caught a lot of us unprepared and i'm just grateful i could find a white onion and some cream to go on my tomato soup that i made today because yesterday couldn't find either one of those things weather now here in nashville i was talking to my sister this morning and i had to get out in this mess and uh you know i hadn't been out in a couple days and the roads were iced over um so i called and i said remember that ice storm in 1994 when we lived down in that duplex on chesterfield and she said yes lord i've never been so cold in my life we didn't have any electricity or uh he no nothing for like i don't know over a week or something and uh we didn't have to worry about no internet there was no such thing so it was just anyway it reminds me of that because now i live in that same neighborhood where we lived so long ago almost 30 years ago and anyway hey that was a time and uh i had to get out because i had to take willie to the bed for checkup and i posted this as a story today but he is heartworm free the bladder stones are gone for now he is tip top so unfortunately he's got some kind of protein thing where he's going to create these stones if we don't keep him on a special diet that's too much information i know but i just want y'all to know because y'all love willie so much and i appreciate you loving willie and uh so that's the update so we're just going to keep him as healthy as possible and wish that he wished for him an easy ride from here on out because he has had a time bless that puppy oh my goodness i mean it's a wonder he has legs because i just towed him around and the little things have not just withered to little stumps or something but uh but they work as you saw he and wendy are having fun playing in the snow so anyway that's that update you can't get there from here [Music] went out to the car this morning to warm it up we don't have a garage we park out on the street and uh so the windshield was totally iced over and cranked the car turned on the defrost like mama used to do to heat it up i made a note of the fact that i have seat warmers in my car and she did not what she had was vinyl that stuck to you no matter if it was zero or a hundred [Music] and i used to go out to the car some mornings and it would be so cold and the windshield will be iced over and she'd put us in the car and we'd bundle up [Music] she'd go back inside and fetch the bowler of water that she heated on the stove so that she could pour it on the windshield so it would clear a little spot for her to see so we could make the 30-mile drive to town [Music] the lord knows we made it on prayers and prayers alone can't think of anything else that would have gotten us through it [Music] this song was and always will be for her [Music] you gotta make it work on the shield strength can't exactly say well on the upswing ding ding throw me in a boxing ring burke can't fly with a bust [Music] [Music] but i don't know when mama says i gotta keep my like yesterday and then another it's 100 years ago but uh i got to tour with them and they are legendary and they are just what do you say they're the chieftains they're otherworldly they are the best at what they do and uh i learned a lot from those guys a lot about uh irish music and a lot about music in general and how universal it is and uh i'm very thankful for that experience but that's all to say i always get requests for this tune carrick fergus and uh y'all it tears me to pieces so uh not only is it a vocal event but uh it is that's one of the saddest tunes um that i know maybe the saddest tune i know uh so i'm gonna leave you with it it's a it's a cold snowing night i don't want to leave you with a downer but i do want to leave you with some depth and beauty so here you go
