Story time:
I've only seen AB once just after Blackbird came out, and it was with my uncle who got me into music. My toddler years were spent jamming to his band. He taught me to drum a bit when I was a kid and helped me pick out my first guitar later on. He'd been diagnosed with Leukemia a year or so before the show, and was on chemo and looked it, but damnit, we got there early and were on the rail right in front of Mark. The show was beyond perfect. The crowd was awesome. What was really amazing was when they got to Blackbird, everyone just went quiet. The song was rocking (not my video, but this guy was literally right behind us), but everyone was just taking it in. Not even singing. I grabbed my phone and took a couple of pictures during mark's solo, and he saw me and ended up posing for this shot, literally mid solo. For a sick guy, you'd have had trouble guessing it. We headbanged and rocked out the entire show. Some asshole tried to push his way to the front for 2 or 3 consecutive songs and "accidentally" got my uncles elbow in his teeth.
When they got around to the encore, they did a cover (forgive me, i don't recall the song) and Whitfield from Another Animal (who was onstage doing vocals with AB) pointed to my uncle and asked for his beanie, which he'd been wearing to kinda cover up the fact that he'd lost all his hair. He gave it to him, and both bands passed it around and everyone wore it including Mark and Myles before giving it back to him at the end of the song.
After the last song, I caught a drumstick from Scott Phillips, and my Uncle caught Mark's guitar pick. We kinda looked at each other -- he's a drummer, I'm a guitarist, and we switched.
He died about 6 months later. I still can't listen to Blackbird without choking up a bit.

I absolutely love that song. Alter Bridge always makes me think of my father too, he hasn't passed yet, it's just he showed them to me when they came out with the album Blackbird.
