Alienware Aurora R13 Unboxing and First Impressions + Gameplay!

finally the most powerful alienware computer ever is here the alienware aurora r13 i'm unboxing this one over my dead body you are [Music] all right now that we cut the seal let's open this up i'm not sure if alienware did this horrendous tape job or if it was fedex but not a very good first impression look at that finally a beautiful window to the inside all right first off in this side box got a power cable right here just your standard power cable and a basic mouse that i got with it this mouse is incredibly light and honestly makes it feel pretty cheap i like the sensitivity of the scroll and the click is pretty satisfying but overall in your hand it really doesn't feel that great all right let's go ahead and check out the keyboard the keyboard actually feels pretty nice for how inexpensive it is it's relatively quiet the key presses are kind of shallow but still somehow somewhat satisfying now if you want to get a really nice keyboard and mouse to match this really expensive desktop you just got i don't blame you i just wanted to show you guys what the basics look like because i've already done a review on the really cool alienware keyboard and mouse so at the end of this video check out the link for that video in the description what else we got in here got a little thank you card here your warranty information and then your alienware aurora r13 user manual super helpful information on how to turn it on and then on the back all your labeling for your ports we'll talk about that here in a sec all right let's put this boring box away and check out the main event wow this thing is massive oh this thing's heavy yeah this definitely feels a lot bigger than the r12 i don't just yet know if this thing performs the way that it should but boy does it look beautiful in person a lot nicer than the r12 design so on the front we've got an alienware power port a headphone and microphone jack three usb 3.2 gen1 ports and the bottom one with powershare and then one usbc 3.2 gen2 also with powershare and here's the right side of the box you've got a very subtle reflective aurora logo right here looks really nice the rest of this is just a very smooth plastic here you can see we've got our spdif toss link and spit of coaxial our side speakers surround sound subwoofer microphone line in and line out and then we've got two usb 2.0 ports and then down here two usb 3.2 gen one ports a usbc 3.2 gen 2 port and the all new super fast usbc 3.2 gen 2 2 port capable of speeds of double what gen 2 can do and then 2 usb 2.0 ports and an ethernet port then on our 3090 graphics card which we're going to check out in a sec we've got our hdmi port and three display ports and then at the bottom we've got our power port and now to open up the side panel we just have to remove this screw right here looks like you can use a phillips head or a flat head not really sure why they said it was tool-less wow i like how they made it to where you can't actually lose the screw unlike last year's we've got two fans right here a fan here at the top another fan on the back not really sure who's complaining about there only being two fans but clearly there's four we've got our cryotech liquid cooled cpu our 30 90 gpu and look how much space there is here on the back so much more than last gen so i believe them when they say that they can fit a full-size 3090 gpu got our wi-fi card back there our two sticks of ddr5 ram let's go ahead and take one of those out and see what it looks like now with the new ddr5 ram each stick is dual channel so you no longer need two sticks to achieve the benefits from dual channel a little disappointed that the max speed that they have right now is 4 400 megahertz ddr5 ram is gonna be capable of a lot faster speeds than that all right let's go ahead and remove the graphics card and check it out there's five things we need to do first we need to unlock and remove this back retainer we need to unplug it unlock and remove this middle retainer open this door and then on the very back we've gotta flip that little lever that way looks pretty much identical to the one on the r12 two fans right here so behind that we had our ssd drive got a slot for another drive right here looks like our fans right here are the same foxconn brand overall a much bigger chassis than last gen all right the moment of truth let's hope i didn't jack anything up of course we've gotta check out the alienware command center click here to customize your default lighting scheme here we go so morph goes between two different colors let's go let's do green and red then for the ring let's do purple then for the honeycomb we'll do orange that looks pretty gross spectrum color pulse let's do spectrum rainbow wave what does that look like so rainbow waves cycles through everything this goes to show you how many different leds there are in here pretty cool breathing so it looks like the lighting on g-force is locked to white default blue honestly looks pretty good but i know a lot of people are going to want to customize the liquid cooling we can select that individually so it looks like the liquid cooling option is actually not illuminating all zones black yeah it looks like my liquid cooling isn't working the only reason it kind of looks like it works is because it's reflecting the light from the fan but like if i make the fan black the internal ambient black then the liquid cooling isn't illuminated so that's disappointing i hope that that doesn't mean that my liquid cooling has no power let's go ahead and check out some of these other features fusion our temperature is at a low 26 degrees right now but it's not really doing anything so our gpu temperature 39 degrees and within your thermal profiles you can see your history the more advanced where you can set the offset for your fans based on the temperature right now the fans are at 21 really cool how you can control each one of the four fans you got your mid fan your top fan your side fan and front fan i think for my full benchmarks video i'm gonna install some noctua fans to see if that does a better job with thermals or fan noise so my overall first impressions this machine is just as beautiful and just as gorgeous in person as i thought it would be i was a little disappointed that the lighting effects on the liquid cooler wasn't working but hopefully after i update the machine that's going to be fixed i really hope that there's actually power to the liquid cooler and it's just a malfunction with the rgb this computer is doing absolutely nothing right now and with the fans at only 20 i am a little concerned that they're already a little bit louder than i like them to be in my full benchmarks video for this machine i'm gonna install
