hi I'm LB today is my 50th birthday when I got home from Yellowstone Park this week from setting a log house we got news that in Michigan my cousin Samuel and his wife Mary Ellen their 15 year old daughter Kathy was struck by a car and her bicycle and instantly killed so my dad and I flew to Michigan yesterday for the funeral that's where we're at today so let's show you some of that yesterday was the anniversary of the one-year anniversary of when I took my daughter Verena in she was 15 the same age as Kathy who was killed this week here in Michigan so a year ago yesterday was when we arrived here Michigan was exactly one year that I took our daughter to that our local hospital in Montana and she was identified right there with leukemia and so she was taken to Seattle Children's Hospital as many of you know we were there for eight and a half months we came out victorious she was healed the Lord healed our daughter and it could have been otherwise and so it was very emotional for me today for this 15 year old that they are going to bury and so but the Lord is good and the family is doing okay and there was about 1500 people at the funeral so my dad and I are driving out to the gravesite now so this is a funeral area of where Samuel and Mary Ellen live and these people are going to the funeral there's a lot of vans from other states and people from all over so want to show you a little bit of the crowd it's lingering outside them service here and getting ready to you into that gravesite [Music] so I kind of walked away a little bit to get some video of these horses and I'm trying to be honorable and not violate my relatives here the Amish use tractors and here they got two tractors together with chains to tie the horses to it there's a gravesite I don't want to get any closer to out of respect but they tie these chains stretching them tight so they got a place to tie the horses to here's some buggies at my cousin Samuels place lots of horses they all came to do the servicemen horses are with vans if they're farther away here's a bunch of sheep in Samuels barn small horses I used to drive one of these a lot I went out back behind the barn just before lunch we're back from the graveyard and there's some little boys back in the woods I remember doing that as a kid having fun with my friends the white and black suit some cows some kids over there underneath that tree and there's my cousin's Samuels barn silo you got a compressor running and there's a horses buggies this is the morning after the funeral I'm at my cousin's place their kids are out here milking let's have a look at these cows if you like Organic Valley milk this is one of the hundreds of family farmers across the country that produce this really good milk these cows are so gentle they're not even tied up in their stalls they're just go in there by themselves they know their place and then melt once a day they only note one time there's our three-legged dog he does not like me no he likes me but yesterday said didn't he kept fighting my foot so here are the all their young help these are happy toes up bright and early some of them are relaxing already enjoying their morning milk milk the organic Valley farmers have a very high standard the cows in this farm get only grass they don't get grain they just get dressed and it's very healthy milk so you guys enjoy organic valley products you'll be helping them out so this is how this family makes their living and later today we're going to see more of the community the boys wash the milking equipment after the milking is completed and the dog enjoys I'm going to get a view of the neighboring farms there's some cows leaving their barns on the cross the road over there this is my cousin's place where I've been staying for this in the background is a sawmill reject or later today one of their children as a sawmill put a wash on the line you know engines running over here I think maybe I starting the gas-powered washing machine I'm thinking that's what it is they didn't like the charging batteries Joseph here is being a real helper this morning helping with laundry yo that's what I call a good husband soul mate a monster my sister Norma so she's gonna take this pony on a ride on a pony his ginger the pony's name is ginger there she goes with ginger that is a cute pony looks like it's time to put ginger away I'm at my cousin's place another cousin this is a tiny little pony and over there is one of my cousin's sons loading a piece of machinery on a truck they do repairs for farm equipment and they repaired this person's harrell I guess you call it so the cousins have a lot of different businesses this is a tiny little guy we're here in Michigan taking a tour of my cousin's sawmill operation and it's quite an operation look at all these logs the whole place is run by giant natural gas engines they cut lumber out of these logs for pallet material [Music] all gonna find it all hanging on for the pushback at Oliver and the door but such things good looking I was gonna go plug this is my uncle Ezra he owned this Oliver crawler and my dad ran this this crawler he owned it in Indiana in the earliest in the 60s and 70s and I remember as a little boy four or five years old my dad would run this this crawler and here we discovered it and it's a 1952 Oliver so I thought this is really something to come see this old crawler I saw and it would might have my dad would run that when I was a look just a little guy he would have an auger take fence post a little blade to push dirt a little bucket they put on there with a loader and it is quite amazing this whole piece of machinery goes way back I didn't know that machine was still around there goes a team of four horses pulling a power unit and we call it a hate Turner giant rake we're on my cousin Joe's property checking things out here comes a four-horse team pulling a giant hay rake that's a way to get a lot of hate turn in a short time this is by my uncle Melvin's place the first guy here is my dad ora his brother Melvin he come on driving horses they call him buggy horses my dad and I are almost ready to head back to Montana there's somebody spreading manure in the field I'm trying to get a video here of the day after the funeral my cousin Samuel is plays but I can't really be in these people's face there's men all over women that are fixing up the shop cleaning things up cleaning the barn out doing all kinds of things to help them clean and get everything back in place moving things back and into place and so it's big clean-up day here at the Samuel Sam Hills Farm there's somebody cleaning out the barn so that's what they're doing getting everything back into into place I can't be in their face because they don't really like video so to recap two days ago August 10th when I got here from Montana it was exactly one year to the hour that I took my fifteen-year-old Verena to get checked out and she was diagnosed with leukemia and yesterday the day of the funeral August 11th was my 50th birthday and so now we're ready to leave for home the day after the funeral so this whole thing has been emotional for me Kathy who was hit by a vehicle last week was 15 she was a twin to her sister Katie identical twin and my daughter was also 15 a year ago when she had leukemia we brought Barina home she's healed and healthy but Kathy went to heaven so there's lots of sorrow here at grieving but everyone came here to help put the farm back in order and they all helped each other and so that's the story of this last few days what ahora wind so we're gonna say goodbye to Samuel and Samuel will be featured on next week's video of the documentary of our community in 2008 you'll see him walking down the street in a rural setting in Montana with my dad this documentary was taken in 2008 so you get to see Samuel with my dad in that next video we thank you all so much for watching and I just want to share this little journey with you god bless y'all
