Alex Katz: Sunrise at MAK Center for Art and Architecture (2023)

well this is an artist's house essentially yeah it's gorgeous yeah the spirit is terrific yeah you can you can move into this place and feel comfortable yeah some of the paints look real good here yeah it looked like human's paintings actually aren't they because it seems like a silly idea to me when I was young and here I am doing it I can't think of anything I'd rather do than sit in the Sun yeah great day just terrific hey handsome hi sunrise how are you doing I'm good how you doing sweetie good to see you nice to see you hello son yeah this isn't been a hell of a lot of fun to make build I know I think I'm fixing up a wolf and think this is much more fun I read somewhere that these just like his wife yeah the idea was Freedom yeah yeah and they're like free Spirits yeah I mean any quick would walk into it there's no real official bedrooms no no it's no in the snow it closed from the outside either yeah yeah I was one of those hoodlums that used to just walk in that's a nice jacket yeah yeah I know I brought a little New York East Coast style to the West Coast a little Tweed how many paintings made it into the show 12 or 13. oh nice yeah there were some big ones I remember in the studio yeah it's been a little crushed in this place it's a little small yeah I was wondering if the big green background one was gonna make it the one the one like this yeah that's here it looks good looks real good oh can I see it yeah I love that one that's where the work was the big work was on the floor with the with the collages putting photos together well that's the whole thing of art is like does it look good it doesn't it that's it you know it looks good it doesn't make any sense to leave it and if it doesn't look uh good and it makes sense it might be boring
