[Music] [Applause] generator power source come here for a parallel generators video we get a ton of YouTube comments and emails from people asking is it better to buy one 3000 or 4000 watt generator or is it better to buy two 2000 watt generators and run them in parallel and it's kind of like picking the perfect RV or travel trailer it's just there is no right solution for this there are however some pros and cons to each set ups and some of the pros might outweigh the cons of each setup and we want to highlight each parallel setup that we have in front of me a champion Westinghouse and an energizer first I want to walk you through some of the specifics of each set up and then we'll circle back around and explain why some of these might be better for you and your travel trailer or your RV or even at home so let's look at the champion up front here this is a champion dual fuel 3500 watt and a 2000 watt generator right here and this is the parallel block right here as you can see we have a 50 amp receptacle as well as a 30 amp receptacle but it is a locking and then we have the breakers in the middle champion has a unique system this is the plugs that you would use so on your generators you'll see that they are parallel capable or the parallel operations and these just plug in and then here's your 30 or your 50 amp receptacle on the front side something that I find kind of interesting is they went with a locking 30 amp on the front but on the actual unit itself is a 30 amp plug like I would have on on this travel trailer behind me next up let's move on over to the Westinghouse this is 2500 watt and a 2200 watt and you'll see that Westinghouse plugs right into the receptacles what's unique about this is these are 20 amp receptacles and you coming out to a 30 amp plug here so you are getting the power output to plug in the 30 amp RV adapter or your travel trailer as well as have another 220 volt receptacles on the front so that's really nice to have those additional Plus you are these set up now we've come up to the front the big boy up here is the Energizer this is a 3,200 P and we also have a 2000 watt suitcase generator here energizer uses a screw and plug I'll go ahead and unplug this one so you can see what this actually looks like it's a three pin on the inside and it screws in and then we're coming out to another 50 amp receptacle right here so when these two are parallel these two units we are putting out 43 amps but you do have the 50 amp receptacle because if we had two of these larger units together we would be putting out 53 amps and then of course you also have the 30 amp locking receptacle here which matches the front of this unit that as well so that's a look at the front of these units now why is one better than the other well like I just showed you the 50 or the 30 amp receptacle is super useful for those of us that are in travel trailers RVs because if you're only given a 20 amp receptacle you can only run so much at one time RAC pulls anywhere from 14 to 18 amps depending on how hot the temperature is outside so you're almost maxing out your generator at that point now if we jump up to a 30 amp receptacle and we plug in with our 30 amp cord then we can run the AC and the microwave at the same time so if you jump up to the 50 amp like this energizer in front of me or the champion you can run almost everything in this travel trailer at the same time the exception would be running the AC the microwave hot water heater and the electric fireplace at the same time I think that puts us at just over 50 amps but you wouldn't do that why would you be running the AC plus the electric fireplace at the same time it just doesn't make sense so for us we could run everything in this unit at the same time the other pro to the parallel is if one were to die if one of your generators were to have a problem and break at least you have something else as a backup to run your essentials the caveat to that is then you might lose the push-button start this energizer in front of me the Westinghouse 4500 that I've reviewed few other prominent names out there all come with push-button start I've done a video in the past of showing the benefit of that especially if it's cool in the morning and you want to crank that electric fireplace on you want to turn the heat on or the microwave or whatever having that push-button start is really really nice but again it is nice having two units as a backup in my opinion the best setup is to have one 3,000 watt generator like this energizer or that 4500 watt Westinghouse that I have that has the push-button start and the ability to hook up a 2000 watt or another 32 hundred watt like this energizer and come out to a 50 amp cord that is the best-case scenario of course it costs more money so like I said in the beginning of this video there is no right solution for everyone out there it's going to come down to you how much do you power in your RV or your travel trailer and how much do you need to run at the same time how important is a push-button start if it doesn't really matter then yeah maybe the two 2000 watt generators because you can pick up this set right here for roughly a thousand dollars and something like the Energizer set in front of me is going to cost you close to two thousand dollars so it is significantly more but again you're getting way more power you're getting that 50 amp receptacle and a push button start so a lot to kind of weigh here I just wanted to go over the differences of all these setups because they are all different in terms of how they plug in what receptacle they have is it locking is it not locking is a 50 amp is a 30 amp etc we are now going to run this energizer set up here with the 50 amp receptacle on this travel trailer behind me and see if we can power everything in the unit at one time this has been generator power source calm thanks for watching guys subscribe give us a thumbs up it's what helps us to keep going and we'll be back with more videos next time [Music]
