Alice's First Day Of School

I can't believe my baby's going to school [Music] [Applause] Alice good morning oh good morning precious do you remember what is special about today yeah your first day of school are you so excited oh you want to go pick out your first outfit yeah okay let's go pick out your first day of school outfit this is the one that you want are you sure do you want to see some other options there we can lay them out you want to choose from these two okay good choice okay let's get dressed for dad we have to get panties on because we wear panties under our clothes that's just a rule okay oh I found me math oh thank goodness I am just getting ready for the obligatory a first day of school picture I'm actually really excited I bought these in like the $1 bins of Target I think maybe a couple of years ago it's really cute it's got like little copper glitter on this side and it's a little blue chalkboard but I have no idea what to do with it did I know I was saving it for today why do you guys think I did I know it's not perfectly straight but that's pretty good right okay all right have we got it hmm thank you mommy should have thought about getting a sign that could easily be held with your hand do you want to keep righty there and then oh I like how you're holding it right there perfect tease peas if you don't get down in three seconds I'm gonna tickle you that is you need to come down I'm not teasing I'm not cheating if you don't come down in three seconds I'm gonna tickle you [Applause] so I'm gonna address so I don't look like a crazy person when the bus tracker comes I'll already look like a crazy person because I'm gonna be crying a lot but can we talk about 40 seconds how well you've been holding together I have not cried once yet this morning gotten a little misty-eyed and choked up a couple of times but I have not cried yet everyone cried yet and I'm holding it together you have to remember how hard that I worked to get this kid into this special preschool how heard that she's worked how excited she is to go okay can we talk about another thing this is my only kitten and this is my first experience going to school so I don't really know what I'm talking about but as obnoxious as it might seem that when kids don't immediately go into their classrooms because they like want to stay with their moms or dads don't you kind of love that parents let's let's be honest for like two seconds Alice has zero qualms about going to school she's super excited to get on the bus she knows her teacher she's super excited to go to school she's telling me all about what she's gonna do when she's gonna get there I think she does not care that I am not going with her I [Music] think why isn't she more sad that I'm not going she didn't incredibly independent toddler I just thought that maybe with school maybe she would care a little bit more but she doesn't I got the independent child that I want that I wanted okay so Allison I have some free time before the bus gets here and so we are gonna play with ya Plato is awesome for therapy having fun because one quite frankly I'm trying to squeeze in three years of my having work it into and all those memories that it really helped by working while she was a baby I'm gonna squeeze him into one morning we ready ooh I like those fingers opening on it okay and then white righty oh hang on ready squeeze so tight right yeah I need righty squeeze so tight go eat that pie that's lefty okay and then left you pull it off there we go what color is that yeah yellow now how are you gonna get it down oh hey no it's tricky who taught you that okay it's okay you must have been pushing really hard one of my mommy friends just shared with me what I think is a really terrifying experience with her little boy we think his five so those first two days of school the first day coming home on the bus he was asleep and he missed his stop and the second day the bus driver tried to get him off at the wrong stop and fortunately she had taught him exactly where to get off she'd like made him memorize it they're working on their address and so he refused to get off on the bus driver told him to thank goodness right so the bus driver takes him back to the school and they calls mom and like everything's able to work out but that really terrifies me I think that the way that this school does things I feel like it's foolproof where I literally drop her off her teachers there at the bus stop at the school to take her inside and then her teacher takes her outside and puts her back on the bus and then I'm there at the corner waiting to pick her up so you feel like she really can't get lost but just in case because I'm really scared about it I'm doing this thing where I write down hello my name is Alex gray I'm three years old and then write down her address and then mine and Jason's phone numbers so just in case hopefully someone will find her and know where to retire her to and it's getting that closer to time to leave she did not sleep well last night and the closer that it gets time to school I'm really worried that this isn't going to go well come on bud let's go to school we got to go out to the school bus here we go no remember we're not going to this car we're walking to the school bus yeah let's go little princess entering the world yeah all right but mommy no one's here no no in Syria we're waiting for the bus you couldn't miss Hayne bye bye to alice under stay of school huh good boy Bain do you want give him a love don't run away but she's trying to hug you wait did he just walk away from you yeah Alice I think this is your bus here comes oh okay so a bus came and then I'm at the corner that the bus driver told me to be at the bus came and then turned down a different road and paid another child up and I don't know if it was her bus or not it was technically five minutes earlier than her bus driver told me that she would be and so now I just don't know I don't know if that was the bus and we just missed it and I misunderstood and I'm at the wrong corner or I mean obviously I wait another five minutes or so to see if another bus comes by I'm just really confused I don't think schools supposed to be this hard when they held it together I was there a bust I came back were can't believe she's going to school I can't believe my baby's going to school oh my goodness you guys I need Jason here it's three hours I can do this you guys it's three hours all right I'm done working and it's not quite time to pick out set from the bus stop in fact it's about 20 minutes away every side I don't care I never considered myself really a helicopter berry but I am potentially proving myself wrong today because I am happily going to sit at this bus stop for another 20 minutes until my kid gets home because I'm so excited to see her and I just want her to tell me about how her day went and I'm just so nervous about her getting on and off the bus and so many thoughts just going through my head all at once and so I just can't wake it make it I'm bringing the book sitting on the corner and I will just wait there for a half-hour like a crazy person because I'm just really excited this year guess who's back from their first day at school did you have the best time at school yeah yeah I kid you not I pick up I pick Alice up off the bus and she goes mom I had the best day so Alice what was your favorite part of school I ain't getting the snack what did you have for snack yeah cereal and fish yeah that sounds like a good snack and did you make any friends yeah oh did you forget to ask yeah that's okay your age you can kind of get away with that you know you really need to know people's names to play with them did you get to go to recess yeah are you excited to go to school tomorrow come on yeah you're gonna go to school again tomorrow yeah tomorrow we're gonna do it all over again well I think it's safe to say that Alice had a real good day at school you might notice she's in a different outfit because she had a wee bit of an accident but other than that I think it was a good day huh let's go play mommy missed you so much
