American Idol Top 24 Disney in Hawaii Part 1!

uh rumor has it that Platinum ticket turned into some kind of ring Hi how are you I've never thought that my life would bring me here in this context it's amazing you're amazing first of all I watched your audition where you were on the piano the Billy eyh song I was tearing up yeah I would love to get back on that level there I was sick and Hollywood week I had bronchitis going into final judgment I actually already like decided that I was going home we know that what you gave us was not you you are in our top 24 so I know that there's a lot of pressure on this round for me to prove myself what are you singing I'm singing Oceans by Hill song United my soul rest in Abby has an amazing voice she just needs to believe in herself really I'm wondering if we start you with the piano which is your comfort zone right and then you get up and then all of a sudden we see you open up with these big notes and it's kind of this drama you know what I mean I'm used to performing on the street and I sit at my piano it brings me the most Comfort out of anything in the world and this is my first time performing by myself without an instrument to hide behind terrifying screaming crying throwing up but I have a lot to [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] true the greater know where feet may fail so I will call upon your name and keep my eyes above the way when Notions rise my soul will RIS in your Embrace for I am yours and you are m [Music] Spirit me where my trust is without for let me I walk upon the world wherever you would call me take me deep my feet could ever wonder and my P of made experience we saw you start at piano we saw you navigate that we saw you and the background singers have the moment saw you hit the big notes you're definitely one of the Front Runners and one of the favorites she's a platinum ticket [Applause] winner I'm like shaking for you cuz rooting through you so hard and I feel like a performance is all about creating moments and you did exactly that the moment we talked about you know coming out around the piano because I know you said that that was a crutch for you at some points and it didn't feel like that at all it felt like you were a true performer it was your moment you just you took it and killed it it was great you had us all holding our breath when you saw everybody's hand from here to there go up that means they were in the palm of your hand vote everybody vote vote vote vote thank you so much thank you I don't know if I'm allowed to say it but you're my favorite ah I mean I just think you are so gifted and uh when you first came to us you sang a billy ish song and it was just like oh my gosh and you can do like a hill song song and like this is our third time hearing you sing right third yeah the second time you could barely make a note out I had bronchitis that week so really this is kind of like the second time we've heard you sing and I'm just so glad it reminded me of the angel that you are thank you so much just curious how do you put into words what you're feeling inside now I'm looking at my mom right now and she's crying and so I am too I just this has just been the most incredible [Applause] experience heo what's up super nice to see you you too Koo such a sweetheart and such a great songwriter I'm doing a song of mine called how to live without you and it's a song that I wrote for my mom is there a reason why you chose it yeah um she actually passed away a couple years ago so sorry and I figured it just would be like a really cool way to honor her my mom passed away kind of unexpectedly she was a great mom you know like she's she's my best friend and there's so much of her that's like within me I miss your voice I wish I could talk to you she prepared me for life I feel tell you that okay but I'm not as strong as you but she didn't really prepare me for to do when she was gone so this song I wrote it a lot closer to when she passed it was just really helpful for me in the grieving process don't know to live without it was kind of therapy for me than thanks wow um I guess one of my fears is I'm going to like be so encaptured by the moment that I just kind of forget the technical side maybe there's a certain line in song where you're like okay on this line I'm not even going to think about what I sound like because I want this to just be raw emotion I came to Hawaii with her about 10 years ago and so it's weird I'm like getting dja voo when I was 14 and I was with her I'm really excited to dedicate this performance to [Applause] her [Applause] you taught me how to chase away the moner under my bed and when I got a little older the ones inside of my [Music] head it taught me how to stand up keep on living when the world's got me down I know you raised a fighter right now I'm so tired of crying out I miss your voice I wish I could talk to you tell you that okay but I'm not as strong as you no I don't know how to live without [Music] you I know they say it gets easier every day but I'm so afraid if I let you go you'll fade [Music] away I'm your voice I wish I could talk to you tell you that I'm okay but I'm not as strong as you no you made me feel like got a superman but now I'm trying to see myself and I don't think I can cu the one thing you'll never me how to do sh to live without you tell me I don't live without you I don't know how to live without you it breaks our hearts that is such a moving moving song about loss and it's just incredible to see you and you can feel the emotion watching you sing kco thank you man thank you I knew that you were dedicating that song to your mom it's one thing to be an amazing vocalist and you can be the best singer in the world but I think a true artist is somebody who can evoke that emotion and bring us into your world and what you're experiencing and I think you did just that and I just commend you for that I thought it was stunning what you pray for is that when you start singing your original song It's supposed to sound like it's been here forever you accomplish that I love what you did thank you so much l thank you last time you were in Hawaii it was with your mom it was yeah about 10 years ago wow it's been 10 years and coming back to Hawaii you're honoring her with this song I just thought you were a happy songwriter kind of punk pop guy and little did I know that you've been through your trials and tribulations and you write about them so many people are relating to you and you you have that substance but you also know how to rock it I I really hope that America votes you and because you belong there W there you go thank you ktie thank you thank you you keep giving us these original songs that are really really well done yeah I mean do I want to pick apart every vocal aspect of that performance node I had the same thought but then like I would not be able to sing that song right you get through the thing and get to the next round but your songwriting is something A+ special and something to behold so great job you know during rehearsal for the song it was cloudy for most of the performances and then when KO came up here to sing that song the clouds parted and the sun came through and it was a pretty magical and strong moment I love her so much and I miss her every day um and I I love you Mom thanks good night oh I'm a huge fan of Disney my favorite Disney character is Stitch n is contous but I love Stitch I love Tori KY I'm a huge fan of her locally I mean the woman is nuts so I'm torn between two songs and that is Something in the Water by Carrie Underwood and Hollow by Tor Kelly I know that song I hope you know it there must to be something in the water cuz I'm Hollow quavius has crazy vocals H oh my goodness okay so I'm a little biased I think I want you to sing my song like I got excited like hearing your version by doing Hollow I think it showcases a part of his voice that I don't think we've heard yet which is a little more on the pop side and maybe less gospel if we sing a little bit together would that would that help convince you maybe it might I'm torn between these song options because both of them mean a huge thing to me but there's a part of me that is definitely still leaning a little bit more towards Something In The Water but then you have Tory Kelly who begged you to do her song and said it would be an honor what would you [Applause] [Music] do he said I've been aw where you've been before down every hallways a slamming door no way out no one to come and save me wasting a life that the good Lord gave me and somebody saying what I'm saying to you opened my eyes and told me the truth he said just a little faith it'll long get better so I follow that Preacher Man Down To The River and now I change come on and now I'm stronger there must to be something in the [Music] [Applause] water oh there must have been something in the [Applause] water now I'm singing theone to amazing Gra Smile Smile God Almighty I saw the going to look up no turning back give it all that I have trting someone bigger than me ever since the day that I belied I'm just strong yes I there must have been something in the [Applause] water I'm saavi oh my goodness wow first of all I wanted to take my shoe off Chuck it at the stage I'm a little biased you know I wanted you to secretly sing my song it wasn't very secretly actually but at the end of the day I really respect the fact that you said you know what this is where I'm at right now this is the song I'm feeling in my heart and I'm just going to go for it and those high notes whatever notes those were that don't exist incredible yes sir yes sir that's what I'm talking about said it's a church you took charge you see that crowd your job is to take the crowd to the next level that's exactly what you did your vocals were amazing and I don't even know what that note was that you hit that was a great great performance vote vote vote vote vote all it was definitely a baptism the spirit was felt when you first started I was like what is this country Vibe and then you totally like nah I'm going to show you my my real spirit I loved it and I love those notes everybody loves a church moment for sure the main thing about it is the energy that you give us I haven't been to where you sing in church it's not far from me cuz I know you're in Franklin so I might need to come by there and dance in the aisles a little bit with you I think it was a great choice for you Terry Underwood song that you really kind of make your own energetic gospel thing and the people felt it and I've been waiting on some energy tonight and that was big time energy absolutely get on out of here quavius everybody you can vote for him right now online or she just has Powerhouse vocals she's a force when it comes to like your facial expressions if you kind of Channel what the lyrics are saying a little bit I almost want to see a little sassiness I love that I think all Julia really needs to do is really commit to the emotion of the song and what that story is for her even if it's a little bit of acting and just have fun with it too it's such a fun song yeah this is another side of my personality I mean sassy fun upbeat decided to try it [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] out she she ain't real she ain't going to be able to love you like I will she is a stranger you and me got history now don't you remember she's got it all but baby is that really what you want so you got your head in the clch andol out of you and boy she's bringing you ring yes yes I did I got engaged yes I love that congratulations love is wonderful love I loved your performance that last note really reminded me why we made you our Platinum ticket I had never really heard that real low register you were singing in I thought it was wonderful to play with but I thought the low had a lot of a br let's iron a little bit of that out and just keep us excited with the mixture that you do so well thank you what I love about this show is we get to see people like you that come in and they tell us I have trouble with Stage presence I'm not comfortable I'm not confident and you know what you need to look at that performance and be proud of it and be happy thank you and vote so she can keep growing in this show all right come on thank you I really hope America votes I really do because you're so special you have such a powerful voice I would just love to see even more of that emotion of the song come out you're so happy and and genuine I just want to like pull more of that out of you but I mean vocally you nailed it thank you now if I give you one bit of advice if you're going to be able to slay it like that walk the stage Engage The Crowd bring them in milk it but overall it was a great performance for everybody listening vote for God's sakes vote wow a little bit Star Struck Tory Kelly is definitely one of my dream du to sing with so excited aming this is such a spin out seriously oh it's such a what did you say spin out is that like an a yeah it's like oh my God I love it you're teaching me I'm going to be singing Titanium by sea representing the Aussies this has always been a super special song um for me to sing I actually used to play it with my dad quite a lot I was always the bigger kid at my heaviest about 350 lb unfortunately it did lead to me getting teased and bullied it was a pretty dark place for me but music always ended up being that outlet for me and titanium was one of those songs that I really resonated with tit Jordan has this incredible voice and I think for him it's about figuring out where to Showcase all of these different parts of his voice I think softening that section right before it's such a subtle tweak but I think it could be really powerful sure should you sing yes I I'm really excited about singing this song when I was younger I was singing it to get through those tough times but I think now I'm singing this song from a place of strength I think I've kind of come out of the other [Applause] side shut it out but I can't hear word you say I'm talking loud not saying impressive now it's a delicate balance cuz then it could get too runny so just always find that balance you know this is live and everybody is going to be screaming but remember like it plays different on TV nice c i I liked the riskiness of the song choice I don't know if we've had a male singer ever s that it was a great job and it showed us something we haven't seen you do yet so good job on that Jordan you just look so impowered and I know that song is really meaningful for you too so just to see that power come through and all the runs and everything you just so good I loved it thank you TOR appreciate that so much congratulations good job up here me and my family we love Disney so much so getting to stay at Disney's Alani Resort is woo amazing his face is gorgeous it feels crazy to know that actually my voice brought us here that's just mindblowing to me I want to be so bad wow I have chills are you like comfortable with kind of working the stage a little bit more on this one so that is probably like my fear you're 16 right so I was 16 when I did Idol so I already feel like I can imagine what you're feeling Haley is so good I can tell she can just do so much with her voice but I think with her it's just maybe lack of experience I think she's still figuring out her stage presence and how she wants to present herself sounds silly but I wonder if you know picturing yourself kind of in your room alone like I'm sure you got some moves like when you're alone you know and just kind of have fun with it I actually have a video of me singing don't you worry about a thing your version I was literally on the hoverboard you're killing it on a hoverboard I don't know how I was doing that I can't even do that till the day I I feel like that's the little girl usually he's pretty shy you're seeing something so unique tonight Haley 16 amazing I love the moments that you draw people in with like these like intimate moments and you make everybody just attention eyes and ears on you my question for you is is this the original key uh that Tate does it in yes it is okay okay I think you could have given it just a little bit more sauce okay some more please I think we want you to just kind of get out of this 16-year-old mode and just let yourself free and give us more and more energy with every performance the enormity of the moment may have made up a little bit which is great because I'm doing Confident by demy lado and I just really want to be able to like get the crowd moving and just get people up and dancing [Music] conf yes dang those are some big no you killed them make it your own you know what I mean it's maybe even like just one little run or something in the beginning just to be like okay I'm seeing this song but this is like my version of the song I think she's at a point where she's ready to prove to the world that she belongs and I could sense that in her I think she's really wanting to go all out for this one you were kept watching the crowd watching their energy cuz that's what it's all about anyway to get the crowd going and that's what you thank you so much J everybody me under the diamonds Blake is such a sweetheart he really impressed me with some of those high notes not not any maybe we ditch the mic stand where the band builds back up if it's not you it's [Music] not you at the end you felt good about it that's the football or anything H the football in sports having all that adrenaline is actually good but in a performance he has to find a way to channel that energy your eyes are the one thing and like I I think you're looking down a lot which reads as you kind of thinking and even if you are thinking don't don't let us see it appreciate it thank you you know it's meant the world to grow and get better but to be able to make it forward and make it in the top 20 would be a dream come true give G send me like breath in the [Music] cold say put me here in the silence come kiss me right Blake Co I grew up loving an Nemo and so it was really fun to be able to go snorkel at the Rainbow Reef today I love how Nemo is just trying to figure out how to get back to his family and he kind of figures out who he is along the way just like I did I will be doing the story by Brandy carile for this round I'm dedicating it to my mom um the one who's going to be in the audience I was made for her from my mom Lisa I'm supposed to be my moms like I was supposed to be in their family I was supposed to be adopted and I feel like the song represents that perfectly it's true I just fell in love with her tone she such a Storyteller type of voice for you I mean I would just say to really Channel those emotions while you're performing I mean it's stunning your tone is like so good thank you I just want my mom to know how much I love her and how much I appreciate her for everything she has done for me that's the only thing I want her to take away from the next [Applause] performance get a keep this song to my mom in the audience thank you for raising me to be the person I am today [Applause] [Music] all of these lines across my face tell you the story of who I am so many stories of where I been and how I got to where I am but this story is told me and if saying when you've got no what to tell them to it's true that I I was made for [Music] you you see the smile that's on my mouth it's hiding the words that don't come out all of my friends who think that I'm blessed they don't know my heads man no they don't know who I really am and they don't know what Happ been through like you do and I Was Made For You the across my face tell you the St who I am so many stories where I been and now I got to where I am but this is don't me anything you got no what to tell [Music] like that it was intimate and then you showed us a little bit more upbeat because you've done a lot of intimate moments you do have something incredible and I want the world to know thank you so much K I mean we've seen you really Captivate the room at a piano but we haven't seen you with a guitar yet right no not yet really good you've got so many Big Time singer songwriter traits that are going on that you keep kind of showing us you're a serious Contender great job you you should be very proud thank you Luke he Kenna you have one of those voices where I can already picture it on a record yes you sound amazing live but there's something about your tone that's so warm and pure and authentic I love singing with the guitar and I just love you I think you're so special thank you so much to yeah I'm going to pay you a major compliment I had to close my eyes for a moment and said that that is probably the next closest thing to Joan and Mitchell those are big shoes there's something about and it said that uh if you would sing while you played your Rhythm would get better oh wow so that's the only reason I started singing That's amazing and now you're here I think for will I would love to see him push himself a little bit more I would almost want to challenge me to hit another big note even if you kind of growled into it like was time I really hope he knows how unique his voice is and what he can bring to the table because I think there's so much more that he's actually capable of that we haven't seen [Applause] yeah Sting down the morning song I'll Be s in the evening go night yes sir your voice makes me feel safe he makes me feel safe and warm and you look like a seasoned Pro that was that was amazing thank you so much when we met the first time at Luke's Hometown I gave you about 6 seconds uh but that's all I needed singers do karaoke stylists you can hear the voice in five seconds I heard your voice I know who you are that is one signature voice you have my friend and I'm saying to everybody out there vote vote vote thank you so much Luke and I were just commiserating we're like that was the best performance of the night oh I think we both agree that was the most solid performance it was solid like milk and meatloaf and apple pie and it was like so American it did feel safe it felt like your favorite cup of tea cup of joke cup of cup of beer beer I mean I think America's going to do what it's going to do but you're you're worth it thank you Katie I appreciate that yeah it was my favorite of the night it was so listenable woo it was like we're on thing by being authentic by singing the songs that tell his story and man that performance will really uh put you in a big- Time contention in this whole competition in my opinion thank you so much
