitics and time travel imagine a show with those two things in it simultaneously and it actually being good and forget all the other random fantasy stuff that was thrown in there messy execution on a few aspects in the final scene it in no way hampers the show's accomplishments and all I really wanted anyway was for it to its final message which it did I said before that with everything the series had done all it needed to do was land on two feet and while I don't think we got that perfect 10 out 10 Landing to me this more felt like oh okay impressive impressive oh no oh oh was it going to fumble oh oh oh all right we take those okay all right good job you know honestly gig this is how you should review everything we got the short-term happiness that Erin yearned for the people he loved got to live short-term happiness saved the people he loved despite being what a selfish [ __ ] wiped out 80% of humanity but at least the people he loved were fine yep well that's Aon that's Aaron about the long peaceful lives they deserved everyone we care about got the send offs they so rightfully earned but it was only a matter of time before the pieace they fought so hard for ended War breaks out and the cycle begins a new it showed us no matter how hard one person tries that that's the craziest thing I I love that that is so Peak that is why why the ending was such a success in my opinion not because of the little random interpersonal conversations or random weird yir love stories slavery [ __ ] yeah for me it's it's the fact that ultimately the cycle will continue and you can have all the power in the world and the cycle will continue and cuz Humanity will end up sucking at some point no matter what change you enact conflict is inevitable and humanity is doomed to repeat itself who won who lost everyone won and everyone lost and to me that felt like a cruel but poetic ending to the unforgivingly harsh World Attack on Titan presented us with but you know what even though on paper this is technically a really Grim ending it didn't make me feel hopeless like the characters we know because at some point in that future world there will also be that one dude that gets up and wipes out 80% of humanity only to have all the people he objects subjectively likes living happy lives and eventually they're all going to die completely happily just a few hundred years before this all starts over again let's go baby I love Humanity the harsh reality of the world this was a series that was unforgiving to every person in it that was willing to put its characters through unimaginable suffering and pain placed them in a living hell yet despite this they struggled on anyway why because no matter how Bleak no matter how dark there is still a willingness to hope for a better tomorrow while acknowledg I think love I know it's cringe but I think Attack on Titans a love story Gamers it is it's Bleak and the cycle continues and people will die and people will suffer but ultimately the one thing you do have control over is loving someone else I it's so it's wild it's cringe maybe I'm cringe I'm cringe okay let's let's go back to making funny memes haha Attack on Titan haai is hilarious God man I never thought ampute hentai would be that that wild God the way I see them with their missing arms and Limbs and just yeah but Attack on Titans a love story I'm just saying I'm just saying aing the harsh truths of today it's not baky levels of romance but it's up there that's what Attack on Titan meant to me it might not be the greatest ending of all time but it is to me the fitting ending to one of the greatest stories we've seen in anime this was a tale that has given me every emotion Under the Sun a story that has shocked me touched me inspired me in a way few pieces of art ever could and I don't doubt that it will be a long time before we see a series like this come around again this wasn't just a show I feel like it was really like it's crazy since the 10 years that attack on Titan started I don't think we've seen anything like it begin that you can even hope for a complete story to look like this it's wild UT hintai does go hard though okay Chad get out of here what what that blew up in the anime Community this was a show that grew up with the anime Community a show that blasted past the reach of what we thought anime was capable of and showed the world just how great this medium could be some of us discovered anime because of this show some of us fell back in love with anime because of this show some of us will never forget anime because of this show years from now when you're reminiscing about that time every convention was filled with survey uniforms having a kneejerk reaction to someone shouting Sago the emotional Rush of hearing Irwin's last speech the collective shock up my boy Irwin still best boy by the way still awesome I love that man being initiated and some person goes I don't get it there's only one reply you can say you just had to be there this is what it means to be a generation defining show this wasn't just the end of another anime this was the end of an [Music] era what a my God what a GI I wonder have you guys been there this whole time have you all been there through all this from the very beginning yeah man if I had one one thing to say about Attack on Titan um it would be thank you cringe as it sounds I would say thank you attack on Titan thank you for creating a truly Master workor a master workor of a story on every possible level hitting on so many different themes hitting upon so many different brilliant character philosophies and character developments me going through all these characters watching them grow and watching them suffer together watching them hobble for a better future only to realize that the future is an impending doom and it's worth grasping to the things that you have with you right now that's beautiful thank you attack on Titan like subscribe and follow me on Twitch stay weird fam
