what's going on YouTube so Hyundai is a brand that seemingly has the ability to surprise with their designs that more than pretty much any other brand out there since each model has its own unique identity and that is definitely true for this model right here this is the next Generation Hyundai Santa Fe long one of Hyundai's most important and vesseling models they are taking things in a totally new Direction this year with a boxy design and outdoorsy intentions so is this new Santa Fe the half-price Land Rover you've been hoping for let's take a first look and find out [Music] so the first and most obvious place to start off this review has to be with the overall exterior Design This couldn't possibly look more different than the outgoing generation they have done a complete 180 and really made this look a lot more rugged and tough matching that kind of outdoorsy look and that's going to start up here in the front so we have of course a very squared off shape we also have some new design signatures so there's a lot of basically H design characteristics so you'll see in the lower fascia we have this kind of H design that's running through here also of course in the Headlights the headlight structure is going to run all across the front here you have the H daytime running light and turn signal indicator you have the light bar that runs all the way across the grill and what's really cool about this is that this actually has an animation so when you're approaching it plays this cool animation across the front of the vehicle now in terms of aerodynamics that's one of the things I really want to talk about because even though this is very boxy it has a 0.29 coefficient of drag that is extremely impressive it's actually pretty similar to an EV model even though this has that boxy SUV appearance now as far as your ground clearance is concerned Hyundai hasn't provided us with an official figure but that it is very similar to the outgoing generation now as we move on to the wheels you're going to have several different designs of course as you'd expect depending on which trim level you have this is the hybrid model and as you can see we have a 20 inch gloss black alloy wheel I think this looks quite nice you can get up to 21 inch Alloys with this next Generation Santa Fe On The calligraphy model you'll also notice of course you have these very distinct squared off wheel arches and these are going to be finished in a gloss black which I think looks really excellent with this paint color now of course you have Santa Fe branding right there more glass black accenting here as well as on our a-pillar and as far as our mirrors of course we don't have full specifications but it does appear that they have blind spot monitoring of course as well as your turn signal indicator built in now here at the side of this all new Santa Fe this really gives me Land Rover Defender Vibes it has that really tough masculine boxy shape that Americans love and I have to say here in person this thing looks phenomenal now as far as the overall length Hyundai has actually made this Santa Fe a little bit longer than the previous generation it's 190.2 inches long which is up 1.7 inches over the previous generation it's going to be about six inches shorter than the Hyundai Palisade and about eight inches longer than the smaller Hyundai Tucson but of course has a very unique design for both of those crossovers now as far as some of those Design Elements I do want to point out a few different things of course Very squared off window surrounds we do additionally have this right here which is a really unique feature you can actually use this as a grab handle if you open the door for easy access to the roof rails and loading things up on the roof which once again matches with this vehicle's outdoorsy image now as we move around to the rear of this all new Santa Fe my oh my we're talking wild design like College spring break wild Design This thing is absolutely stunning here in person once again we're getting a lot of design elements from a lot of other tough outdoorsy vehicles I think this kind of looks like a G wagon and the Land Rover Defender had a baby back here in the rear now as far as the rear glass we do have a hidden rear wiper right here you do also have two cameras integrated up here in your integrated spoiler dropping down below we have our black dial Hyundai badge all of this is going to be completely vertical and squared off our tail lights are the most unique element about this new Santa Fe in the rear because they're actually low mounted tail lights now Hyundai said that the reason they did this was to maximize the tailgate opening so as you'll notice the taillight actually ends at the end of the tailgate of course it's going to have that H Motif that really matches with the front gives it a nice cohesive design it's full LED dropping down to this lower area this is where you'll find your turn signal indicator it's going to be led and a nice Amber finish additionally all of this is going to be a gloss black plastic here on the hybrid we do not have an exposed exhaust outlet but on some of the other models that we've been seeing today you do have an exposed exhaust Outlet here on the right side I believe that's for the 2.5 turbo models now I do want to talk about your safety systems for this all new Santa Fe because this is a family vehicle first and foremost and Hyundai has said that they will have available their entire Suite of active safety features including Highway Drive Assist 2.0 which is certainly a nice feature to have of course we don't have the full trim level breakdown just yet stay tuned for a full review coming later this year hopefully additionally I do want to mention that it has an all new driver monitoring health system on the Santa Fe which monitors your health and make sure you're not having a Health crisis which is a Hyundai first for this vehicle and one other thing that I forgot to mention here in the back is your tow rating Hyundai is not officially released a tow rating for the Santa Fe but they are targeting 4 500 pounds and it's pending for their testing but guys there is a lot to show you on the inside so let's go ahead and do that but before if you're new here we're brothers and we've been reviewing car since we were 12 and 16. we may be young but we love cars and we'd love for you to subscribe to be a part of our car Confections family let's learn a lot have some fun with all the latest cars now let's move on to the interior um we do have a smart Park system of course as a lot of Hyundai's have had and they have confirmed availability of the digital key system as well we have a nice Square meaty door handle right here and let's open up this door and take a look inside this cabin holy Defender this really reminds me a lot of the defender and that is a good thing because this is definitely going to cost a lot less than that model and I also notice a lot of really functional and high-tech looking elements but before we really dig in I want to mention a little bit about material and color selection so Hyundai says most models are going to come with faux leather however if you choose upper end trim levels those are going to come with genuine Napa leather and faux wood accenting by the feel of this this is certainly the Napa leather and it feels really soft and supple I love the perforation they have in here you have the little H design just like with the headlights you'll see this repeated through a lot of places inside the cabin and I like that attention to detail color options are going to include black gray forest green pecan Brown and ink so you're going to have a wide variety of choices on that and as far as the seat itself as you can see there's a lot of adjustment on this particular model we actually have the new feature called relaxation seat so you may have seen something similar in the Hyundai ioniq 5 but it allows the seat to really go all the way back extend out this really cool recliner and let you totally take just absolutely epic naps well it looks like we're kind of moving here a little bit but it'll allow you to take like I said totally epic naps and then you've got your memory seat right up here on the door itself but let's climb inside and look at the details all right so I'm climbing inside here let's take a look at the rest of the cabin materials as a whole this is the calligraphy trim level so this is going to be the top end model that you can get and as we come over here to our door trim you're going to notice very nice materials reflected we have full leather covering through here we have a very realistic faux wood Trend like I was mentioning on the calligraphy model this kind of looks like a bamboo and it even feels very realistic we have a leatherette trimming across the top as we move to the upper Dash this is all going to be finished in a leatherette same for this area as well more of this faux wood again H detailing here with this single vent effect as we move down to the lower areas even these are going to be padded with a nice leatherette Hyundai did talk a lot about using sustainable materials inside of this cabin as well now of course we are just in a pre-production model so we're not going to be able to fire it up but we can kind of turn on our Electronics here and give you guys the best demo we can of some of the stuff you're going to be able to see in this next Generation Santa Fe so after you press the push button start one of the first things you're going to be greeted with is this next generation of Technology here this is a curved dual 12.3 inch display so as you can see this kind of just bends a nice little Arc around here towards the driver display looks really nice it has the latest generation of the Hyundai system so you'll notice the latest software on board here when it's not covered up by the battery warning and over here you'll be able to have the full customizability like many other Hyundai products I'm assuming also the blind spot camera system and we obviously do have a head up display at the top now off to the left side of this display is something I want to talk about we have this little section and inside of this section is a fingerprint reader that's obviously going to be new to the Santa Fe and I think it's the first Hyundai product in the US that's going to have that fingerprint reader it has been on some Genesis products as well now taking a look at this steering wheel speaking of Genesis this really looks straight out of a Genesis we have a two-tone steering wheel really cool design on this like I said this part kind of reminds me a little bit of a Land Rover as well you have the the four little dots here which is um Morse code for Hyundai and you've seen that on some of their electric products recently and the wheel itself is going to be Power Tilt and telescoping we can also assume it will be heated at least on these top end trim levels now a lot of attention has been given to this center console area so let's turn our attention over here so really they focused a lot on having excellent functionality and as we open up our center console we can see that there's a lot of space inside of it here we have a little tray I think this is removable as well so you have a little bit more storage underneath of that you have two giant cup holders which they designed for the American Market to fit large drinks that we oftentimes have and check this out we have two wireless phone charging pads dual wireless phone charging pads so it's very cool for whoever is traveling with you you have some USB ports above that and this is a very exclusive feature if you press this button right here this will actually bathe your cell phones in UV light it's for sanitization purposes of course that's more on our mind than ever before you know out coming out of a pandemic how we can be more sanitary now this is a big important part though because we have this gigantic Center pass through that's made possible by the fact that we also have an electronic shifter for the first time on the Santa Fe it's going to be up here on the column and you'll just be able to twist it for drive and reverse we're still not done yet though there's an additional storage compartment up here so you have basically a passenger storage self shelf but it is hidden underneath of this piece of leather and then of course you have your uh a secondary shelf right there and a glove box as well and don't let me fail to mention the fact that this has a cool feature you actually can open it from the front and the back so those rear passengers can have access to that same storage space now just kind of looking at the rest of the cabin here down here at our climate controls again not everything can be lit up just because uh we don't have the key to this model but this is going to be a 6.6 inch display right here for your climate adjustments of course you do have the traditional knobs as well so you don't always have to fiddle around with the touch sensitive buttons and you also have some more physical buttons located down there below as well thankfully we also have physical buttons for our audio system this is going to be a Bose sound system it appears on the top end version I believe the previous generation was coming with a Harman Kardon sound system like I was mentioning earlier you've got the 12.3 inch display over here for the main infotainment system as well and you also have like I said the latest design here so this is a new kind of fresh look everything here is also very very sensitive so they've clearly done some improvements to this overall screen setup for this next Generation model up top here you've got an auto dimming mirror I believe you have Homelink universal remotes as well and if you flip this switch you also have a new digital camera system that's good of course if you filled up the cargo area and you've blocked your rear view now you can just see right out the back up at the top wonderful soft headliner really really premium feeling if we come back here you'll see that we have a traditional sunroof in the front and I'll see if I can open up the rear sun shade I cannot because of the electronics are not allowing me but there's actually a second panel obviously in the back on this top end model and that's going to be for the second row and the third row to have their own natural sunlight well guys sitting in the rear seat area of this all new Hyundai Santa Fe is pretty reminiscent of sitting at a luxury SUV's second row there is a lot of features going on back here and it just has a very luxurious and spacious feel now Hyundai said they designed this car from the inside out and they wanted to make sure there was a ton of room inside this cabin and as such you do have really good leg room figures that are improved over the previous generation we're looking at 42.3 inches of legroom 40 and a half inches of Headroom of course when we open up this moon roof if we are able to do that it would feel even more open and Airy inside this cabin it absolutely feels fantastic inside of here now of course I'm on a pretty severe times constraint we have about 15 minutes with each vehicle so I'm not going to be able to get my rulers out and all that but stay tuned for the full review coming later I will say though my feet can slide up underneath the seat and check out these seats themselves as you can see we have the captain's chair set up on this particular model and look at that feature here on the side now this particular model has a power adjusting second row seat so yes I can power slide this seat forward and back do all of those adjustments very bougie feature if this makes it to the U.S North American version of the Santa Fe that would certainly be a class exclusive feature although we are not sure if this will just be on the global version or for the north north our conversion we have no full feature breakdown just yet on the North American so do keep that in mind now here in the center of course you do have the ability to open up the center console like that additionally we can pop this open inside of this we have a ton of additional storage for anything you're going to need in the rear additionally we have seat back pockets I love that they put the little uh pixels through here additionally we're going to have the coat coat hook headrest on this new Santa Fe so you can hang things like that from the rear of the headrest additionally let's take a look at our door trim for this model now it's going to be made of really nice materials we have leatherette on all the upper part as well as that beautiful wood trim we have some more faux aluminum additionally we have rear window sun shades and then on the armrest portion you'll notice a button that's for our heated rear seats on this calligraphy trim level I do not believe ventilated seats are going to be offered on this Santa Fe that will be a palisade exclusive feature additionally we have our vents integrated here in the b-pillar they once again have that H shape to it so I love the cohesive design that they've gone with for this vehicle two bottle storage is in the door as well as a little bit down below so overall very impressive rear seat area big news for the all-new Santa Fe there is actually a third row that will be available for the North American market so yes no longer just the Kia Sorrento has a third row you will get it also on this Hyundai Santa Fe super glad to see that feature and let's check out the third row because we do have it equipped on this model so in order to get back here with the power seats you just push this button right here that's going to electronically fold the seat back up and then also I guess uh start to slide it out of place I don't exactly know how this vehicle works because it is a pre-production model but I'm going to go ahead and try and squeeze back here and see if I can get into the third row now that I'm in the third row for this Santa Fe I have to say I'm very impressed we're looking at about 27 inches of leg room 37 inches of Headroom the Headroom I think is particularly the most impressive aspect about this because of course this is a large boxy SUV shape so that allows for a ton of Headroom the leg room is not bad either the seat is slid all the way back I'm five foot nine I still have about an inch or so of space for my knees and they can slide up underneath the seat the only thing I will say is the thigh support is not fantastic you're going to get better thigh support in the Palisade but of course that's a bigger SUV you would expect then now as far as the cup holders we have two cup holders here on the left side we have USB ports here in the third row as well as a house or a 220 volt Outlet here additionally we have our own rear air conditioning controls once again I'm not sure if that'll make it to the North American spec model but certainly a very premium feature to see on the Santa Fe and of course having rear vents is something that is pretty rare for a mid-size SUV like this now the Santa Fe is a family vehicle so let's check out what you're going to get when it comes to the cargo area now one thing I want to mention uh before we even open up the tailgate is that this is the widest opening tailgate in the entire segment of course that means that's going to be a lot easier to load stuff into the Santa Fe and like I mentioned in the second row area they kind of built this car from the inside out when it comes to families and how they're going to be using this vehicle so it's going to be very practical now opening up the tailgate itself we do have a hands-free smart opening tailgate on every single Santa Fe model they said that's going to be standard equipment regardless of what trim level you go for now as far as the cargo space is concerned back here we don't have full full measurements yet however Hyundai said that they have increased this maximum cargo capacity by 3.2 cubic feet which would put in about 75 cubic feet if you're comparing that to the previous generation Santa Fe model now no figures behind the third row seats if you're asking my professional opinion it's not going to be much space at all probably about 10 or less cubic feet if you have the third row fully up and installed as you can see I can just fold that down really easily with that strap so no power folding third row I'm not exactly sure here's how we get the headrest down I can fold that down and then one of the things that they also mentioned with this all new Santa Fe is that we have the electronic folding second row so we can push this button right here and that's actually going to go ahead and power fold our second row seats and one of the things that they emphasized is the practicality so in order to maximize your practicality you want a completely flat loading floor and they have managed to do that with this all new Hyundai Santa Fe completely flat all the way up to the front row of seats certainly very nice to see that we have a 12 volt Outlet here on the left side if we lift up the cargo floor there is a I don't believe any underfloor storage I'm not really sure what that is I guess that's the battery for this vehicle but certainly a very practical cargo area and it's very squared off which will maximize your ability to use this cargo area now of course the critical element of any vehicle is what's under the hood so let's go ahead and talk about that so with this next Generation Santa Fe globally they are going to be offering four powertrains they're actually going to be these same four powertrains that the current generation has if you remember that's a 2.5 4-cylinder 2.5 turbo four-cylinder a 1.6 hybrid and a plug and hybrid variant now Hyundai has confirmed for the North American Market they will for sure be offering the 2.5 turbo and the 1.6 hybrid let's talk about those so this is going to be the hybrid model it's a 1.6 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine of course you do have the hybrid componentry on board with that and total system output is going to be 227 horsepower with the 2.5 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine you're going to be looking at 277 horsepower 311 pound-feet of torque once again that is the same as the outgoing generation and that will also be paired with the 8-speed dual clutch automatic transmission six-speed automatic transmission on that hybrid model of course just like with the previous generation standard front wheel drive and all-wheel drive will be offered and then as far as your fuel economy Hyundai is estimating that you're going to be looking at 26 miles per gallon combined with the 2.5 turbo and 36 miles per gallon combined if you're going for that hybrid model now you're probably also curious about pricing and availability for this all new Hyundai Santa Fe well unfortunately I don't have pricing of course this is the global reveal of this vehicle here in beautiful Santa Fe New Mexico so we don't have full details just yet that will be released according to Hyundai later on um I believe they said it will be at the LA Auto Show which is in November of this year for some of the North American details about this vehicle as far as when they expect it to go on sale it goes on sale in Korea in August however the North American Vehicles will probably have to wait until quarter one of 2024 and they definitely said that it will be here by at least the first half of 2024 so you won't have to wait too too much longer if you want to pick up one of these all new
