Amazing Finds, Revealing Walls & Big Family Update! | Cottage Renovation Episode 21

[Music] go bowling everybody it's very very early I'm just heading off over to the cottage to remind myself I need to buy some materials I'm on the lookout for some cupboard doors because I want to hand make a kitchen so I'll need some little cupboard doors I know it's a little bit in advance but I always store these items elsewhere until I actually need them because once I started to get to that point there's not going to be any vid greniors which are yard sales on because it's getting close it'll be getting closer to winter so a little bit of forward planning always after tolls any building materials I couldn't foresee that I'm going to need um oh yeah we had a real storm last night and uh I'll come back from being out somewhere and I've found this on the floor yeah the ladder was up there come back lucky enough it kind of wedged into there I haven't actually looked to see if the panel is okay actually you know what I think that wheelbarrow literally save that what do you think I'll have a look a little bit lighter see where it's still charging but I'm sure it is let's just go inside a little bit Messier we'll have to tidy up a bit later so this is where I left off it's removing all the lime Off the Wall here now I did make a little bit of a discovery there appears to be a crack going up there just going through the joints it's not split the stone in half but we'll need to address that but that'll be when I come back I might even come across some antiques when I'm out and about so right I'm going to get ready we're uh we're off to a place called monsters we're about 40 minutes away I'm going with Sam as my wife and Sam's mum Lynn so level wander around there I'll buy some bits and pieces hopefully come back and I'll get stuck into the uh the cottage renovation again My Chauffeur White and what a glamorous one I have today there she is hello dear all right take me shopping yes please and away we go back to the cottage later so we're here at the vid greniere got to be a bit disgraced not everyone wants to be filmed but I've got my first purchase in the bag so that is great who knows what else is here they're nice aren't they very nice curtain tie backs yeah lovely quality yep I've looked right that's my first purchase on we go there we go I have my second purchase lots of cleaning but a lovely kill okay doing fine no building materials yet though can't help but buy more pieces of copper send me blood anyway I've only just got here two purchases in the bag there'll be other things here like so I'm looking for little doors quality doors that I can make that are in my kitchen with any other building materials just anything that gets my attention always lots here we're switching over to Kettle cam disguised wait also there it's an old character always see the Grinch all the materials that's interesting very very old go get that can tell come on I'm so frame all right [Music] here hello bought myself a kettle that's nice that's nice yeah I might check that cable out in a minute I'm going to need some cabling so already we've got quite a mixed bag here okay yeah it was a nice Trail I've got that'll come in handy nice Pizza paddle ideal for barbecuing of course four which is quite unusual get four and of course my little gret head all right let's go and see what else I can find so this time last year I bought a beautiful pair of doors from here I don't know if you remember the video but yeah got them for next to nothing which was a real result okay all right back on track let's find some building materials and some little yes nice old French coffee cups they're nice nice yep and uh look at this this is a 1930s sunbrelly it's sunflower oh yeah oh that's original yeah very nice yeah so we don't need it today no I don't think they will just for the sun I might need it for the sun yes still not got the whole Subway no I'm gonna pass on the saddle then oh my word yeah okay right we've just come away from the boot sale now we're heading back and we'll show you what we got okay so we carry them over to the bench yeah so while Sam's seen her vast Hall up I'll just show you a few of my bits as we see earlier lovely all Malu curtain tie backs I've got four of those nice little Gretel that'll clean up nice very old this one you're talking to cleaning up this lovely kettle so yeah I've got my work cut out what else did I get ah this is a lovely old tool there's a bit of cleaning up but the old ones are often much better quality it's only when I'm doing my lime mortar so yeah not a bad little hole but I didn't get any doors for the kitchen but never mind there's always another vid granny eye so you got quite a faster way of things there yeah is it gone yeah all cameras cameras nice copper yeah lucky you got that on I thought about that all right okay lots of silverware yep fantastic well done Lynn long spotted the umbrella is nice yeah I like that umbrella you needed that in a minute very shortly this is a 1930s only I think he already talked about it earlier on the video the condition of it is fabulous I love them colors yeah lovely wood as well the handles all wood very nice use it as a sunshine as well yeah yeah okay right and that's that look at this lovely Dolly porcelain I'm not sure how old she is but she's certainly 50s style it's got the look isn't it look she's even got a little Broach spotted that they're authentic understand okay right before we go any further I think we better get these in because it's going to pour down in a moment yeah now if anyone's interested in any of these yesterday I'm heading into the cottage now and I'm going to remove all of the plaster off the front wall of the house so yeah I'm interested to see what else lurks beneath that plaster so yeah so far hmm a little bit of concern but nothing too much but I want to get it all stripped off see what's actually going on and then I can address it so I'm going to get set up a quick tidy up we'll get the rest of that off right let's get going again and we go [Applause] like I say I'm gonna have a quick tidy up and then we'll get the rest of that off because there is a crack down there which they normally radiate from the corner of doors we've got one there nothing too much there although I'm glad I've exposed this Timber now because I'm getting some woodworm treatment on that stabilize that and we've got cylinder there don't think there's anything of concern there but just this corner here just want to make sure there's no uh no surprises behind there I also got some very exciting news to share with you but I'll get the render off first and I'll let you into a little secret foreign [Music] the dust has settled a little bit okay right I can see the Bare Bones of it now obviously if the render was really tight and really stuck to the stones I wouldn't bother removing it'd be no point but it blown in a lot of places and it didn't look very nice neither so that's why I've taken it off so I can see where there's a little bit of settlement nothing too serious now what I mean by the assessment is the gap that's running down here in the joint it's just opened up a little bit you normally get it radiating from a corner of a door or window so it's nothing too much to worry about we'll just get some lime in there just to consolidate this and then once I move this lintel up here we can be sure that all those stones are going to stay in place not too many surprises here actually so I was expecting a little bit of movement okay on to the other side [Music] foreign [Music] here whatsoever no movement or anything so we'll just go over there with a Fresh coat of lime render so how do you like this kind of video you know a little mix of say maybe a vid grenade or a trip out somewhere else mixed in with a bit of cottage renovation I did listen to your comments you know I was really grateful for the time that you took to respond back to me about splitting the channel you know do I do a travel vid greniere French Lifestyle Channel as opposed to another one for the cottage renovation and I've given it lots of thought and I think what I'll do occasionally is just mix it up a little bit like live today in this video um done a little bit of a vid greniere sort of trip out and then mixed in with the cottage renovation do you think that's going to work let us know in the comments always uh you know want to hear your side of things after all you're the ones watching it so uh yeah oh that surprise come this way so for those of you that don't know uh Tom rescued a cat it was an abandoned cat left in one of the properties that he was viewing um now we've had the cat just over a month now so a little bit of background there beautiful little cat yeah let's go and explain what's going on now this little kitty sorry did I wake you you've got about news to tell everybody haven't you it was something he wasn't telling us well Tom bought faithi home and the next day to go to the vets and got a checked out got her treated for fleas and worms and ticks and other injections and I told him to ask the vet to make sure she wasn't expecting and the vet confirmed that no she wasn't but she's been getting better and fatter and fatter through food I took her back to the vet see a different fit this time and they told us yes she is expecting and uh she's not quite long at all no so we're talking days aren't we she hasn't been out since we've had her because we've got so much wildlife and birds and Freddie the Frog that we don't want them to be eaten so and there's also a lot of hunters around here at certain times of the year so he's not safe for cats to go out really no but uh so we got more than we're bargained before not that we mind no idea she's in safe hands now you couldn't have been left an ed kittens on her own no he's only younger selfless so we'll keep you posted on how many little kitties we have Eminem full of babies it'll be nice to have some new new additions to our family yeah I wonder what their what colors they're going to turn out like do they are they all like will they be like this or only the if any of the females would be Calico or talk show yeah all right what a surprise way okay well that was our lovely news to share with you all right we're going to leave her now she looks like she needs a rest had a Sunday roast she enjoyed that so uh she's probably gonna have a little sleep now yeah I won't try that so I'm just gonna leave Phoenix to rest yeah poor little deer yeah we didn't know um until recently but are you as surprised as I am about it yeah well it's a surprise but we are so looking forward to it and I'm sure there'd be beautiful little kittens right I've had me lunch I'm raring to go again the sun has come out it's stopped raining beautiful weather and this is what I bought earlier they're lovely never seen them with the fleur-de-lis on the front or Malu what I might do is keep one pair of those clean now well not really clean but you know what I mean all shoveled up I'm going to move the car over I've got some more to load up over there and then I'll be off to the tip now I've been thinking long and hard what do I do about these coins Sam has looked into him it's quite difficult to research especially when you're quite busy as well so she's kind of had a brief look into them I don't think there's any you know Mega rare or Ultra valuable ones there which uh brings me to my next question what do I do with them do I sell them off as one lot as a curio you know curiosity for someone to do some research I haven't got time to make them into anything um maybe you'll have an idea I did think about keeping them in the cottage and maybe people um not sponsoring but putting their name to them make some sort of record maybe set them into a foundation somewhere into the wall you know to help raise money for the project so yeah I'd be interesting to hear what you've got to say about that and uh know what would be in keeping really you know I'd like the coins to stay here probably hold back a few maybe set them in a I'll say a bit of concrete or a tin hide them in the wall or something like that but yeah just a little nod to its past where they came from I'll keep a few so yeah be interested to hear your comments on that okay right be off to the tip so yeah that is it for
