[Music] howdy Banger Pals bla Smith welcoming you to another Overkill reviews Banger weekly Metal review show I know some of you have been wondering where our review of the new Judas Priest is well if you've been waiting with baited breath then I have a special treat for you here you go [Music] [Music] yes of course I'm talking about things I want to talk about it's the new album from Antichrist Siege machine called Vengeance of Eternal fire it's coming out April 19th which is next Friday on profound Laur records there was some scheduling issues but this is my most anticipated album of the year so there's no way I'm not reviewing it as a result won't be able to have any fresh clips for you but there is two singles out so I I'll be at least be able to play some music Richmond Virginia's guitar and drums two-piece have been around since 2016 but it was really 2019s purifying blade that made a splash in away almost no war medal has ever done before yes yes I know blasphemy but they've accured their attention over like decades and ASM seem to have sort of just exploded into everyone's attention they mixed amazing music with the whole kind of merch monster thing all the hot bands are doing right now but with a DIY twist that a lot of the others are lacking Now what are my personal expectations for the record well considering I choose to work in front of a Antichrist Siege machine flag I I think we can say uh quite hot I'm of course talking about compromise and as much as I hate to say something as banala this is a no compromises record it's sort of a no compromises record unlike a lot of War metal it does seem like anti Siege machine want people to like them and don't want to toil away in the shadows but they're not going to make music they don't want to make to achieve that the record just Dives in with a full Blast Of War metal no dipping the toe in the water to acclimatize you just Joe Rogan jumping right into that ice [Music] bath every [ __ ] day man what a weird man uh from there it's just 10 tracks of wall to--all pummeling with the only bit of reprieve coming by way of like some feedback at the end of the record that could just be your ears ringing after being battered this whole time speaking of not compromising they aren't compromising on album length either with this being their shortest record to date at 252 minutes is that a record is that an EP I don't know but after all the bloat I hear doing this it's great to see a band not slaving themselves to some arbitrary number the record feels great and complete so who cares if it's 8 minutes that was their demo their demo was 8 minutes so I guess Yeah by that standard this is a fulllength release I'm of course talking about accessibility I know I know that's an especially dirty word for this style of music but it is maybe the most accessible War metal has ever been but Blain how can a record be no compromises but also accessible well in the world of beastial black they're not the most beastial I've certainly heard more punishing records but it doesn't feel like they're trying to be less punishing it just feels like there's as much a punk band in there as there is a metal band the fact that there are two piece the AFF forementioned way they run their merch door these are things that feel like a punk band and when they slow things down on the record like at the end of track 2 only evil there's a Punky stomp to The rhythms that has a larger effect in the comparatively minor time they spend in this style would suggest it doesn't betray War metal because it's a genre that's rooted in punk as well ASM just seemed better at utilizing it than many other I say many about the smallest of metal sub genres they're better at utilizing it than a lot of other no that still sounds ridiculous they're better than other beastial bands at doing it I'm of course talking about variety the guys again get a ton of mileage out of relatively small amounts of changes that just help break up the monotony of War metal and boy at this point it sounds like I really don't like War metal I love war metal there's just a lot about the genre that make it a kind of Walled Garden that's difficult for most metal heads to access and ASM just have a talent for Sid stepping the pitfalls without fundamentally stepping away from the genre and it's not always in less harsh ways either like with the punk the punk what am I 95 piled swine has a guitar solo that sounds closer to Power Electronics than anything that normally comes out of a guitar and Power Electronics is definitely not a more accessible sub genre similarly the drum roll to start cicus sounds more like an extended fill which breaks up the consistent blast beats uh but with the same energy and intensity you get from a blast feet and drum variety is a really really big strength here and it's all the more impressive when you consider Scott is also doing main vocals and still drumming at the same time and I say that that's impossible I was always maintain that's impossible and everyone doing it is a liar pulling off some David Blaine Chris Angel Mind Freak [ __ ] I've seen them live twice and I haven't figured figured out how they're working the smoke and mirrors but I will I'm of course talking about fun and I left this for last because it feels like it's the biggest xfactor for the band Yes I'm watching the new X-Men cartoon I'm enjoying it it's cheesy it's goofy it's fun comment down below it feels like the biggest xfactor for a band that's in a genre where everybody else is completely lacking this like War metal sense of humor is generally hey wouldn't it be funny if we were active white supremacists so it's just refreshing to their silly shirt descriptions or go to the merch table and see a bumper sticker that says my other car is an antichrist Siege machine it's like watching office space next to Lady Ballers because it translates in the music as well the record sounds more like a band out to have a good time than a band with something to prove cuz they were bullied too much or something uh everything I've talked about feels like it emphasizes this a and and to further listen to this clip water and is it just me or does that sound like War metal pill Dick Dale did that make sense to you if it did our Patron campaign might be right for you you give us a couple bucks I don't need to sell you uh some garbage here and you get a little extra bonus video from blae every week I'm making a new video I'm filming editing them myself I had some goofy fun with the one that came out this week so go on over there tosses a couple bucks if you don't mind thank you I don't know if there'll ever be a perfect War metal record cuz it feels like an intentionally imperfect sub genre but Antichrist Siege machine have got real darn close I obviously had very high expectations for the record and the fact fact that it didn't disappoint oh boy I'm absolutely thrilled so far they've got a a real album of the Year nomination coming for me and unless something comes out that just totally surprises me y'all are going to have a tough time stealing this spot wof I love the record 4 and a half out of five skulls with that bumper sticker on them thus we come to shoutouts time I actually only have one shout out for you this week because look I'm making a lot of videos right now and I'm I'm I'm you're milking me for all bands I got my teeths are sore but regardless I have one band that I think goes with the vibe that we've got here replicant infinite mortality on our Pal's transcending obscurity coming out today April 12th so it can Tide you over it's just some weird technical strange death metal so there's a nice record for you what do you think of the new Antichrist Siege machine do you care is this exciting uh I'm very excited I'm so excited it feels like it's a big record coming out so let me know down below thanks for hanging out with me I'll see you next week gang [Music]
