ACW Macgyver Survival Kit - The Jack of All Trades??

hey what's going on youtube back at it again marinex here and it is just something that is always you got to think about is your edc smaller survival kit you saw me do the long extended mini survival kit those kits are kind of more designed for your edc mini survival kits and they give you the different options for just in case you want to keep this you want to keep that you know i've gone through those kits extensively and i kind of leaned on my top two favorites but i'm gonna talk about one of those today but first if you're the type of person that likes man cave survival kits all that good is this thing truly the macgyver kid they've coined it that they coined this kit to kind of be a jack of all trades kit where you can take this as an edc backup or it can be an emergency kit for all types of situations you saw me briefly go over this in a mini survival kit but now i kind of want to just rip this thing open and kind of just go all the way in to make a determination is this something that can truly be a backup or is this something that's nah i'll pass so acw um they are a kind of a survival company prepping type company all that good stuff and they are really uh known for having out of the box thinking when it comes to survival type kids this kit has over 175 items this is called their macgyver kit you can buy the bag itself or you can buy it as a total kit now i opted to get the entire kit because i really wanted to be able to use this um you know as a supplement for an emergency kit now you guys have seen my my essie advanced survival kit review that bag has made its way into my truck but now i need something that's going to be in the wife's truck so we land here at the acw tactical macgyver kit it's in your face it's pretty nice the bag is very very loudly screaming tactical survival esque first we start off with the back of the bag we see the entire back of the bag has a molle system that you can attach itself to another bag the entire bag itself you can rip this off so imagine you have this attached to another bag now you're able to rip this away and you have the ability to quickly access the kit itself so i'm going to get rid of the back slowly start taking this thing apart the the front of the bag has well done webbing molly type wedding webbing you can put some morale patches or you can put identification for whatever you intend to keep in this bag so if it's a medical bag if you've supplemented with other items you can put that there i've put a patch for the marine corps semper fi so it has several points on the front to kind of help tie it down a little bit so the zippers themselves obviously keep the bag closed and then there's this little velcro strap it's one additional layer of protection i will say i wish this had ykk zippers it would be a little bit more durable does have loops on the bottom here and these loops seem to be useful for different use cases if you have this attached and you want to be able to sling this downwards kind of what you've seen in my urban fight kit so this i would not necessarily hang this by this strap in the back just because the strap is actually kind of long it seems it's well stitched like this stitching is really good but it's a really long strap and i just feel like it it can be vulnerable because of how long it is then also here you can adapt this to how you see fit so if you need to adapt the straps if you want to be able to attach it in different ways even turn it into kind of a shoulder sling or whatever you can use these straps here so the outside of the bag also has a couple more areas where you can attach something via the straps in the front so the bag itself opens up completely in a clamshell fashion one thing i really like about the bag is that it's so much stuff in here that they have to give you a kind of a road map so they kind of tell you welcome to the acw omnifunction macgyver pack this thing has stuff all over the place and i kind of wanted to dig a little bit deeper because if you're thinking about something that might be for a good emergency it might be a good supplement this might be the kit for you this kit has made its way into my wife's vehicle as the emergency kit for that it was a hard choice between this kit and the actual the essie the tactical tin that they make you see me do a review on that but i'm going to put that kit to use as well so the bag itself folds out into different areas it folds out flaps different sides the flaps are also removable and i think we'll just dig in and they really want you to be able to use this kit in different logical manner so some things that are in the kit may not make immediate sense to you because there's not an immediate use case for the item so we start at the top of the bag case in point one of the first things we see here is a glue stick now this is a glue stick and they obviously did not include a glue gun but this is for you to maybe apply in sun apply with a magnification glass you have a glue stick you have a couple of golf tees you can now everything that i'd explain in here i'm going to try to quickly think of an adaptation for it that doesn't necessarily mean it's the complete and 100 right answer i can imagine using golf tees if i'm trying to elevate tinder or if i'm trying to get some air circulation around something i might want to use some golf tees for that they also give you a pencil obviously you know what a pencil is for for writing or whatnot you can also use the shavings from a pencil for a type of tinder so the bag itself opens up into these little wings the wings are removable so we can take off this first section here and they provide a little see-through case in the case itself has a jolly rancher you can obviously eat the jolly rancher as candy but you can also use it as a sticky tactical device i used to actually as a kid don't tell anybody i did this to we used to actually take jolly ranchers and we would suck on them a little bit and we would throw them on windshields and they're extremely adhesive like once these things are on you damn near have to chip them off with like a scraper or something like that and it's kind of kept in this little see-through medic you know case where you might want to adapt this with some matches or whatever all right so next to that is their fishing kit now none of these items i have directly tested i hate just being just the one to just kind of go in and rip this stuff out but i've fished a lot and it does seem like they have quite a few nice fishing items in here i see some lures and some hooks you know just some basic things that can help you in a survival situation they also give you a little booklet that goes along with that next to that item is duct tape in an emergency cloth now i think the way they did this is pretty smart so it's duct tape right but in tucked in the middle is a little bit of emergency cloth just in case you need to use that cloth for whatever reason so that's well done so you have a little bit of emergency cloth some duct tape so they get really really bacon lettuce and tomato with the fire starting area so in the fire starting area we do have a fire starter and they give you actually instructions on how to use the fire starting tool super smart right if you buy this bag if you never use this type of stuff before like why not give instructions they gave instructions for the fishing kit now they give instructions for the fire starter and then they also give you a basic bic very dependable lighter if this is your backup kit you're not necessarily going to discriminate against the bic right so just having a good big lighter in here is a good go-to as well next to that let's see we got in here this thing is jammed in here i can already tell going through this thing i'm definitely going to want to supplement but i need to see what i'm going to supplement with and how this would be used and i like the fact the reason that this made it into my wife's car versus the sdk because so many of the items have instructions and if it ever came down to it i at least might want my wife to have a little bit of instructions if she needs to do something so here we have an epoxy kit so there's a little bit of epoxy in here there's also super glue in here there's also just all sorts of little things you can use in different use case situations so it's not all a science right so it includes the epoxy it includes super glue they also have a toothpick in here there is a pipe cleaner so their little version of like a little utility package and multiple use cases there i like the fact that they're giving you these options this is a sewing kit this is actually one of the most extensive sewing kits i've seen a period in a uh in a survival kit also has a razor blade in the back several sewing needles several pieces of different options for thread so this is all kind of on this first flap we'll move over to this next flap area here here we have a cork now what do you want to use a cork for yeah you might want to be using that sewing needle that sewing set you might want to keep a hold of the needles while you're using those you might have other use cases for a cork they also include a little candle in here just a tea candle i'll pull that thing all the way out right now now this is a this is what they call kit h so all these kits right so the first kit that we looked at was kit u this is kit h all these kits have different things inside of them for you to get your macgyver on right it has a dial in here it has safety pins it has screws which are awesome be phillips head there's also some nails in there there's a twist tie if you need to be able to quickly twist together some electrical wire or any other use case there's a washer different size nails in here there's a spindle in there there are also small clamps force engage different wire just different things that you can use to adapt an issue or problem that you're currently having they give you a little roll of electrical tape it's also stored in its own bag so kind of keep the adhesive from sticking to other things especially if you're keeping this in a hot environment and above that they give you a little bit of tinder for the fire starting ability below that is the compass so it's super small super i mean it works but a super small compass it is has a little bit of cordage with it as well as a little led light all right so you see the little led light in the compass and below all of that so this is a little bit of fire steel so even more assistance with being able to get a fire started and you know how my feeling is when it comes to like fire starting stuff and all that good stuff in most scenarios you're not gonna need that stuff but if and when that does come it is going to be nice to have multiple ways to start a fire most of my survival situations my intent is to get my ass home but if i'm not able to do that then having the ability to start a fire is good i would much prefer to stay in my vehicle keep warm there but if i got to get out look at all these options just in these first two uh areas that have to do with fire starting let's transition to the middle of the bag so we got masks right so obviously we are in the world of where you kind of need a mask i'm probably not going to keep these in here uh i would prefer to use this spot for something else maybe even maybe have some type of rope or something in here some playing cards i guess if you're going to be stuck somewhere for a very long time a little some mini playing cards just something that could be useful so as we go into this middle portion here we have a kim light so i'm assuming there's some type of paracord in here you can take this kim light snap it be able to spin this around and have an emergency tool they give you a toothbrush you know just be able to keep that hygiene together as you go through another set of playing cards so i guess they just really don't want you to be bored or for maybe that first set or you're getting your macgyver on whatever the case may be look at this bag of ties different ties zip ties velcro ties it's just different options of ties that you can use and have and have different use cases for these ties how many times have you been rolling down the road my truck is 100 paid for you know if i have a major issue with my truck or minor issue in my truck and i can just simply duct tape it and velcro it or zip tie it i would definitely be uh happy to do that in a heartbeat we have some rigid wire so this wire is very very rigid watch i mean just a amount of compression i have to take just to move this wire around is going to be really good if you're going to be different use cases it's electrical wires so you can still use it to run a current through it but it is just so much tension that you can use it as a tie down they also give you a straw the straw itself i don't think it's one of those straws that does any filter type stuff on it but it's a straw itself it's a very rigid straw you can reuse this thing nothing else right there but it does include a very nice cloth and or bandanna rather and inside of the bandana is a signal is a mirror you can use to signal you can kind of see my camera in the in the mirror as well as a little paper funnel which you can use in an emergency use case and that is it for the bandana but i like the fact that they kind of slip that in the bandana that's actually really smart and plenty of room to add stuff so i can put this back here i can put all those items back this is another this is a magnification um like little glass so you can use this with the tinder that they provided you and help also another way to help you get started your big lighter is out you're out of this you're out of tinder they give you a wire saw this wire saw without me even digging this wire saw without me even digging deep into the saw itself i can tell that it seems to be nice i don't like the adaptation this kind of gives me like a fishing the fishing hook vibe but this adaptation to connect it to the actual rings itself i don't know how durable this would be compared to the essie kit there seems to be a little bit more robust but it's in here it is not as cheap as some of the the kits that are definitely 100 chinese i don't know where a lot of this stuff is made you know i'm assuming a lot of stuff is coming from overseas but they seems like they try to give you as best quality as they could identify so they also provide a tampon it's kind of another reason why this made it into my wife's truck but you have an emergency used tampon just in case you can use that a number of ways obviously a woman can use it as she sees fit but tampon has the ability to soak up a lot of liquid so if you need that for a use case to suck up maybe to extract out of a wound so forth and so on you can 100 use it for that reason but the middle itself it's pretty rigid it has room to store extra items let's move on to the bottom of the kit the bottom of the kit has one more fold out section so we'll start here we have tweezers which you never know when you need some tweezers they also give you a surgical blade so a sterile surgical blade so just in case you had to do some type of major action to your own body you have a sterile blade included in the bag that you could use and they give you a file now i guess the reason to have to keep those surgical masks in here might be if you're trying to do some type of like surgical work you have a surgical mask i'm not qualified to do that type of stuff if there was an all-out emergency where i needed to use a surgical blade to do some type of precision cut who cares if i'm wearing a surgical mask it's probably an emergency let's make it happen they separately give you some use case velcro so however you see fit you can take this velcro stick it to two different items now you have some velcro that you can use and as we transition into the bottom part of this main bag here we see some all weather emergency bags so these all-weather emergency bags i've never heard of them i don't even know what brand they are i guess according to this lightweight emergency survival bag shelters against wind retains body heat okay so it says it's an emergency bag i guess it's it's also an emergency blanket for maximum heat retention cover in cover the head whole tape i don't know how durable these are gonna be these seem pretty i mean they they sound better than the normal emergency blankets but sounds can be deceiving they give you some contractor bags as well nice to have some contractor bags here's another copy of the loadout kit so if you're kind of wondering what is what there's another just in case you lose that first copy there's a total additional 8 by 11 page that gives you a little bit more detail on what you're you're looking at they give you their combat field manual which is i mean relatively thick i mean this thing feels like a legit manual they keep it in this bag so water resistant bag so now you have a lot of different pages in here that talks about different plants things you can eat things you can encounter what happens if this happens you know it can help you convert voltage it helps you to use the items in this bag so now you have this entire kit you have all these items and they're giving you different quote unquote macgyver use cases for the items that they provided you i think that's really smart especially if you've never used this type of stuff before they give you a uh well obviously this is filter papers so it looks like coffee filter papers different filter papers that you can use uh for filtering water what else we got in here all this is for filtering different filtering cases they also give you a little piece of paper so you can take some notes with that pencil that we saw in another part of the bag one of the most unique multi-tools so they give you a multi-tool no name generic multi-tool i've never heard of this before but they also give you a bunch of drill bits so now you can take these drill bits connected to this multi-tool and you can now have different multiple use cases for you have some hex keys in here you have some flathead some phillips so you have multiple use cases for all the different kits that they have throughout the bag and so yeah you're going to be hand cranking it there's no power tools out there but if you have the time and you have the emergency on your hands and you're going to be hand cranking a phillips head screw into a piece of wood you're going to do it because you need it done they also give you some foil some aluminum foil multiple use cases and they give you quite a bit of aluminum foil as well so you can use this for the purposes of signaling you can use it for cooking you can use it for retaining heat or whatever around an object then they give you some paracord here at the top and they actually give you quite a bit of paracord so now you can use this paracord obviously we know we can use 550 core multiple use cases so that is this middle portion or this middle section here we transition to the bottom of the bag the bottom of the bag is dedicated to their medical section so the first thing you see here it has band-aids it has q-tips it has saline you know it has uh you know just different things that you're going to be able to use in different instances i would open this up and get familiar with it and that way you just know that i have these different items that i'm going to be able to use never know where you're going to need a condom but you can also use that in different use cases don't think the literal right so obviously it can be used to store and move items liquids waters so forth and so on you got a bunch of waterproof bags these probably aren't as good as the world the world pack type bags but they give you some waterproof bags nonetheless they give you a blank piece of paper i'm assuming to do more writing with that pencil but a blank piece of paper they give you some tube you can use this to you can use it i mean if you are just that bold in an emergency situation like if your one of your lungs were to collapse i don't know how to do that and i guess i would give it a shot if i'm about to die and i just really needed to give it a shot and i needed some tube for that or you could use this for multiple use cases like siphoning right if you need to siphon something out of one area to another obviously you can use a tube for that here as well we have more wire this is 18 gauge wire it also has the traditional positive and negative indicators so if you needed to use this to fix something underneath your hood you have that so you got some alloy wire so just more wire more use case wire this is very very it also has the ability to run electrical current through it but you can use that as well and then they give you some very fine 22 like 28 gauge wire if you want to use this in different scenarios and some dice i mean never know when you're going to want to shoot some dice they got you covered you can shoot some craps so i want to dig a little bit deeper into these kits that they give you um just to see like when i tell you the final price of this thing you know is it something that you're gonna say i could build that myself or yeah that's worth it totally give me four right give me five whatever so let's just take a look at these kits so their first kit is their utility kit first off i will say it is hard as heck to get the stuff out of the kit that's kind of a bummer they give you super glue they have a quarter of an inch now i wouldn't even call this a half inch now you can barely see it in the camera hopefully i don't lose it this is to actually stab the super glue and begin to use the super glue pipe cleaner blade as well as a opener can opener in here so this also folded inside this paper is another razor blade and then obviously you have the paper itself one side is it adhesive the other side is like a foil type material double use case out of that they give you a hair tie maybe i could use it my dang on here gets all crazy but you can use that in different i guess using some scenarios i don't know what the hell you would use it for they give you some epoxy uh i'm as i mentioned they give you a paper clip because macgyver always has a paper clip matter of fact if i wouldn't have seen a paper paperclip in this entire kit that i would have known this kit was trash half of a popsicle stick let me know what the heck i'm supposed to use that for and a safety pin now i am gonna read their field guide because some of this stuff i never would have imagined a use case to use some of these items we never use these in the marine corps i haven't used them when i was hunting i haven't used them in any type of emergency situation i'm just trying to think when would i ever need a pipe cleaner i can imagine using super glue i can even imagine using this hot glue that they gave you in the front you know if you needed to something that could stick but not be the most adhesive the most sticky thing ever as you can see i'm struggling getting the stuff back inside there kid so that kind of sucks so i'm not a big fan of the fact that once you pull everything out imagine you're trying to get familiar with this kid this is the first time you've ever opened it you have been inside of it i'm going to pull everything out i'm gonna check all this stuff out i can't even crack it open look at everything and get easily get everything back into there i'm just gonna put this back over here and not even struggle anymore so the kit itself does have different utility kits that's the first one obviously you've seen the utility kit for the fishing kit you've seen the utility kit for the sewing kit so i'm not gonna bust those open because those are kind of self-explanatory what a sewing kit and a fishing kit is but their other no name kit so they just simply call a utility kit let's take a look at that and see what some type of items that are in there that you might be able to use so we're looking at their other utility kit in here there are a ton of screws thumb tacks twist ties for wire you can even use this to you to engage some of those wires if you're going to get real macgyver s they don't give you any batteries or anything but if you need to tap into your battery for something create a spark i can imagine that so imagine i want to tap into the battery of my truck and now tap these two wires together and use this for the ability to start a fire to create a spark i can see myself doing that with that that wire that they gave they give you a lot of nails different size nails different size phillips head screwdrivers they also giving you washers they're giving you thumb tacks so a lot of random stuff i guess if you ever needed to find a way to hold something together or to tack something together so this is kind of the catch-all the only things that seem to immediately jump out at me other than obviously the screwdrivers or excuse me the screws is the actual terminal um latches here i could i could see myself using these if i needed to create a spark you know so they do give a lot of different fire starting capabilities this these items obviously are way more way easier to get back into the utility kit than the first one so if you are trying to explore quote unquote explore your kit get familiar with your kit which if you've watched any of these videos and you did make a purchase on any of these kits and you're not opening them up and getting familiar with the sharpener so they give you your pencil now you can sharpen it the shavings from the pencil sharpener can be used themselves for tinder they also give you a little piece of scotch brite you can use this for sharpening purposes so if you need to sharpen something you got your scotch brite in here which is not a bad thing so two different ways to sharpen something use a scotch brite use a pencil sharpener see what else i missed a few items over here you got the candle and looks like they give you some ear pro as well so if you're going to be in a situation where you need some ear pro you have some ear protection bag itself folds together it does go back together pretty easily i'll put this back into the bag just so we kind of know blank piece of paper never know where you're gonna need that one big thing about all these kits is if you do purchase these kits you decide that you're going to explore the kit how easily does it go back together that's something you definitely want to think about so that's it the acw survival kit is it macgyver-esque oh wait this is 239 dollars plus 14 shipping on amazon it's a little bit cheaper on their website it's about 198 dollars i feel i feel really good about amazon's refund policy so i bought this on the amazon website versus even buying it on their own website to get this is going to get supplemented with a better multi-tool it's also going to have a real knife uh i think this would be better suited with a fixed blade knife because this is kind of a more of a survival type bag and nothing in here was really yielding the ability to whittle or to create more tinder uh so that's kind of seems to be important i really believe that there needs to be more medical items in here so i'm gonna put some aspirin in here and some other personal medical items that need to be kept in this in here some more comfort items need to be put in this bag as well there's absolutely no food sources in here other than that jolly rancher so if i can stick some food items in here this is going to make the cut would i buy this again yes i will buy this again um could you put this together for yourself for about 200 probably it's gonna be a lot of you guys jump in my comments oh i could put something together like that it won't cost me 200 all right well then go for it or you can buy something that's about 90 there and supplement it that's something i personally am okay doing in my use case it's gonna be different for everybody but listen if you like stuff about survival and all that good stuff i'm gonna link some videos here
