[Music] [Music] cause right now it ain't about [Music] boy you're foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] but [Music] young folks [Music] good morning parallel and west we are coming to the tail end of this covert crisis we don't have that much longer to go however we are fully aware as your leadership how easy it is to get lulled into complacency the early church had to meet in the home when they were under distress they met from house to house but they recognized that they were there for the purpose of worshiping when they assembled together the leadership wants you to not allow yourself to get distracted don't get lulled into complacency consequently we have put together some suggestions for you that we believe will help you to get the most out of your worship experience listen to these 10 suggestions and attempt to implement them in your home as you transform your home into your sanctuary be on time worship service starts at 10 15. sing along with the song leader stand when taking communion bow your head during prayers and pray along with the prayer leader take off your pjs dress reverently clothes affect how we feel and how we behave have your bible open during the sermon put everything aside and focus on the worship worship along with family members and not all on separate devices pay attention to your environment and reduce any distractions prepare for service by preparing your mind with prayer meditation or religious music dear lord we come this morning thanking you for the blessings of life for the blessings of love and father we thank you for the blessing of sending your son jesus down to this sin cursed world so that we all may have salvation father we ask that your word guides us guides every step of our lives that your holy spirit is constantly in our lives just father showing us the way the way the truth and the way to understand your will so that we can father understand the word that you've given us and we can take that and not only apply it to our lives but be able to show others the beauty and the peace of being a child of god as we come worshipping you this morning we pray that our worship of you is pleasing to you we ask that you be with our minister as he has studied your word and he's sharing it with the rest of us we ask that you be with those that have produced this wonderful digital worship service father we have to understand that this comes from you and this is a blessing that you've given us that even in a pandemic a global pandemic that's affected the whole world you still allow us to obey your truths continue to watch over each and every family of pearland west be with each household whether father full of children mother father whether a single household father just watch over your children and keep them and bless them and protect them we love you father and we pray these things through your son jesus christ amen all right forget about all your troubles [Music] [Applause] [Music] thank you [Music] yes [Applause] [Music] we now come to a part of our worship service the communion where we remember the death burial and resurrection of our lord and savior jesus christ we find scriptural example in acts chapter 20 and verse number 7 where it reads and upon the first day of the week when the disciples came together to break bread paul preached unto them ready to depart on the moral and continued his speech until midnight first corinthians chapter 11 and verse number 23 says for i have received of the lord that which also i delivered unto you that the lord jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread for as often as you eat the bread and drink this cup you do show the lord's death until he come wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread and drink of the cup of the lord unworthily shall be guilty of the body and blood of the lord but let a man examine himself and so let him eat of that bread and drink of that cup for he that eateth and drinketh unworthily eateth and drink of damnation to himself not discerning the lord's body verse number 24 first corinthians chapter 11 says and when he had given thanks he break it and said take eat this is my body which is broken for you let's do in remembrance of me let's pray for the bread together most holy and honorable heavenly father thank you for loving us so much that you gave your only begotten son to die for our sins forgive us of all of our sins by word thought or deed so that we may take this bread to represent your son's broken body on the cross with a clean hands and a pure heart these and other blessings we ask in jesus name amen you may now take the bread first corinthians chapter 11 and verse number 25 says after the same manner also he took the cup when he had sup saying this cup is the new testament in my blood this do ye as often as you drink it in remembrance of me let us pray for the cup together again heavenly father we thank you for jesus we thank you for his willingness to die for the crop for our sins and him taking our place on the cross of calvary we take this cup that represents your son's shed blood for without the shedding of blood there could be no forgiveness of sin these and other blessings we ask in jesus name amen let us take the cup we want to instruct you on how you can give your tithes and offering online you simply go to the official pearland west church bountifully shall reap also bountifully every man according to purpose in his heart so let him give not gradually or of necessity for god loveth the cheerful giver and god is able to make all grace abound toward you that ye always having all sufficiency in all things may abound to every good work let us pray for the contribution kind master we come to you giving you all thanks honor and glory and praise we thank you father for this opportunity to give back that of which you have given us a small portion father we pray for the pearl and west uh congregation that we use it in a timely and [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] good morning everyone welcome to the parallel west worship experience on last lord's day we started an entirely new idea any of that good news we're looking at two texts isaiah 53 and isaiah 54. let's go ahead and get directly in our message this morning take out your copy of god's word prepare your hearts let's study let's see what god has to say to us right now come go back with me to isaiah chapter 54. let's look at verses 1 and let's read through verse 5. single barren woman you who never bore a child burst into song shout for joy you who were never in labor because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband says the lord enlarge the place of your tent stretch your tent curtains wide do not hold back lengthen your cords strengthen your stakes for you will spread out to the right and to the left your descendants will dispossess nations and settle in their desolate cities do not be afraid you will not suffer shame do not fear disgrace you will not be humiliated you will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood for your maker is your husband the lord almighty is his name the holy one of israel is your redeemer he is called the god of all the earth now in last lord's day we launched an idea aina that good news we borrowed that from the old negro spiritual enter that good news i shared the lyrics to the song with you on last lord's day i told you that we want to talk about the gospel and not just talk about the gospel but we're actually focusing on the results of the gospel we want to look at the theme of any of that good news but we want to look at it from the standpoint of seeing the results of the gospel brotherly what are the results of the gospel the gospel results in restructuring of your heart now ain't event good news the gospel results in the removal of all of your sins not any of that good news and the gospel results and the reversal of your values now ain't of that good news last lord's day we started looking at the idea that the gospel restructures your heart we spent a lot of time looking at the fact that in the ancient culture women were oppressed and we spent time examining the culture and the relationship of the culture with women and then we came around and we shared with you the idea that every culture every culture is responsible for some form of oppression and i closed out by saying to you last lord's day it is almost impossible when everybody else is going after these objects that we have allowed to become ultimate objects not to go along with them and to just be enslaved and to just be crushed as everyone else in the culture is i pointed out that i hope you noticed i said it's almost impossible it's almost impossible because god says that there is a way out there is a way to emotional inner freedom and cultural freedom i said last lord's day that we would look at it i asked the question well brotherly what is it what is the way out how is it that we can get out from under the oppression of the culture in which we live let's go back and let's look at the text we're going to go back to the text and god says in this ancient culture look at isaiah chapter 54 zoom in with me on verse number one notice what the text reads seeing o'barren woman you who never bore a child now notice what the text says there the text says seen o barren woman what he is calling women to do is culturally radical here he is calling women to inner emotional freedom freedom from shame of a culture he's calling women to a cultural freedom he is calling women to freedom from external oppressive structures what does he say he is saying i can give you freedom i can give you freedom from me i can give you freedom from family i can give you freedom from what culture tells you i can give you freedom i can enable you to be able to sing without children in other words look at the paradox here when we look at isaiah chapter 54 and verse 1 again he says sing o barren woman you who never bore a child but then when you drop down a little further in the same verse it says because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband now what this is saying and i need you to understand that it is deliberately paradoxical what this is saying is the woman who never had any children has more children than the woman who has had a lot of children did you hear what i said there what he is teaching us here is the woman who never had any children has more children than the woman who had a lot of children somebody said well that doesn't make any sense brotherly that doesn't make any sense but it does make sense when you realize that children represent something in that culture and we talked about this on last week in that culture children represent something children represent value children represent worth children represent beauty children represent honor god is saying there is a value god is saying there is a worth god is saying there is a beauty god is saying there is an honor available apart from children this was utterly radical in that culture well what is the source of that what is the source of what he's sharing here he says in isaiah chapter 54 and verse number five go there with me for your maker is your husband the lord almighty is his name the holy one of israel is your redeemer he is called the god of all the earth oh did you hear what the bible says there the bible said for your maker is your husband for your maker is your husband now previously in colossians chapter 3 we looked at a very very long theological exposition but here isaiah sums up what paul said in this incredibly beautiful image and metaphor what did paul say what is isaiah saying what is the bible saying the bible says that every other religion says life is all about trying trying trying trying hard trying hard to live up to a standard and if you really really try hard if you give it all that you have and and really really try hard at the end of your life you will have a positive verdict on your behalf and you'll go to heaven and you'll meet god or something to that effect in other words if you try really really really hard you're in but christianity christianity is is absolutely different than that christianity is about a standing christianity is about a legal standing it's about coming into something but coming into something right now it is being united to god through jesus christ and the perfect metaphor to help us understand this idea of standing is marriage marriage is the perfect example for us and i believe that if we look at the the institution of marriage it will help you to understand the legal standing that we receive and experience through jesus christ that places us in god why because on one hand marriage is the most intense love relationship possible and yet it is also a legal status which the moment before you take your vows you don't have at all and the second that you take your vows you have completely and let me run that by you again it's about a status and marriage is the best example to help you understand this principle about this status that we have in christ jesus that we have in god the father through christ jesus because on one hand as i stated earlier marriage is the most intense love relationship that is humanly possible and yet it's also a legal status and the moment before you take your vows you don't have the status but the second after you take your vows you have the status completely it's not like you try try try this is what christianity has to offer you something that no other religion in the world dares to offer you it says that when you are united to god through jesus christ the verdict is in when you give your life to jesus christ and you are baptized into the body the verdict is in you have the applause of the father right now you have the praise of the father right now the father delights in you right now no one else even begins to try to offer you such a thing no other religion in the world offers you what christianity has to offer so what is god saying in this passage he's saying don't look to anything else i can be your value and what greater value could you possibly have than to be delighted in than to be sacrificed for than to be loved by the maker of the universe he says look at all the other things that the world tries to lure you with look at all the other things that the world tries to get your attention with good things they're good things out here in the world they're good things but what we have a tendency to do is to turn around and turn them into ultimate things what god is saying to you this morning is the world has a lot of things to offer you and culture will tell you if you don't have these things that you are nobody but what god is telling you this morning is don't try and get your value from these things don't try and get your sense of beauty from these things don't try to get your sense of honor from these things don't try to get your sense of significance from these things don't do that don't do that to yourselves what god is saying to you is that you need freedom from those things you need freedom from them and then you can love them you need freedom from them so that you can properly love them and you will find that freedom only when your heart rests in me he says the way you rest in bed at the end of a long day you'll find that kind of freedom only when your heart savors me god says the way you savor a glass of cold water in the middle of a desert and if you have that if you have that then you have a completely different sort of identity you have cultural freedom then you have emotional freedom then you can live in your culture and not be oppressed by your culture every culture says these are all good things every culture has themes every culture has emphases every culture has strengths but they won't enslave you anymore if you recognize the relationship that you can have with god and the value and significance you get from that relationship when you understand that the world can't crush you why because you'll be restructured in your heart and when you're restructured in your heart you're restructured in your identity now i don't know about you but ain't that good news i personally think that's wonderful news what you need to do is understand god is offering you something that the world cannot offer you and if you allow yourself to to to restructure your values restructure your heart and allow yourself to embrace what god has to offer you then all of a sudden it it it creates a paradigm shift and the things that were valuable to you before they still have value but they no longer have ultimate value they won't crush you because your heart will be restructured now here's what i'm going to do we had a shorter thought this morning but i'm going to stop right here as we finish that particular segment because i'm going to come back on next lord's day and i want you to go and look at isaiah chapter 53 and we're going to focus on a another image we're going to look at the image of the suffering savior and we're going to look at how that the gospel enables you to remove your sins not any of that good news [Music] give myself away so you can't use me i give myself away oh why [Music] me [Music] is [Music] myself away [Music] father we have just heard another glorious message we thank you for the word this morning we thank you for the lessons taught we thank you for the messenger and we just pray that you continue to bless this household and father we pray that we can take what we've heard and father be able to live a life that will lead people back to you that you will use us your children to do your will on this earth continue to watch over each and every person that's that's witnessed this worship service that's participated in this worship service and just bless them this week we love you and thank you as we pray through jesus christ your son amen
