this man is living on his paddleboard that's why he has so much stuff in it he seriously even sleeps on that paddleboard at Sea it turns out this guy Brendan is a bit of a local Legend and I have no doubt a future national hero when he happened to paddle past our Anchorage we got to get an insight into what life is like living on a paddleboard to 10K on from Cape Rock and um suddenly a boat came up behind me and I was like how the hell did I not hear a boat come by me what I thought was about was killer whale no it literally just cruised up behind me anyway more about this amazing man and his unbelievable stories later because have another absolute Gem of an Anchorage to share with you all and once again it's totally free as we continue our mission to find and explore the best anchorages around our Coastline to share with you all on godoa.com in this episode we find ourselves in an absolute stunner of a location with beautiful water and lovely beaches and unbelievably it is yet another Anchorage we are once again the only boat at anchor this sport is also loaded with hidden treasures from the underwater world to some super secluded rugged and wild beaches which again look completely empty offering Sailors amazing protection from Southwest that he wins let us share with you how our adventure unfolded in this stunning Great British Anchorage now the morning for me starts at about 6 30 a.m and the first order of the day is to flip the kettle on before heading up on Deck to make sure the solar panels are facing the direction of the Sun or at least will be when the sun eventually comes out okay back to the coffee thanks to my Dicky ticker diagnosis last week I've been relegated to decaf coffee which I'm not gonna lie just isn't the same anyway needs must I get some work done whilst I drink my coffee and to further help my heart I'm going to be using Carly's electric hooker rather than free diving today eventually the morning sun begins to shine and while Carly is very much still asleep I take myself off on my first adventure of the day wish me luck matey deep down hang wants to come with but I couldn't possibly go in the water and just leave him in the dinghy on his own I just I don't know I wouldn't feel right so I was flying a drone earlier the sun was Rising there was some really beautiful colors and as I was looking down I saw these little areas that look like they were littered with rocks and this whole Coastline to be fair uh looks like it has suffered from Rock Falls in fact it has there's some really interesting ground behind me almost looks like a red kind of clay ground which is quite typical of Devon really and there's all this debris scattered down the side of the house and when I looked it up it turns out it's actually a house that a mansion of a house by all accounts that collapsed about 10 years ago and it's quite a sad story actually a couple of retired police officers saw the house at auction and it was like over a million pounds worth of house so it was for sale for a 150 Grand somewhere in that region and they bought it without a survey thinking this was a steal look at that view and then when they got to the house they saw that it really wasn't fit for habitation and then a short while after that the whole thing just collapsed in a landslide into the sea so yeah never good all right we're nearly there using this electric hooker system admittedly doesn't feel quite as Zen as freediving but it feels good to be in the water regardless I managed to find a nice sized Brown crab tucked up at the back of these boulders but it looked like it'd be too tricky to get him out so I moved on with so much vegetation in the water it seemed like it was going to take some serious hunting to uncover those Lobster holes one devilish looking velvet crab and on the other side of this rock pile our first Lobster although this one was on the small side so I left him where I was I continued to search through the thick vegetation in about five meters of water at low tide and it didn't take long to come across my second Lobster this one perched fairly far out of its hole but again too small to take so the search continued over what felt like the top of a sea jungle Pack full of Wildlife and then I came across this incredibly rare sight a lobster out of his hole in broad daylight lobsters are nocturnal hunters and usually spent all day hidden in hard to reach spots and I try and stealthily get my hand behind him for the grab but he sees me come in and bolts in my experience lobsters often make a dash for it in short bursts swimming backwards and then they walk for cover I dropped the ball so many times while chasing this particular guy that was very lucky I didn't lose sight of him altogether that is our first Lobster of the day off to a good start it's back on the hunt and it doesn't take long to find another hiding under a rock using my tickle stick I'm trying to tap the Lobster's tail in order to try and get it to turn around and engage my hook so that I can try to grab its tail but it bolts at warp speed and the chase is once again on when I catch the lobster back up I'm using this stick to try and block the entrance to new holes until I finally have him cornered and given that I've only used about 50 of my hooker's battery I thought I'd keep exploring and see what else I could find sure enough I spot another lobster tail [Music] foreign foreign got three lobsters now in total and so I'm gonna I only need two in fact you can only I'm pretty sure you can only take two so I'm gonna I'm gonna put one of them back I'm gonna put the smallest one back and keep the other two so there you go this one here is the smallest off you go and that Madam looks a much better size so we've got two beautiful sized lobsters now we need to do is find a suitable Place have a cook up after an eventful start to the day I headed back to the boat where Carly and Hank would be fully awake and ready to head to shore leaving the boat alone at anchor never fully stops feeling a little daunting but it's a flat calm day during a neap tide with no other boats in the Anchorage so it's about as good as you could hope for we decided to land the dinghy on babicon beach just below the amazing Pub and local hot spot the carry arms if you haven't been you should and the reason we landed here instead of its much closer Sandy Beach over at ottercom is because there are no dogs allowed on this beach during the summer months besides this meant that we got to enjoy what turned out to be a real scenic route along the coastal path into town we even passed a little waterfall everything looks and feels so identical it really is a remarkable Place plus you can easily keep an eye on the boat whilst you're walking we decided that we actually wanted to head up into town to get something very special for later which meant hiking up another steep staircase although if you don't fancy such a hike yourself and you still want to head into town for supplies then babicam has a cliff train dating back to 1926 which makes very light work of the journey up it feels strange that [Music] wouldn't have even been born yet the day that this train was first opened and yet they lived through World War II it's insane itself is a really pretty town with lots of options for supplies although we were here for something very specific to go with our Lobster after which we excitedly headed back to godoa where we would load the dinghy with supplies before heading off to yet another magical offering that this Anchorage has installed it's a perfect Summer's evening on a weekend during the school holidays too yet despite plenty of people being out to enjoy the coast remarkably this stunning Little Bay was completely empty after dropping the anchor it was time to find some firewood so that we could start the next challenge of the day this was clearly a spot which others come and enjoyed Beach campfires as evidenced by the stockpile of firewood and whilst I got the fire going Carly started preparing the salad for a Lobster Claw cocktail starter I couldn't help but take a moment to try and truly absorb what a privilege it is to find ourselves here in feels like another one of the cruising worlds forgotten destinations this rugged Little Bay known as crab Beach feels virtually Untouched by time I imagine this is the kind of place that our would have found themselves in cooking in much the same way over an open fire surrounded by Nature we had the lobster claws to the two we already had in the fridge and simply placed them on the fire with fresh sea water to cook while Carly finishes The Lobster Claw salad prep I keep an eye on the claws themselves as they don't take long to cook next up is the reason that we went into town a super rare treat of a T-bone steak cooking just a little butter whilst that cooks it's shell those claws look at that oh my goodness look at that for a bit of claw meat [Music] it's weird accents [Music] now it's time to pull the perfect surf and turf together [Music] foreign salad looks amazing as the Sun starts to go down we're reminded again just how lucky we are to have such places on our doorstep Mother Nature at her finest [Music] guys look at that how juicy does that look how good does that look um hang on [Music] you see garlic butter have you ever eaten T-bone steak before he's eyeing up my Lobster but you don't like lobster he definitely looks like he wanted you want some of this oh yeah there you go a little bit too there you go all right they're looking a bit skinny that's all you're missing out I'm gonna jump into this before it gets cold otherwise I'll be sad if it's cold a lot of work's gone into that but this Anchorage what a cracking couple of days we've got the whole place to ourselves we're the only people anchored here which is just mind-blowing but I love it that's part of the reason we love sailing around the UK because you've got these amazing beautiful stunning anchorages that have got Seafood everywhere beautiful walks beautiful views no one's here no one's here we've got the whole place for ourselves anyway I hope you enjoyed coming along for the ride we'll update cadell.com the anchorages page go check it out Link in the description and uh we'll see you next time oh and how can I almost forget about this Legend Brendan living on his paddle board this guy is by far the most interesting part of our entire time in this Anchorage and he swung by to give us a little bit of an insight into what it's like living on a paddle board people that know me will realize I'm always searching Adventure on on a paddleboard because that's how I get all my publicity for order safety it's not necessarily the people that drown it's the families the effects that you see Mickey life-changing life-changing I made it I'm married to myself on the last one that I saw that I need to do as much as I can to something yeah so that became a life mission the seal jump on my board at one in the morning no way I'm properly and kind of gave me a look of you haven't seen me you're not trying to shimmy on I was like you know and truth be told Brendan deserves so much more than a little slot at the end of our video and so we're gonna link to his charity all of his social his mission everything in the description box below you can find that here and if you want to watch the full conversation that we have with Brendan and he has some amazing Stories he's been some brilliant Adventures then make sure
