like the lawful neutral alignment lawful evil is concerned with adhering to standards rules and codes of behavior like all lawful alignments the lawful evil appreciates that in order to function within a society or organization they have to be seen to follow its laws however the lawful neutral is usually driven by a sense of duty and security and the lawful good-bye justice and morality by contrast the lawful evils main motivation is personal gain the lawful evil will use the rules to their benefit often finding clauses and ways of bending them to suit their needs they are the type that will do the right thing for the wrong reasons they pick their battles with caution staying legal enough to maintain their personal freedom and public reputation they have no moral qualms about engaging in shady activities but they will calculate their moves carefully and weigh or pivot is worth the risk they will take pains to cover their tracks intimidate others into silence a point of fall guy or hide behind a veneer of false righteousness the lawful evil enjoys power recognition and prestige as such they will often under coat betray and bully potential rivals to get ahead when angered threatened or sufficiently motivated the lawful evil will use legislative financial or social means to totally destroy their opponent others of this alignment work in more subtle ways using manipulation to exploit the weak and vulnerable in society or winning over the public with a charming facade lawful evil characters are attracted to careers that give them control power and status as such the often take jobs as lawyers police politicians bankers and leaders of organized crime groups they may also take careers that give them a free pass to carry out their dog desires ie violence these types of characters make the comers of the military hitmen mercenaries spies snitches and abattoir workers sometimes the lawful evil will take a typically good hobby or career and use it as a smokescreen for their true each are less intelligent resourceful or ambitious characters usually become lackeys the lawful evil is commonly associated with the following treats [Music] a lawful evil religious figure is twisting the passages of a holy book to install hate and extremist views into his congregation a corrupt police chief or politician flagrantly breaks the law knowing that his status makes him untouchable a wealthy businesswoman is funding a secret human trafficking ring but in the public eye she is one of the city's most generous philanthropists a poppy farmer breeds litter upon litter of dogs in appalling conditions concerned only with profit at the expense of her animals health the head of a major corporation orders workers to dump toxic chemicals into a river preferring to risk the government-imposed Fame than taking the time and money to dispose of it ethically lawful evil comes in many different flavours but almost all characters of this alignment based their decisions upon two simple questions what's in it for me and what can I get away with here are some examples of lawful evil characters from popular culture [Music] [Music]
