[Music] hey Marcus Hutzel here and I wanted to do a quick video on these anchor Gan Prime Chargers because I recently bought as you can see a couple um really based on the fact that I saw them randomly on YouTube on Aaron perecki's Channel thank you Aaron for doing a quick video on those now I bought these with my own money and I wanted to do a video because I needed to choose between these two I didn't have a need for both of them they're 100 bucks or 100 bucks plus for each one and I wanted to see which one would work best I originally bought the 737 because of its small size and I was actually quite surprised at how compact this is and then I bought the 747 now I didn't need this for power this one is 120 watts total on the 737 which is more than enough for my 14 inch M1 MacBook Pro this is the model the 2022 model that has all the ports HDMI port SD card Port three Thunderbolt three ports Etc so this is the 14 inch model so the 737 is plenty enough power to provide full power to the 14 inch MacBook Pro but it had one flaw with it that I don't think is really a flaw it's more of a an ergonomic issue that I think might be an issue for some people and I'll get to that in just a sec so I bought the 747 because I think this solves what I needed it to solve and because of their design they do have flip out prongs that plug in and this one being slightly long and the prongs being on the end instead of on the side this is obviously really good if you're going to plug into a power strip and have it sit vertically and have the cables come out the top however if you notice Apple's design of their Chargers they've always had the prongs flip out here and when you put these into an outlet the bottom of the charger sits against the wall and it's harder for these to pull out of the outlet and the 747 is designed very similarly in more of a square design so it will do the same thing you plug it into the outlet and it will provide some strain relief so it won't pull out I thought the 737 was probably going to have a problem in terms of will it actually stay in the outlet if you're plugging it into the wall horizontally because it is actually longer than the 747 and center of gravity is further out then you've got cables coming out of the back if plug this in depending on the age of the outlet and how well it grips the prongs I thought this was probably going to pop out and actually in some of the outlets around my house I tried this and it did want to slip out fairly easily and I think if you're traveling say in a hotel and you can only really you know have a wall socket perhaps or maybe even in your home if that's all you have the 737 might pose a bit of a problem plugging directly into the wall so I was a little afraid that the 747 was going to be too large like I wouldn't want to carry it around however these are my two apple Chargers this one is the 96 watt that goes with and came with my Apple 14 inch M1 MacBook Pro this is the 61 Watt it came with my 2021 M1 MacBook Pro so this is the the very first M1 MacBook Pro the 13-inch that only has the two USB C ports or Thunderbolt ports on the side and its charger it came with this one so this is the smaller of my Chargers but the 747 as you can see is actually even smaller than my smallest apple adapter it's it's just a hair thicker it's not even a quarter of an inch thicker so if we do this maybe I'll throw in some b-roll of a top-down shot maybe I won't I guess you'll find out when you watch this but basically they're about the same thickness as you can see the 747 is smaller than even my 13 inch M1 MacBook Pros charger and it's definitely smaller than the 96 watt that came with a 14 inch and one MacBook Pro [Music] foreign remember that neither of these models have internal batteries these models both require you to plug them into an external power source like your regular wall outlet to be able to pass that power along to your devices so both models actually do ship with this silicone stabilizer piece which is meant to go on the end like so and help this stay in the wall via the suction cups however as you can see this adds quite a bit of size to the charger I didn't realize it shipped with this because it's not advertised on the box it's not shown it might be listed I'll let you know in a minute but when it ships it doesn't it's not apparent that it's in the Box because it ships like this when you open the box there's the charger I took it out I figured that was it however if you lift this up I may have not been aware because it I think it was actually suction cupped down there and I wasn't aware it was in there so yeah both models the 737 and the 747 ship with these silicone stabilizers but again the apple ones don't have to have that they're secure in themselves and even though I didn't see this in the 737 box and I didn't get a chance to test it at least anchor thought of it they thought of something to help your charger stay in the wall but I'm just not a big fan of suction cups I find that various things over the years with suction cups for me they didn't last the suction either they got dirty they got worn out and it didn't stick you know this one seems to work pretty well but this is also now something else I'm going to have to remember to take it adds size and just more stuff I have to put in my bag and when you add this you lose the size benefits of buying a smaller charger this is the point for me of buying this to have a smaller charger that can charge more things smaller than the charger that comes with my 13-inch and one MacBook Pro and if I now have to carry this around for either this charger or the 737 then I've kind of lost the benefits of having a smaller and more compact charger and so honestly I'm not going to carry this around and I don't think I would carry it around for the 737 either but that's my choice and how I feel about it your mileage may vary I am glad they thought about having it I'm a little embarrassed that I didn't realize it came shipped in the Box So yeah thank you anchor but I still think that the 747 for me is better than the 737 I still think the 737 is better when you plug it in vertically versus this one you can still plug in to the wall it's going to hold better in the wall even without the suction cup so that's my two cents so long story short I'm totally fine carrying this much smaller charger instead of having to carry just the Apple charger because again the Apple charger is only going to charge just my laptop whereas the Anker 747 will power not only my laptop but have plenty of power left over for two of the USBC ports and a USB a port to power things like my iPhone my Apple watch all all of my Apple accessories it will power but it can also charge anything else I need to charge be it you know my rode Wireless go or even I can charge an external battery so I can carry an extra battery around to charge things on the go and if I plug this in you can see here in the system report that I'm getting a full 100 watts of power from the Anker 747 Gan Prime charger on my 14 inch MacBook Pro so for me 747 is worth the extra price because of my belief that it's ergonomics are going to hold up better plugging into a wall outlet and not to mention that of course on the 747 on your left you get an additional USBC Outlet on there that's always handy charge more stuff again the 737 is plenty enough power to power a 14-inch and my MacBook Pro Plus have additional Outlets but I just thought 747 being so small it really is it really is so small and Tiny and nice uh this is the one for me so that's it just thought I'd give my feedback I will be sending this one back I have no need for two right now went with 747 you pick and choose what you like but that's what I got that's all I'm happy with it so far good luck have fun [Music]
