me like what the hell is this where am I just really a radio show unbeknownst to him that this happens to be the most impactful radio show at Sirius XM I know you know but yeah you know that's not why he's here he's here because I wanted to see him in person and see if he still maintains that glare in his eyes that I would watch when I was such a big obsessed fan of one of my favorite series of all to the shows and great to have you here when I was walking through the hallway most of the women that stopped me I'm sure you get this all the time and we were talking about this I feel like I'm sad for you that people objectify you all the time because of your looks and they overlook your thespian chops you know and I can relate to that yeah right thank you time so understanding I get to that's not a problem for you though as an actor like okay get beyond all it is no I've been very fortunate I've gotten to play some very interesting characters and I'm very lucky that way yeah so you use it that's an asset for you yeah I think I mean I've so far I don't feel like I've been that pigeon-holed and and I've played some some douchebags and horrible people and um yeah so I've had a good time we had a good time man you got that voice going right now Freddie will show up this how often do you work out though man like you know well it depends when we when I was in prep for Legend of Tarzan it was quite intense um I put on some weight and so it was I worked out quite a bit for that quite a bit um but now I'm really enjoy we've obviously wrapped the movie and quite enjoying the time off good good being fat again right oh yeah man if it was so good I'm glad this is radio not told it yeah what are your conference acts like sorry max come again man early in the morning from all right you guys are both if you want though on well I just I did another interview this morning and they gave me a banoffee pie do you know what that is not do tell yeah it's a wish we shot Tarzan in in London and uh they have this thing in England called banoffee pie it's like caramel banana cream pie and because of it was eight months of very strict diet like I didn't wasn't allowed sugar anything like that on or cream and he's like no dairy product on so on rapping we shot the last scene of the movie they rolled out this massive banoffee pie and a cold pint of lager like a beer Oh sounds like a weird combination maybe but at the moment after being deprived of that for eight months it was the best thing ever yeah you went ham and I got one of those this morning actually a banoffee pie but offer pies I can't wait see what you guys all got for me got question you got the Tarzan yell yeah we got that bong oh wow an old a bagel yeah I so love you guys yeah that is really singing my heart man you really went above and beyond yeah well you know I thought about you Friday and I said you know we should save this one your money last week's cheese bagel man here we have a lot in common you may not realize this and then we'll talk about the movie um you know who knows who Edgar Rice Burroughs is anybody you know that is I think I know you know you know I know a Gustin Burroughs is yeah anybody be he was the author of Tarzan if I'm not mistaken right you're not missing okay and where I live in the valley in California Tarzana it's actually named after well you live there's you know go tell him go ahead have you seen his house you've seen this house I'll buy it when I first moved here yeah yeah so edgar rice burroughs used to live out there on on he's long gone but they named it the neighborhood or the town Tarzana ginger is favors character Tarzan yes little-known fact thank you there here we go there nailed it right third time's a charm all right man Alexander Skarsgard is here and we're gonna open up the phone lines I want to talk about this movie The Legend of Tarzan eight eight eight seven four two three three four five you are lord of the Apes king of the jungle Tarzan Tarzan The Legend of Tarzan Friday July 1st in theaters and we have them with us right now Alexander Skarsgard is here ladies and gentlemen um Tarzan is here there we go yeah Tarzan is Lord amen did you did you that's so good you can keep doing that all the energies uh did you have to do the Tarzan yell to audition I know how not um well is it we just heard it in words I said it actually - dude or is that just like corny now or well it's in the movie yeah on and it's on it's a tricky one because it could easily I mean the movie is pretty intense is an action movie and on it can sound it's slightly dated and can be a bit corny yeah on yeah there's a way I mean to do it the way like the chest-thumping and the the it's tough to get away with yeah it's kind of difficult on but it is in the movie but it's kind of hybrid actually of my voice an opera singers voice okay um apparently my voice wasn't good enough okay and some animal sounds took also make it more primal and animalistic um really yeah okay so I remember when I what I saw I saw I saw the movie and when it comes in it they pull it off in a way that it would make you go oh come on really you know what I mean because if it wasn't in the movie then some people would be like how you're gonna have Tarzan movie without the yell you know what I mean so you couldn't get around not having the yell in the movie so it's not that was a dilemma because again you like you said you have to have it in the movie but on to do the thing of like the posture the the the kind of yeah it's it's you know uh it could easily get bit comedic right on so the way we've done it is it's in the movie and on but but it kind of plays on the Christoph Waltz's characters him on his face so it's kind of uh which i think is more interesting because you see the impact on one the the bad guy like how when he hears it you know through the jungle and he knows that Tarzan is coming for him yeah also we don't actually see you doing that no I just hear you doing it yeah okay and it's in twice in the movie twice in a movie in Tarzan it doesn't start with you in the jungle right is no no yeah the story is a bit different from Edgar Rice Burroughs novel or the the old Tarzan movies on it's told in so II it opens in London when he's already Lord Greystoke when he's already been there for eight years with Jane Margot Robbie on a chain in the movie in on they've been the firm for almost a decade and he's acclimated to life in Victorian London and then he Sam Jackson's character shows up and he gets an invitation back to the Congo where he's from on reluctantly he returns he doesn't want to go back on he's made some powerful enemies down back there and he's also the kind of afraid of himself and what he's capable of well no so so the transformation is going from this buttoned up British gentleman to the more animalistic more primal Tarzan qdl I wanted to ask for thank you after them that's a very primal animalistic after the movie that I got an email they were asking what my review was and what I thought about the movie in it I had to be honest I said you know I was curious I was a little skeptical I won't lie because I was wondering how they were gonna tell Tarzan again and make it stand out from all the other versions I mean there was Jungle Book even though it's not a Tarzan's story it's old Tarzan ish there was a 2013 Tarzan there was a 1984 version of Tarzan on in a movie so it's like okay how many times can you tell the story is still make it appealing to audiences and make you want to go see it so I was ordering for you because this movie starts out with you're already Tarzan you know what I mean and it seemed like you had played this role already because it was so good what was it specifically that drew you to this movie well I think again on like you said it felt so different it was it's such an iconic character obviously but reading the script you know I opened the script and page one is him drinking tea with a prime minister in a three-piece suit he's like this you know Victorian gentleman and I thought it was such an interesting on introduction to the character in the world on and then so it's a support I mean the the the the novel or most of the old movies are about this ape-man who then like when he first meets humans and I mean this is as you know in the movie as well but told in flashback the main storyline is on him and Jane returning to the jungle and and kind of returning to his roots and slowly this animalistic side comes out which as an actor is quite fun to explore and I think it's something that we obviously all humans deal with the fact that we're both or try to be civilized human beings but at the same time we come from animals where we got these like primal instincts and it's always that kind of that dichotomy is quite interesting to explore on and it's also like it's been a while since the last live-action Tarzan movie like you said the Greystoke was in 1984 right there on so what you can do today other than obviously the story is very different but also like with technology the way you can be immersed in this world and you can fly through the trees with Tarzan was impossible to do just a few years ago let alone 30 years ago when Greystoke came out so it's an opportunity to kind of really be in his natural in his element in his natural habitat with him and kind of join him on this journey when he's swinging through the vines you mentioned actors and animals like in a good way when people see you from being vampire Eric your beast on on camera Sam Jackson you mentioned him he's a beast on camera did you get intimidated or do you still get intimidated like when you have to do scenes with people like Sam Jackson not really because I have you met Sam he's coming on the show me Oh is he Oh on he is such a nice guy so that like what though I mean he's obviously a legend and yeah on in meeting him is super exciting but then it takes three seconds and then it's kind of he's so approachable and nice and so invested he was so excited about the project it was all about like getting together and working on that I you know I really enjoyed the relationship between Tarzan and George that Sam plays and because it's such an odd they don't really like each other in the beginning of the movie they're stuck together in the jungle yeah he just can't get rid of this guy so it was on it was so much fun and you kind of forget that it's Samuel Jackson and it's salmon you'd kind of your partner in crime it's good I loved working with him he didn't have a problem with the white guy conquering Africa right he didn't you know that whole thing right well when I was little we used to have an issue with how do white guy is gonna be how he's gonna be the king of the jungle and animals in Africa right you know what it is yeah we got shackles right yeah but it's also like just what I think on a more serious note I think it's interesting about the movie it is at the end of the day obviously a big tent pole like action adventure movie but the backdrop is the genocide in the Congo during King Leopold reign which is obviously true and not a lot of people know about this saying but between 10 and 20 million people were enslaved and killed during that genocide on and you see that in the movie you get to experience that through that's the reason my character or Tarzan returns to the jungle because Sam's character shows up and London's like [ __ ] is going down in the Congo you've got to go down there and take a look as you know Tarzan was a celebrity in London and he's in down by the king and you get to see through my character and Sam's character's eyes what was really going on in the jungle and in the Congo what King Leopold and his force publique we're doing to the the indigenous people to the animals to nature to on which on which I thought I mean it's not to get too heavy-handed but I thought it was interesting that you know it it's in the movie and you can see that and experience that oh good good I love this dude I love this dude all right all right while we have you here man cuz we only got you for a few minutes I want you to tell the whole movie um he came back DB who's our movie junkie cuz I didn't watch I wanna watch it in IMAX based on his description of the movie he said is amazing oh cool yeah he really is like Indiana Jones but with vines instead of a bullwhip and he said amp is great d be damned before today uh uh and he said you didn't show your ass once so you're not naked in it you didn't see my ass watch I must have missed that part oh wow I don't never anybody Thirteen's I ain't gonna be relieved or disappointed I'm relieved I would have loved to see Barker Robbie's ass but I yeah oh you said all you saw his ass on True Blood all right uh before you go Alexander something we do here and we call it the mystery sack and we would love to have you play this game with us all right go ahead and reach in dig deep dig deep put your hands into sways sack at subscribe its sways mystery sack unshaved 45 alright alex is real simple you got to pull out three questions one at a time read them out loud and you have to answer it honestly all right has anybody ever asked to bite you or for you to bite them yes that's a very honest business a very honest and did you do it like true blood or that's what they want it right that's what they wanted yeah on I I try to avoid it I felt like that's a if I do it once and you know I then I'll be stuck doing that for the rest of my life yeah good point right cuz once you bite them they become your slave anyway right exactly yeah I'll get up exactly then I'm stuck with him that because my kind of vampire daughter or something yeah yeah you know you know you don't like it yeah key I can't have too many of those yeah man have you ever had an awkward interaction with another celebrity on I ran into you know Dolph Lundgren oh oh legend all the Swedish actor I saw him I know him a little bit now but 10 years ago we ran into each other at an airport and it was that weird moment where I knew who he was I mean I think he had seen me on something so we kind of knew we'd met we didn't know each other but it's that kind of celebrity thing of like we we were just kind of sitting next to each other so like should we talk he got a bit awkward because it's like on oh yeah so which I do to just like give each other to not a little bit of that you know we kind of stuck together so he's a lovely lovely man so it it was awkward for a couple minutes and then once we kind of broke that bury but it is a bit weird when you see someone and you recognize each other but you don't know each other so you don't really have a reason to strike up conversation but at the same time you don't want to voice I don't know yeah you don't want him that's tricky that's complex yeah and dull just a big intimidating guy's he'd want to you don't want to offend him either if he does yes yeah if he died if he dies he'd I use who's got to go deeper oh yeah oh that's one you did it better me if you could be reincarnated as any rapper devine uh uh Snoop Dogg ol dog I like that no so West Coast Shing yeah don't your W dog the W that guy's dead the W in Sweden I mean I'm in trouble now cuz I live in New York so I'll probably get kicked out but Scott Leitz you appreciate you answer those questions very honestly man congratulations on your success thank you guys thank you have a really good Legend of Tarzan man um this I can't wait to see the movie this could be that one bro this could be that one that's gonna catapult you into a whole nother level you ready for this I will see you will see all
