A Day in My Van Life | Roadtripping to the Lost Coast of California

[Music] [Music] [Music] please hello my first time living in a van i figured i would do a little day in my life living in a van it's the first time i've ever done it shout out to people who do this for weeks and months if not years i'm a full newbie i've been doing a couple days um rented this van from the spot called craft in oceanside california and am making my way up the coast i'm currently traveling with [Music] welcome to the humble abode i will do a proper tour a little later first i gotta clean it up again a major respect for people who do this for a long time i'm a complete newbie so i figured i'd show my experience learning along the way the little ins and outs of living that van life this is during the pandemic quarantine pandemic so obviously i'm trying to be as safe as possible as respectful as possible and i did a lot of research before to make sure that this would be okay and when it comes to the spot we're sleeping at um there's an app called outlander which is extremely helpful because it shows you different spots with either official camping sites or informal camping sites where a lot of people go and because of the pandemic a lot of camping sites are clothes state parks are closed so options are a bit limited we found a beautiful spot there's a few other people who definitely slept here last night as well um this is point arena area so okay enough rambling time to start getting ready so in the fridge we massively stocked up at tj's because even though there is an oven and a stove i didn't really feel like cooking let's be real i'm not into cooking that i much the cuts from mush [Music] she said [Music] oh my oh my god [Music] get in the shot look at our cute van make a change i know we work for days losing hope [Music] [Music] we are in the beautiful quaint little town you mendocino if any of you guys out there from mendocino i'm jealous there's no way it's like a thousand people you never know he doesn't think anybody that will watch this video is from mendocino it is so cute so clean i feel like honestly i'm like on the set of a tv show it kind of doesn't feel real with just how whimsical everything is just a lot of like cute little cottages with gorgeous flowers and picket fences with the most incredible ocean views behind us before we head further north our goal for today is to get to the lost coast the lost it was called the west coast the lost coast the west coast you know yeah okay 10 out of 10 props the fletcher you pick the cute spots as much as it paints me to mix [Music] [Music] people which is pretty much the prettiest place in all of america so beautiful [Music] [Music] don't think you can blame us but we keep stopping on little scenic detours i feel like every 30 minutes or so the further we go i feel like it just keeps getting pretty and prettier now we're finally in the proper redwoods area of the north these trees are so big they make me feel so tiny which is hard because i'm a six foot human [Music] just ditched fletcher for a little bit i stood up there for most of the car ride because i don't want to leave him hanging because he's mostly driving because i'm a little apprehensive to drive this thing so it's like 19 feet long and i've never driven anything that long before i officially want to own one of these so badly it's two convictions in that way but that part [Music] we made it we made it after a very long drive through the forest that's windy roads my stomach kind of hurts we are at shelter cove coast california what is up let's check it out i feel good that there's a couple people here we found a spot we found a camping spot here in shelter cove at their rv and campground and we are officially sleeping along the last coast tonight it's kind of a no-nonsense camp which we much prefer it's not like crazy luxury but it's it's nice it's it's just i mean look at this we're on an airstrip so we can watch planes coming in and out in a cool way just like my dream that's the ocean and i think elena's already heard me say three times why the lost coast is unique and special one more time the last coast is unique and special because it's the longest stretch of undeveloped land in the state of california and i think but we will fact check later in our text the entire west coast but the point is pch follows pretty much mexico to canada along the coast this is a section where it dips out and the coast is just completely untamed except for a back-end back out road very windy very windy super barley road that takes you to this little town at the dead end of the road called shelter cove and that's why there's this airstrip here because it's so remote that people fly stuff in in terms of supplies and it's beautiful it's unbelievable i don't even care if you blow it up on youtube because none of you are gonna even come here oh is that i dare you [Music] we made it to the lost coast this is the furthest north we will be going on this trip and kind of the like middle ground day three stopping point about to have a little picnic post up absolutely incredible there's some people surfing here i feel like it's kind of like an iconic surf spot to make it here because it's just like it is a hike and a half to get here not exactly the easiest place but it's absolutely insane it's just like endless forests and cliffs meeting the ocean side as far as the eye can see it's it's unreal so it's a real oh you went in search of someone else and i hear your ship is coming in eot is a sea for me [Music] is [Music] [Applause] [Music] i'm a little picnic on
