A Day in the Life! - Owning and running a glamping site!

[Music] so we're up nice and early because today we have three changeovers to do um so i'm cracking on with the ironing first um as people are still in they probably believe about half past ten i'm gonna get all the ironing done get into my nice piles and then it'll be time to go and crack on the day and try and get all the changeovers done before 3 30 when all the guests arrive so we'll be um giving you kind of a rundown today of exactly what happens in a in a kind of day in the life of a grandfather's eye owner and um i hope you find it interesting so i'm still at it after um an hour and a bit but um yeah we're nearly there i'm just on the last set of sheets now um it's just a bit solder strong when you get up to the gear having folded it all up and put it in the car and it still looks creased so i'm dressed ready to go and while i'm waiting for everybody to leave i've printed out some vouchers um so we give every returning guest 15 off their next day so i'm just going to go and pop these in the kitchen and write them a little note to say thank you for coming so i usually leave them a little bit with a business book so that everybody then will hopefully so i've got about an hour now before guests leave so i'm probably going to sort out the bins i'm going to go and chat to everybody make sure they've had a lovely stay and see if you know they're all right basically um and then as soon as 10 30 hits and everyone's left it'll be go go go to get all the bedding on get the earth clean get the toilets clean um and get everything looking and spam ready for the next guest so every guest gets a freshly baked chocolate brownie when they arrive so i've got to get those quick in the oven because i need five six seven eight nine and 11 brownies today so let's chuck those in [Music] and then i will get them in the oven and they need time to cool before i can chop them up and get them in the tins ready for guests so best get cracking okay so i've got my cleaning kit already let's go in and start cleaning the blue ah they have been helpful guests and stripped of the beds for me which saves me quite a lot of time i'm gonna pick this up and get it out back into the car and then we're clean clean clean clean clean i'm doing georgia you wanna draw check out get rid of the slot i have had it before where it's been really windy and i've walked out the door and the wind's taken all the ash back into the head [Music] uh [Music] you're gonna chuck it outside then [Music] so we're at the moment in times of the virus so i've got my antiviral spray which i just basically spray everywhere so like on all the touch points all like around here on the wood burner door like i don't actually spray the light switch but i give the lights which i could rub down um all these type of points or the door handles um and then once i've had a good fogging then i will leave it for two minutes and then go and wipe all the surfaces down okay so gonna get the bedding on now all my lovely iron sheets which have been folded and put in the car and now not so lovely in ireland um so as i say it's just just one out on one child in here so not so many beds to do today [Music] okay so i've got to do the bins get rid of all the rubbish and then give it a good clean give the floor good clean just make sure everything in the cupboard is clean we're planning to see coffee and sugar bins water will do later and the bottom take that water into the car for me thank you sorry um annabel can you grab me one toilet roll please oh there's a wee in there [Music] [Applause] thank you just put it in there done excellent work my top number one uh helper slave is annabelle he will just run and get me stuff i need it's very useful i'm scrubbing poo off a toilet you can't make that look sexy it's not possible okay so bar brownies water and wood this is done so now let's move on to the [Music] dome [Music] so i've just done the kitchen and the toilet in the dome and now i'm starting on the excessive amount of grass in here um yeah the kids are gonna made themselves again with the travel pot to entertain entertained which is quite handy so nearly done with the dome we've just got one more bed to do a little bit more cleaning and then the dome is done we're going to go back down now it's help us 12 so we'll give everybody some lunch and then try to finish off the green yet so i want to have the green yet done by two so i can come up and do wood water and brownies in all three and then clean the showers okay the dome is now done so let's go down for some lunch so brown is out the oven that they've cooled and now i just need to chop them up and put them in the tins [Music] right so five in the green and then there's three in the dome it's quite a victim of three wise but and then two in the blue yeah it's ten to two i'm running behind the schedule right let's get these brownies out i still need to do the green yeah and let's go william we gotta go [Music] so there's two one child and two infants in here but we only need one trouble got i think so um i just want to have a bit of a rearrange of the furniture and see if i can fit in the trouble i normally put it over here so let's go and move this up amazing okay the yeah it's on apart from i'm missing a pillowcase um so now i'm going to quickly go and do the kitchen and they toil it and make sure we've got wood and brownies and water everywhere right yes all right that's it hold that end and then you two take that to the blue yeah that'd be brilliant thank you excellent work [Music] all right so i've just received a message ladies staying in the dome so they're 45 minutes away so um i'm just going to double check that everything's done in there haven't cleaned their shower room yet so i'm gonna whiz down and do that it is ten to three so um nearly everything's done i've just finished the green yet um and hopefully all be okay so i'm on toilet number four of the day so far um so i'm just getting this one ready because this is a dangerous one and they're arriving soon and then i'll go and do the other two in a bit but hopefully i can get all this done and that's that's the main thing everyone finally on my last seventh toilet of the day um so i'll be really glad this is all done i'll run over and get the bath mats in the towels and be ready to check in guests in about five minutes um slightly up against it i forgot to put the pillowcase in the sugar in the green yeah they're arriving at four but i've got people arriving in five minutes so i need to sprint and get the pillowcase when they arrive walk them up then nip and put the pillowcase on before i have to run down and check out the next before and hopefully it should all be right i'm just going to run on checking in like a couple of minutes so we didn't i can't get my words out we normally go and wait by the gate to make sure that we can show them around they know exactly where everything is take them up to their yet or dome and um yeah just give them peace of mind that they know what's going on basically so this is the kind of kind of shenanigans that goes on when we're checking in glampers and if i was going to be riding my bike around william's normally digging neither of them wear shoes um so we try and lose the kids just so we can give some kind of nice welcome when people arrive here they are gotta go okay don't guess it out in um and so we're now gonna nip down and what time is it now ten to four so we've got ten minutes until next guests arrive so all the guests are here we've made it in time everyone's happy everyone's settled and now it's time to go for my feet up we hope you enjoyed our day of behind the scenes of a typical changeover day if you liked what you saw please hit
