today I want to look through the history of one of my favorite Animation Studios Pixar they've given us some of the best animated movies ever from Toy Story in 1995 to the elemental in 2023 Pixar has always been pushing the limits of animation and storytelling Pixar's journey is all about Innovation creativity and Deep Emotions their movies haven't just entertained us they've made us think feel and see the world differently to today I want to explore how Pixar has evolved over the years we'll look at their major Milestones the Cool Tech advancements they've made and the unforgettable characters they've brought to life how do you know if you're in love no idea anyone well you know when something your soul goes boom that's the simplest way I can say it Pixar's Journey Begins in the early 1980s when it was originally part of the Lucas film computer division it wasn't until 1986 when Steve Jobs purchased the division that Pixar was born as an independent company early on Pixar focused on producing computer hardware but their passion for storytelling quickly LED them to animation in 1986 Pixar produced its first short film Luxo junor introducing the iconic hopping lamp that would become the company's logo this short film was groundbreaking showing the potential of CGI in storytelling following this success they released several other notable shorts including tin toy which won an Academy Award for best animated short film in 1988 Pixar's Big Break came with a partnership with Disney leading to the production of Toy Story released in 1995 and directed by John Lasser Toy Story was the world's first featurelength film entirely created using CGI it was a Monumental achievement that changed the landscape of Animation forever buzz buzz liar you are now worried are you me no no no no no no no no large box it's it's are you Toy Story brought us into this amazing world where toys come to life when humans aren't around the film's success was not just about its technological innovation but also its heartwarming story and memorable characters like Woody and Buzz Lightyear it was a hit making over $360 million worldwide and grabbing several Academy Award nominations after the success of Toy Story Pixar kept raising the bar in 1998 they released A Bug's Life a visually stunning film that really showed off what CGI could do the film's colorful world of insects showed off Pixar's growing skill in creating detailed engaging environments then in 1999 Pixar released Toy Story 2 isn't this exciting he our first day of shooting oh yeah yeah it's so exciting you know I can't believe that you talk them into making A Bug's Life too yeah I can hardly believe it also but there's a little baby tiny thing I forgot to tell you m what's that he well you know it's a two movie but it's not A Bug's Life to well then what I I don't understand what is it then and action it was originally supposed to be a direct video release but it was so good that they decided to give it a theatrical release Toy Story 2 didn't just match the original success many fans and critics think it even surpassed it the sequel really deepened the character's relationships and expanded the universe further improving Pixar's reputation for excellence in animation and storytelling did you know during the production of Toy Story 2 someone accidentally ran a command that began deleting files from the movie's digital system the team soon discovered that their backup system had not been functioning correctly fortunately the movie was saved thanks to gayen susman a supervising technical director who was working from home due to her pregnancy and had a recent copy of the entire film on her personal computer this backup copy allowed Pixar to restore the deleted files and continue production with these early successes Pixar had firmly established itself as a leader in the animation industry their Innovative use of technology and commitment to compelling storytelling set the stage for what what many consider the Golden Age of Pixar so as we hit the New Millennium Pixar entered what many consider its golden age this era from the early 2000s to the end of the decade brought some of the Studio's most iconic and highly praised films in 2001 Pixar released Monsters Inc inviting audiences into the Whimsical world of monstropolis the story of two monsters Sully and Mike who discover a human child in their world the movie won over hearts with its unique concept and emotional depth the film showed Pixar's ability to blend humor with heartwarming moments a signature style that would become their trademark goodbye boo kitty kitty has to go then just just a couple of years later in 2003 they released Finding Nemo the film Was A Feast for the eyes and the Heart following Marlin and Dory on their underwater adventure to find Marlin's son Nemo it captivated audiences with its breathtaking animation compelling narrative and Unforgettable characters I remember it I do it's there I I know it is because when I look at you I can feel it and and I I look at you and I I'm home it became the highest grossing animated film at the time and won the Academy Award for best animated feature Pixar continued its streak of successes with The Incredibles in 2004 this film brought a new level of sophistication to animated storytelling focusing on a family of superheroes trying to balance their extraordinary abilities with everyday life The Incredibles was celebrated for its Dynamic action sequences Rich character devel velopment and thoughtful commentary on family and identity honey what where's my super suit what where is my super suit in three successive years Pixar captivated audiences with three memorable films first came cars in 2006 followed Lightning McQueen a race car as he learned life lessons in a small Route 66 Town following Cars Pixar returned with a bang in 2007 with Ratatouille the story of r a rat with culinary dreams in Paris really stood out for its animation humor and that inspiring message about following your passions anyone can cook but I realize only now do I truly understand what he meant not everyone can become a great artist but a great artist can come from anywhere no wonder it snagged an Oscar for best animated feature and still holds a special place in our hearts then in 2008 Pixar gave us Wall E this film was something else with its stunning visuals deep environmental themes and emotional depth it just swept audiences off their feet and of course it clinched that Academy Award for best animated feature Pixar's Golden Age hit its peak with up in 2009 kicking off with a moving almost silent Montage depicting a couple's life it remains one of the most impactful sequences in animation following Carl Frederickson and young Russell on a heartfelt adventure with five Academy Award nominations including best picture up took home the awards for best animated feature and best original score [Music] entering the second decade of the 21st century Pixar start a journey to explore the intricate tapestry of human emotions and cultural nuances this period shaped a new era of Storytelling for the studio characterized by a profound exploration of emotions traditions and existential questions that resonate deeply with audiences in 2015 they unveiled inside out an exploration of the human mind personifying emotions as characters the film navigates the complex ities of growing up through the Journey of an 11-year-old girl named Riley 2 years later in 2017 Pixar Enchanted viewers with KOCO celebrating Mexican culture during the DIA deos moros through Miguel's Journey the film explores family tradition and pursuing passions resonating deeply with audiences worldwide and earning critical Acclaim and another Academy Award for best animated feature it's the otheros muos no one's going anywhere tonight is about family and my personal favorite in 2020 Pixar delved into metaphysics with soul watching Joe Gardner's Journey Through The Great before really makes you stop and think about your own life and what you're passionate about I heard this story about a fish he swims up to this older fish and says I'm trying to find this thing they call the ocean the ocean says the older fish that's what you're in right now this says the young fish this is water what I want is the ocean and let's not forget the soundtrack it's like soul food for your ears and most recently in 2023 Pixar came out with elemental and it's just as amazing imagine a city where fire water land and air are all living beings the story centers around Ember a fiery and passionate girl and Wade a chill and easygoing guy they couldn't be more different but they find common ground and learn a lot about acceptance and discovering who they really are Elemental is fun colorful and has that classic Pixar touch that makes you feel all the feels it's definitely worth a watch while inside out two released today looking back at Pixar's Journey it's wild to see how far they've come it's pretty clear that their impact on animation and storytelling is huge starting from their early days as a computer hardware company to becoming a major player in global entertainment Pixar has always pushed the limits of creativity Innovation and emotion so what about you do you have a favorite Pixar movie maybe from the ones we haven't mentioned
