all right it's good to see you this morning folks hadn't seen one another in a long time that's fine that's fine just kind of makes it gives you a little imagination what it's going to be like in heaven you know all of us seen each other for hadn't seen you know since they passed away and the lord's up there trying to get something started but can't get something started because we're down you know we're talking and fellowshipping but i'm glad to see that that's good welcome to victory baptist church if you've never been if you're a visitor with us today and we appreciate you coming so much my name is bob wilson i am privileged to be the pastor here pastor hyde went to be with the lord april of 15 and matter of fact just about a week a week away we'll be honoring his memory but it's so good to see you now this is what we're going to do okay i'm we're going to have prayer and then i'm going to ask brother guthrie to come up and introduce brother archie don't be mad at me brother okay please all right and don't don't y'all get up and leave either when you you gotta know guthrie okay and uh he's uh he's he's guthrie brother watkins is gonna sing for us this morning and then we'll take a break and then we'll start again at 11 o'clock we'll have our morning opening services song offering and announcements and things like this a few short words from the word this is resurrection sunday this is the day that we celebrate some people don't like the word celebrate in relation to christ but we rejoice i guess it's a matter of words sometimes the christians don't go to the beach we go to the coast all right so it's but it's a matter of words semantics but we here to celebrate for it not for the risen savior we would not be here we really wouldn't so i thank the lord for it well without any further ado let me open us with a word of prayer and then we'll ask brother guthrie to come and introduce our special guest this morning and father i as always lord we the service is yours i want it to be i know that people our workers wanted to be and father we want you please to have your way and father we pray that you will be pleased at the end of the service so father please have thy own way we give the service to you ourselves and i ask now that you'll bless thank you for these that are here today i pray that you'll speak to hearts thank you for our risen savior thank you so much and i guess if we didn't see anything else in the morning on resurrection sunday but just thank you thank you i pray in jesus name now that you'll bless this time have thine own precious way for it's in jesus name that we pray amen all right let's be kind to this man and show them some love let's give brother guthrie a good hand would you do that please amen see what i mean hallelujah is everybody happy today how many come to have church this morning well i was talking to brother archibald down in tennessee last year when they gave him a great big old diamond award can you believe that yeah jerry golf had to do that thing up there that day well anyway it's a pleasure to be here this morning this seemed like home to me i remember one time when uh martin cook kept calling me about getting the inspiration through here and uh brother hyde you'd have to know him he was a super guy i mean he's in heaven tonight and i'm looking forward to meeting him up there and one of these days ain't going to be long at my age i can tell you that i just had my 93rd what's the matter this thing is just like brother wilson's just all the time turning around trying to get away from you and i went into his office he said what you got on your mind i said well you've been trying to get me to get the inspirations in you i said i can get them i need a church he said you got it i said do what said you got them i said you mean to tell me you're not going to have to have a meeting in here and get the board to approve it if they don't like it they're going to fire you he's i'm the pastor here let don't you forget that i mean he bowed up real big right quick let me know who the pastor was i said amen i can deal with you then long story short i brought him on in and he didn't tell me that they had was ken folks do you know you got 10 folks here in this church this morning so you better behave yourself oh lord did you hear that he said he's kind to me my lord have mercy god forgive him for that well anyway i've been knowing this boy for a long time i was talking to jerry goff the other day i was telling brother wilson about this how many remember jerry golf man look at the hands in there that don't know him god bless you he's you're lucky do you know what he said to me how many remembers archie bonker his very words he said he said you mean to tell me you didn't make a mistake i said excuse me he said you sure you didn't make a mistake and get archie bunkers did you arch your watch because i said he said i said no this is what you're watching he said no they're both just about like well anyway let me get my glasses out here when you get arches age you have to use these things well you know he started out 2007. then they inducted him into the gulf southern gospel music hall of fame this man here that's in nashville tennessee right you don't get no higher than that next you go to heaven so then he was with the inspirations for 45 years singing and i guess he taught them everything they know then in uh last year a year before last wasn't it done in pigeon forge we went down i got a call from a fellow jerry golf and telling me about it he said we got a surprise for you i said well you're full of those come down here and he told me when i got there i said uh we're going to present archie watkins with a diamond award for being in gospel music all these years over 50 some years now and i was talking to brother archer aren't you about this the other day i'd give the lord the praise and the credit for every bit of it and we had church last night i've been in gospel music over 65 years i've seen the good the bad and and everything but had another good override the bad and uh carolyn and i back there before i got out there last night people come telling me said this is the best singing you've ever had here in over 65 years amen somebody say amen so then we got out in the car and got ready to leave the man living over gloucester come holland told me he said brother sorry i've been knowing you for years it's the best thing you've ever had i said don't tell arch you that for god's sakes and i wouldn't tell him this morning either but we appreciate it and we thank you thank god for him being you and i want to thank you for brother wilson i've been knowing this man for a long time and we're good friends and not only good friends and good brothers in the lord but we love each other and we understand each other we're all the same road there's only one road into heaven no other way and brother wilson are on the same road and uh while talking about brother archer coming up here i said now we want you to have church and what he said if i can't tell church is not worth coming that's what he said except the spirit is not there the holy ghost is not there why come and i've been knowing him and knowing these inspirations for years and years and years now he owns them now would you give me a break and we're part of it thank you brother archie would you make welcome brother aren't you come on brother sing for us this morning hallelujah amen somebody say praise the lord would you stand and welcome this man stand and welcome a man of god please look there brother come here brother look here how about that go for it well brother you so much it's an honor to be here i got to find somewhere to set my water i'm old and i have to take a little water with me and uh i told them one day i said i'm gonna sing till the water runs out and my wife started pouring half of it out when she give me a bottle of water well it's good to be here you know why you're happy the spirit of the lord the bible says where the spirit of the lord is there's peace and happiness and i appreciate the movement of the holy spirit of god now the lord won't move when we get grumpy and disgruntled and trying to find something wrong so you just think about how good it is to be in church this morning and be on the lord's side that's the best place you can be is on the lord's side i hope everybody's saved this morning ready to meet the lord i sing songs that the inspiration sung down through the years and tell a little story about most of my songs and and i'll start out this morning by singing a song that i guess means more to me than anything a preacher down in valdosta georgia uh we met him in 1969 and he was a good preacher a great preacher and he started writing songs and he wrote we we recorded the first song of his in 1970 obey the spirit of the lord uh he wrote is that footsteps that i hear that we sung he wrote the song i can't even walk without you holding my hand and uh he brought us a song and he said where he pastored a church there in valdosta that on monday a lady called his home and said she was crying wanted to be saved she was under conviction he said me and my wife went over to the church and met with her and led her to the lord and he said she went out the door rejoicing and praising the lord and he said me and my wife started to go home said to god about the second pew and the lord spoke to me you know what just happened and he said i stopped and said what lord the lord said i just used you for my holy spirit to flow through you to help somebody and he said i sat down on the second pew and five minutes the lord gave me this song boy if you want to help somebody if you want things to be good get your life where the holy spirit can flow through you and you can do something for the lord i want you to help me sing this chorus flow through me holy spirit flow through me a useful vessel let me be let me day of shouting shouting on that happy morning when we all shall ride all day of glory glory hallelujah glory when we meet [Music] we begin to see singing in the holy ghost how the heavens will ring millions there will join the song with them we shall be praising christ through wages long term [Music] shall rise [Music] on that happy morning [Music] when we meet our blessed savior in the sky [Music] this is a song a lady wrote this song about her neighbor it's a true story listen [Music] it was at a little front porch sale she stopped to look around she saw those two shoes sunday slippers a bargain to be found but her husband didn't know the lord so what good were they to him but god said just believe you will receive so she took him at his word time passed on and she wondered if she'd ever see the day he'd wear those two shoes sunday slippers and did the church house make his way then it happened on one sunday morning as she started out the door he said wait for me she turned to see those two shoes walking across the floor and there were two shoes a prayer and a promise god would keep to save the soul of the one who wore those two shoes on his feet [Music] there were two shoes a prayer and a promise god [Music] the preacher told of calvary of the old rugged cross how that jesus came and gave his life to save all the laws then he gave the invitation and she saw what brought a smile she saw those two shoes sunday slippers go walking [Music] down and there were two shoes a prayer and the promise kept so sweet god saved the soul of the one who wore those two shoes place to stop serving the lord amen god is good this next song was written by a dear friend brother lance carpenter he was down in anderson south carolina later on moved to florida retired down there and and he was uh writing a song whenever i left the inspirations in 2009 he'd been telling me about this song he was writing and and uh so uh he sent it to me in january right after i left the group and uh he called me and said i've got my song finished i want you to sing it and i said well brother lance i've i've resigned from traveling with the inspirations and i don't know what i'm going to be doing and he said well it don't matter to me i want you to sing this song and i said well tell me a little bit about it he said i got an email he said i don't know who sent it to me but it was a story about a man who had gone by the doctor's office early one morning said the man was in a big hurry and the nurse asked him why he was in such a big hurry and he said i go every morning and have breakfast with my wife she's in a nursing home and that nurse said i'll bet that really excites your wife and he said no she she don't remember me she said well why is it so important to be on time he said she don't remember me but i remember her he said i got to thinking about how we do the lord god started dealing with me to write this song we've forgotten the lord america has forgotten the lord he's never forgotten us i sang this song in sweetwater tennessee at a church and the pastor told me said my mother died from alzheimer's and he said when the doctor diagnosed her sickness said she called me and wanted me to come see her he said i went to see mama and she said now son you know where this sickness is gonna take me and before i get too far along with it i wanted you to come and let me look you face to face and tell you that i know that i know that i know my name is written in the lamb's book of life should the day come when i can't remember him he will remember me you listen if i can find the button to push old age [Music] i'm about as old as guthrie saw [Music] years now this sickness has robbed her it seems to get worse every day [Music] she's always confused by her memory even forgetting her sweet husband's name yet he's holding her hand at her bedside he comes every day right on time though she hasn't known him for years now he keeps this one thought in his heart and his mind she said i know my name's written in heaven with all of the saved and redeemed [Music] and should the day come when i can't remember him he will remember [Music] yes he will remember me aren't you glad he said i'll never leave in our forsaken amen [Music] someday i may not remember jesus my dear savior's name [Music] i may not recall my family i may not remember the day i was safe but i know my name's written in heaven with all of the saved and redeemed and should the day come when i can't remember him he will remember me [Music] i may walk through the valley of the shadow of death but i know his face i shall see he said he would never believe nor forsake me and i know that jesus will remember me remember me and i know my name's written in heaven [Music] with all many things have happened that's clouded up by mine but i am more determined to walk the narrow way i've got more to go to heaven for than i had yesterday there's a golden street to walk upon a bell i'm going to ring a brand new angel in the choir [Music] when i walk through the gate i've got more to go to heaven for than i had yesterday i've been through lonesome valleys i've climbed the highest hill i've known the joy of living in the center of god's will i've watched the angels come and take my loved ones home to stay i've got more to go to heaven for than i had yesterday [Music] to wait when i walk through the gate i've got boards to go to heaven floor that i had just helped me stay there's a golden street to walk upon a bell i'm [Music] [Applause] [Music] i've got to go to heaven for that i had yesterday yesterday [Music] this next song i had a request to sing a preacher wrote this song from down in mount airy north carolina and he told me what inspired him to write the song he said my daughter-in-law is 22 years old and said her mother was dying with cancer in her early 40s and he said my daughter-in-law prayed and believed that god was going to heal her mother but said god didn't heal her he took her on the glory and said my daughter-in-law was discouraged in her faith and he said i wanted to encourage her in her faith and he said every time i talk to her i'd find myself saying if you only knew if you could just see your mother now if you only knew if you could speak to your mother now if you only knew and he said i finally realized that god was giving me the words to a song and this song has really helped a lot of everywhere i go people ask me to sing it maybe it'll be a blessing to you if you only knew [Applause] [Music] have you prayed for a loved one struggling hard with pain you asked the lord for healing but healing never came and in spite of all your efforts the good lord called them home it's hard to let go when you're trying to hold on now you're down in the valley [Music] looking up to the sky you're praying lord you know what's best i don't understand why if you could hear your loved one speaking now to you [Music] they'd say you wouldn't be breathing if you owned me if you only do i'm just going home listen right here your prayers have been answered my sickness is gone things look much the sun always shines we're having a time if you only knew [Music] to be absent from the body is present with the lord [Music] i'm in the arms of jesus now i'm not suffering anymore hand in hand we'll stroll together down heaven's avenue oh what a celebration if you owe me if you only knew [Music] i'm just going home your prayers have been answered my sickness is gone things look much better [Music] the sun always [Applause] [Music] decided to put it on here you know i just put it on here really to have a fast song you know we've sung so many slow ones and and i knew the song and everybody knows the song so we put it on the album and i believe it's the most popular one on there i don't know whether it's got a i don't know whether it's because it's got bluegrass music on it but it's got a banjo and a lot of bluegrass picking so i want you to help me sing it if i said it out of the old church the old red church hymnal if i said it's page 333 would you know what i'm talking about now you bluegrass pickers ought to know this what page it is on the old red church hymnal page 333 i'll fly away do you know i'll fly away i want you to help me sing it now it moves on out we're going to sing all three verses and raise it up on
