A day in the life of an ESMT MBA – Josh Pritchett, MBA 2019 | ESMT Berlin

Hey all, my name is Josh Pritchett. I'm from Nashville, Tennessee. I'm in the exciting city of Berlin for the full-time MBA program at ESMT. My day starts quiet early. I'm starting my day here with breakfast and soon I'm gonna take you in the day in the life of the MBA student. I live on the east side in a neighborhood called Friedrichshein. It's about 15 minutes away from class. Class starts at 9:00 a.m. sharp. So let's get going. I'm so lucky that ESMT is located in the heart of Berlin. Every morning I get to walk past iconic landmarks such as the Berliner Dome, the TV Tower and guess what? My school is right over there. Welcome to ESMT Berlin. It's an incredibly historic building and a beautiful one too. And as you can see Germany's top business school. People ask why I decided to go to school in Berlin. And although I wanted to get my MBA in Europe, I chose ESMT for its focus on innovation. I chose the innovation track. And being able to share that experience with my classmates and teachers from around the world is really what makes ESMT the leading school in management and technology. Alright, it's time to go to class. Welcome to class with me. This classes negotiations run by Martin. He is a leader in this industry. First we have a quick lecture and then we're gonna break off into study groups and do a real life negotiation case. It's great to hone our skills and become experts just like the professors. It's quite exciting. Here at ESMT there's a focus on teams. For our negotiation class we are simulating a real-life case of a football player, my agent, the CEO and trainer to try to negotiate the best deal possible. We spend a lot of time in these studies rooms, getting to know each other and doing real-life experiences. I typically grab a quick lunch in the cantine as it's a great way to get some good food and socialize with my fellow classmates and professors. They usually have a wide variety of options of food. What am I having today? Could have a salad. There's usually a German option on the menu. I usually like to hang out and socialize and get to know our classmates. We talk about school a lot but as well we talk about, you know, our different diversity backgrounds, what we do for fun, what we are learning here in Berlin. Now it's time to eat. See you later. We work hard at ESMT and many of my nights are spent here studying with my group and preparing for projects and cases. But this is Berlin. One of the most exciting cities in the world. You have to get out and live a little. There's millions of bars and restaurants close by and plenty of things to experience. So while you're here in Berlin, make sure you experience the nightlife and all the fun Berlin has to offer. Alright, that's it for me. Just a little bit more homework and I'm gonna be going to bed.
