I might regret the decision I've just made I'm in Squamish Frank needs to go to the vet to have a follow-up appointment and it's going to be warm it's going to be busy I do tend to avoid it this time of year there's a bit of a heat wave and instead of stressing out about parking because there's hundreds of vans in town right now and driving down back roads spending the money on gas stressing wear and tear all that I've just decided to set up here at the chief Campground and that way I have a place I know I can park and it's very shady it's cool and I think it's going to be the best option and I won't get stuck driving way down some Logging Road just to spend the night when I'm gonna be doing a bunch of stuff in town seeing friends going to appointments that kind of thing so it will get quite busy here on the weekend which is why I say I might regret this but um hoping for the best and yeah I just went into town to just do some quick chores get some groceries I got Frank a donut because it has been a while since he's had one of those [Music] thank you [Music] [Music] thank you [Music] foreign [Applause] week more than a week since I've checked in with you I last checked in with you I think like right before we went to the vet or something so um it didn't go horrible but also didn't go quite as good as I hoped it would they did a quick ultrasound and so his bladder's fine whatever was going on is totally cleared up and stayed away um if you don't know what I'm talking about uh there's older videos last time I was here about it I'll put them wherever they go um so then the doctor checked the lumpiano's anal gland and it hadn't changed which was good I mean it's always good if you have a weird bump that is not changing and we did his blood work and unfortunately some of the chemistry came back a little weird um most of it is really good really healthy for his age but there was some um factors that just normally would be associated with like a really sick dog and he's not sick he's eating fine he's drinking fine he's sleeping um he's not like showing any like signs of distress or anything he's in a good mood so it's just like a little weird um and inconclusive and um it is totally possible that they were caused by the fact I fed him a donut right before going to get the blood work and so the donut was mostly peanut butter it was really fatty so that could have caused those numbers So the plan is to get him checked in White Horse just to check his blood chemistry again when we get up there and um yeah just keep an eye on things the other thing was he had a little bump on his belly by where one of his mast cell tumors had been removed and so I got that and I got the bump in his um anal gland tested and so both of those came back with no concerning cells which is really awesome um it's not like a hundred percent that there's no problem but like I'm just gonna move forward as if there's no problem um they're just uh the one on his belly was just a fatty lump which is normal for dogs especially of his age and um yeah same with the one in his anal glands it was really good uh really really mostly good news all around I know he's like you know he's getting older and um yeah we're just he's never gonna be as healthy as he was when he was younger and that's that's just the way life goes so yeah that was awesome to get all that checked out it took a little longer than expected we had to have some extra appointments and stuff so um yeah but we just got the last of the good news a couple days ago oh and so I've been like visiting friends and mostly just hanging out here at the campground which I thought I would really regret staying at but it turns out it is quite quiet aside from the highway in the distance which isn't that bad until bikers go by but like for the most part um everyone in the campground is like really quiet and chill it's not like big RVs and families and people with generators and stuff uh it's you know van people car campers and a lot of tents so it's been really quiet people just leave during the day they're going climbing they're going on adventures and so it's really chill here and then they come back in the evening they eat dinner and they go to bed and so it's actually been one of the nicer Campground experiences I've had for being somewhere so busy there's like 50 Drive-In sites here and like they're mostly full all the time especially on weekends but a few days ago I moved to a different site where there's a few hours of really good Sun so I could put up my solar panel and charge because I've really just been spending the past um like week and a half that I've been in town here editing and working and just doing some stuff I behind the scenes and getting caught up on some stuff and it's also been nice to like not really film is that I've just focused on editing and closing the gap between real life and videos so like this video will only be two weeks yeah as opposed to like I had been up to like six so it feels really good what didn't feel good though was a few days ago I went to take Frank for a walk on a really accessible path and I go to the van I walk in my van and somebody just like yells at me like can I use you as click bait like out of nowhere I don't know this woman um I at all I have no idea who she is at this point in time the way I operate is I like taking as much information as I can when I feel like kind of threatened by somebody because yelling can I use you as clickbait is to me extremely dehumanizing um it is another way of saying hi you don't know me but I want to use you to my benefit um she just came out of nowhere and then like so yeah I some I like eye drop you know minivan cats like tons of junk all over it um pretty wretched vibes from this woman and of course like that's a weird thing to open a conversation with so I was just kind of stunned and then she says my name and I'm like I don't know you and she just like tries to make some excuse about how she thought it'd be funny and then like kind of hoft and stomped her feet and then drove off um so that really sucked and I took Frank for a walk and as I'm walking I'm realizing that she's probably the same woman I had been warned about in the past who had harassed some other YouTubers I come back to the campground and I check my messages and I have a message from her calling me which like what um so uh yeah she was the woman I had been warned about and so ever since I have just decided not to drive anywhere and I'm just staying in the campground until I can leave town which I'm waiting for a package or I would already be gone for now I'm just hiding out uh because I do not want to risk encountering her again or her seeing my van out and about and using it as clickbait or to her benefit because her channel is really nasty and yeah and so I've decided not to name her because that's what she wants she thrives off drama but um there is a really important lesson in this for everyone which is why I'm even sharing the story is that I cannot count the amount of times I have heard other people say that like all van lifers are awesome or put call outs like any van lifeers around like let's hang out um on this assumption that like all van lifers are nice people they're good people they're kind people and that is not true that is absolutely not true it is not true with any hobby or lifestyle or identity you may hold just because somebody has something in common with you does not make them a good person in my almost 10 years on the road now I have met all different types of van lifers and I can tell you that every type of people that exist in the world exist living in the in a van or RV or nomadically and there's some real shitty people on the road some of them are on the road because they're shitty people and because all they've done in their lives is burn Bridges because they're miserable nasty people who can't make friends and can't maintain connections and so they live on the road um because they're just not welcome in places after long and then that way they can always just prey on people that don't yet know what kind of person they are and don't assume that anyone is inherently good because of a hobby or a lifestyle I made that mistake when I was climbing that I mean all climbers were just awesome people and I welcomed some people into my life who ended up stealing a lot of stuff sentimental stuff cash anything valuable um from me and yeah it hurt and it hurt and it was a hard lesson to learn but it's a lesson that um maybe you don't have to learn the hard way because I've shared this just be a little cautious with new people and just know that like you know lifestyle and activities and hobbies and identities do not equate to morality or quality of character you can come inside Frank foreign another thing I did during my time in Squamish was to rig the GoPro on Frank's chariot dubbing it Chariot cam I think it worked pretty well it's been fun to see kind of Frank's point of view and I always like to see his ears from behind which is something I haven't seen hiking in quite a long time but he loves his Cherry you can see he just gets really engaged and sniffs around and is just so into it so I'm very very happy with this purchase um and yeah we've been making lots of great use out of it so yeah hopefully you enjoyed Chariot cam because I've been filming it quite a bit [Music] all right so I just got back from town it was a big day my package arrived this is what I've been waiting for is this custom hoodie it's got this cool pattern in the pocket and I know you're gonna ask about it because everyone has asked so many times about my green one this is a different company this one is provisioning to get ready to hit the road tomorrow I'm so excited we're going to be driving across BC first to my storage locker but I got Frank a bed oh isn't that nice bud you like that yeah it looks small but it's the right size for your chariot he's never had a dog bed so I got him his first ever dog bed because it fits in his Chariot and I put on the ground in the store and he just loved it so um yeah it's pretty cool so he'll be super comfy in his Chariot on walks and in Camp and I got him tons of treats uh just because yeah we're gonna be um North for quite a while and we'll be up for his birthday so I wanted to be well stocked for his birthday and yeah just uh make sure he has lots of good high value treats for the summer because I figure they're probably just a lot more expensive in Whitehorse than down here so yeah I just did some odds and ends and stuff that I needed like eye wipes and eye drops and things like that that I always stock up when I'm in town here so tomorrow we're going to start our drive across BC I have to go to my storage locker and then from there it is Northbound I am so stoked do you love your new bed is this the comfiest thing ever Frank oh my goodness you still have to take the tags off it's a little small as a ground bed but it fits perfectly in your chariot Frank don't worry about it I tested it all right but you got your bed in there you look so comfy I got a treat for you you were such a good boy you were so patient to shopping today thank you and we got poo bags so we're ready the Poo bags in there and we have some
