My take away? Diversity and localization is key. You don’t want your forests dominated by just a few tree types. In my area, we are living through this in real time with the demise of the Ash trees. I’m replanting yearly with a variety of native trees from my county’s annual tree sales. This is a relatively cost effective and enjoyable way to make a difference.
