[Music] finally snowed now we knew this tyre review jingle bells [Music] what's up guys sit under lifestyle we're gonna talk about something that is believe it or not pretty controversial that is tires tires are like a lot of things that guys like and there's just a ton of opinion and it's a whole lot of like whatever I have is better than whatever you have kind of thing and that's not at all what this video is I've been whaling for about 17 years I've owned a ton of different types of tires and I want to be really objective with these ten months ago maxis did provide me with these razors but I have no obligation to say they're awesome or say they're not awesome I'm gonna give you my honest review on these tires and tell you exactly what my experience has been over the last ten months and four states that I wield it I want to break this video into five main categories mud road rocks sand and snow like everything in the automotive world to be good in one category you will sacrifice performance in the other that's just kind of how it is there's always a little bit of give and take but with modern tire compounds there has been a ton of advancement entire technology over the last ten years so you can get a tire that's really good at everything and not necessarily super good at one thing and super bad at another twenty years ago to choose a good mud tire you had to make a ton of sacrifice all good mud tires back in those days were super noisy on the road they were down superfast on the road but now there's a ton of good tires available then make it where you have really good off-road performance with really good on-road characteristics I would say that the maxis razor definitely fits into this category of new tire or it's good at a whole lot of things it only has to make some small compromises here there I want to start this review by talking about this tire strong suit and that is mud the best quality by far is the chamfered edges that are on the outsides of the voids that are in between the tread on this tire that makes its wear mud and things like that can't pack into the tire tread and it ejects outstanding ejection is when the tire releases mud or debris or anything that's in between the treads as soon as you give it any sort of wheels feed if you've watched any of the off-road stuff that I've put on this channel you will notice that these eject constantly so whenever it's going up a series of obstacles and anything gets caught in the tread as soon as I get any sort of wheel speed it is constantly just throwing mud and debris and everything else out of the tread out of the three sets of 40 s that I have owned these are definitely the best in mud the first set Ireland was I and those were good in mud but they weren't near as good as you would expect out of an off-road exclusive tire those are definitely not made for the street and I would say that they were good in mud but I would say these are better and I'm not kidding these are really really good the second set of 40s I own with some Pro Comp empty twos and those were very good all around and I would say those did a little bit better in snow than these will but in mud these are definitely better and I would say that has a lot to do with that chamfering on the outside edge and this also has a larger void in between the tread as far as giving these tires a rating the mud I would say these are a four out of five and that's for a couple different reasons five on my scale is competition only tires so super swampers augers and maxes trêpa doors things like that things that are exclusively an off-road tire that are extremely aggressive those are the only things that are gonna outperform this in the mud but I would say that compared to a lot of other mud terrains these are definitely on the high end when it comes to mud the second category we're gonna talk about is road manners I don't drive this on the street very often it's pretty rare but one thing that I have noticed is that these are surprisingly quiet on the road for a mud tire so compared to an all terrain or compared to just a regular street tire these are they're louder for sure but they definitely are surprising considering how aggressive the tread pattern is on them I would say that these are a 3 out of 5 stars it's not as important category to me because once again it's pretty rare that I drive it on the street just for a little comparison I would rate a TSL or an IROC and a 2 and out rate i'll bogger and a 1 those are definitely the noisiest tires you can probably drive on the street I haven't driven a Maxis trêpa door on the street yet but I imagine it's probably pretty noisy too category number 3 with these tires is rocks and I would say that when I first got these I wasn't super impressed with them in rocks they definitely worked in rocks it wasn't like they're unusable or anything like that but it took a little while to break them in and get the sidewalls soft enough to where it hooked up on rocks the way I'd like so I'd say it started about a three worked its way up to like a 3.5 something like that if I could do a point 5 but because of the durability of the tire and rocks that puts it a little bit closer to a 4 for me so the performance is good not great but the durability is great which brings Rock performance up in my book I'm definitely not worried about tearing a sidewall I've had tires at Johnson Valley twice I've had these tires at Moab once I've had these tires and whole bunch of trails up here in Washington they've been to San Hollow Utah they've been to Arizona they've been to Big Bear California they've been to a whole bunch of different trails and they still look outstanding they've done all kinds of rocks I like rocks a lot so I push them pretty hard on rocks and you can look all around the tread on all these tires and there are no rips and tears I would say that my eye rocks performed better on rocks I would give them a solid four but you were constantly losing huge chunks of tread off of those tires every big trip I would take I would come back with huge lugs missing big rips in the sides really deep cuts they were not near as durable so they would rate really close to these because the durability is better on these but the rock performance was better on the IROC the next area performance for a talk about is sand honestly I do not do sand very often but this year I've been to the Southwest a lot and I've done sand quite a bit I don't know what to expect and sand out of a mud tire I don't know how a mud tire normally doesn't sand I would say overall my Jeep is really good in sand because it's lightweight and it's on 40 s air down really low I'm not sure exactly how to write these I would say they're at least a three maybe a four but I don't really know because I don't have a whole lot of experience or access to sand very often a panel tire it would definitely be a five but again I think these would fit somewhere between a three and a four I imagine if you put these next to a paddle tire and you started going forward you would very quickly realize that these are not a paddle tire area number five is snow and I'm not talking about the kind of snow you get drizzled over a roadway I'm talking about the kind of snow that you find way up in the mountains at altitude snows are hard rating to do because it changes so much like dirt it would be like giving these a rating for dirt is it looser is it wet dirt you know there's a whole bunch different types of dirt and snows the same way so you've got powdery snow you've got snow that packs down really tight you've got snow that's crunchy on the top and the only snow trip I've had them on so far they did really well but it was not a lot of snow it was only four or five inches and I think that overall these are not gonna be a great snow tire that is my prediction I need a few more snow trips to really be able to prove that or prove that but anything that Jax is not gonna be good in snow because it's gonna dig your best snow tire is gonna be something that packs into the tread a little bit because snow sticks to snow better than rubber sticks to snow we're gonna go look at a tire that I think is gonna be outstanding in the snow and we'll talk about why the tires that came with my Land Rover RBF gko twos I've never used these tires until I had the Land Rover and I would say that these are the worst mud tire I have ever used but they're not really made for that mud packs in between these voids really tight and it doesn't really let go until you get back on the road it seriously will hold mud all day if you're in mud all day but I think this will be very beneficial in the snow because I think snow is going to hold into the tire nice and tight and help give you a little bit more flotation and stick to the other snow now there's multiple types of snow if you're in soft powder this is just gonna probably go to the bottom and because it's a small tire it's only like a 32 or something it's going to dig down and probably high center but if you could compare this to a 40 inch tall mud terrain I expect that a 40 inch tall ko2 would be outstanding in the snow and definitely outperform a mud terrain overall I want to be crystal clear I do not think that the Land Rover is gonna outperform my Jeep in the snow my Jeep is on 40s and it's on bead locks and I like to run about 1 psi in the snow I can't do that with the Land Rover the Jeep is gonna have tons of flotation but I do think that I'm gonna take this Land Rover up to the mountains this winter and I'm gonna enjoy the hell out of it for being on thirty ones and being something that has no lockers I really think it's gonna perform well considering the circumstances if you're somebody who's watching this video because you're in the market for tires and you're possibly looking at buying these I hope that this video gives you the information you need to decide if this will match the kind of train that you like will these be the last tires I ever owned they definitely will not I like owning different sets of tires and seeing the pros and cons of different brands makes models of everything I like lots of different makes of vehicles I like lots of different makes of tires but I live in Washington and I have a long wet muddy winter ahead of me and I'm excited that I have a really good mud terrain to use all the way until next summer whenever things start to dry back up if you want to see more view videos like this make sure you tell me
