all right I'm gonna go up on the stage quick gotta do this on Symphony a few years back wasn't able to do it last year on Odyssey but do it this year steps here we go welcome to Odyssey of the Seas 2023 nice big crowd big crowd was waiting for me you can see that all right we're gonna head to the back of the ship go to the 270 Cafe that's right by the main dining room where our muster station is so get something to eat go get the mustard Dill done then onward with the vacation all right so it's November 5th 2022 and I think it is about time that I booked another Cruise because winter is coming quick here in Minnesota about a month from now there'll be snow on the ground and it'll be cold out so let's go ahead and see what we can find and actually I already know when I want to go February but which ship do I want to go on so we have Wonder we have Symphony Oasis Allure Harmony but I think what I'm gonna do the second year in a row [Music] Odyssey of the Seas the last week of February into the first week of March and I did this itinerary last year on this ship and I liked it so much that I'm gonna do it again going to Aruba in Carousel again but then this time instead of CoCo Key they have Lobby is one of the stops and I like to get a balcony and the balconies are looking a little pricey so now you have to decide do you want to pick your own room for Seventeen hundred dollars or do you want to let Royal pick your room for 14 14. I think I'm gonna roll the dice for 350 bucks I think I'm Gonna Roll the Dice and let Royal pick their own and hopefully I get lucky and then also I've never known this before but apparently Minnesota gets a discount so I put Minnesota in not that balcony instead of being 14 14 it's 11 86 so that's a pretty big savings there 421 bucks just for Limited in Minnesota we're saving scroll down to the bottom and agree to the cruise ticket and here we go okay so here we go again cruise week cruise week 2023 and I don't leave till Friday to fly down to Fort Lauderdale but wanted to start getting stuff together make sure I have everything I need have the set sail passed the passport selfie sticks luggage tag holder with the tag from Odyssey of this same uh week last year February 2022 suppose I can go ahead and take that out now I don't need it anymore and put the new one in in color this time finally have some color ink back in the printer not easy to do with one hand all right there we go so yeah I have the set sail pass I'm Emerald now and the Crown and Anchor Society moving up in the world also I did find of all things in my bag here a beef stick from the cruise last year so I guess I forgot to eat that on the airplane on the way home and yeah it's feeling a little stiff so I don't think I'm gonna be munching on that we'll just have to pretend we didn't see that then throw it away there's supposed to be a big snowstorm coming through this week so we'll see it's supposed to come in tomorrow a little bit and then Wednesday into Thursday we're supposed to get I don't know they're saying 12 to 24 inches of snow hopefully it's done by middle of the day Thursday and they have a day to clean it all out before I fly out Friday whoa the camera's dead here all right well the blizzard of 2023 is here it's Wednesday evening right now about 6 p.m and we're not a lot of traffic out on the road so right now it's really it's really not too bad it's coming down but we'll see what happens over the next 12 hours or so supposed to end by around noon tomorrow so it should be plenty of time for them to get all the roads and the airport cleared out by the time I have to fly out on Friday night but I'm definitely looking forward to getting out of here getting down into Florida where it's supposed to be about 80 85 degrees on Saturday when we sail out then spend those eight nights down in the Caribbean in the nice warm tropical air [Music] contemplating isolating and it's stressing me out different Visions contradictions why won't you let me out foreign [Music] [Music] [Applause] and now I do all right made it to the airport Security's looking good drop the bag checked in and the flight is delayed now it's not leaving until 8 PM so it'll be a really late one tonight I won't get in until about 12 30. but at least security is clear I made it made it through security I just need to see what time the flight's gonna leave and hopefully get down to Fort Lauderdale sometime tonight and then aboard the ship in the morning all right made it to the hotel is now going on 1 30 a.m down here in Fort Lauderdale so I'm gonna check in there get the room keys and head up and pretty much go right to bed we're gonna be here for about nine hours maybe how much do we pay for the room 280 or something like that so do the math how much per hour are we spending on this hotel room here uh the flight ended up getting delayed again it was supposed to take off originally at 6 20. and then it was eight and then it was like eight something I don't remember per hour 35 per hour baby all right well I'm gonna head to bed shortly here and then we'll kick it off in the morning ought to see the Seas coming up 11 A.M boarding time needed that because I didn't get to sleep till about I don't know three in the morning and now it's about 8 30 so we got only about five hours of sleep that's all right it's looking like a good day we'll be heading over to the porch shortly all right coming into the cruise terminal getting close now I think I see Odyssey right back there it's almost boarding time 11 A.M so should be on what's going on yet the first ones to arrive no lines so she'll be able to get in and don't know if we'll be able to get right on the ship but should be able to get through security pretty quick okay all right up the escalator we go Fort Lauderdale Port Everglades all right so we have to sit here for just a couple minutes they're already boarding see the people getting on the ship over there so so we're gonna sit here for probably five ten minutes and then head on to the ship notification started all right well here we go so hey everybody today is Saturday February 25th 2023 and Reporting Odyssey of the Seas for a hate night Southern Caribbean cruise and on this particular itinerary we're going to be doing see day tomorrow celebrity on Monday and another sea day and then Wednesday will be Aruba Thursday Curacao and two more sea days Friday and Saturday so I did the same ship the same week last year one year ago and liked it so much I like the itinerary so much that here I am doing it again the only one the only part that's changed is we're doing Labadee instead of okay but I did want to get back down to Aruba and Curacao I really like going down there so this gangway is a little bit longer than the ones in Miami I'm running out of things to talk about but I'm definitely excited it's been a year since I've been on the cruise looking forward to getting out for eight nights eight nights um all right here we go about to turn the corner and board Odyssey of the Seas here we go and we are on board foreign wow look at this they have balloons hello don't hit your head um well usually like to get the muster station out of the way ours are in the main dining room so here's the getting on the ship this way no that's the front we gotta go this way all right so I'm gonna go do the muster station it's in the main dining room and we'll pick back up in a minute here get out of this crowd all right so came down to deck four get off of the main deck five where it's packed right now predictably because everybody's boarding and headed 1 000 feet this way to the back of the ship all right found at 270 Cafe back again A year later with the roast beef sandwich chicken Caesar salad and a Powerade [Music] some great music you don't get to hear it at the mustard station anymore but you get to hear it back at the 270 theater [Music] all right cut cut the music see I can eat this lunch probably go grab something at the bar over there and go to the muster station we'll see what happens all right let's get outside into the warm air [Music] it is a warm one [Music] all right I'm gonna try and find a beer then the room should open in about 45 minutes to an hour all right so the first beverage first beverage on board the ship Budweiser go ahead and crack it open here one in [Music] all right here we are deck 15 the top deck of the ship with the walking Track so that's where we Sail Out short little short little five ten minutes sail away probably takes longer to get the ship turned around pointing in the right direction than to get out of the canal Sail Away Today is at 5 p.m so I'll be back for that lime and coconut a lot of people already crowded around there all right see I'm already feeling the sun it's already feeling the sun it's been winter for a long time up in Minnesota so have to be careful not to get burned last year I got burned on the second day my whole forehead peeled my whole neck field and it was good but uh I'm gonna try and not have that happen this year the sun and the warm and the humidity definitely feels good coming from cold dry winter snowy Minnesota okay I'm at the back of the ship here boarding day is always a little chaotic I'm all over the place I'm just gonna run up here quick take a look at the view and also we have one of these Seafood see-through floors see all the way down to the ocean oh it is the North Stars up I'll be doing that and uh and Aruba it's gonna go up in that thing yeah it does it also just drops at the parking ride yeah so it starts doing somersaults in there it's a nice day kind of a nice southeasterly breeze right now might be able to hear it on the microphone but what is really interesting we can win much at all now when I'm up here out in the open I feel it so they've really done some interesting engineering on this ship to keep the wind level down when you're on the main deck or on the upper deck bull decks it's good because on Oasis class the wind seems like every day it's ripping through at like 20 miles an hour at least all right so I made it to Playmakers having a Terrapin beer on tap before heading off to the room and I heard a very loud noise about a minute ago and you can see one of the glass panes over there has shattered everybody's looking at it there it was a very loud boom so I don't know if a basketball hit it or [Music] the ship moved in a weird way and it cracked shattered it I don't know zoom in a little bit it's all shattered all bubbled out weird but gonna enjoy this draft beer and then in about 15 minutes head off to the room and see what it's all about all right legal Playmakers gonna head to the room good Buick Playmakers though all right here we go let's see if we can find the room on our first try deck eight what room are we in I don't even know eight two three zero here's the broken glass [Music] have it all blocked off now finding the room in three two one go [Music] all right the elevator took too long so we're just gonna take the stairs down it's only six flights and it's going down [Music] that is [Music] feeling um I think we're over on this side [Music] [Music] almost there two three two two three zero eight all right pop those cards open and make sure it says our name is that accurate it is all right that's me all right go ahead and show us what we got here oh you're gonna open the door for me oh nice all right well I guess the bed is backed by the balcony that's what you wanted so what do we got we're gonna do a good do the king bed [Music] you got window how's your girlfriend gonna feel about that she gonna be jealous oh yeah look at this we actually we roiled up and for the second time we won on Symphony a year and a half ago and got a bigger a little bit bigger balcony on this cruise on Odyssey so this is an extra large balcony a little bit more room out here than a normal balcony it's kind of at an angle here at the angle of the ship that way is forward so I don't know I we paid like 200 bucks to get this extra large balcony to Royal up and we won it and bigger the better right so now we just need to talk to the room attendant about getting these beds taken apart and uh then go to the main dining room and see where our table location is make sure we're seated with Brian's parents we're not linked okay so we'll have to talk to the dining room and get things Linked UP all right main dining room next all right still got the reservations linked and we're going to be at table 482. I don't know if it's going to be accurate right now or if they have to readjust but 426 42-433 -482 is what I'm looking for at least the general area 469-475 483 I bet it'll be right back in here so this won't be too bad we get right back here 483 what number is this four seven six four seven five so it'll probably be right back in here somewhere but we will see when uh dinner starts all right so I made it got our dinner reservation lined up the beer at the bar the back of the ship for a little bit here so I've been on this ship once before after doing all Oasis class ships for my first like six cruises but you've never been on this side shoot before right so what's the first one or two things you've noticed that are different a Quantum class then we're on Oasis class it definitely feels more chopped up like what like nooks and crannies here and there type of thing not like that big Promenade yeah it doesn't feel like we have like a major highlights so it goes like this and then over here four intimate settings yeah the first thing I noticed was how much more narrow the ship was when I was on it a year ago like when I walked into the casino it's like I can almost touch both walls at the same time we're on the Oasis guys it's much wider shift so sail away in about two hours and then dinner apparently dinner is 5 PM but I've never had it at 5 PM before but I guess I've switched it to 5 p.m on this sailing or on this ship for this week or maybe it's always 5 p.m on this ship but that's going to be a little different because I've never had five it's always been 5 30. and you know like I said you know a little bit earlier we had I had to I thought the reservations were linked with his parents but I had to go talk to the guy in the main dining room to get it straightened out oh I did find earlier little mini ducks so whoever was putting these out I found it it doesn't have anything on the bottom like it normally does but I found your mini duct the coagulations [Music] all right Sail Out in a couple hours [Music] getting close get close to sail away now we're starting to slack the lines up down here one of them anyway all right there we go first set free once this is loose we should be headed out shortly can you get it by himself one and two all right reel them in and let's get moving I think we have a boat trying to sneak in behind us here as we're pulling out of port over by the Coast Guard there or the Navy whoever that is well all right here we go Odyssey the Seas February 25th 2023 sailing out for eight nights the engines are fired up pushing us out to sea and away we go [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Tuesday Wednesday [Applause] [Music] [Music] some shoes [Music] [Applause] Friday [Music] short and sweet out of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale not like Miami all right well I gotta get to dinner I'm already late see you back in Fort Lauderdale in eight days next Sunday all right I made it to dinner five minutes later from the top deck to the dining room you missed it first night's menu I think we're gonna do the shrimp cocktail crab cake and as usual on the first night whereas a prime rib thing probably the key lime pie for dessert so these are the revamp menus and they're supposed to be a little different but we'll see see if the quality is better worse the same we'll do kind of a review as the video goes along all right crab cakes are out I got two of them because I hear they're very good so go ahead and uh give it a try here thank you so still eating the crab cake I've read some reviews that they aren't using real crab in here but I think it's real tastes real texture feels real so at least here on ought to see the Seas I think they're using real crab in the crab cakes so still eating the second Maryland crab cake but shrimp has come out now as well I always have to do the shrimp cocktail see how it tastes here good fresh and last but not least prime rib so the crab cake was really good the shrimp cocktail was really good the bread was good and we'll see how the prime rib is the last two cruises I've been on the prime rib was not as good as I remember it being a number of years ago but new ship new Cruise we'll see how it is tonight all right let's give it a shot [Applause] all right well the first bite to the indication prime rib is back all right and here we go last course dessert key lime pie looks good so let's go ahead and uh give it a taste here good very good meal very good first night everything was good dinner is over the balcony for a little bit before going to a comedy show a little bit later on tonight at eight o'clock initial thoughts of the first day back in Odyssey is everything is good everything was really really good lunch was good at the 270 Cafe dinner was good prime rib is back after kind of being a little iffy on Symphony and last year on Odyssey the prime rib was a little iffy crab cakes were great shrimp cocktail was good the key lime pie was good off to a good start on this eight night cruise PC's back what's going on here you sound like you're breathing a little heavy there buddy you would care in that right I know how far did you have to go yeah like all the way to the front of the ship to here it is a long way I didn't realize it's a long [ __ ] walk well you just work dinner off so that's the good news all right well comedy's show in about you realize it's 340 bucks right you're not you're not having much of a reaction for all those years I lost can't lose can't lose [Music] it silent party night one when I take the earbud off it doesn't sound so silent is to the Music Hall [Music] Sunday morning February 26th and right now we're just off the North coast of Cuba and we're heading over to Labadee tomorrow see what we have for weather today oh sounds a little windy ah feels good out here though a little muggy a little humid and I have hung my shirts out here once again I did this last year to try to get the wrinkles out and I'll give it another day or so they're still looking a little wrinkly a little a little further south a little more humid I'm having my morning monster beverage that I brought with me and if you know me you know I love Monster Beverage if you buy me a monster beverage I automatically like you like 10 times better so I guess a couple things to talk about per day Numero Uno uh started off at the hotel I ordered an Uber the Uber app and when I first ordered it said the guy was about five minutes away and then all of a sudden he was nine minutes away and then 17 minutes away he kept driving like in the opposite direction so eventually we just bought some shuttle at the hotel had kind of makes me wonder because when one of the shuttle guys left from the hotel he goes all right I'll see you back here an hour and a half at 11 30 still waiting for the Uber so I don't know what's going on down there in Fort Lauderdale but something seemed weird about that and we ended up buying the shuttle from some local person at the hotel so I don't know but anyway we made it to the port boarding went smoothly everything went well and it's always a little crazy on the first day right because people are stumbling around trying to figure out where things are where the rooms are where the dining room table is and I did have to go to the main dining room to talk to the Head waiter or whoever the guy was there managing the tables because we were not seated at the same table as Brian's parents who were supposed to be with but I'm all got straightened out we got seated at the same table and life is good uh the Wi-Fi on board is extremely slow so far so I'm not sure what's going on it's supposed to be the new starling uh internet and I mean before I got in the shower I tried loaded Pandora up and it eventually it came but it took like four tries and I logged in logged out log didn't log out of the internet and eventually started working but it is painfully slow I think I was getting about 0.7 megabytes per second upload speed on either speed test so I'm really hoping that improves because it was not this little last year it's never been this slow on a shoe okay I'm back I had to check my notes to see if there's anything else I wanted to talk about like I said this vlogging stuff is not easy especially if anyone do it once or twice a year it takes a little bit takes a couple days to get into the groove right now it's about 10 a.m I'm a little bit of a late starter compared to probably most people on these cruises I don't normally get moving until usually between nine and ten I'm up in the lake and showered off first day I sucked up a little bit longer and now it's almost time for the breakfast to be over so I'll probably just wait for lunch to open up I'll grab some lunch then hit up the fitness center and then after that talk to the top deck sit in the sun try and get a little bit of a tan it's been a while it's been a while since I've been in the Sun so there's Minnesota winters all right made it up to a local fresh for lunch before my workout in the fitness center it's quite busy in here just opened and as usual I got a big plate of nachos gallo salsas in there pulled pork I can't probably can't see from here but they have little bowls and chips over there and it's easier to dump them out on the plate and then make your own big plate of nachos with the nacho cheese so this should be Capri workout lunch and then yeah get in the business center work it off all that food I had yesterday all right so just finishing up here in the fitness center it's right at the front of the ship so it's a really good view we're heading that way adored Labadee and fitness center was really busy today there's definitely more people on this ship than there were this time last year so now I'm gonna head on out and see what's next all right made it to the top deck it's about three in the afternoon now so kind of wind it down out here really really nice day and you can see from the smoke that the wind I mean we're moving forward obviously but the wind is it's a pretty good wind out here but for whatever reason the way they've designed this ship it's just not that windy up here when you're sitting on the top deck like it is on the Oasis Cloud ships enjoy a little more time out in the sun and then head back probably about an hour all right check that out I got the tie tied on had a little picture here and I got it done on the third try this is the Half Windsor look at that huh fancy all right well we're heading to formal night shortly and beef tenderloin what else calamari wedge salad and creme brulee my wallet no just my seat pass and my phone we've already paid for the dinner remember it comes it comes with the cruise Fair [Laughter] okay number two is French knife and it's formal night as evident by our suits and this is what the revamp menu looks like it's not very much different than what I remember but I'm gonna do the wedge calamari in the beef tenderloin so this should be coming to take our order soon and I think I'm just gonna do a chocolate ice cream for dessert it should be good after a nice warm day out in the sun all right main course of the evening is the roasted beef tenderloin medium rare some asparagus and mashed potatoes and last night the mashed potatoes are really good I don't know what they did but they tasted like smoked mashed potatoes and this beef tenderloin looks good and I did get a second second portion of it too because I do like it all right so dinner's over and I wanted to come up top quick because I saw Cuba and the sunset so get a little video of that Coast first cigar Camacho how are you doing on yours [Music] I will get it open get it cut and give it a shot I'm not a cigar connoisseur like Brian here [Music] this is gonna I'm not gonna be able to smoke this whole thing so what do you think Brian Day number two good so far better than being at home network though yes better than me I wonder if they have all that cleaned up yet how are you doing Minnesota you have all the snow coming up there oh so we'll see what we do for the rest of the night but you can check out Showgirls in a little bit and then after that we'll see [Music] Monday February 27th and Labadee Haiti we are here we have arrived and unfortunately we're on the wrong side of the ship further getting the view of the island but let's see what we can see you can kind of see some of it but good views on the other side of the ship so today probably gonna get off the ship around 10 and then we have jet skiing we got to meet up at 10 30 for that and then once when we're done with that then the rest of the day we have to just relax and enjoy the island all right sitting here in the Windjammer having some breakfast a fried egg kind of a scrambled type egg some sausage fruit and I see people doing the jet skis right now that's what I'll be doing in about one hour looks like we head off this direction all right Labadee good to be it's been uh two years since I've been here last time was February 2020. February March of 2020. so it is a nice bright sunny start here in lobby so probably around 80 degrees and back home it's about 30 with another winter weather or winter storm advisory we have all day here we don't have to be back on the ship until 4 30 so I don't know if I'll stay that long but we'll see what happens once we get out here it looks like it's going to be a good one I don't see too many clouds in the area all right got the life jacket on getting ready to go just need to get my key and then uh we're gonna head down over to the jet skis right over there and get on and head out that direction right past the ship coming down to the jet skis water looks good looks clear so there's nine people in this group and I'm starting out as number seven because I wanted to be toward the back this time last time I was in the front and I felt like I had to have the throttled gun the whole time I wanna maybe take a little slower and look around this time all right we'll be boarded shortly foreign [Music] there we go let's start it up heading to the buoy so right now I'm the first one out to the Bowie and I'm just sitting here gonna wait for the rest of the group to come and then we'll be taking off everybody's coming here BC no he hasn't even left yet what a slacker there he goes I got a good nice view of the ship here while I'm waiting middle of February or into February beginning of March I'm sitting here in a swimsuit it's about 80 degrees back home it's 30 degrees in snow one good to be down here all right third stop next against the coast here great view great View it's a little choppy out here but not too bad [Music] all right I'm number seven so I gotta get fired up there we go Cameron's having a little trouble focusing through my bag there we go so we're at the last stop here we're gonna go pull back up to the dock after we're done here everybody gets in but we have one guy that is really really slow he's just coming in now we've all been here for a few minutes I'll just say that so we put him in the back and that's okay everybody should go at the pace they feel comfortable all right BC what do you think I feel a lot better this time we only paid 50 bucks for that so we got a deal on on Black Friday so jet skis are done now we're gonna head off and try and find something to eat and you get a good deal on the jet ski I'd recommend doing it it's fun about a 45 minute ride all right so jet skis are over lunch is over the tractor ride is over and now I'm in the ocean barely a cloud in the sky so we came all the way down to the uh I think it's called Columbus Cove it's the far Beach there's another one right over there and there's another one but I'm gonna come out to this one first it's a little chilly it's not too bad it takes your breath away for a second it's probably in probably about 76 78 but it's a hot day so maybe it feels colder than it actually is oh man this is how the weather's going to be at all the ports it's off to a good start love the Caribbean [Music] is that right so uh we found a little umbrella deal here still at the same Beach just further down and you know you just come out here and it's like you're at the bar but you're out in the ocean with a better View so what do you think of the jet skis worth the 50 bucks for 50 bucks can't beat it last time I did those it was oh man it must have been 2018 on Harmony of the Seas and I don't remember what we paid then but I think it was probably 90 or 100. and they had a Black Friday deal where it was only like 52 bucks so I'm like well let's do it so another few minutes at this beach and then we're heading down to the next one working our way back to the ship made it over to Nellie's Cove Nellie's Beach whatever it's called and went out in the water for a little bit had another beer now just hanging out and this is the view just looking straight up into the blue sky so we'll be getting back on the ship probably in about a half hour and get cleaned up showered off don't think we're going to the main dining room for dinner tonight it's uh the menu doesn't appeal to me that much so probably just gonna hit up the Windjammer at some point but I'm gonna watch the sail away try and catch a sunset and then see what happens all right this is what I was looking for this path it's just right up right up from the buffet there's a buffet right down there and kind of takes you around the backside as you're coming toward the ship ship is right there you can see it pretty big swells on this side I don't know what this area was ever used for but you can walk back here if you want on the way back to the ship I did this once a long time ago like probably 2018 and it does go out but you have to walk through a little Forest here and then it drops you right down right by where you get onto the ship take a photo through the square wow look at that it's a good shot huh and then here's where it ends it comes right down here goes this way and then right out appear onto the ship all right perfect night for sail away from see it appear a little bit they untied the lines and now we're moving out a good day today in Liberty it's fun went that was fun I'll probably do it again on the trip and uh now off to a show [Music] all right so it is Tuesday February 28th and we are at Sea today it's a little cloudy a little windy right now so we're heading pretty much straight South today and we'll see if we break out of these clouds and get into some sun it looks looks sunny right up here so be cloudy too much longer video screen here where we're at and left left Lobby yesterday and we'll be in Aruba tomorrow but we're making the cross across the ocean so it's warm and it's muggy and there's people doing dancing in the pool all right so it's a couple hours later now and we have gotten out of that morning Cloud Bank we're in almost looked like it was raining or something but but when I came out here and just it was dark and murky looking but for the most part now a lot of Blue Sky get ready to go up to the fitness center um I did grab breakfast at one Jammer and it's pretty good they have some pre-made fried eggs that I like but let's set it out on the plate so bacon and scrambled eggs as well so the cruise so far is going pretty good um the only issue that I really had that bugged me was not being able to get fast internet but I finally got that resolved a couple days ago actually went and met with on the onboard internet Representatives at the home desk and later on I have an iPhone so we played around with some settings and she said normally this works for most people so I left with no resolution and then at dinner at night I was just thinking is there anything else I can do to get this freaking internet to work because I was literally getting like 0.4 megabytes per second download speed where now I'm getting like four or five megabytes per second so working as it should but I ended up resetting my network settings all my default network settings I just reset those to factory default and then relock back into the Odyssey Wi-Fi network so let's go ahead and take a look at the ocean get a little that famous wind noise on the microphone it makes you feel like you're here so it's a little bit rougher Seas today I looked on the TV and it said it's like all right well I'm gonna head off to the fitness center get a workout in come back and take a quick shower rinse off and then enjoy the rest of the afternoon up in the fun in the sun so here's what an afternoon on Odyssey of the Seas looks like today Tuesday February 28th heading down toward Aruba right now finished my workout and went back put some sunscreen on and I just hanging out up on the top deck getting some UV rays so I think I'm gonna sit here for probably about a half hour it's about as much sun as I can take today and then hit up a hot tub and after that shower off rinse off and you're ready for dinner at 5 PM all right I am back back in the main dining room and it is this British night thank you so I've never had British night before this is one of the new menus and some new options here so I'll have to look it over and see what I want to get but last night we just stayed in the Windjammer because we were at Labadie until late in the day and trying to get cleaned up and get ready to come back to the main dining room so back tonight I'll check out the menu see what I want to order all right for the main course I got the fish and chips and I forgot what this was called What's this called the uh Yorkshire pudding and beef beef and Yorkshire pudding that piece of beef might be a little pink for me yeah but the other one and half of this one is good so I'll probably do a review later on in the video of all the different meals on the new meals so stay tuned for that and now we're just gonna finish eating my dinner here and then see what happens next [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] people so just came back to the room to change into some shorts and sandals and have our second tall character week the first one was sitting over here earlier but they took it away and now we have this one here and uh I'm sure it's probably supposed to be a monkey but I don't know I still see a pole dancer pole dancer here put the mask up a little bit there you go got those mysterious eyes behind the mask doing the pole dance I'll leave it up to your own imagination to figure out what you see but yeah we'll be moving into Aruba overnight and get there about I think 8 30 9 o'clock in the morning and then we do have an Excursion tomorrow at 12 15 or 12 30 we have to meet on the pier and then before that we're going to do the North Star so the thing that goes up and over the ship do that at 11 and then off the ship around 12 15 to do the Excursion but now what do you think head out and see what kind of trouble we can get into lots of trouble lots of trouble came back to the back of the ship to the 270 here there's actually a bar back here there's only about eight people here but they have a very big selection and yeah quiet you can actually talk and hear people talking to each other I don't hear who you're talking to hi I have tried right there I've tried this whiskey it's it's blowing the red bottle right there the Texas bourbon never had it before but it's pretty good but it has a very strong Smoky taste to it like an aftertaste and this is what the 270 feeder looks like at night when there's an event going on in here you see and I don't think anybody on the ship knows it's here or it's too far for them to walk because it's way at the back of the ship all right I'm coming into Aruba here bright and sunny but sounds a little windy right now so I have a little while before we need to be anywhere we're going to be doing the North Star 11. and then off on an Excursion at 12 30. all right good morning everybody hello good morning um so we're going to go 100 meters or 300 feet into the air get a lovely view of orange dead Aruba let's find out so all right so I made it out for the North Star free one it's only about a five minute ride you go up just spin around a little bit and then come back down now we need to uh be ready for the excision we're leaving about 45 minutes the downtown area which is the capital of Aruba so the capital of Aruba is Orange City so we're kind of heading out of the port right now and kind of going through some back roads of Aruba to get out of the traffic Europe so this is what it looks like in the back roads of Aruba outside of the port all right all right gotta watch my head hopefully hopefully no earthquake says we're going under this rock all right here we go is that tight fit in here all right almost there short little climb to the top where we came from so we're not too far from the ships it's not a huge island Aruba windy and dry and warm trying to Shield the camera from the wind but I don't know how good of a job I'm doing so made it back giant rock good view but very windy 360. so when you come down it's very steep steps here just don't miss one because if you start tumbling you're gonna tumble all the way down to the bottom here's the cactus growing in the Rock from last year I saw that too looks a little bigger all right made it very interesting climate and environment I would say it reminds me a lot of like Arizona but I don't know it really doesn't it's the cactus and everything but it just looks different reddish brown soil there's some birdies up in the tree it's not a big big iguana or lizard or something where'd he go well I guess he ran away didn't want to be in the video all right well exiting the rock garden here and the cactus garden whatever you want to call it I'm gonna get back on the bus see where we go next all right at the Natural Bridge that will collapsed over there and come down and get close to the Sea over here all right so last year when I was here I made one of these little uh options things a little stacked through stack three three rocks and then you make a wish there's a bunch I wish I made was that like an Aruba same ship same tour same week very original please let's see if we can find three good ones foreign I guess this one I'll keep to myself California Lighthouse it's the last thing when I was here it was so freaking windy I had hardly any video I could use so I'm going to try and shelter the wind this time but it's kind of hard because it is so windy out here so I take a walk behind the lighthouse maybe I just add some music or something foreign way out that way and that's where we'll be stopped next and zoom in on a little bit somewhere over there I'm not exactly sure where we passed earlier pretty nice Island but the beach was definitely the best part in my opinion we have like five minutes here five minutes left here hopefully we get about an hour there is a tough time to get in the ocean all right so just got off the bus there and now to Eagle Beach better it's definitely one of the nicest ones I've been to as I remember it or if I just liked it so much because it was the first time I was here I've already noticed that I do like Aruba I had a great time last year and it's been fun this year but quite as cool as seeing it for the first time last year so I think that's true of anywhere you go right it's always the best the first time you see it all right well come out to the beach and find a spot to set our towels and then put on some sunscreen and out into the ocean all right well the sand feels really good this is for just for everybody at home look at that let's dig those toes into the sand Eagle Beach it's quite long I don't know how long exactly it is but it goes from as far as I can see that way that way up as far as I can see that way very nice reminds me a lot of Hawaii all right I'm gonna get down enjoy the water the Watertown is probably around 80 degrees it's nice so I made it in to the ocean and we have one hour here so probably about 45 minutes left then we have to get back to the cruise ship the tour's over oh yeah this is definitely the highlight of Aruba as far as I'm concerned is Eagle Beach or probably any Beach for that matter but this is the only one I've been to and it's really nice so decided I wanted to come back again if I come back here again in the future I'll probably want to come a third time all right let's see if I can catch a wave and keep the camera in focus keeps going out of focus Birds coming after me all right any minute now sun feels good all right forget it I gave up no no good Breakers coming in right now all right well I swam down probably about 100 200 yards so I'm gonna walk back and get a view what it looks like here oh man that dumped me all right we're coming back into port coming back into Port here Security Guys gotta check our cards all right we passed we get to go back to the ship eat more food dinner is in about an hour oh two hours it's only 4 30. so yeah dinner's in two hours and we're going to chops grill tonight all right it's 5 30 and all showered off now and before dinner have an hour that was a good sunset now it's time to go eat a good meal and have some fun for the rest of the night after that okay here we are chops Grill I have eaten here probably four times before and I normally get the same thing guess what just gonna check to see if they have any new items that I haven't had before okay it looks pretty pretty standard I think I know what I'm gonna get yeah so oh let's order up in a minute here and get the meal going okay so I ordered two appetizers I got the crab cake and it looks pretty good and then jumbo shrimp cocktail and these things are very very large so go ahead and give these a test these are much bigger than the ones you get in the main dining room all right those are good I hope the crab cake is as good and then Lobster fish soup coming out next all right so the shrimp cocktail is gone my crab cake is gone they were both very good now lobster bisque soup so let's go ahead and give that a little stir [Music] and Bone appetite oh there's a chunk of Lobster in there look at that nice all right so main course of the evening is the filet mignon and it looks good from the outside we'll see what it looks like when I cut it open so we got some fries asparagus back there and the steak's looking good so I'm going to go ahead and dig in all right so look at that I got it medium rare very tender hardly have to push on it it's even hard to cut hard to cut because it's so tender all right whatever shall I get I think we're gonna go with the old standby keep doing the red velvet cake until I don't like it anymore so we got some warm chocolate cake with ice cream and red velvet cakes another red velvet cake and more chocolate cake but as usual I'm sticking with red velvet other people are convinced to change to the chocolate cake but not me all right here we go we got napkins cut the video all right Brian you show me how to do this cigar stuff because I'm an amateur it's right about here but that one right there you don't want to smoke it too fast okay welcome to Thursday March 2nd in Curacao we are docked and it's early it's about 7 30 in the morning right now but need to be up to do an Excursion we have to go right over there and catch the bus at 8 30. so up gonna go grab something at the Windjammer click and uh off the ship then over to the bus oh it's actually 7 45. I gotta meet in the theater at eight so gonna be a quick breakfast and then off to the Royal Theater to meet for the Excursion all right here we go win gym breakfast a couple eggs over easy a couple things of milk and this should be good enough to get me through the first couple hours of the day until we get back around noon but Windjammer very busy this morning all the tables are taken to take off in about 10 minutes going up over the bridge so the view the panoramic view and your ship in the back this is the only Island you visit in the Caribbean all right at the liquor Factory to do a little run through here stages right here in this area you can see them all here we have different bottles sizes we have different stickers so you can see the importance where the machine but they are the latest oh yeah all right we're gonna try some samples here fresh Curacao Triple Sec chocolate and then one other one all right here we go I got two I had the chocolate one last year I don't really like the chocolate one so see how these taste early morning drinking got like a NyQuil face another clear one nightclub very smooth okay well I think we're gonna be here for a few more minutes and then uh off to the next stop good thing I ate breakfast I got in the middle of downtown back over the bridge looks like the North Star is up on the Odyssey so that's why they started here they filmed at land and built a refiner I'm 48 the grounds look pretty nice feels like a mid-summer day mid mid Minnesota summer day right now light Breeze some blue puffy clouds nice and warm all right so we came out of the museum back to the bus everybody had to get their stuff out for that bus because apparently we're switching to this bus now and they're saying it's because there's some Parliament people that want the new one and this one's newer than that one I don't know what's going on here but it's very weird right these bus is in the middle of a tour because there's parliament of people that don't want to ride on the old bus but we're gonna go back to the museum here in just a minute and then we have one more stop at the cave after this okay coming down the last hallway here I think we're about done at this stop got some old time machines and all right one last look at the Museum Plantation here nice place but it's very warm and stuffy in there it's not air-conditioned all right here we are entrance to the caves hello okay so they said it's going to be a guided tour and I suppose we'll meet the guide right up here hey Brian no parking up here just so you're aware okay so apparently you cannot take pictures in the cave because it's a commercial cave and the government made a rule about it at least that's what they say so I'm just gonna record a little bit here as we go up the steps and then have to shut her down and there's a little lizard friend right down here what's up homie oh come on the tour let's go yeah so we gotta climb these steep stairwell hot caves go underground but apparently we're going up first so this is the only place I do that we can take video and pictures on the tour so here it is see out to the sky up there interesting so this is come you can see a window so the bats use this window and the front door to go out at night to eat food tour is now we just have to wait for the second half of the people who are on the bus with us to come out of the caves and then we'll be heading back to the cruise ship in just a minute so on this tour we stopped at the liquor Factory the museum and then these caves and I like the Liquor Factory I was there last year so that was fun to see again and the caves were cool um but the museum I think I would have liked more if I could have just explored it on my own without having to be a guided tour now just waiting to get back on the bus and go back to the cruise ship get some lunch on the way back to the ship and there's uh this little Pond thing with some flamingos way out there but we just command the lady went all the way in the water that's not signed a lot more flamingos well it's a wonderful afternoon here in Curacao and we have a few hours left to report I was sitting in the hot tub sitting in the pool for a little bit and now I have to go back shower off and then head that way to the back of the ship to do the iFly experience which I did last year and it was short but it was fun looking forward to it to doing it again but always good to just hang out in the sun for a little bit enjoy the day all right so we're heading to dinner but we just did the iFly experience for the second time on this ship man as usual it's a lot of fun but it's very short you only get one minute in there and if you want longer then you can pay for that and give a little more instruction and things like that but the free one is uh one minute and all good okay one last video of Curacao here before we go we're down there right now releasing the lines so we're going to be pushing off from the pier shortly [Applause] I just blew the fog horn so that must mean it's time oh and we're moving boy when the captain gives the order to go we go hesitation at all right we're off fortunately this means it's our end of our time here down south and we're going to be heading back North but the weather should be fine it's the Caribbean right even if it's cold it's still 80 degrees well that's a wrap second time in Curacao was a good day a few CDs back Wards wow [Music] Friday morning cheers it's uh Friday March 3rd and we are now somewhere in the middle of the Caribbean Ocean we left Aruba late yesterday afternoon and heading back North and let's see how the weather is out here feels good so the cruise it is that's it all of our ports are done and we're heading back home now and let's just take this viewing for a minute I should just sit out here and see nothing looking ocean and nothing else around milk ships in the land just the ocean waves and the sound of the sea and I'll talk more about it later but my initial thoughts on this Cruise would be 90 90 of everything has been good for the most part there are a couple things that touch on max I wish were different the main dining room the new menus I've been reading a lot of feedback on them it's kind of Hit or Miss and I think I have found that to be the case as well and then at the bars the service has been really good this Cruise haven't had a way too long at any of the bars but also the best service so far I think are the health I think it's the crown Compass down on number four and Solarium bar has been really good see nobody's been good just quick Playmakers has been good I'm talking a little quiet because I do have neighbors out on their balconies right now about disturbing too much with my ramblies but overall the cruise has definitely been good so more to come I want to try and do a full review of every menu for every night's dinner that I've had maybe a quick 30 second take on each knife or something like that but I think for now I think it's about time to get moving it's after 10 30 already so day is kind of slipping away from me so we're gonna go into probably up to the Windjammer no actually I'm gonna go to 270 Cafe get a salad and a roast beef sandwich and then hit up the fitness center then probably fun in the sunroom except in the sun try and get a tan before I go back home all right before I work out having a quick meal back here at the 270 Cafe a couple of these roast beef sandwiches I think it's called or something like that is what they call it on the ship but I just call it roast beef sandwich then a Caesar chicken caesar salad so we'll eat this and then go get that workout in we'll see after that I'm just gonna take a quick stroll around the back of the ship at the very back in the 270 theater all the windows see you right out the back it's kind of like the Oasis class where they have that running jogging track and you can sit at the back except this is obviously inside Oasis class you're sitting outside looking pretty good there's some bigger Seas out here today and this is where they do the book you can see the big books sitting there just look off into the distance and don't see anything except the ship's wake from the props and blue sky blue ocean Okay so it is formal night again in the main dining room and it's Lobster night tonight which means I need to get the suit back out here on the bed this is the pants and shirt and then [Music] so this is the beginning of formal night just got out of the shower and now I have to get into all this clothing here and be up to the main dining room in 18 minutes so on a tight deadline we'll see if I can pull it off [Music] whoa it is a hot one we're now on the sunny side of the ship heading back North we get the sunset on this side so it's almost five o'clock but that sun is very hot it's got to be 100 degrees out on this balcony so it is the second formal night it's lobster tonight and we'll see how it is the new menu you get one lobster tail now and then if you want additional you have to pay 16.99 I believe it is so I don't think I'll be doing that but curious to see how the new menu is and then after dinner we do have a show at eight o'clock so probably come back get out of these suits because it's the Caribbean it's really warm and I don't want to be walking around all right so we've arrived at normal night dinner and it was Lobster night check out the menu the new revamped menu yeah it's going to be pretty much the same as usual all right here we go Lobster night so I broke it out of the shell and first impression I think this is really much bigger than what they had before I'll give it a shot see how it tastes all right so the lobster is gone got some sides that I'm gonna eat but I also got the Cod so I'll see how that tastes here in a minute it's a formal night dinner and then I did get baked Alaska for dessert so once I finish all this that'll be out next take a little cut here this is a big chunk whoa it's got a good flavor okay here we go dessert my favorite of the week well red velvet cake is pretty good too but I think I do like baked Alaska a little bit more looks good we'll cut into it and see if it tastes as good as it looks [Music] like what come the chefs [Applause] [Music] [Music] all right so just got done with dinner back to the room out on the balcony and there's still a little bit of the sunset left still some pretty good color out there and people were saying last night that's like Jupiter and Saturn or Jupiter and something not sure all right well I'm gonna head up to the top deck or up to deck 14. grab a drink relax for a little bit and then we'll see what happens for the rest of the night [Music] foreign [Music] I've won every game so far good morning it is Saturday March 4th the last day on board the ship and we are just off the North coast of Cuba right now and let's go out on the balcony and have a little chat it's the last day of the cruise and the new menus in the main dining room I guess is what I wanted to kind of touch on there's been a lot of reviews out there are they good are they better are they worse are they cutting back and I would say yes yes to everything it's really on obviously everybody's gonna have a different perspective of what's good and what's bad and what they're used to if you're a new Cruiser you're not getting a difference your experience you've had the same thing for so many years and sometimes any change to that can seem like a cutback but I would say overall the menu has been fine the first night the prime rib I thought it was great I thought it was better than the last two cruises I've been on night two was the most to be tenderloin which I didn't notice any difference in any other time I found it on any different Crews night three we did the Windjammer now that was a little iffy there wasn't a huge selection and I was just not a huge fan of it I'm not particular Knight anyway a fourth night I think was a British night I want to say look at the fish and chips and that was okay but I would say of all the menus that one is probably the weakest in my opinion for the week night five we did chops Grill you know chops grill that was kind of I think we talked like that would tell us like are they really cutting back and all the quality and everything or what's the deal and as far as I could tell they weren't cutting back on anything in jobs the shrimp the big jumbo shrimp or whatever it's called it's huge the filet mignon was great good cut somebody had a ribeye they said it was really good all the sides were good everything was just great in chops and then last night or night six I don't remember what we did probably the main dining room but I don't remember what the menu was I'm gonna pause the video here and check my notes give me a sec all right back so yeah night six was uh broiled tiger shrimp or something like that grilled tiger shrimp I don't remember exactly what it's called on the menu so the tiger shrimp night was okay um I think that night was just average last night was Lobster night and now with the new menu you do only get one lobster tail and after looking at it a little bit um I think maybe the lobster tails we got last night were slightly bigger than what they've had in the past you know when you can order two or three or four however many you wanted but I don't think it was much bigger and of all the changes they made I think that's the one that they'll probably get the most pushback on but maybe not maybe most people don't like monster like I do but I would rather see them go back to the standard Lobster night menu where you know you can request a couple lectures if you want and then tonight I don't know what tonight is I'm gonna see if we want to go to the main dining room or just do something different but I guess overall Park Cafe or the 270 Cafe called Park Cafe on the Oasis scholarship to put on here is the 270 Cafe very similar they have the Sounds in there pre-made jumped up Caesar salad is what I've been getting all week and then kamalik kamalwick roasted beef I just call it roast beef but they do have a particular name for it that's been really good actually I mean I haven't noticing difference between getting it out here or getting it at Central Park on the Oasis five ships so overall I would say not a whole lot of change I don't notice a lot of difference in the food quality so like I said obviously everybody's gonna have a different opinion on that but I've done I don't know seven or eight cruises now all in Royal and I really and maybe I'm just not as picky but I really don't notice much difference in the food quality this time around oh there is one other one only a little thing I wanted to mention they do not have any Maker's Mark on this cruise and that to me is very surprising I'm sure the bartenders are tired of being asked about it but I mean that's kind of like a big oversight to Big Mist because makers and Coke that has to be like the most popular thing people ordered so not sure why they don't have it whether it's a supplier issue or just this particular Cruise they didn't order any for it or what but get that Maker's Mark back Royal kind of Maker's Mark on the cruise and I and and more thing so Sorrento's Pizza have to talk about sorrentos right so sorrentos has been good I think all week long and I've never had to wait in line like at all maybe 30 seconds to a minute but they keep that line moving there was a cruise a couple cruises ago where I felt like every time I go there they'd have to like make a pizza from scratch like as soon as I get there they'd start making it so I'd have to wait five ten minutes but last year on this ship and then during the screws no issues whatsoever at Sorrento's on the way to lunch and found uh the transient Piano Man I'm go [Music] [Applause] [Music] all right off to a local fresh okay so switching it up a little bit at a local fresh normally I've done the nachos but switch today to soft shell taco and made my own pulled pork got some rice on there pico de gallo a little bit of salsa and it tastes wonderful then of course I'm gonna work out in a little bit so I have to get that caffeine going a little sugar-free red ball on the side but this is really really good makes me wish I would have come here more during the week I always say I'm going to go to a local fresh more but I get distracted I guess all right well here we are the last sea day on the top deck did some sun oh that's bright you can see the smokestacks up there we're cruising along closer and closer to me in the end of the ship or end of the end of the cruise how about a peach Daiquiri I don't think I've ever had this before but it does taste very good refreshing because it's very hot out here today still working on that tan I'm doing it for you Minnesota coming back with a tan because we've been stuck inside all winter long long snowy winter Solarium in the pool here after sitting in the sun for a couple hours need to relax and cool off the water was cold at first but now it's good what's up BC oh you're not talking okay I said what's up BC last day sucks but make the best of it all good things got to come to an end eventually right it's a little more time in here and then back to the room shower off go find something to eat for dinner flowers [Music] foreign all right coming to the end of a good sea day and it looks like a very hazy Sun tonight I don't know what is going on with that but it almost looks like in Minnesota when we have a forest fire up in Canada and all the smoke comes down we have another cruise ship right here so the sun will be setting I think in about an hour and I will catch it tonight for sure but first gonna head up to the Windjammer see what they have up there get some dinner good sunset last night at the Windjammer might have went a little overboard but we'll see I think I can handle it all right so I'm back from dinner and I just wanted to catch the sunset out on the balcony here because it looks like it might be a good one oh yeah look at that red ball of fire off it's not a ton of color on there's just kind of a sun behind behind some hazy clouds so ate dinner tonight in the Windjammer and honestly I think that might have been the best meal of the week usually the Windjammer is probably not known for being as good as the main dining room but all that food up there tonight was great maybe it's just that I got there early I got the right way so maybe that makes a difference but that was a really good meal so this is it only a few hours left to go on the cruise tomorrow we pull them to Fort Lauderdale and get off the ship get on the airplane and go home so this will be a night of lasts but this is most likely my last draft beer at Playmakers Bar and Grill I'd like to come here after dinner every night this week get a beer on tap Terrapin is my favorite that's what I've been drinking all week and this place is pretty cool I mean it has all these TVs so if you're a sport fan world this is a sports bar are a lot of TVs and they have this big one across the way the bumper cars [Music] all right one last drink at the bionic bar Sunshine drink shaking it up [Music] there we go [Music] all right less bionic bar drink look at that professional right there took me three tries all right so last night appear on the what is it deck 14 right last night last cigar so yeah last night last cigar you never know when we're gonna get through this again maybe a while maybe soon but we will see for now the last cigar on this trip eighth night eight night cruise I'm about to see the Seas it again yeah that's good right oh delicious yeah my kidney it's like free it's free load it up I think we just keep sailing around the world yeah they don't come back [ __ ] them we're staying home and then and then we just keep going around the world and we vote off the people we don't like yeah I know you know the people people who try to get on the elevator before you get off that doesn't work in line with the wind chamber that's not working well we are back back in Port Sunday morning March 5th 6 55 A.M let's take a look out here one more time oh look at that first Sunrise I've seen all week close to the airport that's where I'll be headed in just a little bit about an hour from now I have to say it's been a good trip another good Cruise so this is always the least fun morning of the trip you have to get up early shower off grab something to eat and then off the ship and as always thank you to Captain for getting us where we need to go thanks to all the crew for keeping us fed and served Everything clean all week long thanks to our room attendant servers in the main dining room all the bartenders performers for keeping us entertained good week down in the Caribbean nice weather the whole time okay just finished up let's finish up breakfast at the Windjammer it's a little crazy in here didn't expect it to be this busy but departure morning is kind of like the first day of the cruise was just kind of hectic chaotic everybody's all over the place but good breakfast they've had good breakfast in the wind Jam all week I think I'm gonna head back down the stairs back to the room now and then gonna be off the ship shortly all right well I guess it's about time to head on out we'll catch a cab to the airport and that is it for this room eight nights beds are pretty comfortable no complaints a little small and a little tight quarters over here but what do you expect all right [Music] get out of the room all right exiting the ship here we go come off [Music] Shadow [Music] all right so back home to find the vehicle and yep it's still cold still winter it's only about 35 degrees right now I'm supposed to get some snow tonight that's something when I got back we'll be spraying all the snow will be gone but not quite yet so I think that's gonna be about it very nice to see you hope you enjoy it second week on Odyssey and until next time [Music]
