Welcome back to Albany County Fasteners - Fasteners 101. I'm Bob, and today we're going to talk about carbide bits. But before we do that, please subscribe, like, and share my videos, and hit the bell so you get new content updates. Also comment below. We like to respond to you. Give us some feedback. We'd like to answer any questions you may have for your projects. So let's get started. So I have here my Bosch Bulldog Extreme. I've had this for many, many, years. Probably... ...15 years old? Never ever have I had an issue with this hammer drill. I do have a bit in it presently. This is an SDS Max connection. You connect this to an SDS by just pulling back on the head here. Like that. It's on a spring. You just drop it in and it locks; it's in place. I just wanted to show you that connection. There are many different connections. So you have no connection like this bit here. This just goes into a battery drill or a regular cord drill. Whatever you have this can go into except for an impact wrench. Forget about it. Or a hammer drill in which you will not be able to use this. It will not fit in one of these. Or a spline. There's another product out there called a spline. I believe there's another type of SDS hammer drill. I'm not sure. I haven't gone past this unit. It's such a great unit. I highly recommend the Bosch Bulldog. You can get them at Home Depot, Lowes, any of your big box stores. You can pick these up there. What I did also want to talk about is different carbide tips. So I have here a Milwaukee bit. This particular one is an SDS Max. It's a single head cutter. How you can tell it's a single head is that you can see it has just one carbide tip on here. These work well. However a quad head moves faster through the concrete. These particular drill bits... I guess when you're drilling down into a hole and you angle it, this is a better drill bit to use. As opposed to a quad head. On a quad head you can see there is a main carbide that goes across, and then there are side cutters. The two "ears" on the side here that you can see. You can see that these have two slits in there. The carbides go in there. These work very efficiently. They probably go into concrete a lot faster. Probably about 25% faster at drilling. So if you're drilling a lot of holes in concrete, this would be a great drill bit to get. So if you're doing hundreds of these in a project, this is the way to go. If you're just doing a couple holes, you're better off with the single carbide. This is a single carbide tip. This we sell with our masonry screws or tapcons. This is what comes in the box. This is made for a regular drill. You can't use it in a hammer drill. You can't use it in an impact wrench. You can't use this in anything other than a standard drill. These are cheap. You may get about a dozen uses depending on what type of concrete. Most guys doing this professionally don't use this. If you're just doing a couple holes, this is the item then. You don't need to go out and spend 30, 40, 50, 100 dollars on a great bit. These are just smaller SDS bits. That just goes to show you that you can get SDS all the way down to 5/32" with the same connection. This is not 5/32" it's 5/16" x 6 inch. And these are 3/4 inch x 12 inch. So, I'm just showing you the different types of carbide tipped bits you can get. These bits I use when I do projects. I use the single cutters and I use the quad cutters. Depends. Thanks for watching.
