A Day in the Life of a Software Engineer (A REALISTIC DAY)

[Music] foreign [Music] let me get my glasses time to wake up um usually I do not wake up this late I usually work the hours of nine to five but there is some flexibility so sometimes I'll work 9 30 to 5 30 and other times I'll work 10 to 6. it kind of just depends on the day if I have meetings in the morning then obviously I'll wake up and make sure that I'm on time for them my job is 100 remote which is awesome most of the time I work from home but I do have the option to go into the office it's not required to go into the office to work but sometimes I do go in because it's pretty fun I try to go in probably like once every couple weeks but lately it's been more like once a month [Music] and now it's time to have a really quick breakfast I'm just having some toast with some jam with my coffee today it's my turn to feed the dogs this morning my husband and I alternate who feeds them and who takes them on a walk it's a pretty good system and now it's time to start my work day usually how I start is I check my emails I try to get caught up on any notifications that we have in slack and I look at my to-do list and just make sure that I know what I'm going to be doing that day so that I'm totally prepared and then I start working on whatever project it is that I was working on the previous day just to get a little bit of work in before stand up depending on what time I actually get started usually I try to work between one to two hours before stand up which is at 10 45 and if you're not familiar with what a stand-up is usually it is a team meeting where you just talk about what you did the previous day and then what you're going to work on that day it's only 15 minutes so it's just like really quick recap of things and where you are and mentioning if you had any issues or blockers just so that your team is all on the same page [Music] hi dog hi again he's working too and now I'm back to work I usually work for another hour to an hour and a half until I get hungry and I'm ready for lunch and you may be wondering what exactly I'm working on but you know I can't really talk about it because you know I signed a bunch of things with my company I can't reveal any company code or any company Secrets but you know I am a developer so I am writing code editing code I'm doing code reviews that sort of thing you know sometimes I'm fixing bugs other times I'm working on new features it kind of just depends on what projects my team is working on and what tickets I pick up foreign [Music] want to eat lunch wanted to make something quick so I'm just gonna whip up some peanut sauce make some basic tofu I've got some rice from the night before since we always have cooked rice and I'm just gonna put the peanut sauce on the tofu and have some spinach on the side and it's going to be pretty delicious even if it's pretty simple and easy to make foreign [Music] after lunch at around 1pm I get right back to work I usually like to stand in the afternoon so I'm not sitting the entire day which is really bad for you so yeah so I am standing and working and usually sometimes in the afternoons I have meetings on this particular day I had a one hour meeting and then after that I just went right back to coding and working on whatever PRS I was working on previously all you dogs do is sleep all day foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] thank you [Music] walk we ate dinner I didn't take any videos of it because it really wasn't that exciting we just ate leftovers and then after dinner we just go on the couch and just kind of relax right now I'm actually like looking at houses right now and just cuddling with the dogs decompressing and everything we always have tennis on in the background so we're simultaneously watching tennis and doing stuff on our phones and on the computer the only other thing that we're gonna do in this day is play tennis play some tennis so we're gonna play Night tennis from like 8 to 10 p.m and then go home shower go to bed and then do it all the next day and that's all I have for you all that was my entire day thanks so much for watching and I'll see you in the next video bye [Music]
