A tour of Port Aransas, Texas (Road trip vlog)

today we're driving down from the Texas Hill Country area into Port Aris for the Redbird road trip Port aranes is located along the Gulf of Mexico near Corpus Christi and you actually pass through Corpus Christi if you're driving there unless you take the ferry and it's located north of Padre Island and Porto ranis is on an island called Mustang Island it's the only town on that island it's got a population of just above 3,000 people that are along this 14 square mile strip of land which is one of the largest Barrier Islands that's along the Texas coast so it's a cool little Beach Town they're living the island life out here where things are mellow and slow and where people own boats and they drive around in golf carts and they look at the palm trees and fishing is Big here it might be the number one thing so it's a fishing beach but it's also a Resort Village where they have a lot of Tourism coming in they're known as a big spring break destination for college students so the population of this area increases quite a bit over the summertime and Beyond uh fishing drinking is a big thing here too and there's a lot of restaurants along the island there's also Beyond drinking and eating there's birding that happens where people go and look at birds and there's a decent amount of nature in hiking and you can even go camping by the beach and driving along the beach if you got the necessary paperwork with you there's some pirate history to the area and there's some rumored pirate treasure and the place also has the Texas sandfest that happens every April where they bunch of people come in and they make some really elaborate sand castles so the area that I've been showing here is kind of the main section where you could find a lot of bars and restaurants around and along this walk you can make it out to what's called Restaurant Row where there's even more of them concentrated along with bars there's a big old sign for Fisherman's Warf here and there's a pier and you can even see the ships as they come through and pass through this area so a lot of ships Doh come through these Waters and also along this little walk here I found the Tarpon Inn which is an impressive looking Inn that has a long history that goes back far enough that Franklin Roosevelt actually stayed there so in terms of all the areas that I've been walking around in here there's a number of them that feature live music first off there's the Blue Water cowboy saloon then you got this place called Shorty's place which is the oldest and friendliest then there's Salty Dog Saloon which calls themselves the coolest Honky Tonk on the Texas Riviera and walking around I discovered a few more additional places that had live music posted VFW Post 8967 had some advertised and there was a place called Beach Bums that had a little description out there saying they had live music too but it's a short walk from all the footage I've been showing to the Gaff so let's take it over to the Gaff for the redb bird road trip my name is Dallas burrow and my family and I have a a little music V called the red bird Listening Room in new bronos Texas songwriter showcase format comes from K Finley songwriter circles the sheet Street Warehouse okay and uh it's you know the whole thing is about not just playing original songs but also too being inspired by your fellow songwriter we had a good impressive amount of people showing up here to play music and I enjoyed playing my songs here as well too every day I wake up and I try to figure it out I drink a cup of coffee and then I jump into the shower every day I w i w down the road when I going get upack it up and go thank you for checking out this video I'm posting all about the music scene around Texas and touring around Texas so go ahead and click on my YouTube channel and check out the thumbnails see which topics interest you and check out those videos thank you for checking out this video and thanks for your [Music] support that I think about all the places that we've been
