A Faithful Man // Manhood Monday - Concord Church

what's up family i pray that you had an amazing week and a great labor day weekend welcome back to another installment of manhood mondays these are our weekly devotionals where we give you all of the biblical principles you need to aid you in your path toward biblical manhood today i just want to pause and encourage you brothers there's been so much going on in our world and i find it most appropriate that when life is filled with change and instability that we need to reflect on the one who never changes the one who has never lost the battle the one that has never run into a problem that he cannot handle and the one that will never leave us nor forsake us our risen savior and redeemer jesus christ so today as i encourage you i want to do so by reminding you of a critical component of the character of god and that aspect of god's character is god's faithfulness you see god's faithfulness has to do with his ability to stick with us even when we try to run out on him god's faithfulness points to his unchangeable nature the fact that he will keep you stable when the circumstances of life are topsy turvy and they leave you shaky god's faithfulness will keep you and sustain you through whatever life's low moments they're at you so as we reflect on the faithfulness of god i want to read a passage of scripture written by someone who experienced his fair share of difficulty in life that person is none other than israel's weeping prophet jeremiah you see at this point in jeremiah's life he was devastated over god's judgment of jerusalem and the destruction of the temple he was so devastated that he would pen the only book of the bible that was filled completely with laments the book of lamentations but in the midst of this this book of lament and looming calamity and despair we see god shine beautifully through with this incredible promise so let me just read this promise of god's faithfulness that's found in lamentations chapter 3 verses 22 and 23. let's listen to the words of jeremiah the lord's lovingkindness indeed never ceases for his compassions never fail they are new every morning great is your faithfulness what an incredible promise from god you see nestled within this short promise are three things about the character of god that will serve as an encouragement for you and i as we take on whatever this week throws at us first and foremost god's love never fails verse 22 tells us that the lord's loving-kindness indeed never ceases this word loving-kindness is the hebrew word has said has said points to the loyal love of god the love that never fails that never gives up the love that never runs out god's love is vast and unending so never forget that god's love will far outweigh any stronghold insecurity or affliction you may be facing even in the midst of your pain feeling neglected and lonely we serve a god that loves you more than you can ever imagine god's love never fails second this text tells us that god's mercy never runs out since god's love never fails his mercy will inevitably never run out on you you know uh grace and mercy are the two things that god does without us grace is god giving us something that we absolutely do not deserve but mercy is god withholding something from us that we undoubtedly have coming to us and the good thing about god's mercy is as it's so comprehensive it's so vast that no matter what you do his mercy will never run out on you as a matter of fact no matter how bad people feel about the thing that you did please remember that jesus christ nailed that very thing to the cross over 2000 years ago on a hill called calvary and because of that all of your sin all of your mistakes will fall exhausted at the feet of god's mercy god's mercy will never run out of you because this text says that his compassion never fails then finally brothers the last thing that you and i need to remember is that god's faithfulness will never let you down people will let you down systems will let you down government will let you down technology will let you down but god's mercy will hold you up so let me close by giving you the lyrics of that old church hymn great is thy faithfulness o god my father there is no shadow of turning with thee thou changest not thy compassions they failed not as thou has been thou forever will be great is thy faithfulness great is thy faithfulness morning by morning new mercies i see brothers that's it for this installment of manhood mondays and as you go out this week please be reminded that you serve a god that is faithful and his faithfulness will never let you down i pray that you have an incredible week and lord willing i'll see you next monday god bless [Music] [Music] you
