Alexander Skarsgard addresses Bond rumours, and best dates.

Alexander Skarsgard welcome to the show real pleasure to have you I think you're about to enter into the world of espionage it's a new TV series it's called the little drummer girl and tell us about the character that you're playing I play gaudí Becker who's an israeli intelligence officer the show takes place in 1979 and you first meet him you're introduced to the character through the eyes of Florence pews character Charlie she's on vacation in Greece with her friends and there's this mysterious man who's just kind of around the beach when they're there and the restaurant which just happens to be around the same kind of in the vicinity and they strike up a conversation and they kind of hit it off and what she thinks will be a little Hollywood romance a little fling ends up being something completely different because his intentions are not what she thinks initially he is again an Israeli intelligence officer and he has with his team studied her for many months and chosen her to be a mole to plant into this sell Palestinian sell that they're trying to infiltrate its proper suspense and and sort of covert intelligence stuff isn't it and I tell you what it's actually a lesson to anybody don't get involved with anybody on holiday that's the moral of the story isn't it yeah yeah you see that nice girl on the beach don't approach her she could be anything off the nice guy on the beach don't approach him don't talk to people on the beach guys avoid it it's not the first John the Kerry normal to be turned into a TV series and we've recently had Tom Hiddleston doing the night manager when he did that the inevitable happened are you ready for the Bond rumors uh I can't the bond rumors about Tom Hillston No thank you you're welcome yeah you're bound to get link with bond now but at this day and age who isn't right it feels like well and they just started shooting with Daniel Craig right they're about to start right so and I think he's terrific so go Daniel and if not Tom and if not Alexander yeah um let's talk a little bit about the costumes that you get to wear because it's it's set at a very particular time 79 which it's funny because when you look at the clothing for it it does feel such a long time ago it wasn't really we we were both born right did it did it feel sort of strange to you to be getting into that that gear I loved it I also loved the fact that because he plays a character within it's like a character within the show he oscillate between Becker who really is a Michelle the character he plays when he's coaching Charlie basically that the fictional love story the the that they're creating when they're traveling through Europe and that character is different and aesthetically very different from Becker so that was quite fun in terms of just the costumes of going from Becker who's more kind of restraint this flamboyant Michelle is definitely more of a playable and so we would go back and forth and went between the two it is a fantastic cast an ensemble casts it's very Downton Abbey in the way that the names come up in the credits everybody's alphabetical which you would is it a great crew to work with though is a good cast extraordinary I got known Michael Shannon for many years and we're friends we've never we actually were in a movie together you long one of the first movies I did in the States but we didn't really have any scenes together so this was I was very excited to finally work with him again having known him for a long time and been a huge fan of his work it was he's one of the greatest actors we have so that was such a treat I had seen late my best so and I was blown away by by Flo's performance um but I didn't know her personally um but it took about three seconds to fall in love with her she is just the most extraordinary girl I think she's gonna be a huge star after this yeah she's gonna get very annoying she's gonna get very annoying when she realizes how incredible she is um this we talks a little bit about the beach romance um when you are coaching her one of the places you take it it's the Acropolis I'd say it the Acropolis yeah thank you you take it to the apocalypse yeah well kind of metaphorically I do yeah I mean that is a pretty impressive first date have you ever matched anything like that yourself well she even says how will they ever fall in love again and uh it's it was an extraordinary extraordinary for instance shoot up there I think was the first time in 80 years they shut it down at night and and till our film crew up there and we got to spend and we were there when the Sun set and then shot all night and saw the Sun Rise over athens from the acropolis and it was a very magical night and everyone up there the whole crew like knew that this is a moment we'll never ever forget and we can never top that like word where can you shoot like how do you top that like unless yeah I don't know like it's impossible you you all really get me for your next first stage Lord wave you if you ever words feel next date you are really gonna have to try and top it you gonna have to do something like yeah top of every be like well you took flow up to the Acropolis this is kind of you just took me to this restaurant leg yeah the pressure is on also just fine it I want to ask how's the cheek cuz it looks like she gives you a right old slap in it at one point yeah yeah ploy sopretty I mean she's a tiny girl but she's surprisingly strong so and I cried a little I'm not gonna lie well listen I loved it I I'm I don't wait to see the next couple of episodes thank you enjoy thank you and can't wait to see you with some seven alright thank you
