Airbnb is joining the movement
in terms of permanent work from home. Basically, working for Airbnb
will allow you to not only work from anywhere you want in your current country,
but starting September you will be able to work
from anywhere in the world. Hey, welcome and welcome
back to the Channel. My name is Laura and on this channel
we talk loads about working from home and making money online. We look at remote jobs and online jobs. We take a look at freelancing,
starting a business and loads of ways to reach financial independence. And in today's video, we are going to take a closer
look at Airbnb's most recent announcement in terms of their new flexible
work design. If you currently work for Airbnb,
we will discuss what that means to you, but also if you're interested
in working for Airbnb. We will take a look at all the jobs that
they are currently looking to hire for and whether or not those qualify for you
to apply, depending on where you live and whether you can do them
remotely or online. Make sure you stick around till the end
because towards the end we will reveal if Airbnb is or not
a good place to work in and we will take a look at current
employee feedback where they give all the details, all the insights on
how it is to work for Airbnb. So let's dove in. Only a few days ago, Brian Chesky,
Airbnb CEO, sent a note to his entire employee community
sharing more details about his plan and the decision that the leadership team
had made in terms of Airbnb's new flexible work design. There are five principle in this memo
that have been shared with the employee community,
and I think for today's video, the first three, not for the first three,
are the most relevant. So let's take them one by one
very quickly, because I think it's important to understand them
before we can go into which jobs they're looking to hire
for Principle number one that he shared is that anyone working for Airbnb, with very few exceptions, can work however they choose, either from home, from the office, or a combination thereof. Obviously,
the offices will continue to be open but there is loads of trust
in the entire employee community that they will be able to choose
for themselves together. With their manager and their teams on which is the best
working environment for them. What's the best working set up? So if you currently work for Airbnb
or if you will get a job with them based on what we will discuss
a little bit later, then no, that unless your job is one of the very few that need to be present at the office
or in a certain location, then you can work remotely or from home
as you choose. Principle number two
is that you can work from anywhere you want in the country
that is hiring you immediately. Not only that, but you will also
potentially get a salary increase depending on where your salary base
line had been established initially. So if you already work for Airbnb,
what that means is that you will be able
to work for them, continue doing that, but you'll be able to do it
regardless of where you've been hired. That office is not so relevant anymore. You will be able to travel
across the country that you are based in and where you've been hired,
and you might get a salary increase moving forward
if you will get a job with Airbnb. What that means to you
is that you will get hired in a country. You'll get the average salary
for that country and you will be able to be based anywhere you want
that could be in the countryside, it could be in the city,
it could be wherever your heart desires. Principle number three
is that starting September, you will be able to work
for a period of up to 90 days in any country in the world from a list
of 170 that they are making available. So they will continue to support their employees
with whatever lifestyle they choose. So if you wanted to become a digital nomad
and you want to maybe explore other locations, travel
to different countries, then Airbnb is an amazing company
to work for because starting September you will be able to do that
while continuing your job with Airbnb. All right,
so let me give you what you're here for. Let's take a look at the current jobs
that Airbnb are looking to hire for. So I'm going to go ahead and share my screen
and take you through every single step. So what I'm going to need you to do
is to come to careers dot Airbnb dot com,
and you'll come to this website that will show you
everything you need to know about Airbnb's working experience, their principles,
their values and their offering. Currently as you can see, they have 208
open positions across 62 locations. And we will take a look at
which are those 62 locations. We will talk about First of all,
the full time employee positions. Then we will go into the freelancer
and contractor ones and then we'll talk
about their university program. So let's go ahead and click on all jobs. When you come to all jobs,
you will now see the different departments that the open positions
are part of like administrative Airbnb, capacity center, business operations
and analysis, community support, data science design, employee experience
and so forth. They even have four intern positions. So you can obviously go ahead
and first of all, filter based on the department
that you're interested in. Or you can first
take a look at the locations. They have these jobs open. And so there are tons of open
opportunities in the United States. And as I said, it
doesn't really matter where they're open because you will be able to do them
from anywhere in the U.S. at least before September We have India,
China, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, the U.K., Luxembourg, Philippines,
Mexico, Italy, Canada, France, Brazil, South Korea,
Singapore, Australia, Japan. Quite a few options. I know that many of you are based
in these countries. Some of you are not
but that will probably change. So please do keep an eye out on
other locations that they will be opening. For those of you
who are based in one of these countries, what you're going to need to do
is obviously go ahead and select one of the departments
that you are interested in. Seeing the jobs for, let's say, Airbnb
capacity center. Many of these jobs,
as you can see, are based out of India. We're talking production design
or technical recruiting, engineering, lead administrative coordinator, engineering
manager, data scientist, and so forth. If we go to community support, for
example, we have a diversity of locations. Some of them are based in Ireland,
some are in Philippines, some in Canada, and we're talking about regional manager
quality training, lead analytics and insights,
senior analyst and so forth. If you want to take a look
at the intern positions those are related to legal data science, communications
and public policy intern. These are basically the four positions
that they have currently open for their university program. You can learn a lot more
about their university program if you go ahead here at the top
and click on university, they give you all the details in terms
of how they recruit, what you can expect if you're a new graduate
and what their intent program entails. Let's go back to our job search
so we can take a look at what an application process looks like. So let's say that you are interested
in the senior manager UX writing position. It is open in many, many locations
across the United States, as you can see. So go ahead and click on it. It explains to you in detail
the role overview, the responsibilities that you would have
if you take this job. What kind of requirements they're looking
for in terms of candidate profile? And then if you do feel
that you qualify for that, you can go ahead and click apply now the application process, as you can see,
it's pretty straightforward. Nothing super, super complicated
because it is based in the U.S. They do require that you answer
some specific questions related to your employment situation
in the U.S. But other than that, you just go ahead
fill in your information, you upload your resume
and your cover letter. That's basically it. And if you want, you can also apply
directly via LinkedIn once you've applied, you will become part of their system
and you will start going through the phases
of the recruitment process, through the interviews,
the connections with the h.R. Now, if you're not looking for a full time
job with Airbnb and you rather start
or have only a contract relationship then you should go ahead
and click on contract or freelance work. And currently
they have four roles open in 62 locations and that's mainly because they probably
not always care where you're based. Let's see, in this case, all four of them
seem to be open in San Francisco. And the ones they have available,
we're talking service care manager for image service
care manager for Korea and Japan one for Singapore, and then a marketplace
listing photographer. I think with this in mind,
the opportunities across Airbnb are very diverse. As you've seen, you have opportunities
and administrative, you have opportunities in finance, in legal, in marketing
and engineering and design, in writing, no matter what your background is,
there should be something in here for you as long as you are
based in one of those 62 locations. And let's say about 20 countries
that we could go through because as I said, it
doesn't really matter where you're based right now, as long as you
are in one of those countries now, the next thing
that I would like to do is to go with you through some employee feedback,
because at the end of the day, you do want to know if
this is a good company to work for or not. So you don't bother
with the application process. If this is not the kind of working
environment that you are looking for. So I'm going to go ahead
and share my screen again and take a look at a website called
Comparably where we can dove into employee feedback
about working for Airbnb. So when you come to comparably,
what you can see is that the culture score for Airbnb
is at 4.1 out of five, which is definitely one of the higher ones
that we've seen. Their CEO, Brian Chesky,
also has really good feedback, his among top 5% CEOs
in terms of their SEO score. So it definitely looks like there is good
experience. Employee reviews show 75% satisfaction, while only 25% seem
to not be extremely excited about working for Airbnb, what they see
is that they enjoy taking on projects that are challenging and attempting
to repair and improve operations. But they are saying that compensation
is not necessarily as good as it could be
in terms of diversity score. They have a good ranking. They're within top 35%, but definitely
lots of room for improvement. As we have for their gender score,
which is in the lower 40%. You can take a look here
and see a lot of details in terms of what a day in the life looks like,
how many meetings you would have, how much you would work, how much you would engage with
your colleagues, your team and so forth. And then as far as salaries are concerned, as you can see, on average, depending on the type of role
that you have if you have one of the lower range salaries like community manager
or administrative assistant, you can expect to make on average
about $50,000 within a year,
although it can go as high as 68 or $90,000
depending on your level of seniority. And obviously the experience and expertize
that you are bringing to the table in terms of their highest salaries,
obviously their leadership team, their VP of sales
of product and engineering seemed to be making over 250, $270,000. All in all,
the feedback seems to be relatively good employees
seem to be happy working for Airbnb, although it might not be the most diverse and gender inclusive environment. And there is lots of opportunity
for them to improve their overall. It looks like it's a fast pace,
it's an opportunity to grow environment. So definitely take a look
at what they have to offer. Thank you so, so much for watching. I hope this video was helpful for you. Until next time, I suggest you go ahead
and watch this video where we do the exact same thing,
but for Tesla. So if you're interested in working for Tesla,
especially in getting a work from home or remote job that this is the video
you want to watch next. Thank you again
and I'll see you next time. Five
