and uh uh my cousin uh got trees down at uh both and he's staying in one place while he redoes another place and both places got damaged so i want to send a lot of love to him his wife lisa and my aunt jane and jim and uh my nanny everybody down there um so they're safe and uh that's all that matters property we can deal with folks we can't so uh glad everybody's okay and i'll send this down to got it's what we're doing and you know before i forget someone uh yesterday an article came out in billboard that rusty andrews rusty and teresa andrews own the monkey duck in houston the great legendary folk club and rusty posted an article from billboard yesterday on facebook about a lot of small venues closing and i reposted it and just wanted to say thank you to all of you who are helping us stay afloat and helping the small venues stay afloat with whatever ways they come up with to keep income coming in and uh i just wanted to just tell you all thank you so much for supporting hayes and me and for keeping us going it means the world to us um and someone commented that selfishly they did not want us to stop doing live streams because they had enjoyed them so much and you know said something about selfishly i don't want them to end it's not selfish at all to not want them to end and i don't want them to end either so i just want to say that i'm not going to stop doing live streams no matter what happens if things go back to um i mean i does anybody remember normal i don't but i mean i do but it's getting farther away i just want to say that i'm going to keep showing up here because i have discovered y'all in a new way i feel more connected to y'all than i ever have i feel like i know who you are and and we're a we're a team we're doing this together and i back and he's carl got some new equipment and i thought well maybe i'll try to use that but i don't have a piano out there so i can't roll my piano out there and i don't want to not use my piano so i'm still here and he has the fancy camera and uh that's okay we'll get it together uh if anybody has any leads on any i don't know whirling i'm looking for one so let me know send me messages um one of the great things about um doing these shows is i can play as long as i want to so that's one thing that's good um i'm a perpetual opening act so i usually have sets that are limited to 30 or 45 minutes and y'all i've made 10 records so you know it doesn't leave me time to get to anything and one of the my favorite things about doing these shows is i've rediscovered some of some old songs and this is one of them that i've rediscovered that i really love singing i used to not love to sing it i know maybe i don't know what's changed but i i've gotten reacquainted with this one so let's send hanging around a while but that i haven't really gotten a chance to do much with um and ah she held them i want this mic to go falling down on me um one this first one i'm gonna do i wrote with tracy berg several years ago and uh we had a lot of fun together writing it um i might have done this live a couple of times but if i have it's been a really long time ago so let me know i'm gonna get the shoes off so get to my pedals y'all just know i'm barefooted over here um i like that better when playing piano you know what's crazy is trying to play piano and high heels which i do but it's a whole lot more fun if you barefooted it just makes it feel somehow more authentic so anyway this is called dare the devil everything sounding okay y'all tell me let me know if we need to adjust anything or bit much there you've been in the bedroom with yourself okay we both just slap our legs cause we've been together for six months non-stop anyway we uh can i point something out i'm dramatically taller than you when we stand up but when we sit down these chairs are the same height that's because your high pockets you got long legs your legs are twice as long as mine i have i have short legs unfortunately and that's not you know something i'm proud of but uh i do i feel like my torso is like well what is this relevant at the moment i'm trying to do songs i'm sorry we need to talk about your i deformities at least you're not like door for something with no legs long legs that's good it's not the legs you know i mean tell them about the time we went running at the high line all right i guess i should do another song i don't know um no can you come back quickly down there down there here i am so the first time we ever went running um uh we went on the high line in new york city and um is that the only time we've run first i don't like to run i'm not very i'm not built well for running i'm not a gazelle i'm not just not built that way my short legs and your long leg anyway we went out there and we're running and and allison's just rolling along to a pretty good clip and i look over at her and she's just as smooth as can be like her face is there's no expression she's just running like this and but kind of hauling ass and i'm like man she's really going how does she keep so composed and i look down at her legs and they're just like just chugging like a locomotive and that is just me in a nutshell yeah like a duck it's like real or swan maybe i wouldn't go that far more like a duck very smooth up top smooth duck and then down below it's like i am the things y'all can't see you would not believe that's like you know working these pedals in this video anyway uh we this is the first song we ever wrote together and it took us a while um because i started it i was like hey write this with me and you i move slower than you do well he's like he's got a lot to move like i always tell him that's a lot to haul around what you got i'm like i'm ready to make the fast movie you know who gets really fast my sister she's like flash gorgeous looking ninja she is because she's tiny and she's like she has great hands athletic hands she can catch balls and she just naturally knows if you catch one you have to bring it in and i'm like no football these long arms i'm just anyway i should that's why i'm here so this is a song we wrote together uh called chasing down the wind now i have not played it on piano except for today i'm going to try really hard not to mess up is this where you're going to be so i'm going to sing and you just hang over my shoulders now this is this is you got to lean in for this camera over here so lean in got to lean in you know so all right don't you do anything weird back there okay yep don't worry about me here you are again what that way is but uh but yeah you've been rehearsing your dog's at home since 10 o'clock this morning she's been setting up shop here and well that was because there were other plans yeah i know we you i think you told them we intended to use all the new gear and it didn't work out and but we now have it's like a it's like cnn backstage here there's like all with monitors and cameras and all this stuff but but you've been singing for like all day long we had about 40 sound checks on you you've been practicing and practicing and this voice like i don't know how you i don't know how you sing that big in the first place and that beautifully but but to do it all day long it's incredible to me so i've just been walking around like doing nothing really and just listening to you saying to me all day so anyway practice practice practice you put in the you put in the work and everything you do [Music] [Music] [Applause] in a war nobody want she lost her only son now everything he loves and i saw this and i want to tell y'all that i had these made for you when this pandemic started and i started doing live streams i thought um i cannot accept these donations if i don't give something in return so i started sending thank you notes and um i just had some new ones made and i i noticed y'all liked this photograph a lot so i had these done um this was taken by mr david mclister and um so if you do decide to send anything then i'll send you one of these and i've all um i've also been working on some paintings for y'all um y'all order a lot of handwritten lyrics from me and i love doing them and i love doing signing your postcards and doing your little drawings and i love doing the handwritten lyrics and i've i guess i've started doing a lot of doodling on them but it turned into um i have been doing some paintings and watercolor paintings to go with some handwritten lyrics so i've been working on those and we'll get them up on the site next week so if you want to order any for holiday christmas gifts whatever they'll be up there for you i'm just going to do a limited edition um but you'll be able to order some so i i'm working with the chorus to heal um but if there's something else you want we'll we'll certainly consider doing that it's just i can only i'm working in an 8x8 format so it's kind of small you'll see all the details and i'll i'll show y'all more about what i'm talking about but we've got some some good stuff coming and also um some new sunday soul t-shirts which i'll show you on sunday at 11 00 um and uh sunday at 11 seoul soon sunday
