hello everybody my name is Luke Mara and this is hallo mode and to damron the mode we are going to be talking about why Dolce and Gabanna are so problematic but before we get into the actual video if you guys are looking for a channel that talks to up fashion the most fun sassy pitching out of the hallway this is a student down below if the subscribe button I turn on my post notifications like what do you have to lose also if you like these analyzing contra brand videos definitely give it a like it lets me know and I can do more and if you want to see more from you can follow me on instagram I upload both amazing memes and in scrim stories and it's also where you can see where any of the pieces that I'm wearing in any of my videos or purchasable this one's finished Versace because we're just living our Italian dream today but let's get on with the video now a lot of you guys have been asking me why I hate dodging davana and why I think dolce gabbana is trash well I think this video will be a great way for us to discuss all of the times of dolce gabbana have [ __ ] up their own public image and why that has led to me hating them so dolce gabbana is one of the most popular brands in today's luxury market that's undeniable they're Sicilian style and licensing deals have made the founders Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana household names or at least household last names and wallet can you spoke up on a quote from The Devil Wears Prada is iconic oh okay can you please [ __ ] the Bona hello yes the duo in recent years have become a lot less iconic than they were just a little history on dolce gabbana they showed their first collection in 1985 and knocked on the brand was born they first showed women's wear and then started to show menswear and children's and also started to do fragrance deals and show a lot of accessories and for a long time they weren't really doing anything crazy they were just dolce gabbana showing good shows they had those mosaic shows or the shows where they were doing the poliana dress or those shows where they did really cute little pajamas but as of recent years the duo has come under a lot of fire from the press and from audiences around the world for the way that they talk about people for the way they talk about social issues and the way they just present themselves whether it's on social media or in the meeting in general and the worst part is the design capacity has gone to [ __ ] it's really awful the clothing is the same every single season which doesn't even allow us to say oh well at least their clothes are good and that is lesson the brand in so many different ways today's video is essentially going to be a history of gelatine Bhuvana being super problematic so let's just get into our timeline the first stop on earth dojin Gabbana is problematic as [ __ ] or is their comments on gay marriage and idea which is in vitro fertilization back in March of 2015 in an interview with panorama and Italian magazine the duo stated that children born of IVF are children of chemistry that there are synthetic children that uterus azar for rent and semen is chosen from a catalogue if you don't like ivf just say you don't like my idea don't be a dick about it Domenico Dolce who I thought was a less problematic of the two proved me wrong when he said I am gay I cannot have a child life has a natural course something cannot be changed one is the family and historically you're [ __ ] wrong and we know like don't push her on like some [ __ ] on other people well Elton John wasn't very happy about it and his Instagram posts read the duo to filth Elton John does have children that were born of IVF and found it very offensive as he probably should also Domenico dole chain Stefano Gabbana David for literally 23 years so like do you hate yourselves like is internalized homophobia like part of the relationship like let me now L John was joined by the likes of Ricky Martin who is another early openly gay and celebrity and Chrissy Teigen also stucked in as the queen of Twitter and morals the designers later apologized by saying that their views were traditional rather than judgemental and that they believe in freedom and love 2016 was a doozy for the brand though they invited social media famous Millennials like Cameron Dallas and so if we were Richard to their sperm 2017 show they also introduced a hijab and conservative line and while many Muslim women were overjoyed that they were finally being recognized by a brand some also said that the line didn't seem genuine and that was for monetary value rather than a care for the Muslim community they also introduced their slave sandal on their e-commerce site which was guarded with uproar from the internet as well I mean if you call something Esley of sandal like expect it to be [ __ ] on like you're an idiot 2017 started as a bang when Stefano Gabbana made comments about Lady Gaga's weight during her Super Bowl performance he also later apologized then for the fall 2017 menswear show the duo actually had influencers walk this definitely was a gimmick and it's something that has continued in most of their menswear shows it's definitely controversial in the fashion industry because it does take jobs away from models and essentially alienate them from the industry and it's also controversial because many big influencers like Austin Mahone Cameron Dallas Marcus Butler and ami song all combined themselves with Dolce Gabanna brand and that was sad a little while after that stefano Gabbana decided that he was going to call out a few brands for copying some of the dolce gabbana runway pieces Gucci Moschino and Chanel were a few of the brands that were called out some of the accusations at substance and some didn't but Stefano was actually called out because of his copying of a sex necklace that was done by Timmy in Westwood previously those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones then one of Miley Cyrus's brothers brazen actually walked one of the Dolce & Gabana influencer shows she went on Instagram to congratulate him with a post PSD and G I do strongly disagree with your politics but I do support your company's efforts to celebrate young artists and give them a platform to shine their light for all to see Gabbana responded with we don't need your posts or comments so next time please ignore us and then add in we make dresses and if you think about doing politics with a post it's simply ignorant which again that's not true social media has been a really great basis and platform for people to put out their political ideas and stuff Donald Trump on tweeting that we're not going to talk about one of if not the biggest debacle came as Melania Trump the first lady and wife of Donald Trump was photographed out and about wearing dolce gabbana the internet began hashtags to hashtag boycott Dolce Gabanna after she was wearing numerous pricey looks by the designers and this all came as a lot of American designers publicly said that they would not be dressing Melania which is a really uncommon thing for American fashion designers to not trust the First Lady of the United States after that the brand decided that they would want their own hashtag boycott Dolce Gabanna T for an exorbitant price after the hashtag became popular on Instagram just like you know politics and fashion do go hand in hand because the one thing that every single person on this earth does besides a few nudists is wear clothes so clothing has always been political and will always be political during the same show that Miley Cyrus's brother walked and Rory and Atlanta singer and influencer to show off his chest were lines like protests and DNG give me freedom were written in a later GQ interview Rory said that he felt that the boycott Dolce Gabanna t-shirt was actually hurtful and was making fun of what protests actually are for the voice of the people he also expressed that he felt very unsafe after the show where security was giving him and his manager a very difficult time stephannie then also let his opinion be known after Maria gratia curated second your couture show on Angela Russo's Instagram the fashion editor at large of both Japan he commented hot spot lianna poodle call me all Selita excuse my attire pronunciation might not be the best which roughly translated to wrong as usual no he's not wrong about that collection but [ __ ] check your own damn [ __ ] like have you seen the delivering a momma collection lately like that she doesn't look good so leave the calling out Maria gratia Curry to the professionals aka me the most mon on instagram fight that Stefano Guevara participated in was actually the birth of a new age of fashion medium his petty Instagram arguments with daya Prada cemented them as a voice in the industry daya Franta called out dodging Ivana for copying a sales display concept from Gucci Stefano fired back and called out Gucci for copying them later the iconic battle ensued and Diet product did not take any prisoners and they stood their ground and thank God that they did this fight actually showed the industry that having a voice that is independent and that does say things that fashion brands don't want to hear is possible recently though Dolce Gabanna has made a hashtag please say sorry to be sure which was one of the iconic lines from Diet Pradas fight with them in February of 2018 the business of fashion who also has had a rough patch with Dolce & Gabbana put out an article that explained that although their tactics were unconventional and were morally wrong all of this bad press was not actually affecting coaching the banas business so I guess even awful rich right-wing conservatives need a place to buy luxury fashion another fun little tip that I found out about was that Stefano Tonchi the editor-in-chief of W Magazine was barred from dolce gabbana shows so during the dolce gabbana fashion show timeslot he would hold a lunch for all of the other editors and fashion people that were barred from the dolce gabbana shows as well if that is not life goals I don't know what is the real reason for this video was stefano cabanas comments on a picture of Selena Gomez on a catwalk Italia's Instagram page which was looking at Selena Gomez in an array of red dresses Stefano from his personal account commented appropriate brutha which roughly translates to she's so ugly so a wrong B I know she has questionable fashion choices don't blame her it's on her apologies in a coach contract see I don't even really like Selena Gomez and I'm like you're just an [ __ ] like why are you saying that it's so unnecessary the silly inators yeah I just said that aka her fans quickly rushed to her defense and literally just attacked Stefano on Instagram and it was beautiful to watch even Miley Cyrus who has had beef with Selena Gomez in the past came out and said that that's not ok and that that is not what should be happening I love that like setting aside your beef in order to come to another woman's defense is literally what I love about women like it's iconic and I love it and we're all here for it then Stefano comment didn't know on a picture of legendary icon and fashion model Kate Moss where her legs were showing yes they were legs and I don't know she's a woman so she's aged but like he just commented no like [ __ ] do you know what you look like don't be home from she's still an icon like you're disgusting like sorry you're hateful and it's reflective and all of the things that you do including every runway show that you put out but like we don't want that toxic energy here okay so bring it somewhere else Thanks then during a BOF panel celebrity fashion stylist Carlo Wells who works with celebrities such as Kate Blanchet and Sarah Paulson openly stated that well I reacted poorly to it I had Dolce on my rack for a fitting and then I was like no those can go away great don't that's just hi James Bolden stylist two taraji B Henson Yara Shahidi and Sabrina carpenter just to name a few during the same panel said I pepper that you will never see do--she you since the beginning of time you not see dosha Iraq my girls we don't bummer it's major right and they fit everybody that's the sucky thing those those those silhouettes are amazing they are for big mamas and they hit they get everyone but like literally my girls are like what and I'd like it was a collection I was like oh my god I need dress 23 I need dress 23 did he just say that right throws that that's out that's a done deal I love fashion solidarity most recently in the automotive fashion show by Dolce & Gabbana both Naomi Campbell who is a British Vogue contributing editor and friend of Kate Moss and Lady Kitty Spencer who is a niece of Princess Diana both seem to have a great time or at least both may not seem that way Liam Payne was also in attendance and he also sang at the after-party of the show which leads me to believe that he's trying to have some sort of Harry Styles Gucci esque collaboration moment okay so the thing is I'm not a gigantic Harry Styles fan at all he literally is like one of my least favorite members of what direction but this boy literally auctioned off one of his pair of rainbow Gucci shoes and in order to benefit an LGBTQ charity Liam you've stated in the past that you like the duck dynasty family when they were making homophobic comments and now you're pairing yourself up with one of the most problematic if not the most problematic brand in fashion I hate to break it to you babe but it's not similar at all and you're doing a really great job of blinding yourselves up with homophobe so ya know a bunch of you guys are probably gonna say well I can't even do anything about this old old ink about a mess because I can't really afford the clothes well that's not true again a lot of influencers are working with Dolce & Gabbana and they've been working with Dolce & Gabbana consistently you can tell your favorite influencers that are working with the brand to stop working with them dyma Prada told Anthony parofsky and tan France a queer eye that they shouldn't be working with Dolce & Gabbana and they stopped and now Antony is wearing Tom Brown and it's great but yeah you guys are the power to tell your favorite influencers and your favorite brands what you really think some of the brands might not listen like Dolce & Gabbana but I'm sure that other influencers will and if influencers find out what these brands stand for they actually will probably on their own take into their own hands and cut ties with them that's what happened with Rory he actually looked about what happened with Dolce and Gabanna the day before the show and that's when he decided he was going to protest so fashion is not something that you guys cannot have a say and we can all have a say in the industry we all determine what isn't what isn't in fashion if we say from now on that Dolce Gabanna will never ever be cool to us the brand will have no power for anybody else because Dolce Gabanna customers are buying it because it has a cloud it has hype that has sentiment but we can change that so please let me know if any brands you guys want me to do a similar video about whether or not they're problematic and I want to thank you guys so much for watching I hope you enjoyed I will see you guys on the next video and TTY
