A School Bus Conversion (Time Lapse From Start To Finish)

hello we are Isaac jaylina and Ember and we made this old bus into a tiny home for our family it has everything we could possibly need a bedroom toilet shower bedroom for our daughter closet fridge kitchen wood stove and even a living area this thing started as an old school bus and it was a lot of work to get it where it is today and we encountered a lot of obstacles including the motor blowing up as soon as we bought the bus so let's tell this whole story of this old school bus turning into a home from the beginning let's start now what oh yeah you can get in here the way you should got a little bucket right here well that goes in it that's the trash look at that and there she is there she is 12 valves that's what we're looking for let's check the oil okay does this stay up yeah it should right there yeah oh yeah we're good nice and black we're going from a single wide to a double oh this is pretty good job nothing fancy here babe I'm hyped this is our new house this is our new take the new Big Bus to the Cummins dealership today so I know you guys hear me talk about it a lot in my videos but before I really get into a project or really start digging into a bus I'm always making sure it's mechanically a hundred percent so you know this big bus is going to be quite a bit of money quite a bit of work and I just I'm taking it to the dealer I made this appointment a while ago and they're going to go through the motor they're going to go through the whole bus and make sure that there's nothing wrong there's nothing hiding we're gonna get the dowel pin thing fixed and then when I get the bus back it'll be 100 no problems don't go to worry about it as much as I can and uh I'm hype so I don't know how long they're going to have the bus so I wasn't sure if I was going to film this because I'm not sure how much I'm going to be able to film here so it's really early they open at seven that's why I'm up so early I want to get the bus there as soon as they open and let's go get the bus down there and then we'll take it from there [Applause] whoa all right everybody Jay Lena got here and we're leaving the bus here for I don't know how long and then we're gonna wait for a phone call what's up I'm gonna drive my feet are really cold why are you wearing sandals because I I can't put boots all right so we're dropping the bus off jayleena just picked me up and we're gonna go in town do some errands and then I'll pick this up when I get the phone call from Cummins and see what we got going on with the bus so let's go all right everybody we're going to pick up the big bus so it's been at the Cummins uh uh service place that's all they do is like commercial Cummins vehicles and I call them today and the bus is done so we're gonna go pick it up and we're gonna find out how much it costs so we're gonna find out what was wrong with it so let's go get it Maybe how long has it been it's like a week and a half two weeks [Music] ladies and gentlemen we got our bus back we're gonna talk more about it when we get back they told me this thing is style good to go so I'm stoked and we're gonna get home and then we'll go from there foreign something bad was shaking something's bad going on we're gonna find out what's going on hello look over there you can tell this isn't good right now basically I just got done spending forty six hundred dollars on the mechanic build on this so I just picked it up from the mechanic they've had it for two weeks this is what you should do to every bus that you buy before you start building it so I dropped it off the mechanic and I told them I want them to completely go through it fix anything that needs to be fixed and here we are right now so we just left the mechanic and we're on the way back to my shop and all of a sudden I hear this crazy knocking and I was like did the tire just blow and it's like hitting the wheel well what just happened but then I finally get to a point where I can pull over and it's the motor and when I stop it's just smoking like crazy there's a whole list of everything they fixed and redid on here and the whole point of me taking it there was to make sure it was solid but we didn't even get back to the shop and it's like it's I can't even just starting it I feel like it's bad so that is what you should do before you build your bus you should 100 make sure it's solid but something happened I don't know what I don't know if it's something they did I don't know if something just broke on the way back I have no idea but it ain't good you can't even start it I feel like it's damaging it just being on there's fluid underneath the engine it's all bad [Applause] [Applause] foreign [Applause] it's the moment I've been waiting for it's the moment a lot of y'all have been waiting for I'm going to pick up the big bus right now just got a call from Cummins done he said he's driven it around a whole bunch to make sure what happened last time doesn't happen and hopefully we get back to the shop so let's get into going to pick it up I'm stoked I hope you guys are as stoked as I am I love that bus we bought it for Ember ember's here now let's go get it there it is there's the bus we're gonna go in and pay for it well there she is y'all I just paid them twenty one thousand dollars 21 000 for this bus right here so let's go check it out all right y'all let's just got them sikaflex homeboy got the off-road LEDs wired up oh so now when we out in the woods looking for Hot Springs we can see what we're doing you know what I'm saying so when you turn the bus fluid it's not good what are you thinking sir so I think so this hose here these two hoses are movable okay they can actually rotate so if we pull this out of these hangers rotate the hanger and have this basically loop around rotate this 90 rotate this 90 get rid of all this and then reattach it using uh or changing where these two clamps sit so yeah shouldn't be too bad of a problem oops making a little bit of a mess [Music] look at all that math dude did wow all right ladies and gentlemen so usually I'd be stopping about right now but I think Josh and I are gonna go hard because we have a swervin real construction workers got tool belts bro look at this one thing I'm noticing that real construction workers do different than me is they do a lot more planning so they do a lot more planning I do a lot more sending this is not it's not worth like cutting up a whole piece of sheet a whole piece of plywood just to find out you just cut it too short or too long you got to cut it supposed to hold like 2 000 pounds a piece I'll put a links all that stuff but now we're gonna test it right it's all in theory just because they say it holds 2 000 pounds doesn't mean it does so I figure if I can lay up in there and it holds we're gonna be all right so let's find out what happens oh bro no problem bro all you haters out there thinking you can't do it like this you wrong you wrong this is strong bro hey yeah I just it's dark now so you can see it better look on off dimmer how cool is that that's awesome so we started putting fixtures on the fuse blocks um we got the fans barely get in the front door in my little Bays so that I'm not just tracking a bunch of mud in and out as I finish this hypothetically this should be my last build day our lease ran out on the bigger base and we just have some small projects to finish to be a hundred percent and jaylina talked and I talked about it we want to be a hundred percent before we actually move in hopefully uh by the end of the day I can tell you I finished it all so let's get into it [Music] [Music] thank you [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] ladies and gentlemen it's official the bus is done done jailena finished the last little project putting the whatchamacallits up the Caps we just did cork boards that we could put pictures or whatever up there but that's it time to move in she gotta go put some diesel in the diesel heater but that's it time to move in so it's really late and we're tired so I doubt we're gonna like like all the way move in tonight but uh we're all gonna sleep in here as a family tonight and we'll probably bring the bare necessities out here um but yeah the bus is done [Music] it doesn't seem real that these cushions I'm sitting on came out perfectly and if you're thinking about learning how to sew cushions just know but by the fourth or fifth one you'll be great we just want to let you know it's official the bus is done which is crazy to think about we finished our tiny home on Wheels and we are so happy with how it turned out we are so grateful for all the people that were a part of it I think it's very important to remember where it all started so that way you can have respect for the journey and how far you have come you can also turn your dreams into a reality foreign foreign
