[Music] it is 3:13 we now have a tornado warning in effect for Pickens County in West Alabama this is the first tornado warning of the day on the western side of the state here's your polygon you can see this does include Carrollton and reformats Alabama highway 17 right here that also includes Aliceville and this cell with a possible tornado is moving north north east up toward the u.s. 82 corridor that's Alabama highway 14 right here that runs from Aliceville back over to Pickens Ville and again we got a circulation back in there let's go to the high-resolution radar this is going to be the velocity display and again this is the area of concern right here that's that rotation and velocity again Aliceville is here highway 14 going back up to Pickens Ville so we have potential now of a tornado that might be down in Pickens County in West Alabama this is about 40 to 45 miles due west of Tuscaloosa let's go back to the main graphics system and again we've got a lot of things we'll be looking at here but first off want to point out who's in and who's out in Pickens County those in the polygon include obviously Aliceville the rotation very close to Aliceville maybe near PSAPs the community that was hit by a tornado a couple of years ago it includes Carrollton this is the county seat of Pickens County right here it does include the city of reform and if we can expand this up north where Charles that want to point out this does not include the city of Gordo Gordo is right here on us 82 and that's the polygon here so the polygon does not include Gordo it does include reform you know the deal respect the polygons if you were in that area we're talking about here this polygon you need to go to a safe place a small room on the lowest floor near the center away from windows no cars no mobile homes and again as we've talked about today these are not the classic tornadoes like we have in the spring time in the late fall these are tropical showers in fact there's not much lightning with these and these tend to be short-lived but sometimes they can produce a lot of damage we've had that happen before if you recall back in Inslee and Fairfield back in June that was a tropical tornado that came through the western part of Birmingham so again we are now on a tornado warning in effect for Pickens County in West Alabama and that will be in effect Charles until let me pull this up here okay four o'clock this afternoon that's in about 45 minutes more than likely this will be cancelled or reconfigured before 4 o'clock we have a Skycam over in reform and that's going to be in the path of this we have learned over the years through social science studies that you tend to perform a little better in terms of taking action if you could actually see a tornado of course the problem is we can't always have a camera on every tornado but again this camera at reform Elementary School is going to be fairly close to the action with this particular cell so we're gonna watch this very carefully and again this is going to be a day where a lot of this is subscribe uh taz the thunderstorms become more cellular in nature we do have a chance of seeing some of the maybe the back side of these things so again that's a Skycam at reform we'll watch that carefully let's go back to the radar and if you're just joining us we apologize for the interruption of program but longtime viewers know that if we have a tornado warning in any part of our viewing area we go on the air and we stay on the air and we'll do that in till at least four o'clock this afternoon in addition to this of course there's a tornado watch for basically the western half of the state that's been in effect for several hours it's been quiet so far most all of the tornado warnings so far have been out of The Weather Service offices in Memphis and Jackson Mississippi Memphis Tennessee Jackson Mississippi but this is the first one for our state there's your tornado watch Morgan Coleman Blount Jefferson Shelby Chilton Bibb Perry and then counties back off to the west and that's the tornado warning polygons Tuscaloosa here Birmingham here we have no severe weather affecting Tuscaloosa or Birmingham this is exclusively now in Pickens County let's go to a larger radar view just kind of give you a big picture and of course if you're in East Alabama you are not under any type of watch or advisories so east of i65 things are quiet here the Birmingham Metro again nothing going on right now we have a lot of schools that are dismissing at this hour some schools did let out earlier today but obviously the concern it's for Pickens County again Tuscaloosa no problems now in Tuscaloosa County and that rotating storm in Pickens County will not be affecting Tuscaloosa County that will affect either Lamar or Fayette counties if it maintains its identity I headed up toward either Kennedy or Fayette Belk some of those communities up in that zone through there and again you can see all of these spiral bands are wrapping back into the circulation of what we all knew is tropical storm Harvey currently it's just the remnant circulation but that circulation is over the Mississippi Delta south of Memphis flash flooding and progress in Memphis we have a flash flood warning in effect for Shelby County Tennessee and over here in this quadrant this is where we have the possibility of these small spin up tornadoes and again I say small spin up most of them are not necessarily all of them but they certainly can be dangerous in this one spiral band whipped into West Alabama about 15-20 minutes ago and after a lull this has certainly been a line that has been increasing the parameters certainly favor of severe storms today we have dew points up in the mid 70s temperatures are in the 80s the wind out of the southeast at the surface veering around to the west up in the high altitudes sending these updrafts and emotions so let's go back into that one storm will put on a single site radar and take a look at this and maybe some storm attributes on this this is a tornado warning for Pickens County and the western side of the state we have the possibility of a tornado now that would be right in this region right here near PSAPs or Aliceville moving in a north-northeast direction and again these are some of the communities in the path of this storm you can see the approximate arrival times here and again we stress when we show these things this doesn't mean it's going to arrive to the exact minute it's just an approximate arrival time you can see it might make it up to Kennedy in Lamar County about 4 o'clock Camille Porte more than likely this is going to be similar between mill port and Kennedy we're showing reform here at about 342 this afternoon moving pretty quickly moving northeast about 40 45 miles an hour the tornado impact numbers of 4.1 the higher that number it goes up toward 10 again that means that the tornado threat is higher but certainly for is very significant so again we're gonna double box you'll see our Skycam at reform that is in the path of this thunderstorm of the possible tornado and the radar at the same time so that's the current situation this developed pretty quickly Charles you know we were sitting here thinking maybe maybe we'll get away with nothing we sat here for three hours and then BOOM having all of a sudden yeah you know a little sunshine broke through for a little while out there and that might be just enough to kick it off I mean the dew point there in reform is 74 temperatures down a bit this is the rain starting to set in but it really picked up quickly and I think you know this is just that next band to come in here that we'll be watching for and it's gonna be one of those days where what you call it whack-a-mole and that's what it's exactly like you got one bench a lot of people haven't played whack-a-mole it's a very frustrating game it is but then you know this is this is probably one of the better signatures I think we've seen on the radar you get that classic that hook coming around there that that c-shape coming in towards saps at the moment headed up towards Carrollton and usually you know these will be quick up and down and gone and this one really took a little while to get together we're looking at on different products and it looks like maybe this one's gonna hold together for a minute you know they've had the broken line of rain coming through and these storms are moving fairly quickly through a pretty ripe airmass I think through the rest of the afternoon till the Sun Goes Down that's generally our kind of our make-or-break at time through about seven o'clock this evening once the Sun Goes Down it should begin to a quiet time pretty quickly and we're watching Charles the velocity display as well and we have the new dual polarization products and the we're not seeing any debris that's being lofted so far with this storm but again these are low tops these are not like these big storms and spring in the spring you can have storms that are 5060 thousand feet these things are way under 30,000 feet and accordingly the radar beam is shooting pretty high and sometimes we just can't see what goes on down in the lower levels but at this point we're not seeing debris being lofted but again clearly there is storm rotation going on in here in fact let's go back to the high-resolution radar that's gonna have the velocity on it again you can see right here that's your velocity couplet and this is the radar coming from Columbus Air Force Base we got a pretty decent view from there looking back into this and again we'll check the Birmingham output that let's do that right now while we're looking at this we're going change the radar from the Columbus Mississippi NEXRAD back over to the Birmingham NEXRAD should be giving give us a different look at this thing it's a long way out it's right 7,000 feet up I think yeah that's way over 5000 feet and again the the resolution is clearly going to be better coming from the Columbus radar but one way or the other this storm is clearly rotating it's spinning like a top and the Weather Service believes that there is a chance that we might have the the circulation down on the ground here so again we'll be watching that Skycam that is it reform Elementary School in Pickens County and watching the various radar displays in my box let's put the main graphics box back on here we'll put max one it is 323 this is ABC 33 40 and again you can see the classic hook shape in through here with that inflow notch right here and that's the possibility of your tornado right here the tornado threat is over in Aliceville I can tell you that right now and these are really accelerating in the forward motion here is 40 to 45 miles an hour so if you live in Alice Ville the danger is over from this particular storm again that's coming up on Carrollton so the next sizable community in the path of this thing is Carrollton that's the county seat a Pickens County they're pretty well known for the face in the courthouse window that never goes away but people know that and clearly if you're in Carrollton you should be sheltered right now and again we stress no cars a car and a tornado is basically a deathtrap you want to be in out of cars out of mobile homes as part of your tornado plan if you live in a mobile home you have to have a place to go and a way to get there quickly and again in many cases like this we can't give you the big lead times like we can in spring I in some cases with the strong violent tornadoes of spring and late fall you might get 40 minutes notice for these things if you get five minutes you're luck to you you know Charles these are a very problematic to deal with but I think the Weather Service was right out of all the circulations and again almost all these showers have been rotating today and you just can't issue a tornado warning for all of them because most of them don't have tornadoes but I think they sure made the right call on this one and then we had day a pretty tight circulation it might be a smidgen broader right now but again clearly this is a dangerous storm that requires action so if you live anywhere on that highway 17 stretch now from Carrollton to reform you want to be in a safe place that is in a site built structure that is a small room on the lowest floor near the center and away from windows this will be passing very quickly north of us 82 within about 15 minutes then moving up into either the southern part of Lamar or the southwestern part of Fayette counties and again Mill Port Kennedy and Belk those are three communities that would be in the path of this if it maintains its current strength so again we are here because of this we'll stay with this as long as we have a tornado warning and again it's scheduled to continue until 4:00 o'clock this afternoon and we'll just have to wait and see we have not had any ground truth reports and again we're watching all of the social media channels and then one of the great things about today's communication techniques is that we can get photographs basically from anywhere and we've got a lot of people that watch us in Pickens County and again we have not had any reports so far so that is the storm in Pickens County Charles one look at the storm coming in to Bibb County The Weather Service is watching a rotation with this one this is fairly broad there is no tornado warning in effect here but it's this cell right here The Weather Service is watching this you've got Centreville and brent right here this is Brent this is Centerville of course the river kind of splits the two cities and that storm is rotating but it's fairly broad and the Weather Service believes at this point that most likely there is not a tornado down with this but again just a heads up if you are in big County be aware that that there's broad rotation here no tornado warning no need to take any action at this point but remember like we've talked about with these tropical tornadoes they can come down just like that and it's a situation where you might be in a case where you see it before anybody else so just be very weather aware with this and if you see something go to a safe place but again for now there's no warning here for the storm in Bibb County so let's go back to Pickens County and again we'll kind of focus on the one storm that has required a tornado warning today the Pickens County storm is over on the western side of the state and again before you know it that signature is going to be coming up toward reform so if you are anywhere from Carrollton to reform along Alabama Highway 17 that's where you want to be in a safe place the storm structure is good and we've noticed the storm structures today have been pretty impressive we've seen a lot of very impressive shelf clouds with the leading edge of the storms we've watched a lot of those storms in Mississippi that have prompted these tornado warnings a lot of lowerings we've seen some of those in parts of West Alabama earlier today the structure is quite well-defined and again there could be a small tornado down right now and it would be very close to Carrollton in about 3 or 4 minutes we can give Carrollton an all-clear that's how fast these things are moving you're moving at 40 to 45 no traffic lights they don't have to worry about anything they're just moving right along here so before you know it that's gonna be up on reform I don't know if Pickens County dismissed early today or what the status of the schools would be obviously we don't want school buses out in a situation like this or anybody in any type of vehicle car truck bus whatever you need to park it and just go to a safe place and obviously the largest most traveled Highway within this tornado warning polygon is us 82 that is the main connector between Tuscaloosa and Columbus Mississippi and if you happen to be trying to go to Columbus and you're listening to us by radio maybe coming out of North Port in Tuscaloosa you want to stop at Gordo just stop and relax for a few minutes until this thing passes north of us 82 and if you're coming from the other way from Columbus I would stop around the state line or Ethel's Ville and then just just wait this thing out because nobody should be on us 82 right now between the western part of Gordo and Ethel's Ville as this comes on a cross Charles I've heard of no damage so far I'm not seeing anything yeah that's that's the I think key here I did want to point out if you want to take the Skycam full let me show you that there are a lot of a lot of at least teachers or faculty still at the school a lot of the folks there at the reform school that's the elementary school right and and I think a lot of folks are still there you can see they're kind of pulling out and getting to move on we've got this spacing generally to the south so we may see this coming in from the south or just to the southwest here in the next few minutes so we'll keep that one there but no damage reports that I've seen come in I'm actually just now checking our I'm trying to see this is actually just our weather reports but I don't know I don't think that's related to this but storms so I'm not going to report on that one there but some are weather storm spotters haven't shown us anything we've got some decent scans coming through I don't see anything on the correlation coefficient that would indicate debris lofted above so that's good news there I tell you what truss I've got some video just in from Aliceville so we can take wex oh five again this is video from Pickens County and this was captured within the past few minutes and again they are saying that they have not seen any type of damage that seems to be the leading edge of the storm that looks like a shelf cloud but again from this vantage point in Aliceville so far no reports of any damage and obviously a lot of people this is not by the way what we advise you to do is to go outside and do this but again I think what's happened here the storm has passed north of there once it's north of you it's okay that's why we put the spotters back there in that southwestern flank of the storm but again this is what it looked like in Aliceville about five to ten minutes ago and I do believe that more than likely is the back part of the storm to deport the departing apart on the rear flank and again you're gonna see a lot of lowerings that the LCL heights that the cloud bases are very low today but again nothing apparently in that particular video Charles so uh so far so good yeah that's that's good news and just looking at on that high res from the Columbus you know the the Delta on that approaching 100 I mean you've got some 100 mile gate to gate on some of these so again very tight rotation still and some of the some of the data coming in just north of Carrollton now one thing here on the on the main graphic system that tornado impact number actually gone down a little bit which is encouraging but these storms are moving fairly quickly about 40 45 miles an hour so if you're in the path of this if you're in Carrollton you've got the all clear at this point and you can let maybe let us know what's going on if you're Carrollton or maybe south of town if you're still just north of town on Alabama 17 there just hang out for a little while longer if you're in Stancil you need to be in that safe place now reform go ahead and start working your way to that safe place immediately again fast-moving storm coal fire as well go ahead and get to the safe places and be there we'll let you know when it's all clear at this point but again still some pretty good rotation there I wouldn't I wouldn't say it's the classic hook signature but you can tell for sure just by looking at the reflectivity that there's a good rotation that moisture is trying to wrap around the tail into that storm as it's moving northwards so again Carrollton if you're in Carrollton downtown or south of town I give you the all-clear there if you're north of Carrollton north of downtown maybe a few more minutes Stancil and reform coalfire beards mill you need to be in that safe place right away all right let's go back to the high-resolution radar we're gonna bounce back between the two what you're seeing now is the standard reflectivity this is these velocity radial velocity and again there's no doubt we've got strong rotation here this is coming off Birmingham now getting a good look at this Carrollton is here so the tornado potential as Charles said has really passed on through Carrollton and it is moving rapidly to the north-northeast and it looks like this might be crossing us 82 somewhere near or just maybe west of reform so obviously the the big message here if you're in reform a reform you want to be in a state that I say reform you did I wasn't I had no sleep I mean not how many times have been teaching people never say that if you are in reform you need to be in a safe place and again we stressed that as a small room on the lowest floor near the center away from windows and we're going to leave both these boxes up we're now within range we can start to see this on our Skycam at reform elementary school and it we've learned that you tend to do something if you see a tornado we hope that you understand by our language and what we're showing you on radar that you do because we just can't show every tornado keep in mind many tornadoes are wrapped in rain here you can't see them many tornadoes happen at night many tornadoes are blocked by hills and trees this is not Kansas this is not Oklahoma this is Alabama and it's hard to see here but yet what's the reason we have all these cameras on this network it's for the possibility of this happening so again Charles has got the reform elementary school sky cam aimed right at that storm and we're gonna watch this thing very carefully but yeah it's starting to auto-rotate so I don't know what that means there but the screaming message here if you're in reform anywhere near reform you should be in a safe place now if you are in a mobile home you should be out you should be in a shelter if you're in a car you should be out of the car you should be in a site built structure until this thing passes we advise no driving along u.s. highway 82 between Gordo and Ethel's Ville basically we can just broaden that out and say no traveling on us 82 in Pickens County to make it easier if you're trying to go from Columbus to Tuscaloosa or Tuscaloosa back over to Columbus this is a very fast-moving storm this is moving to the north northeast at 45 miles an hour therefore it's going to be north of us 82 very soon here but again that's a situation with the velocity so in this box let's put back on max1 and this will show the reflectivity and again you can see the indicator the skit back here back in the south western flank there's the info knotch inflow notch in the hook echo and that'll be crossing us 82 which is right here coal fire McShann reform everybody in these communities in Pickens County need to be in a safe place if you live in the middle of Carrollton the risk is over for you again for Carrollton the tornado threat is over the tornado is now north if it's down of Carrollton and that was going to be coming up next on reform and again we've seen a lot of images and video coming out of Pickens County we've shown some of those on the air but so far we've not seen any evidence through all these images we've seen of anything down creepy clouds absolutely this is a CLC kind of day creepy looking clouds but we're looking for wall clouds and funnels and tornadoes on the rear flank of these storms listen look at the Skycam really quick James can you see like if you look in the Ford let's take the sky case away you look in the back and look in the distance it's actually going the opposite direction you can almost pick out some of that rotation there yeah look at those clouds further off in the distance there right this it's a situation where the wind direction changes rapidly in the lower one kilometer of the atmosphere today and that's one of the things that tends to set these updrafts into motion but again and that was a lightning strike typically these tropical storms don't have a lot of lightning with them but this one certainly has that but based on the velocity signature which is very - there's very very strong evidence of storm rotation right now and this gonna come right through this skycam side or just west of there sure also again everybody in reform you need to be sheltered right now this is a very dangerous storm that is capable of producing a tornado this is a storm not to be taken lightly I know we've been saying these are not like the storms of spring and fall any tornado is dangerous period an ef-0 tornado is dangerous an EF one is dangerous they are all dangerous so we want you to be in a safe place until this passes it's not risk not worth risking life if you have to be somewhere just stop we don't want you to be in a car we don't want you to be in a mobile home you need to be sheltered and again we stress it as a small room and the lowest floor near the center and away from windows and again let's go back to a double box we will kind of keep these both in here in Charles I don't know if we can take the little markers off for just a second that'll give us a better view back here at the south western flank of this thing look at the hook look that is just a clue you've got a classic situation here and I'll kind of let you work that Skycam because we're gonna look for this on the camera as we move the camera kind of different angles of this storm but that is a very strong indication of a tornado on radar so we're watching the radar and the right box we've got the Skycam at reform Elementary School over there in the left box and again even if you don't see a tornado on that Skycam that doesn't mean that there's not one there has a good chance there is one there based on the velocity we're seeing the the numbers are extremely high so again this is a very dangerous storm that is coming up on u.s. highway 82 downtown reform is right here now in the middle of reform is just south of us 82 that's the core of downtown us 82 highway 17 cross right here and again that is basically coming right up on us 82 right now and again we're kind of watching the camera together and we're gonna see if we can see anything on that on the camera watching the radar at the same time but the urgent message is there everybody should be in a safe place right now and again we started to know us a little bit of the lowering of the correlation coefficient product as well on the high-rez radar which means there could be some debris being lofted so clearly this is a very strong strong indication of a tornado let's look at the velocity real quick on the high-resolution back in my box and again wow that is a scream screaming indicator of a tornado here and again the beam is not of course on the ground the beam goes in a straight line the earth curves this is you know several thousand feet off the ground here but still at the radar beam height level we've got violent rotation and there's a pretty good chance that is extending down to the ground so again now but Delta James camera Charles Ellis this trying to do a pan if we can it's it's real touchy which I know you want to head to the left here yeah we're gonna do a look around here and again as there might be some bandwidth constraints on that on that camera but again that's a very important link that we have as people watching the camera we learned that they will do something about it and again that rotation gets tighter and tighter the velocity couplet okay and we got a note from a news Pickens County Schools they're holding their students they did not dismiss early today some school systems did many of them did not so there are no buses on the road Pickens County is holding their students in which is the perfect call obviously the last thing you want is a school bus on the road and a tornado warning polygon this camera is at reform Elementary School in in Pickens County and again we are watching with great interest this entire thing Charles and you know we've lost control of it now so okay I'll tell you what it's it's headed right for the camera though right again this the the the tornado more than likely if it's down is basically in reform right now we're just going to let that camera keep on panning around will give us a 360 view of this so this is a very dangerous storm that is currently in Pickens County we have the possibility of a tornado at reform we are watching multiple sources for reports volunteer fire fighters have reported rotation and Stansell which is just south of reform in this they've not reported a specific tornado but we do have an extension of this tornado warning now that is up into parts of Lamar and Pickens counties fact let's go back to the graphic system and show the new extension here this tornado warning polygon and again we stress we stress that if you're in reform you've got to be in a safe place so this is the extension of the tornado warning that keeps on going up here into far southeastern lamar in southwestern Fayette counties and let's pull that a little bit more let me see if this includes the city of Fayette Charles this alright so that yes it does the city of fayetteville wanting polygons a tornado at reform moving north northeast that's going to be crossing about where Fayette Pickens Lamar counties all come together look at the camera James yeah let's take the Skycam fully get full screen that that's that lowered yeah I mean that's got to be it right there let's let's do it right now let's take that full screen we're gonna see if we can look at that rotation in there I don't see anything going to the ground yet the storm is spinning like I tell what if that's it it's right there yeah if that's it that's it this is a resubmission trees gonna be right there that's right there but you can clearly see that very very strongly try to follow it and again here comes the wind's coming around on top of the school wow this is a tornado warning again for Pickens County we stress that everybody in in from refo north yeah there's some debris there I could be a tornado down right there we've got trees and again you can see the the inflow coming into that you you're more than likely look wow what could well it's moving the camera on its own right that's not a charles doing that it's not me I'm removing on its own very very fierce winds at reform elementary school we'll have a little better look at that little break in the clouds in the trees right there this could be a tornado that is down again the winds are extreme it looks like the one minute average is kicking up to 26 I don't know what the gust is we'll get a gust reading here in just a second we can also determine that we have weather instruments at all the Skycam sites but again right there you can see that man what could be we're out of control okay once you get control we'll go back to the other way in fact there's the anemometer at the at the site there and we might have just lost my mouse power often what happened in a situation like this with the tornado passing very close to a facility like that you lose power and more than likely the power just went out so again we have very strong indication of a tornado that is currently at reform again that is reform elementary school we watch the tornado what seemed to be a tornado passed within maybe a mile of the school if not closer to that now we've got another tornado warning we've got four hail in Perry counties so what we want to do is we've been stressing this but let's go back to our new tornado warning this is for hail and Perry counties until 4:30 this afternoon this is a rotating storm that is located south of Greensboro in the far southern end of hail County I inhale County coming out of Greensboro you've got multiple highways you've got an Alabama highway 69 which is right here highway 25 goes down to the south down here toward fawns Dale you've got the community of New Bern which is right here the main risk is going to be for areas south and east of Greensboro so again anybody in the community of New Bern right here down Highway 61 that's highway 69 2561 those three that come out of Greensboro so everybody in South Hale counties same thing you need to be in a safe place a small room lowest floor near the center away from windows we got the power back at reform Elementary School I see Charles this is Demopoulos I was just gang swinging that one around yeah we've lost the reform right now right and again we're getting multiple reports of what could be a tornado down in reform and obviously we saw that coming from the Skycam there and again we have lost power at reform Elementary School but again this is a situation where that is coming up into Fayette and Lamar counties but again here's the deal highway 61 New Bern is right here highway 25 possible tornado in this cell that's going to be crossing up into the far northwestern corner of Perry County north and west of the city of Marion so that is the storm in West Alabama let's go back to our storm which is the one in Pickens County but is now north of reforms we got reform back okay all right we've got the reform Skycam back and again now we're looking back into the base of this thing but again you can see that that might even be a debris ball right there again this has just crossed over highway 80 to reform elementary school is just south of highway 82 where the cameras located here again we're looking Northwest back up into this thing and that's going to keep on traveling basically pretty much up Highway 17 for a while so everybody north of reform in Pickens County you've got to be in a safe place and again you know the deal is a small room lowest floor near the center away from windows no cars no mobile homes and is it ultimately exits Pickens County it's going to be clipping the far southeastern part of Lamar County near Kennedy so in this tornado warning polygon which includes parts of Fayette and Lamar counties we have Kennedy Belk and the city of Fayette within this so again if you are in any of these places we've called out we want you to be in a safe place until the storms pass I think there's a fair chance this will be passing maybe a little to the east of mill port Kennedy and Belt but it's a close call down highway 96 but obviously the next city in line for this thing is going to be the city of Fayette and as we get reports coming in from the newsroom we'll certainly pass that along but we're starting also to see evidence of now a TDS let's go back to the high-resolution radar you're looking at the velocity which is just a very very very impressive velocity couplet this is evidence of a tornado we're gonna go to a product called correlation coefficient Wow goodness gracious that is a TDS this is a tornado debris signature this is a lowered area of CC what what the radars telling us it's telling us that there's something different about this echo it's not precipitation and when you see a lowered CC like this correlation coefficient within a tornadic store and that is debris that is being lofted these are parts of trees buildings houses boards bricks glass nails so again we now have a TDS a tornado debris signature in that storm for Pickens County I don't got it from the Columbus site and it's a little bit it's even more impressive Wow okay well it's that's impressive as it is so again this is it and again we're watching our camera from reform we're watching the back edge of this thing and again that is a very dangerous storm multiple people are watching this apparently obviously in Pickens County the object of the game is not to watch this by the way if you're law enforcement that's what they do they they know how to stay safe in a situation like this but just for the average person you should be in a safe place right now watching this preferably on a phone the nice thing about technology today you can do that back in the old days people would drag their televisions in their safe place now with a phone and Facebook live and everything else you can watch this in many many different ways and of course we're obviously on all those platforms the apps Facebook live all that so you stay in a safe place and again highway 17 north of reform you've got to be in a safe place right now let's go back to the main graphic sweater back to max one here and again the city of Phaeton say it that's a tornado it's down in highway 17 north of reform that's going to be cutting pretty close to the Triplett point this is where Pickens Lamar and Fayette counties all come together a little south of Kennedy a little south of Belk and then coming right up the chute up into downtown Fayette so and again it is a situation where I don't know who closed early today but if the school system in these areas in this polygon if they're letting out the kids and they're pretty good our folks are really good about this but obviously the screaming message no kid should be on a bus nobody should be on a bus nobody should be in a car and nobody should be in a truck in a situation like this Kevin laws is to sue at the National Weather Service the science operations officer he's thinking this might be a rather large tornado and we talked about a lot of times in tropical systems these are short lived and small but sometimes sometimes you can have an exception and it looks like this might be an exception and again based on the lowered correlation coefficient this could be a very significant tornado here so again the daunt tornado damage threat is considerable based on the latest warning here the warning goes into 434 parts of Fayette the south eastern corner of Lamar let me just stress if you live in Sullivan or Vernon this is nowhere near you you're not the polygon if you're in Kennedy you are Belk Fayette you're in this polygon and you can see it doesn't include any part of Tuscaloosa County Charles got that tornado warning polygon highlighted here Newton Ville is in Fayette County right across the Tuscaloosa County line but this will not affect Tuscaloosa County at all the next really larger city than the direct path of this thing it's going to be the city of Fayette and you've got some time now the best possible scenario here is the thing that dissipates and it might because a lot of these tropical tornadoes tend to be short-lived but in this case it's been hanging in there like a rusty fishhook and we've seen no evidence of this thing diminishing in fact the lowered CC is still extremely violent looking on radar here let's go back to the high-resolution radar and again you'll see this spot right here that's where debris is being lofted north of reform and that is debris being taken up by the tornado so that is the correlation coefficient we'll go back to the velocity display and again we've got a very well-defined couplet which is right in through here that is moving right up in the direction of the city of Fayette Kennedy is here Belk is here it's moving about like that so this might be just a little to the east of Kennedy and Belk along Highway 96 but goodness gracious you're too close to that if you're in Kennedy or Belk you need to be in a safe place right now well go back to our main graphic system max1 we'll put that back here and again let me just say this we can give an all clear for us 82 one of the things we try and do is tell folks who's in danger and folks that are not 82 is fine if you need to travel on us 82 now between Columbus and Tuscaloosa through Pickens County you are good the circulation is well north of us 82 we do not want anybody on Alabama highway 17 between reform and mill port up here okay we're good we're getting some information in our ear about the students there the kids in Pickens County being held at the high school Pickens County High School in Charles they're the home of the tornado tornado about them so they're being held and that's the great decision and once this gets out of the county they will be released and they will be home and all students are safe so again all students are safe and just fine in Pickens can the great example of the school system doing the right thing and again Lamar County is here Fayette County is here that's Alabama highway 159 that's a road that runs from Gordo to Fayette and what's going to happen this possible tornado is going to be crossing off that highway 17 corridor then jumping back over toward highway 159 and then coming up here toward the city of Fayette this is Alabama highway 96 you got Belk and you got Miller Kennedy right down and through here a pretty good chance that this is going to be passing maybe just to the east of Kennedy and Belt but again everybody along highway 96 Alabama 96 Alabama highway 17 Alabama Highway 159 if we're calling out these roads you need to be in a safe place right now this thing is right over Palmetto in northern Pickens County this is north of the city of Reform by about six or seven miles of highway 17 Alabama Highway 17 is the main north-south corridor in that far western part of the state and the structure still looks very good in flow knotch hook echo possible tornado right here Lamar County Pickens County Alabama highway 96 Kennedy Belk city of Fayette Co and again that's moving up right in this direction so it will be crossing off of highway 17 soon we'll give you an all-clear for highway 17 shortly next is going to be crossing over Highway 159 and again 159 is the road from Fayette down to Gordo and that's going to be getting on that road and then coming right up toward the city of Fayette this is passing just north and west the city of Tuscaloosa a storm fort for the National Weather Service in Birmingham and by the way let me just say this the weather service in Birmingham they have canceled the tornado warning for hail and Perry that storm is weakened it is no longer tornadic so we have the tornado warning for hail and Perry counties has been canceled we're down to one tornado warning in the state and it's the one you're looking at right here and again we're it's fascinating to watch this thing it's just been amazingly impressive for a tropical type system let me go back to the high-rez radar back here let me show you what this thing looks like with the velocity the Reds and the greens again you can just see how that couplet is just stayed intact coming right through reform moving really more to the north maybe a little eastward component of motion here but that's pretty remarkable and again you've got these green that are inbound the red that are outbound so that's a look at the velocity display let's look at the standard reflectivity this is what most people are used to seeing and again we'll do an animation on this and again you can see how that's not as impressive as what we're seeing right here truck what radars is Charles Columbus for Birmingham this is the Columbus NEXRAD okay yeah I think the Columbus has a better look at it and again that is a slower beam at that point I'll be honest with you I mean that looks like a debris ball yeah that's what I was thinking which which is right here that would be where the debris is being lofted that's the radar beam reflecting off things in this in the tornado like boards and bricks and glass nails parts of buildings tree bark and the tornado debris is being lofted based on the correlation coefficient product to about 10,000 feet which is pretty pretty remarkable here for a tropical type tornado like this and I do believe that Columbus is gonna have the better look at this thing and yeah it's that is a nasty looking storm let's go back to the high-res display this is the hook echo and the debris ball debris ball would be right there and that's about to cross over into Alomar County that is the reflectivity will go to the velocity and again those are extremely high wind velocities coming off Columbus air force base and finally the one that's of interest to us is the correlation coefficient product and again we got it right in through here it's not quite as well-defined as maybe it was ten minutes ago but that's your Lord area of CC that could be debris that is being lofted by this thing and the weather service in Birmingham is greatly concerned as we are that we still have a tornado down at this point so if you're just joining us the reason we are here we have a tornado warning in effect for extreme Northern Pickens County in West Alabama and a tornado warning in effect for the southeastern corner of Lamar and much of Fayette County let's go back to max one this is our main graphic system and again city of Fayed is right here tornado debris ball is right there this thing is moving north northeast and again you can see if it stays and that's a big if but this thing has been very persistent for a tropical system it might just wind up perhaps going close to the city of Fayetteville so again we have we've watched it passed through reform Elementary School live on the Skycam and that was pretty pretty remarkable and one thing Charles you might check to see a little Brian Peters live stream up from the storm chaser and we'll get that up in just a second Brian has been in the field all day and we'll see if we can establish a stream with Brian and talk with him Brian and Megan Thomas they've been out for hours and of course for the first three hours there wasn't much to report but now things are happening and this is all during the peak of the daytime heating process we're getting unfortunately the combination of the best daytime heating the best instability and the highest atmospheric shear in the lowest levels all coming together at the same time but this tornado is basically now where Pickens Lamar Fayette counties all come together this is about 40 miles airline miles northwest of the city of Tuscaloosa the possible debris ball is right here and again that's about to cross over into the far south western part of Fayette County the greatest danger here is going to be south of Alabama highway 96 but again clearly anybody that lives in Kennedy Belk you want to be in a safe place especially the stretch here between highway 96 and highway 159 both of these roads come out of the city of Fayetteville AR highway 159 goes down to gordo here in Pickens County but that thing is basically where these three counties come together The Weather Service reported that a tornado was reported near the Dollar General Store in reform I've been in that store and that was relayed via 911 call center and again they're reporting at EDS but other than that I've heard of no damage or injuries from this thing so far but obviously Charles it is a situation that still is kind of ongoing here and it's in a fairly rural part of the state what happens a lot of times if the cell service goes down it makes it pretty challenging to get reliable information here but the bottom line is if you live at around Beaver Creek Road the kind of stretches between 159 and 96 you've got to be sheltered right now in a site built home that is a small room and the lowest floor near the center away from windows that's a situation there and again this this includes the city of Fayette I'm hoping I can stand here in ten minutes and tell you that this thing is dissipated and the warnings canceled but we can't do that right now there's still very strong evidence that that debris ball is sitting right there I mean you can see it on the Lamarr Fayette County line in about one more minute we can give an all-clear to Pickens County again we've cleared the u.s. 82 corridor reform you're all clear Carrollton obviously in about one minute we can give it all clear to all of Pickens County the concern is now the southeastern corner Lamar County in the southwestern part of Fayette County highway 96 milk Kennedy Belt Fayette in highway 159 right here comes up from Gordo and that thing is going to be soon close to highway 159 so obviously in terms of travel nobody should be traveling along Alabama highway 96 between Fayette and Kennedy nobody should be traveling on loyola along Alabama Highway 159 from Fayette down to I Gordo but the good thing Charles I've not seen any reports of damage so far which is really good yeah that's the only thing is that one you said that 9-1-1 report but yes so far looks great which is fantastic news I don't think we'll stay that way though unfortunately we saw that wind as it crossed over the elementary school just kind of blow over and I think it missed the school but very very close to it and I think what we'll monitor again this is there's a fairly rural area out here a lot of trees so that's good news it's not very densely populated but as we get a new radar update there I might have a shot let's take wet so 5:00 this is from southern Fayette County and again that might be it this was taken just a moment ago here so and again we've got Brian Peters and the live stream and you know what we're gonna do here is open up the ABC 33 40 News focus at 4:00 we're not going away we're staying with this coverage but we are going to technically open up a newscast at the top of the hour at 4 o'clock so it is now coming up on four o'clock focus at four starts now ABC 3340 News starts now with a severe weather alert James span and Charles Daniel again we are back in the Weather Center we are watching a severe storm that is capable and more than likely is producing a tornado right now and again this could very well be it this was taken from southern Fayette County by one of our followers on Twitter and again that is one of the greatest things we have today it's the social media ability to communicate both ways and we have reason to believe this might be it right here so again the storm itself is here obviously but that would be the debris ball that's that same spot you saw on that image and that's possible tornado was going to be coming right up toward the city of Fayette we've got Brian Peters who is live he's in our storm chaser will be jealous to stay with me for a minute we got Charles doing some stuff on the on the live stream over the air he doesn't want to come off it's it's okay that's that's fine it's telling us we have messages that's fine so again we are in a situation where we were encouraging everybody in Fayette County and extreme southeastern Lamar County to be in a safe place let's go back let me show you that image that came in from southern Fayette County and again you can see that most likely this is what could be the tornado and again this is coming from southern Fayette County in fact let me show you another image that just came in this is a refreshed image and again this is a pretty good vantage point this is a situation where we've got a decent view into this and again a lot of hills and trees around here but this more than likely is a tornado that is currently over the southern part of Fayette County this is southwestern Fayette County it's four o'clock if you're just joining us here and again we're this is focus at four was staying with weather coverage but this is a possible tornado that crossed over through Pickens County you watched it live on our Skycam from reform Elementary School and again that is coming right up toward the city of Fayette so let's go back to max one and again we're gonna look for some more images coming in from social media but Charles what what's interesting I've not heard of any damage reports from this thing came through reform which is pretty amazing because it looked like it was down yeah and I'm kind of scrolling back through our arch at our weather service chat and through our storm spotter chat and nobody seems to have have relayed any of that to us so that's encouraging news that's good news that we haven't seen that yet but again early and if if I know we lost power for a few minutes at the school so cell signals are down that's going to make it a bit differently show you another picture this this is from Palmetto to the emergency management so they did put in calls and news from will making calls they ought to see if there's any damage there in Pickens County okay this is this is taken from Palmetto this is north of reform this is between reform and the Lamar Fayette County line and it looks a whole lot like the pictures we saw coming in from Fayette so again that is a strong evidence that we have a tornado that is perhaps still down and again that's what it looked like north of reform and the Palmetto community so let's go back to max one behind me and again thanks to everybody for taking the time to send these in this is a marvelous way for us to get ground truth on these and again I want to stress to that on the other storm we've been watching the warning for hail and Perry that's been canceled we have one tornado warning in the entire state and you're looking at it right now so we have a thunderstorm that is most likely producing a tornado right here this passing a little east of Kennedy it's going to pass a little east of Belk and it's kind of shooting that gap between highway 96 to the west highway 159 to the east in Fayette County and this thing is coming right up on the city of Fayette it is a situation where everybody should be taking this seriously at this point small room lowest floor near the center away from windows you pretty much know the routine by now let's see here we're going to look at some updated images that are coming in let's take a look at the wet so five again this is another look from our observers she's been watching the tornado in in southern Fayette County this is from a Hilary Gantt and we appreciate her taking the time to send this in to us and again that is it looks like Charles maybe the tornadoes passed north of this location these are flying along these are moving at 45 miles an hour these storms today so it's a situation where possibly it's out of out of range of her camera view there but that was that's the last shot we had from that spot in southern Fayette County we'll go back and this is what it looked like maybe five minutes ago and again the Weather Service at Kevin law is who's the sue down there the side operations office you think this might have been a sizeable tornado based on the what it's producing in terms of debris being lofted to 10,000 feet and the evidence is still strong that it's there so if by chance the tornado is not down now it could produce again as it approaches the city of Fayetteville over to Fay it's like it's starting to wrap back up here on this yeah reflectivity right yeah that looks nasty Charles it just looks like it's starting to wrap back up and and I mean at its peak we'll get a new scan in here soon but if it is if it's starting to hook back this and starting to wrap back in here Fay it's right here behind the banner and it's moving about 40 45 miles an hour so again it's it looks like it is starting to curl back around and they'll cycle like this we'll see that happen quite a bit we'll see the storm cycle and and weaken again typically with a tropical situation they're very quick to form very quick to dissipate this one though has really held together very well over the last I would say what hour 30 45 minutes at least let's go to some new image it looks like these full screen if we can want to take whacks by full this is coming from reform and let me just say this Charles we're getting some reports now of damage in Palmetto Palmetto is north of reform our initial report is that multiple trees are down blocking roads and Fire Department personnel have been dispatched for possible possible people entrapped in a house we don't know if that's the case or not but again note there is no doubt a tornado came through Pickens County there is no doubt we probably still have one at this point Vaughn Hughes our Sky Watcher says Pickens County Sheriff office mobile home destroyed on highway 17 to the north of reform deputies were following tornado on the ground so Wow so again let's go back to the max one we're gonna go back to the radar we get more images coming in so again clearly this is a situation that is fact let's take some video let's take this some video that's coming in and you can clearly see that that is a tornado and it is down and this has come through Pickens County from the Pickens County Herald reform police reports one home damaged two people trapped in reform again this is from the the newspaper there in Pickens County supposedly at this point based on their reports we have one home damaged two people trapped other reports of people trapped in Palmetto which is north of reform but again this is a live look at sorting not a live look but a look at the way this thing look coming through Pickens County but I don't want the message to be lost here in these damage reports if you're in Fayette you got to be in a safe place right now if you are in Fayette you need to be in a safe place right now it's the same call we've had four people in Carrollton and reform in Palmetto all along here but again that is video of this tornado that came through earlier let's go back to max one the tornado is about six miles southwest of the city of Fayette Co pond the city of fate it might pass downtown maybe a smidgen west of the city of Fayette this is obviously a situation where it's very serious let's go back to xo5 this is another shot of the tornado and again for everybody taking the time to send these in these are extremely helpful and we thank them so much for following us on social media this is from clardy farms and gordo looking back toward reform and again you can see that image was taken it looks like it 346 and that that's a sizable tornado Charles that is not and I will say this now the cloud bases are low and that skews it a little bit but still this has been a pretty long-lasting tornado so that's a remarkable shot of that from Gordo again we have reports again somebody just sent you some video of damage on your Twitter there okay let's go back to the max one and again what we're gonna do is go back and we'll show some some more video not much but it's I would say it's four to five seconds but you can see clearly trees snapped across the or the highway there I don't know if that's highway 82 it doesn't say but this is says reform 20 minutes ago and you can very clearly see that's a tree damage there right this is where the tornado crossed through and this is reform that the video was taken about 20 minutes ago and again that's an example of what is going on here and while we've got this up let me just say this is another image this was from highway 82 coming in to reform earlier today and it looks like he's coming in from the Columbus Mississippi side coming in from the West and again that's a look at that tornado coming through reform we watched it live on our Skycam here on the air and it was just a very scary moment here so again here's a person who spoke with a friend at highway 17 in us 82 that's kind of in the middle of town and this is their okay they have power but clearly again let me just we don't want in the damage reports this to be lost if you live in the city of Phaeton highway 96 you got to be in a safe place there's your tornado that's highway 96 the city of phaeton like this there is a decent chance this is going to be passing a little west of the city of Fayetteville extremely dangerous storm with all of these images we have in the video coming in of the damage so again you've got to take this extremely seriously and that this is a storm that has produced a lot of damage apparently back in Pickens County and is still more than likely producing damage right now can when I go back to a few of these images again that's the way this thing looked earlier in Pickens County that was taken at 346 this afternoon and again that's the way it looked coming through and this obviously is a fairly sizable tornado so let's go back to max one and again we're watching a dangerous storm that has been producing a tornado and more than likely it still is and we've got to take this seriously this is about to cross highway 96 maybe two three miles west of downtown Fayette okay and obviously everybody's got to be in a safe place that's highway 18 right here that's the next highway coming out of Fayette that goes over to Vernon so if you're on highway 96 highway 18 anywhere from downtown Fayette and West you got to be in a safe place you respect the polygon it's not that hard you can see the polygon defined in the shades of red here that red line if you're not in it you're okay you go about your business but if you're in it you've got to do something these polygons are well drawn by the Weather Service they do a great job in putting these out and they define the risk area extremely well we've not issued warnings by whole counties in ten years we use these geometric shapes that narrow it down to where the specific danger is but again Fayette is right here this tornado is going to be crossing highway 96 in a matter of minutes and then ultimately crossing highway 18 and on that track if it keeps on going it's gonna wind up maybe being a threat to Winfield so again this is a situation that is one that we've got to take seriously here and then we're certainly doing that and we want to thank everybody for taking the time to send these images let's go to another look at this this was taken from southern Fayette County and again I want to say this is a fairly current image this is from that high vantage point and we it looked like maybe Charles had got it lifted for a few minutes and it's back down again if it wasn't down the whole time it's it's getting close to either being back down or soon for sure my goodness yeah just looking at these pictures again if you're a Fayette Belka covent me show you some damage here a place immediately all right this is some some damage images first set of damage images we've seen from reform this is on highway 17 I don't know if this is north or south of downtown reform but again you can see very severe damage to some homes and again we have had reports of some entrapment with this with this tornado we have a new tornado warning being issued by the National Weather Service in Birmingham this is for Fayette County this is for the same storm what they're going to simply do is extend the warning out to include Hubbard ville in the northern end of Fayette County so this is the extension just added on here so again tornado right here Fayette right here that's highway 43 going up toward Winfield that's highway 107 right there and again Hubbert Ville is right over here so if you live north to Fayette in Fayette County you got to be in a safe place now Fayette you stay sheltered do not do not get out of the shelter now you want to be in a safe place no cars no mobile homes those are the worst possible places to be in your sight built home you want to be in a small room on the lowest floor near the center away from windows put as many walls between you and the tornado as you can you don't have to be underground again you do not have to be underground to survive these you go into those places and you're gonna be fine the only time you get in a car and drive to a shelter is when you live in a mobile home and hopefully you did that 30 minutes ago or 45 minutes ago this has been a fairly long lived tornado for a tropical situation here so again if you're just joining us this is a very serious situation that is in Fayette County and again this is a tornado that is near or just west of downtown Fayette alright Fayette is right here and again you can see that's going to be moving to the north east just like that it's gonna be crossing highway 17 then getting up here toward the highway 43 Hubbard Ville is right here and again I don't know the situation with the schools in Fayette County but the school officials are doing a great job of keeping these kids safe they're all safe in Fayette County or in Pickens County and I would assume everybody in Fayette County is done the same thing here so again Charles let me let you talk for a second I'm gonna we got a lot of video coming in or what we're gonna do we don't to focus on the damage too much because we have to focus on this storm that is life-threatening we don't play that game here if we've got a tornado down we're gonna stay with this but we do like to show briefly some of the damage to let people know what is going on and also let people know this is serious business right so right now just looking at the full view here of course we've got these storm tracks that pop in here it's this hook right here crossing over highway 96 right now beginning to push to the north the Alabama 18 there and then headed towards 43 Hubbard Phil will be the next in the path of that storm and the The Weather Service extended the warning all the way through the rest of Fayette County all the way up - really the that little where it touches you get into marryin parts of Walker and then of course we may see this if it continues to hold together move into those Marion Walker and even Winston County so again they've extended that warning through five o'clock I believe it was I'll double check that 4:30 p.m. is the initial one that we had the extension this northern corner here of Fayette County really the northern half is until five o'clock so there's a new a new video here Charles let's go back to a wek so 5 this is going to be the tornado from a County Road crew and Fayette this is close to the intersection of County Road 37 and 23 in in Fayette County and again at this point it looks like it's somewhat rain wrap but this seems to be a sizable tornado and again this was at the intersection of Fayette County 37 and Fayette County 23 taken by some folks that are on road crews and again we think everybody for taking the time to send these images to us because that is very important in conveying the information to us name's Kevin law says we need to get people to shelters hit this one hard yeah and that's what we're trying to do Kevin laws are the science operations officer down at the National Weather Service in Birmingham so again that this tornado is near or just west of downtown Fayette alright right there that's Alabama highway 18 Alabama highway 96 downtown fade is right here it might be less than 1 mile west of downtown fayed and that's gonna keep on moving northeast that'll be crossing Highway 18 then ultimately probably staying a longer just west of us highway 43 Hubbard Ville is in the polygon if you're in Hubbard Ville you got to do something about this and if the weather service extends the warning this could affect parts of southern Marion County right now they have not done that but the bottom line is everybody everybody from Fayette to Winfield you need to be in a safe place right now we've got to get people in a safe place we've got a TDS showing up on the western side of Fayette TDS is a tornado debris signature that represents debris being lofted we have seen debris being lofted at 10,000 feet with these storms so again this is a situation where we've got a very potentially a violent tornado here that's an anomaly typically in these tropical bands the tornados tend to be fairly small and short-lived this one has not been small it has not been short-lived when it comes to thunderstorms you expect the unexpected and again we've still got that debris ball signature right here just west of Fayette I give us about five minutes if you're in the Fayette City Limits you got to stay sheltered for at least five more minutes okay that'll be coming up at about 4:23 so if you're in Fayette stay sheltered let's just say 425 the concern is going to be shifting up here to the northern part of Fayette County and again we are gonna stay with this we've done this all along if we are in a tornado warning we stay on the air till it's over doesn't matter what's supposed to be on television if you want to watch something else I'm sorry but our job here is to protect human life and we try and do that the best we can and we've got to be on television to do that and across all the platforms we have so again this is your hook echo right here Fayette right here that's Alabama highway 96 Alabama Highway 18 and again this potential debris ball would be right in through here just northwest of downtown Fayette you've got the community college right here just north of Fayette the Walmart is right here the Fayette Airport sits about right here those people that are here should be sheltered right now and again once that gets to the north you can get out of that shelter but if you give me until 4:00 25 right now it's a let's see it is if 419 I need at least six more minutes if you're in the city of Phaeton be in a shelter and again what's gonna happen that's gonna come really between highways 107 and us 43 and if you're in that zone you want to be in a safe place right away again small room lowest floor near the center and away from windows so that's the situation this afternoon Charles we've got others showers and storms but I want you to understand we're staying with this one because this is the only tornado warning in the entire state we had one earlier in parts of hail and Perry that was canceled so that's the current situation here so again a lot of traffic coming in here and and we're trying to sort out the fact from but here's a shot from Fayette let's take a look at there here's a new shot from Fay this is from Guthrie Park Guthrie Smith part looking due west and again that's what we're thinking is that the tornado is a little west of downtown Fayette that confirms that so again thanks to Chris champion for this photo this is looking west from downtown Fayette we're getting reports of significant damage in the Palmetto community in North Pickens County highway 17 has been blocked that is north of reform between reform and Kennedy and there's calling out for a need of chainsaws now so again there's a need for people to help clear Alabama Highway 17 down in Pickens County where this thing came through because first responders need to get through and it's obvious that we've got some folks that are still in need we've had reports of entrapment I can't go beyond that but again this is a shot there from Fayette so let's go back to max 1 and we're gonna bounce back and forth between these two things and again that's your tornado now north of the city of Fayette and again in about five minutes we can give Fayette and all clear take another shot this is coming from Fayette and again you know from different angles it's going to be really hard to to see this it depends on where you are in relation to the tornado the best view is going to be back in that far right rear flank that's where the storm spotters are and it's moving away from them obviously that person's in some heavy rain and we don't like people being in cars I don't mean to be like a preacher guy up here but sometimes you've got to be a preacher guy and we want folks to understand that we've got a tornado down it has passed just west of the city of Phaeton on north of the city of Fayetteville in the North Fayette County you're in Hubbard Ville any of the communities in the northern part of Fayette County you've got to be in a safe place right now that is a small room on the lowest floor near the center away from windows really a Fayette County Highway 21 if you live along Highway 21 that's the that's the biggest issue the area between bluff and Hubbard Ville that's going to be the greatest danger over the course of the next 10 minutes or so and again we'll see if this thing maintains its current identity and winds up coming up into a Winfield Charles back to you that that thing still looks just horrible on radar it sure does and just I've been kind of double-checking some other stuff here I don't want to forget about every we've had a report of a wall cloud just north of Gordo just want to show that really quick that would be this cell right here does it look terribly ominous here but we do have some pretty good rotation coming out of that on the radar so keeping an eye on that one as well we're getting reports of a lot of damage in Fayette County now from scanner reports I can't go you know my position here Charles position we tell you what we know we don't tell you what we don't know but we understand that by listening to scanner traffic there's a lot of damage in in Fayette County and again here's some more reports customers have damage in Palmetto highway 17 is closed this is north of reforms so the call is for people that might have chainsaws to help clear Alabama Highway 17 north of reform so first responders can get in there and we have a new tornado warning that is being issued for parts of Fayette Pickens in Tuscaloosa counties for that second one Charles that's the one we were just looking at right so and let me and you know as we get into multiple tornado warnings here let me just say we do not use counties that let me make this perfectly clear in fact if we can Charles let's or Monroe let's put me back in the box I'm gonna step out a second you popped me in let me talk about this I want to be keyed in front of max1 thank you let's look at our second tornado warning here it's a long box right that's it right there this is just north of Gordo so we now have a tornado a separate one this is not the same one that's north of Fayette we have a tornado north of Gordo indicated on radar and we've had a wall cloud report and what this thing's gonna do it's gonna clip the far northwestern corner of Tuscaloosa County this has nothing to do with the cities of Tuscaloosa or Northport Tuscaloosa Northport the University of Alabama not included in this warning you're not even close to this it's clipping that far north western tip of Tuscaloosa County from about Brownville up the Moores bridge in Newton Ville okay so I want to make that perfectly clear so this is our second tornado warning and berry in Fayette County is in the warning for this so this includes Moore's bridge in Tuscaloosa County Newton Ville in Fayette County and the community berry which is located right here that's highway 43 curves over to Fayette Highway 13 goes up but toward Natural Bridge and Eldridge and again berry is right here so two distinct circulations two distinct tornadoes on radar now and again I was afraid we'd have multiple tornadoes like this today so understand that's the situation different parts of Fayette County are under different warnings if you're in the city of Fayette Co the city of Fayette the tornado that came through Fayette the past just west of Fayette is located right here that's that and this is the one that's been down for a long time this has been a tornado that has caused a lot of damage we have a lot of things going on here this is an urgent situation where you've got to be sheltered and again that'll be crossing highway 43 in a matter of minutes about eight miles north of Fayette Hubbard Ville is here if you're in Hubbard Ville back over to bluff everybody's got to be in a safe place right now so again we have two distinct separate tornado warnings one that's in effect for northern Fayette County for the thing you're seeing here the other is in effect for the eastern part of Fayette County for a possible tornado rotation coming out of Gordo in Pickens County is this one right down here and again that Clips Northwest Tuscaloosa County and moves into Eastern Fayette County the city of Tuscaloosa not remotely close to this you see the report highway 18 west of Fayette completely blocked power lines trees down I have not seen that's all that one that one's so west of town there so just know if you're in Fayette you can't get out there and help unless you unless you've got chainsaws or first responders again Iowa 18 West headed west out of Fayette Northwest I guess you should say completely blocked by trees and powerlines there so just know that's a problem there and that's gonna be an issue through the overnight hours and let these first responders get out there and and clean this up we don't they don't want you out there on the road driving tonight you come across an area that's blocked it and once the Sun Goes Down that becomes so much more dangerous I would much rather you guys be safe and let these crews these power crews do their job and get things back up and running as fast as they can and absolutely look at some more images Charles I this is this is another look at the tornado and again this is the one that through Pickens and Fayette counties and again we now have a tornado warning for parts of Marion and Winston you saw that notification there so again what we're gonna probably need to do in a matter of minutes here is to go ahead and clear off things and just kind of show you these polygons we've also got some damage coming in from highway 96 in fact say what let's go back to max 1 we can do that please all right thank you some damage coming in from highway 96 this is going to be some damage that is west of Fayette let's look at this back on weck so 5 you can see trees are snapped off there and again this is damage from the same tornadoes so again this is a various serious situation let's go what I want to do Charles let's go to this big map and I want to show all these polygons we're gonna take off the radar data we're gonna make this really simple we are learning that people struggle with maps and we all struggle with things but now we have three different polygons you've got one that's for northern Fayette Eastern Marion and now we have western Winston County under a tornado warning the city of Haleyville is right here so this is for this lead storm that is coming out of northern Fayette County so again we've got Winfield and that polygon brilliant and Haleyville that Liz Suman little tighter let me just kind of show you some of the communities involved in this northernmost polygon and this is this very dangerous storm that has been down for a while okay so brilliants here at US highway 278 interstate 22 is right here the interstate 22 obviously is the big highway here nobody should be on interstate 22 between Eldridge and Hamilton I'll just put it that way between Eldridge and Hamilton nobody should be driving along interstate 22 for the next 15 to 20 minutes wait until we give you an all-clear you can see that Haleyville is now in the polygon Lynn home of the Lynn bears you're in the polygon I was there a couple of days ago do an assembly program for the school so if you are in Lynn this does not include Nauvoo no part of Walker County Navi was right down here that's highway 5 Lynn is here you got natural bridge right here natural bridge Lynn ought to Haleyville Highway 13 you want to be in a safe place this is one you want to take seriously and let's go back to the South let me show you these other polygons we have a separate one right here there's a long pause begone this for a rotation coming out of Gordo in Pickens County that Clips the far northwestern part of Tuscaloosa County that includes Eastern Fayette County so we've got the City of Barrie involved in this that's with the largest town in this polygon but that's gonna be clipped in places like Newton Ville Moore's bridge okay in Tuscaloosa County really from Brownville north of highway 171 that's the part of the warning in Tuscaloosa County and then from 43 new Lexington that's on the Fayette Tuscaloosa County line then back up the bank stand and berry up and through here so those are the current tornado warning polygons Charles and it looks like we have two distinct rotations now these warning these polygons are / - we have one rotation that's located near north of Fayette that's the one that's produced all this damage and then we have another one that's located north of Gordo coming up so we'll put the radar back Charles I'll let you work on that for a second I'm going to show some more eye damage here right and you know what happened was we were just kind of looking at the tail end of this one here moving out of Pickens County now and you guys can leave this up full screen if you want so I can drive that but this one's north of Zion there along 159 about to cross over that northwest corner or at least that western corner of Tuscaloosa County to Newton Ville if you're in Newton Ville you need to be in that safe place right now and you need to be in that safe place immediately it's a good indication of rotation there it does still continue to look like a good healthy spot and then of course the other polygons to the north and it's really - but it's for one storm it's the storm here in Fayette County just south of Bobo there along Alabama 43 and that's gonna head towards Glen Allen if you're in Winfield Glen Allen Bobo you need to be in that safe place immediately and that's gonna move continuing to move up towards brilliant probably within the next 20 to 30 minutes very quick moving storm they're moving in about 40 to 45 miles an hour and good strong rotation this one doesn't look as healthy as it did before but that doesn't mean it won't wrap back up fairly quickly we've seen this as a long-lived cell that we've been following for a long time something that's fairly uncommon for tropical systems typically we see a tropical system maybe one scan rotation is their the next it's gone this has been a long lived healthy-looking cell as it's moved through West Alabama and these storms start generally moving west to east like we typically see this is because of that broader rotation what's left of Harvey they're moving from south to north so we're following these in a different path than what we're typically you know let's look it's a new video coming in off wek so five again we've got a lot of video that you're sending us we thank you for doing that via the social media channels this was taken in reform and again it looks like the tornado is passing off in the distance you can see some debris flying around there that's again off in the distance you can clearly see what could be a fairly significant tornado in that particular video let's go back to max one if we can our main graphic system again we're gonna kind of bounce back and forth between some of this this is off highway 18 let's go back to this image off xo5 this is West to Fayette and again that's a pretty sizable tornado right there and this is what's coming up through northern Fayette County right now so if you are in Winfield any place around Winfield if you're in brilliant if you are in Haleyville if you are in Natural Bridge if you are in Linn you are in the polygon for that tornado and the reason I'm trying to show you a lot of these images and videos is the fact that we know that you do something if you see that well there it is so we encourage you to do something about it it is true the structure may be not as great as what we had to earlier but I'm telling you I'm looking at the velocity and it's still screaming this thing at least the southern storm at the northern storm is more broad the southern storm has got a very very strong evidence of a tornado here so we're gonna do is kind of flip back over to the high-resolution radar in just a second let me show you some velocity displays yeah let's go to the high-resolution radar Wow okay so this is a storm that is now in the far northwestern corner of Tuscaloosa County Tuscaloosa is a huge County that doesn't mean this is near the city of Tuscaloosa it's not this will not affect Tuscaloosa not affect Northport not affect the University of Alabama but again that's a very very strong indication of a tornado that's about to cross highway 1 71 that's up toward Moore's bridge and new Lexington this is the far northwest part of Tuscaloosa County just wanted to show you that and that that is a very very very strong indication and while we have that there let's look for a negative correlation coefficient and we do not see debris being lofted at this point but again remember it takes the tornado getting down the debris coming up and then we'll see it on radar but that is a clear strong indication of a tornado that is crossing over near the Tuscaloosa Fayette County line north of Morris bridge around new Lexington so now let's go back to max one will put that behind me so that is the storm you see right here and that is going to be crossing highway 171 in a matter of minutes and crossing us 43 coming out toward Barry in the eastern part of Fayette County so that is our southern storm we have two circulations we're working this is the southern storm Bankston is here Barry is over here and that long polygon stretches on out into the eastern part of Fayette County Charles let's go back up to our northern storm this is the one that's caused all this damage and the northern storm is this one right up here and I will say it is so much broader on radar much much broader in fact let's let me show you the high-resolution radar quickly on this wind field is right here you and is right here brilliant is right here this thing is still spinning but it is
