thank you so much to squarespace for sponsoring this video squarespace is the all-in-one platform to build a beautiful online presence and run your business [Music] hello welcome back and welcome to my studio so if you're new here hello my name is vicky i'm an artist specifically i work in the animation industry for about a year now and also i run a sticker shop on my etsy and also this youtube channel so ever since the start of the pandemic i've been working out of this room and it's been really nice so far i'm really grateful to have a little space for myself at home this place has definitely gone through a lot of different changes over this year mostly because i get very bored of my surroundings and i'm a big believer that your surroundings influence and inspire you so in order to be and continually be inspired why not like jazz up the space a little bit more so with my last little iteration of this space and layout of this room i decided that it was time to upgrade to some better furniture and also actually paint some walls and the other goal of this makeover was to make some room for a potential cute roommate that i've been talking about a little bit i want a cat i want to make room for a cat this space will be all for the cat so as a lot of you know i am a very cottage core aesthetic person but i feel like with the direction of this room that i've gone with it's more of like a trend i don't even know what type of trend it is but here is the pinterest boards that i kind of followed even though i really do like more old vintagey cottage core witchy vibes a lot of times i felt like this room kind of needed more pops of color so the theme of this room is basically kind of following everything that is very trendy right now which is like color blocking bright colors grid patterns i love grid i've always loved grid and of course there's got to be a painted arch because arches are great and you know every room just really needs an arch so with all that said let's look into the before and after and then get to a studio tour so this is the current state of the studio right now and as you can see i don't really keep super tidy especially after kind of just like working and packing a lot of orders for the shop over here is the main desk where i have my desktop and i'm thinking about revamping this wall there's a lot of space here that i can use up with larger prints this needs a lot more cleaning and also some desk organization so i'm thinking about getting one of those little uh desktop stands and then this is the secondary wall space that i'm thinking about decorating more and just putting a lot more framed pieces and probably a few shelves here and also a few shelves there so in terms of painting i definitely want something to go along these walls because it is very very white and a little boring i'm thinking about maybe having this interior wall because this is like more set back than the rest of the room and have this kind of square painted a specific color but what i do know for sure is that i want this part painted so that's about it in terms of paint plans it would just be here here and a little bit of this corner here but when it comes to everything else i have a lot of cleaning to do so i think today is just gonna be spring cleaning the main things i kind of want to prioritize is finding room for all these boxes and then the last thing i really want to focus on is just revitalizing my plants and having a little bit more space open instead of just like this sprawl of green before we move on further i just want to take some time to thank the sponsor of this video which is squarespace as you know already i've been using squarespace myself for the past few years for my own portfolio site and it's [Music] [Music] i'm not ready for this i'm too tired but my room is just too messy this is why i say i'm a terrible plant mother because all this accumulates [Music] very tentative but i feel like the placement of this shelf would be really nice with the grid here so that i could have more light coming in from there and i'll probably get like a flat file cabinet for more storage space and then redisperse all of these plants look how many plants there are and because it's right next to the mirror it looks like it's infinite amount of plants [Music] oh my god this just looks like cheese cheese more like cheddar cheese [Music] yeah i'm just cleaning [Music] i need a tinier brush for this progress so far there is a lot to do and it is very very messy [Music] so it's now day two and this is the progress so far and i think i should probably move all my plants out because they are literally everywhere i painted this guy here to match the room a little better i think it's just kind of cute to have little pops of color but it kind of makes it tackier another fun little thing i've been taking care of this plant for my friend for about five months now and only now have i realized that this pot has a face i've been looking at it from this side the entire time wow what a surprise [Music] hey this is most likely temporary but i've moved the majority of my plants here just for now and look it's a little family reunion and i've got some plants over there as [Music] well this is the emptiest my room has been in a hot second this is what the little peekaboo windowsill is like got the yellow arch there and then the pinker coral color for the windowsill there it's gonna be so cute in here and i'm ashamed to say you know honestly i was a little worried that the paint would make this area a little too dark but the sunlight is like bouncing off the walls pretty nicely and bringing in some really warm light also it's like so empty in my room now for the first time in maybe like a year year and a half that it's there's a little bit of echo in this room which i find crazy [Music] [Music] space [Music] okay so i had a little bit of a detour because i wanted to take a break from painting and all that i wanted to show everything that i thrifted and i bought today look at this cute bear wall hanger it's so cute i know this is probably for like a nursery or like a kindergarten classroom but it fits my room it even matches my shirt i got two throw pillows because i realized like i need some pillows to match the room it will really help tie in this couch i got like a corduroy one and also like a crushed velvet and see it works perfectly and the other thing i got is like this tool i don't know what you call this but i got this thing and then the things that i thrifted are mostly just for wall decor it's very shiny and it's kind of like a metallicy rose gold which i think would work really well with all the pink on my walls now and then i got some wooden frames this one's a funny shape and this one's just very chunky and i'm gonna paint them [Music] [Music] so it's been a little bit and i actually stayed up until like 4 a.m to finish a little bit more of this room basically just like moving everything but i got a pretty special package here so i just got a desk for flexi i've worked with flexispot in the past and my main desk over there the maple top one is actually my first desk from them and it's really awesome but i was really grateful enough for them to send me this one to try out so i think my main task for today is just to get all this assembled is pretty nice it seems like the motor and everything this time around is already attached i just have to touch on the legs oh the legs are attached so it's like attaching on a square okay perfect and the cool part about this model desk is that it has a drawer which i really like so i'm gonna see how that goes later just like that it's done it is such a nice clean countertop and time to check out the drawer oh wow really nice a lot of storage space here well this is really nice i really like the white countertop i think it really just you know brings out the light in the room more so i just wanted to thank flexispot again for sending me a desk i really enjoyed it also it was really easy to assemble i think it took me like max 20 minutes like this is how easy it is step one attach legs step two attach the feetsies to the legs step three wire and then you're done so yeah that took way less time than i thought and i think i'm just going to take a nap now or something and now i still have to figure out my cardboard box mess okay so i think my last little project of the day is to assemble this little desk drawer and finally i have a clean desk now oh my god okay maybe this shelf is gonna be harder to build than the table these are all different sized holes [Music] what okay i'm like kind of done for today because this thing has absolutely wrecked my hands and i'm not even done screwing these guys just will not go in and i've completely wrecked the allen key and this was already uncooperative like four screws in or so so i'm hoping i could get another allen key that's the same size when i'm at ikea tomorrow but here it is for now i mean not finished but it will do [Music] [Music] [Music] set me in the corner [Music] no [Music] i'm back home again and i bought a lot of fun ikea stuff my main plan was to buy a bunch of storage bins for this area but they ran out of the cute ones that i wanted but it's supposed to come in like this really cute teal color feels like this is a very nice color for the spring right now and it's very popular right now in ikea so i'll be waiting on those and also shelving units it's okay though because i bought a little bed i have two big drawers to assemble they're on the ground right now because they're extremely heavy and then i also got some fun things just some frames and this cloud lamp this is so cute this whole week is just my room going through phases of mess and cleanliness and me trying to fix all of that but after making this i think things will be better [Music] so [Music] [Music] so so this is exactly why i wanted the arch here it works perfectly so a little update is the next day and i am exhausted i'm finally done with assembling all the ikea furniture and also just anything that required like assembling or drilling into the wall cap bed done flat file done cabinets and crates done you can really tell how much i love ikea and white furniture at least everything is matching [Music] so for a couple weeks now i've been making these guys which are just like very fluffy pom-poms they're all different types of strings and the reason why i've been making these guys is because i saw this one diy online about how to make a pom pom rug and i want to make it so the diy itself started out more with a floral pattern and i'm going to be trying to follow that as well except the center palm for the flowers will be a different type of string than these guys the flower petals so that there's a little bit of a variation of textures within this piece but this is the general idea and then a little green palm for the leaf these are actually what i've been using for making the pom-poms instead of buying a pom-pom maker since this is more of like a one-off project i just cut out some little half circles with cardboard or like chipboard and these work out pretty well you just really need like a very sharp pair of scissors and some patience because sometimes it could go wrong i don't think this string type is recommended because it gets very messy so i have to shake this out afterwards it'd be really good for like fuzzy socks but it's kind of just like a proof ball when it's a pom pom and even if you know like how there's a lot of fruits and vegetables that get coated with blacks okay two hours later and it looks like it's pretty much done [Music] [Music] [Music] so here's the majority of the wall decor that i'm going to be putting up and then that guy over there i got a few large prints from society6 because i decided that it needs a little bit more variety in terms of sizes and then i have a second print that is over here so when it comes to larger prints like this i learned this technique in art school which is just to use clips like this it's like these type of clips or anything else like paper clips that you can put on and you take a few scraps of paper put it like wedge it in between and then clip it onto your print this paper is there so that it doesn't damage your actual print and then this will just hang from a nail on the wall [Music] me [Music] okay i think i'm going to end it here before i do the reveal so this is the current state of the whole room i'm going to keep doing more i'm going to clean up i'm going to organize i also have been eating a lot because this has just been taking all my time and energy so i'm going to take a break and that should be it for now look how incredibly cute he is he is the holder of jackets and bags if you've never seen my face [Music] why is it blurry hello welcome to my little studio this is my humble abode and i hope you enjoy let's get on to the tour here is this wall and then there's this wall and then you've got the mirror wall and here is the window wall so a little bit more about this space this room is about eight feet by ten feet and i try to utilize as much space as i could which is why i have the printer here at the very front and also my little bookshelf so immediately when you enter the room is this very cute bear coat hanger and i've got all my essentials here i just need a little bit of hanging space for my bags my masks and my keys and this is kind of the little accent wall because it has the peachy colored grid and it's got the yellow door frame to match with the yellow side of the door and then the bear kind of ties in everything together and moving just slightly to the left is my main table and my desktop so this is the first wall where i have a lot of artwork just like sporadically placed everywhere as well as just this really fun decal that i've had since graduation this is a paper decal that i printed at school on a large format printer i just thought it would be a waste to throw this out because one it was kind of expensive to print and two it's just like a really nice decal to put anywhere right next to the printer is some more wall decal this is a really large print from society6 eggy prints this is from a good friend brittany she goes by gadget illustrations this is a little thank you card and then this is from chao boo and then one of my favorite pieces in the room is actually this um i think this is just like a tea towel but it's also a calendar so i ended up just like hanging it up for 2021 and this is from johann studios and moving on to what's on my desk i got this little drawer space desktop stand from amazon and it's got really cute hearts these are some of my favorite decorations that i've had over the years and i just think fake grass and plants just adds a little bit more oomph to the room and speaking of plant things this is a little mushroom uh diorama i guess on a slap of wood that i made a few years ago and i loved it ever since so i've kept it here and it just makes things a little more cotted corey and then to the right of that i've got this little patch that i got from vegas and then also another mushroom thing i got my air pods case here which is really cute because it just matches the aesthetic of everything else and then a little plant holder which i'm using as a pencil case holder for some of my pens and this is from one of my patrons so right next to my main desk setup is my side tables and also this little window cubby i think for me it's important to have everything kind of in arms reach so i really like the idea of an l-shaped desk setup except i just kind of did that with the three random tables that i have and my favorite part about this area is actually this corner here this is probably the hardest thing for me to stall but also my favorite installation which is the cloud shelf and the cloud lamp i also decided to give him a little face this is a print from mooc pearl art and then a thank you card from lee currently i just have some of my small plants hanging from there as well as some prints that i am just waiting to ship out for april patreons but i decided to put them there because it looks pretty cute in this little space below all that i got some two things from tinyplant because she's got the cutest sweetest things and then a really lovely print from kiki and i think it looks really great in this really cute pink frame and just to get a glimpse of my table space right now i just have my sticker cutter this is the silhouette cameo fork i placed it kind of this way so that i could cut stickers right next to my desk but that may change in the future as i actually get more into restocking my store and just cutting more and then i've got just some plants here some more over there as well trying to keep this space a little emptier than i usually am used to and then right next to all that is my paper cutter and moving on to probably my favorite wall which is this gallery wall so i think this intersection of the room is definitely the place where everything kind of really worked out on its own where the blend of colors and like textures just makes everything feel very cozy and if you see over here this area still has a lot of cardboard boxes and a lot of kind of clutter but this is kind of the most efficient way for me to pack my orders this desk right here has this very cute green cutting mat and this is actually going to be my main packing station and then i've got a lot of art here including some art from friends and a lot of artists that i really admire and the first one being a little print from radio this is mr bear and this is cooney and this is just like the sweetest little piece so i put a little frame around it and i think this frame just really goes well with everything and i love how shiny and textured it is and then next to that piece is actually this wonderful mirror that i got from cat creature annabelle she is a wonderful creator that i looked up to greatly and when i saw that she makes these kind of mirrors i just thought this was like the perfect thing for my wall it's so pretty and there's you hello and since i wanted to kind of play around with scale with having like small medium large items in one wall i got this pretty large print from society6 unfortunately i don't know who the artist is but i'll probably have it in the link below and then i've got some more prints up here little notes from friends and also some dried flowers from trader joe's that i got like a few weeks ago and then my beloved rug so after probably two to three hours of actually just getting this mounted onto this non-slip rug backing and also i think about three hours about actually making all of these this piece is finally done i could have this as a rug on the floor but i think it's great to have this as a hanging piece because it really brings a lot more depth into the room and it's just so fuzzy and then the last few pieces on the wall is these guys and then also a framed piece i think that just really matches my aesthetic which is just a lot of daisies and a field from libby frame this one's from hola and pina and then this guy is from johan studio and then at the very tippy top is this very cutely framed piece from jisupi jisu is so lovely reikure and then this is actually just a thank you card so that makes up all of this gallery wall which moves on to the packing table over here i have a little filing cabinet for sticker papers files anything i really need in terms of paper wise and then on top i have all my things that i made in my last video i kind of just wanted to keep them here for now because i still have to work on them and also it just makes for like some really cute decor this table is actually pretty cool it's got like all these little settings in it and actually charging stations and then this buttons for like locking since this is a standing desk so if i want to add this height i could just do this and it's got this little thing which i loved so much because i just needed so much drawer space and this makes everything perfect for everything that i need right here i've got my apple pencil my ipad my tablet and also my laptop in there and then also just all my rulers so that it makes it really easy to just like cut paper here and then put the rulers away because i have so many rulers i don't need all of these out and about and since i'm kind of tall at 5 11 i don't always want to be hunching at my desk if i'm like working and standing so a sanding disc is pretty perfect because then you could just adjust your height to whatever you want this is like the main height that i would love but if i really want to get like a little higher then i could set it to whatever stance i want and it goes pretty high it's like here and that kind of leads me to all my storage so i got these two cabinets recently and this one was such a pain to build but i think it was kind of worth it it really matches all of the aesthetic over here and it provides me with a lot of storage space i like the white finish to a lot of things it makes things look a little cleaner but i also really like wood accents so over here is where i have a little bit more wood and a little bit more fun with color so contrary to what this shelf looks like this shelf is actually about having a little bit of fun and it seems like the arch is like a little taller than me so it's a little harder to film this at a front angle because the window is right here but this is what this shelf looks like it's my main plant shelf where i have a lot of very more sentimental decor on it and i just have this little cloud fabric here to contrast with all the yellow in the room but also just to hide some of my other products and things that i still need to kind of organize this is mainly just a very cute knick-knack shelf the next is this filing cabinet with a lot more plants a little book and my very cute watering can from ikea this is actually a book of my family dog who sadly passed away a few years ago but i like to put this over here and out and about because it's just really nice to see her with all my plants here so in these drawers they're not fully organized yet but i have like a lot of paper stuff that used to be in different containers all over the room and i thought it'd be better to just have it all in one place so this is for the sticker cutter and this is for my printer and then i have a lot of prints that i have for my store so the main reason why i actually got this cabinet in the first place was so i could house these 11 by 17 prints because before this i would literally just store everything in the cardboard boxes that it came with i kind of just needed that to change and everything's way more organized than this now so now they're safe and sound in here and there's a lot more space for more prints to come and now getting around to the iconic ikea cart this is my packaging cart where i keep all of my sticky inventory some thank you cards sticker sheets and also some more prints down here and i've kind of kept it in this little corner because it fits perfectly but the only problem is if i do this yeah my room is slanted as you can see it won't stay flat to this wall it's just going to continue rolling by itself or my room is possessed by ghosts so i'm just gonna keep the cart here as much as i can and then just have like these kind of guys to stop it from rolling and then at my very last wall is my love seat couch i think that's what it's called this is just like a smaller couch than like a regular i don't know sized couch this is where i house all my bear plushies here's ice bear and here's grace bear and i don't have pan pan but i also have this other generic bear and these are my favorites originally i thought i kind of had too many plushies but i think these guys work the best because they are the most lovely shape they're the best shape to hug and they're also the best shape to have on the couch i thought it was kind of important to have a space in the studio to just kind of lounge around and relax when i can so i'm just really glad to have this couch here even though it's blocking this this mirror is actually a closet so i used to have a little bit more access to it from this end but i could probably just still open it it's not as practical to have the couch right next to the closet but it honestly works out the best in this scenario so i'm not too mad about it and then because i have more room here i also have more of my new cat stuff with the favorite cat thing being the ikea toy bed where i have the strawberry plush on it it would be a very cute thing for a cat to rest on and then to the side of my couch is the bookshelf where i have a lot more plants my brushes paint brushes all my utility tools i had a harder time kind of making it look more organized but it's um definitely more of like the cluttered mess that i'm used to this one houses all my art supplies when it comes to like paint brushes postcards acrylic wash i got my sketchbooks and i've also have all my art books and a lot of zines and stuff reference books and then on top i have all the rest of my plans one thing i did forget to mention is actually this little printer which is my epson artisan 1430 this is a discontinued printer but it still works pretty well for me so it's just gonna be my dinosaur and i've actually cleaned out and cleared out a lot of space on this printer cart maybe in the future i can make this into like a cat cove if a cat wants to get into this but for now this is what i have oh and this is my little doorstop his name is erba gray and his purpose is literally just to be in this corner like this so i think that wraps about everything to do with the studio except for one last thing which is about lighting so if anyone was curious i actually have a north facing window over here which is the larger window and then this window back here is the west facing window so i get a lot of like really nice golden light in the late afternoons and actually this suncatcher over here like catches a lot of rainbows it gets like really saturated here in the afternoons and the last thing i kind of worked on on the studio is the lighting from the stream lights so obviously this is more for like a nighttime thing but i've had these larger stream light bulbs for a while now and now it's kind of elevated more because i have this overhead lamp that i got from my brother it works really well giving like casting a lot of light in this area and also definitely the cloud bear i won't be having these lights on in the daytime because it's just nice to absorb the natural light of the day but at night time i do get tired of the overhead lights they're not fluorescent but they're just very bright so having something like this where it's all warm but bright enough to work is just really cozy and yeah that's pretty much the whole entire studio and i feel like it feels a lot bigger in the space now with the way that everything is rearranged and i am just really happy i'm probably going to be creating in the space for many months to come so i'm just glad to make this space as cozy as i can for now i've been talking for like 30 minutes straight and now i'm like on the verge of losing my voice i really love how things turned out and if you love it too leave a comment down below i just want to see what you think as well and i think that's about it for this week i'll see you next time and i hope you take care bye bye
