An Amazing One Of A Kind Gibson!

[Music] [Music] this might be the coolest sg ever in history all right maybe it's not that cool but it's really cool and you might be looking at it and think it's just a normal sg but you're wrong it's modded to the teeth now this is a sweet saturday so that means it's sponsored by sweetwater they gave us this guitar and they did all of the mod work that i'm getting ready to tell you about to give away to one of you guys boom that's what we're talking about today so yes this is going to be given away to one of you guys we've also got to talk about who won that les paul tribute from a few actually have this same model of sg that i'm going to compare here in a minute so you guys can hear the modded versus the unmodded version but they have just done so many cool things to this guitar sweetwater actually offers something called the guitar workshop where they can do anything as simple as like put your favorite strings on a guitar to basically doing everything to it and that's what we did we were going through the list of mods and we're like let's do them all so let's start talking about the kitchen sink aka the sg mods so for starters i really like the original pickups that do come in the guitar and you actually have everything that we changed sweetwater included all of that stuff it's in the case for you you can change it back if you want to but why you want to do that bro so we changed the pickups to pearly gate seymour duncan's i've always wanted to try these pickups never played them before and they absolutely did not disappoint obviously a huge billy gibbons fan so i was kind of jumping at the opportunity to throw some pearly gates in here and the next thing we had changed was the frets this is a huge thing that i always see people talk about they want stainless steel frets on everything so that's what we did we had them change into stainless steel frets but that also means that the guitar was no longer plucked so we also had to get it plucked now let's mosey on down here because we changed a few things as well oh did someone say locking tuners i just did boom that's what we did to it also change this nut to bone as well so so far we've got new pickups stainless steel frets plucked bone nut locking tuners strap blocks anyone we also have strap locks put on this so the final thing that i want to talk about that they did to it was this crazy wiring option that they added which i'll actually cover all of that here in the tone section because there's three different push-pull pots on here this is not a tone knob it's a base contour really really cool fancied up wiring so let's hear [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] so [Music] back [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so let me run you through the different tone options here real quick of this new wiring so when you're in the bridge position your volume knob is also your coil split so you want to get single coil sounds you got that going on put it back down humbucker mode back engaged moving on to your tone this is not your normal tone control this is actually called a bass contour so slightly different than your normal tone knob when you roll it all the way down it doesn't necessarily get that traditional kind of like woman tone that a lot of people associate with rolling your tone down it has a different flavor to it so i was actually pretty pumped up that one sounded different than your normal bridge hopping up to your neck pickup you have of course a coil split sounds really nice i love it whenever i was shooting the tones and this kicked in really good split sound on these pearly gates put that back down you also have this tone knob now this thing is really cool because this is a tone bypass engage that it bypasses your tone circuit you can do this on the bridge and it goes straight to the output jack think of this like an esquire if you know how that works all you do is you flip that switch up and it goes straight to the bridge bypasses the tone gonna give you a little bit more bite and attack on your notes and one more thing is that this tone whenever it's not engaged but just push down it is a master tone so you can still get the woman tone that we all like to do as soon as we want to play you know some classic [Music] all right then we gotta compare the old sg old crusty plain sg i'm sorry i actually really like my sg to this new fancy one um basically i'm a little bit jealous that i have to give this one away and i gotta keep the old like normal one but it's cool so one of you guys will have this i actually am really considering sending mine to sweetwater to have a couple of things done to it because for one love these pickups but anyways let's compare these two because i do think that this new one sounds noticeably different so real quick little tone comparison of my kind of unmodded sg versus this new and improved super sg [Music] do [Music] so [Music] all right on to what you guys have all been
