Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
Personally, I'm fine with the additional matte paintings and minor stuff that sets the scene. And, sure, the wolfman costume is kinda goofy. A CGI vehicle isn't nearly as obvious as the dewbacks, the Mos Eisley eye-rape, Han's head moving in a way some might call "unnatural", and the Jabba scene... it just looks so goddamn awful.
People complain about it ruining their childhood and while some may call it hyperbole, consider that when you compare watching the VHS version and the Bluray, of course you'd want to watch the one with sharper picture, better color, and crisper audio. The original seems like garbage in comparison now. Buuuuut, you've got to accept all the pointless crap injected in there now. And because some of those changes are fundamental changes to characters and scenes, you dread that uncomfortable feeling of the two not matching up, the rage when you try to convince some little bastard who grew up on the prequels that Han shot first, and the fear that you'll come to get used to it and believe that Han really didn't fire first.
Hope to see the original at 4K.

Project 4k77.
In case anyone is wondering, there is a new project to restore the original star wars in 4K without all the tom fuckery. Project 4k77.
Also Star Wars Legacy Edition is another 4k star wars trilogy project. If Disney doesn't do it, don't worry, someone else will. https://vimeo.com/channels/starwarslegacy
Sad they removed wolf man, but happy that they kept literally Satan in the cantina.
The original gave my 12 year old male body a huge sci-fi boner and cannot be beat.
Seriously, I watched it 16 times at the Arbutus Maryland movie theater and I paid for it on my own time!
