A 360° Tour of BP's Upstream Technology

this is Ahmed Hashmi chief digital and technology officer at BP upstream I'm at the offshore technology conference in the BP suite where we showcase our technologies interact with our partners and our customers in this suite today we are showcasing several of our recent technologies things like one map which is a application that allows us to mash up different forms of data whether it's for tracking whether it's for safety and we are able to serve this up lots of users in BP 14,000 users already and growing we also have our digital rocks technology our production optimization technology which is a digital twin of our production systems and the production system actually works as a twin of our facilities allowing our engineers to improve production on a daily basis last year it's added more than 19,000 barrels a day of production we also have several technologies that keep our people safe and out of harm's way things like wearables things like robot robotics and crawlers and drones that inspect our facilities for corrosion previously people would have to hang on ropes and do this now today we are using these devices as you can see this is a magnetic crawler that climbs up on the side of the platform and can take measurements we are also talking about the connected up stream which is VP's industrial Internet of Things this is about connecting our people with data building digital twins against which people analyze our assets and performance of those assets and then finally bringing much more business intelligence into rapid decision making as you can see from this world map this is technology that's deployed around the world and deployments are growing and finally on this wall we are showing our venture some of our venturing investments through VP ventures which is internal corporate venturing armed we have investments in companies that range from artificial intelligence to well work technologies to fiber optics technologies and the total of half a billion have been invested in these technologies over the last few years thank you very much I hope you found this mini tour of some interest for more information please connect with us on VP com
