A Pokémon Team History - TheCartoonGamer

[Music] when people look back on their times playing a Pokemon game likely one of the first memories that goes through their mind is what Pokemon they caught and more importantly the ones that had a permanent spot on their team Pokemon that led them to tell miss victories and that they would form bonds with that would last a lifetime I played through at least one game from every generation and as such have had many teams throughout my adventures so from humble beginnings to my most recent of outings this is my own pokemon team history I should mention that while I'm going in order of the generations I didn't start at Gen 1 and to play many of the games out of order for example I played through hard gold after playing through white but that's not a big deal just throwing that out there so without further ado let's start things off with Kanto red was the last of the Gen 1 games I played and it has one of my more diverse teams for the time it consisted of venus or primate clefable pikachu Pidgeot and Lapras clefable in particular was a standout addition i had never used one before then and since it was a normal-type it could learn just about anything I needed it to it had fire blast saying metronome and bubblebeam serving both as my fire type and my water type until I got Lapras from sylco Pikachu is also my go-to electric type in the gen 1 game it's found very early on it was just a tiny bit better than it was after the special stat splint - which isn't saying much but whatever I like Pikachu ok I also never evolved my Pikachu you can blame the anime for that for making me think that all right you or Church yellow was the second of the main series that I played and featured one of my most cherished team it consisted of Zippo the charizard blastoise venusaur Mewtwo Articuno and my Pikachu named Sparky I also had a Butterfree early on that I nicknamed happy and there is a reason for the odd nicknames here and there I read a rumor online back in the day saying if you gave your Charmander Caterpie and Pikachu the aforementioned nicknames Pikachu would have a hairdo like Richie's own in the anime of course that did not happen and I felt a bit dumb afterwards long after the main adventure was over I busted this team out once more for the pride Cup trials of 2016 in it they managed to accomplish the impossible and I got my very own surfing Pikachu but it was a victory short-lived addley when starting up the game earlier this year my transfer pack just corrupted the file and it was destroyed a file I had for over ten years at that point thankfully I still do have the main team saved as a set of registered Pokemon so the legends live on now on to Jen to longtime viewers may know that silver was my first core series game and I still remember my very first tiem I started with cyndaquil which would become Typhlosion and he played the role of my secret weapon this was also the first time I used the Pidgey line so I also had a Pidgeot and ferd was another early route Pokemon I added to the team because of how diverse it was when I discovered it could learn surf I didn't want anything else because I thought that was so weird and cool to see because of that I've always had a soft spot for it another star player was Empress and it's become one of my favorite electric types to use since then I also caught a Bellsprout which turned into a weepinbell and it did alright but I never managed to evolve it into victreebel it wasn't as ill weepinbell was in his late 40s did I realize that needed a leap stone to evolve but there weren't any in Johto aside from the one you got from picnic arena so a weepinbell he stayed and lastly I also had a togepi it never evolved because it kept getting hurt in battles and was way behind in levels compared to the rest of the game it was more like the team mascot on repeat playthroughs I also use beach starter lying though I lean towards Meganium alive and I used ho-oh and lugia a lot too for Ruby I really only had a consistent team of five with the six Pokemon constantly being swapped out this team had swellow main ectric Hariyama pelipper and my sceptile named Grassi also had a shiny crow bag that found his way onto that team and they've all been transferred to pokemon white I also had a wobbuffet and it was my first proper time using one it was a great 6th Ranger and was the only reason I ever managed to catch Latios I remember I caught it on a vacation at Great Wolf Lodge back in March of 2008 LeafGreen was similar to my red team even though I played red after I did this game I chose a venusaur for my starter had a Pikachu a primeape a pinata and elaborate but the outlier here was a Butterfree I don't know why I decided to keep one throughout the adventure but he managed to pull his weight he served as a discount psychic type knowing psychic inside and was the only thing that could take on blues out of Kazaam because he knew silver wind funnily enough when I transferred my team to why I left poor Butterfree behind back in leaf green if he was just left in the PC after I swapped him out with a Dragonite I didn't mean it I swear to this day the only Gen 4 game I played his heart gold but it was still a new experience team wise I caught a cycler in the bud catching contest and decided to use one for the first time ever and she was crazy strong a striker as I named her managed to take out both whitney's and Claire's teams with her technician ability and a wing attack combo I never evolved her into scissor or even thought about it because she's plenty strong enough for a flying-type I switched things up by using a fearow before then I never used one because I had a stigma that bureaus were evil again blamed the anime but it was a good addition and I named her drill bit I used to weepinbell again that I named bellhop and got a victory bail out of it this time it was the untapped potential I had wanted since silver and though he was still the last to evolve on my team I got him before the end of the johto run this was also the first time I used a magmar one of my favorite Pokemon and I was not disappointed i nicknamed him Pyrex rounding out the gang was an Ampharos named chase a primate named crime I like primates in case you didn't notice and my Feraligatr Jon I first entered the Hall of Fame on July 21st 2012 and my first three records are with these guys only - drillbit I'm sorry Gen 5 was where I got a grasp on stats and really started to pay attention to what I should catch luckily with universe roster there was a lot to pick from and I got a pretty cool team to show for it I started off with a superior named Sir pecks jr. and he only had gratz attacks didn't really get into diverse moveset yet I also had a scrappy and he was amazing had a cool unique typing and move pool and was able to take on three out of four elite four members without a problem I nicknamed him gangsta because I don't think there's a more fitting name than that other members included as our man attend named conga and excadrill called jamjars a seismitoad called hypnotoad Martita zeb strike a rock the krookodile amma Sharna called crescent and paged the unscented this was also the first time some of my Pokemon reached level 100 of which 3 hit that milestone Peck's jr. pitch and jam jars on two-way - this is my first time delving into a third version proper and I was surprised to see how different my team was from my last outing with the Pokedex expansion I was able to mix new favorites along with old ones plus stuff I had never used before I had an Ellicott and evolved it into electivire a gold duck names any and arcanine a Lucario and a brave iary named america i once again show superior as my starter but he had a much more diverse move scent of leaf blade gastro acid aqua tail and outrage no doubt one of the coolest teams I've ever used though unfortunately I lost my copy of weight to one day out of the blue though if I rebuy the game I'm sure I could just rebuild that team and now on to Gen 6 where I started off with a greninja named broken Stein the bond I shared with him felt the most genuine out of the entire series at that point and he became my strongest team member got a Venus or obviously and I named him Jambo also had a gang gar a talonflame named FINA my second strongest team member and a helioptile named thriller never evolved the little guy because I initially been like how heliolisk looked but I trained one up later on though the strangest addition to my team was without a doubt my Dunsparce named jorpe y Dunsparce exactly well I was hoping it would be one of the lucky Pokemon to receive a mega evolution but by the end of the game I learned that wasn't happening I stuck with dwarf anyways and he was a real underdog my white game also has a lot of Pokemon that I use for online fight goodra empress wobbuffet furfrou donphan kangas gone Jen takes had so much to choose from andis ability to train them to in Omega Ruby I again shows a sub tile and named him Junko also had a swellow named avian and a pelipper named Wanek i used to Ludicolo for the first time when my brother traded me one and since he had counter using him on physical hitters was a ton of fun his name bunda I also had an Agron called Erin macree ex and his defense really came in handy during the fight against Norman he took every hit from both his slacking and subsequently took them down and this was when he was still an arad other first timers were a camera up to names Baku ANDed Whaley that I got late in the journey I loved Glalie since I first saw Ashe his own in the anime and with its mega I saw no reason not to use one ever gave him a nickname though now I already went into detail about some of my team members in my top 10 Aloha Pokemon video but here's a brief rundown mainstays on my team included free marina mimic you mud bail Kamala to Kenan and beware I also had Vicky's Bulls as my electric type and it was cool how it was just a bag full of tricks as a charge a bug it learned stuff like crunch acrobatics accessor discharge Kenzi I expected all that from a little bud battery and his name is Griff Grubb also had a crib brawler because like everyone else I thought this was the coolest crab Pokemon we have ever gotten his name was krub and he went into every fight ready to take on the world and later evolved into curve Amon a bull so there you have it 20 years of Pokemon teams in the spinels a little over a decade here's to many more in the future from new and old games alike and I swear I'll play platinum someday that's the only glaring omission and I am NOT going to hold my breath for Sydow remakes when platinum is already the definitive Sinnoh game whoa where'd that come from thanks for watching everybody I really appreciate it if you enjoyed feel free to give this video a like share with a friend subscribe check out all my social media pages all that good stuff and if you'd like to share some of your own pokémon teams don't forget to leave a comment down below I'm going to take a little break to relapse and work on other stuff but I'll be active on my various pages and you'll see me before too long plus there's a months worth of videos to watch in the mean time right right and with that I'll see you guys next time thanks for joining me once again on this event I like to call pokemons catch you later [Music] [Music]
