Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
The suspense I felt while watching this and not knowing where the alligator was going to come from was so intense
Time to go home and figure out a new hobby.
As an avid kayaker I am so happy he knew how to right himself and not have to eject from the boat.
There is an amazing lack of hysteria and swearing in this video
On a bright note he set a kayak speed record on the way back
Probably protecting a nest, not looking to eat. Bad time of year to get close to a gator in the wild.
Why did this video frighten me so much? Gee, I don't know. Maybe deep down I'm afraid of any apex predator that lived through the K-T extinction. Physically unchanged for a hundred million years, because it's the perfect killing machine. A half ton of cold-blooded fury, the bite force of 20,000 Newtons, and stomach acid so strong it can dissolve bones and hoofs.
Some serious Annihilation vibes at the start
I wonder if this gator has a nest nearby and is defending it?
I did a five min google search and apparently spring is mating season and July is when nesting usually starts. Apparently the female stands guard over the nests for two months and can be pretty aggressive.
