hello everybody welcome back to x-play 11 once again today we're flying the tallest a319 from JFK here in New York and we're going to Philadelphia this is a cool route I found on flight aware that they've been doing JetBlue does it American does it and I think somebody else but basically you just scream out of New York up to 8,000 feet you hold 8,000 feet it's about a 30-minute flight down to Philadelphia so you don't even exceed 250 knots because you're under 10,000 feet the whole way and then we're gonna shoot the ILS two seven left approach into Philadelphia they're ready to push we're ready to go let's head up into the cockpit all right so before we push back here we're gonna go over to the rights I'll make sure everything the overhead is good to go APU if you bleeds good we have the beacon on doors are indeed closed we have green on all those guys so let's go ahead and release that parking brake so they can push us we're using the BSS sound pack which is really nice it's based on the CFM sound pack but you know JetBlue you gotta use the IAE engines and that's what we're doing today so as you can see we have the mCP set or not the mCP whatever they call it an Airbus up to 8,000 feet and then down here we can see we're just we're not doing any departure per se we're just going direct our nav to Dixie then white no we're just using the little Victor Airways down to Victor Charlie November then - Oscar Oscar Delta once we get to Oscar Oscar Delta we're gonna go to manual control as far as our vectoring and get us set up for the - seven left approach in - Philadelphia Philadelphia's arrival is kind of different it's a longer left down one we're gonna do two to seven left so it's because of the traffic flow they have there that's the reason why it will look the way it does okay we're ready to start our engines so let's go ahead and crank this over to the right and we're gonna start engine one [Music] [Music] operation complete go ahead and set the parking brake [Music] okay let's set that parking brake for them there we go wonderful they're gonna disconnect the towbar and we're gonna be good on that okay wonderful let's go ahead and start engine number two soon as they clear out [Music] [Music] all right there clear to disconnect the towbar down there and you have two great engine starts all right we'll see you next time thanks for the help all right flaps one our sets we can go out a break max that looks good there anything else we need no APU you can shut that guy off if you bleed we'll go off alright flight controls are free and correct wonderful let's go ahead and arm this the ground spoilers and cabin I'll let them know we don't have a long attack see here that's good to go and takeoff config no blue wonderful let's go ahead and release our parking brake like that we'll go to taxi on you and let's taxi over to three one left [Applause] transponder to above mode and we'll turn it on to t-ara that's good to go and our weather radar goes to system one that's good to go and we are following this guy actually we're gonna take off on three one left so we just have to line up right over here on the right as they're using the for is right now or takeoff and landing but we're gonna take off on three one left big long threshold there as you can see this would be fine or right over here for us so we're gonna be clear for takeoff on three one left let's go ahead and get our lights where they need to go strobe lights come on and we turn off wing lights everybody's happy wonderful alright let's go ahead and line up on three one left here a JetBlue that just landed yep he's taxiing back all right right turn here we could start our clocks chrono I like turn them both on like that that works for me okay what takeoff config as normal everybody's happy will do is will spill them up to 50 let them hold and then we will advance to our flex they'll come to a stop right here alright bring with the 50 there they are and flex 72 degrees board on the stick airspeeds alive neutral at 80 under knots v1 rotate I was a great year get our vectors here in a second but here we are departing out of JFK [Music] nice left turn towards Dixie intersection here and we're gonna leave her climb climb thrust is set push that nose forward a little bit here there we go very nice [Music] [Music] [Music] all right we could bring those flaps in and we're going to go ahead and go autopilot one on [Music] we have reached our cruising altitude of only 8,000 feet I know it's absolutely crazy where I keep the seatbelt sign on and everything is good as of right now or below 10,000 feet and as you can see the airplane is not going to accelerate past 250 because that is the speed limit using X enviro 1.13 and you can see we're just kind of skimming across the clouds which is really cool it should be a lot of fun when we get closer to Philadelphia we go back down through them and as you can see it's not a very long trip at all that's why I wanted to do it because it's very unique that's for certain we go ahead and clear this disco so we can see we can get a top of the cents and looks like we are going to have a top of the scent right around ood then we'll go down to looks like it's gonna be 3000 feet so that's all we got to do right there so we can enter our destination data next so let's go ahead and take care of that all right in Philadelphia looks like our altimeter there right now is three zero three one the three zero point three one room that's in there temperature right now is three degrees Celsius we'll throw that in there and wind is two eight zero at seven so 2 8 0 / 7 throw that in there the approach speed 140 so V ref V approach will be 145 for us today let's do 200 on the D H landing full flaps wonderful that's all set to go rad nav that is looking good as well beautiful okay over charlie yankee november making our right-hand turn and now we get to go towards Victor Charlie November and you can see right there that's feste and that's torn out there those are for the aisle s27 left approach but is the way they bring them in they bring them in this way and then you're gonna vector out around this way kind of a you know a nice long left downwind four to seven left and then we'll go out there and and pick up the ILS that's the plan of action good thing we've had the seatbelt signs on the whole time because it has been a bumpy ride today because we're right above that cloud deck just crossed over the approach mode so let's go ahead and go Auto brakes will be low today that's good to go and we're going to arm the ground spoilers of course and activate approach face it's already set up to to do exactly that so we're gonna make this right hand turn near Oscar Oscar Delta and funny enough if we go missed at Philadelphia we'll go out - Oscar Oscar Delta and that's where we would hold as you can see that's why the blue line comes out all the way to that vor so we're gonna make this right hand turn and we're gonna go down to 3,000 feet and a nab descent we're gonna wait until we start making that turn and right way make that right turn that's when we're gonna go ahead and pop that open toward we can get the descent going how we want to shouldn't have to use speed brakes or anything but I mean we are below ten ten thousand feet so we might if it starts to want to over speed so we'll see what if the airplane wants to slow down first but as of right now it seems to be doing just fine and you can see how the cloud cover is broken up on this side we're gonna go all the way over there right into Philadelphia but it's cool how X enviro depicts where the cloud layers go I think that's a really neat really neat thing alright let's go ahead get this thing into descent there it goes keep an eye on our rate of descent here and our speed it's like it is pulling the engines back as it should we're gonna manage that and if we have to pull those speed breaks out we will but I'm not thinking we're gonna have to too much here today it's about a thousand feet per minute and that looks great to us and we're gonna go to the ten nautical mile range just so we can get a better idea of the bigger picture that's Philadelphia all off of our nose unfortunately with explain the lights bleed through the clouds no matter what you do so that's alright not a huge deal Landing system is going to come on both sides and we are now getting mean to make that left downwind we get a little closer to the run to the airport before we make our right turn to a heading of zero-niner-zero and it's set up for that there's no need to start now we'll be way too far away from the airport and now we're descending down to 3,000 I'm gonna go out to feste 3,000 feet that is the plan of action here as of right now you see we can click it over to the 10 nautical mile range you see there's five miles 10 miles so on and so forth there and you just try to get a bigger picture in your head of what you're doing especially whenever you're doing this on your own all right so we're gonna go to a heading of zero nine zero here there we go if it'll let us click that there it goes and we are now in vertical speed mode down to 300 or two 3,000 feet actually slow our airplane down a 210 actually let's go down to 190 actually there we go 190 and down 3,000 gonna be breaking through the clouds before too long here and we look at our flat placard here and we can see we go flaps one at 2:30 so we want to do 10 under so flaps want be 220 on the speed keep an eye on that to see the volumetric clouds as we descend through them it's pretty nice and that's the thing you know you get like a 10 to 15 frames per second hit using X enviro but once you go to these volumetric clouds it's really hard to go back because it looks so good and realistic it truly does look nice ok let's slow this puppy down to 190 it doesn't seem like it wants to budge too much there so we might have to use some speed break action here nice let's go ahead and pull those babies out that's gonna help our rate of descent as well it slowed us down here we are going through the clouds now and the the decla supposed to be around 3,600 with the scattered at 2,800 we'll see if that is the case and we'll get another vector here in a second so we can pick up feste we're kind of just dancing right along the clouds here surfing any precipitation well we need to turn our engine anti-ice on anyway just in case because it is cold out there quite a bit remember so 231 220 on speed or below 220 now so we can go flaps one here they go and let's go ahead and Victor ourselves the left basically right due north will be nice left base here and were slowed down to 190 ever so slightly we can put the speed breaks away we don't need those suckers out anymore since we have this flaps out and make sure those are armed again and they are wonderful we see the diamonds are starting to show up here on our PFD almost a 3,000 feet here oh I hear them saying announcements that's new that is new we're gonna let them know that we're gonna be landing you see the landing lights painting on the clouds that's another cool thing about X and viral you get that slow up to 180 here that looks good airplanes holding 3,000 feet 180 knots you see flaps to it's going to be 200 so we want 190 on that we're well in that range so we're gonna go to that in just a second here so let's make sure we vector ourselves to feste pretty good we don't want to have to part of a intercept angle on the ILS but these arrivals into Philadelphia are kind of interesting because it's a very long racetrack pattern to get sequenced if you've ever flown into Philadelphia in real life you know exactly what I'm talking about not always the easiest will say that okay we go flaps two it's gonna bring that nose down and help the airplane out quite a bit all right let's get on to our intercept heading here about three two zero it looks like that will be the case for us the pretty good angle there let me go a little bit more to the left here as shallow as possible it's gonna make it easier on the airplane to to capture it so ground spoilers are armed seatbelts no smoking engine anti-ice right now let's go ahead turn those babies off or below that deck wonderful lane lights are on and armed the approach we have the localizer localized is alive you can see the runway right off our nose there a little bit we are still technically in the clouds three miles the torn intersection so got a little bit of time so it's good to keep it right here at 180 I'm happy with it monitoring the airplane it's gonna be so cool ban and the new the new so now we're not seeing the lights too much there but with the new Microsoft Flight Simulator man I cannot wait for that it's gonna be cool to not be able to see underneath the clouds that's for certain okay everything's looking good right now if we were if we couldn't see lights in front of us we wouldn't care everything right here looks nice and dandy winds are pretty much down the runway just a little off to our right hand side none not cross when you can see that little magenta cross there in the the diamond are right next to each other that's that helps you with your center line when you're in a crosswind we have the glide slip right there wonderful so we're gonna go gear down and we'll go flaps three and let's slow down to 145 Gavin's ready beautiful that's what we like to see and breaking out of the clouds right now wonderful now the gear is down and go turn off that was already on and that was already on so everything's talking the whole time since we were below 10,000 I didn't even think to change that out all right 2500 my airplane it is my airplane of course with the Airbus system you you know you're going to leave your auto thrust on all the way down back up on that glide slope manually but it's fun to hand fly this sucker six miles from the runway right now just a little bit longer to go first time I ever flew into Philly in real life we landed on that little short runway with the RJ CRJ that was cool and you can see all those docks and everything they're about five miles there that's cool laughs full you know I have to do is try not to smash this thing into the ground I'm using my vkb gladiator stick on the left side so I have that side stick action and we're a little bit to the right here so we get back on that green diamond there we go looking good right there I've used my thrust master a warthog stick on an Airbus but it's very heavy and it's not as mushy and doesn't that spring back action to it that's what I like about the gladiator it does it's mushy and it feels like you're you know kind of on a fly-by-wire system goes down a little bit here there we go looking good I'm trying to stay on my little green diamond here for centerline yeah we gonna bring those back up a little bit so we had a little bit of a displaced threshold here to seven left and is up a little bit more hundreds of us landing oh gee 20 come on baby hit those touchdowns on there we go Marisa's are out by the nosewheel down our break-off manual braking second on sustained all righty we have made it here to Philadelphia fun little flight man doing those real short hops we make this turn I think we can I think we're gonna make this turn no problem now we're have to continue down yep just barely missed it that's all right while we're doing that bring those speed breaks back in by the way on the replay mode you're gonna notice the spoilers come out before the touchdown I don't know why it does that it's a known thing with toeless that they deploy before we touchdown but you'll notice if that wasn't the case all the way down here to the end we'll make a right-hand turn and that will be that all right sweet so let's go ahead and clean up the airplane master switch for the APU comes on and go to the APU page on that guy we're gonna wait for the flap to open up well exit right here on the right definitely use the break fan I have a feeling we use our brakes a little hard on that one I mean it'll tell you if that's the case but we'll see what they say all right as we exit to seven left make a right here on to the taxiway clean up the airplane bring our flaps in the flap is open for the APU that's wonderful news that's what we like to see into the v.i.c station right there that's cool all right let's go ahead and start the APU and turn off our strobes turn offs come off landing lights come off winged light off but that goes to taxi and there we go welcome to Philadelphia everybody took 41 minutes total to go from runway to runway [Applause] I don't see anybody on file where you're going across to seven right so let's turn those strobe lights to the on position here make our left turn here we're almost to the gate actually and we'll cross right here you see the JetBlue playing off our nose that's where we're going looks like we have a mixture of the static airplanes and traffic global together here that's why we're seeing some planes that are old and outdated compared to the newer ones some weird anomalies happening with that that's the gate we're going to right over here let's go ahead and turn our nose light to the opposition we've got the gate in sight there I don't think we have a marshallers Oh nope no Marshall er no Auto gate who's gonna do this ourselves manually [Applause] all right parking brake comes on and we have made it folks wear on the APU power there and kill the engines welcome to Philadelphia go ahead and make sure your seat belt signs off there we go and we are good to go for that flight what a fun one that was always enjoy the to--let's a319 one thing I'm learning with the air buses just you got a flair it a lot more than what I'm used to especially when you bring those back yeah see there's that brakes hot message so we should have used our brake fan we'll turn them on right now so that'll help out delete takeoff for cool you got it but that's gonna go for this one I'll see you guys next time take care you
