[Laughter] [Music] Che Checkmate a Korean player born in 2001 is flex DPS of Florida Mayhem the champions of the 2023 OverWatch league in the last four years he has aced a total of $260,000 in prize money which is more than double my yearly salary he didn't actually start out using the name checkmate at the beginning of his career and originally went by the name ker Bros when you consider the meaning of the name Checkmate an absolute Victory with no Escape for the opponent I think it's a pretty good switch Checkmate is one of the few Korean Pro players that doesn't stream at all which has limited the amount of information you can find about him online so we actually have some exclusive information you can't find anywhere else from in-game sensitivity to peripherals so uh maybe that's worth a like And subscribe like mentioned previously Checkmate doesn't really stream he stated that he doesn't actually have any particular reason for not streaming and he just doesn't feel the need to so kudos for him for living his own life on the Korean Wikipedia for checkmate there's even incorrect items on there which most likely stemed from a lack of information on the player overall it says that he learned OverWatch from some Anonymous on a sleep Dart Master but Checkmate was pretty confused as to where this story even came from as far as in-game settings he keeps everything as a default excluding his sensitivity for his reticle he uses a small Crosshair of length six for his edpi Checkmate uses 1,000 DPI on a Logitech G Pro with an in-game sensitivity of 6.3 Checkmate is a player that considers per ruls to be pretty important for gaming which leads us to today's sponsor I wish though he has his default sensitivity set to 6.3 Checkmate actually has different sensitivity settings for specific Heroes on Genji he uses 7.8 Hanzo 6.1 and for hit scan DPS Heroes he uses 5.62 I honestly thought only some of the players from the earliest days of OverWatch use different Mass sensitivity settings but looks like we also have Checkmate to add on to that list it's honestly impressive to have four different sensitivity settings which I for one can barely aim with one though Checkmate is a flex DPS player he previously played tank in 2021 at the time yake was a starting DPS for the Florida mayam which made Checkmate The Substitute Flex DPS the team started utilizing him on tank and as a result left the most interesting most played hero statistic of the year with the top three Heroes being Arisa reinard and Ekko Checkmate provided some insight as to what was going on behind the scenes related to the temporary roll swap apparently it all started when he played main tank for an event match but impressed by checkmates performance the head coach suggested swapping roles entirely from Flex DPS to main tank at first Checkmate was pretty reluctant because he'd been playing Flex DPS for a long time now but as OG the main tank for Florida at the time needed a break from the pro scene due to personal reasons Checkmate took up the role for a short period of time and scrim results were surprisingly good after the swap but unfortunately Checkmate actually chose the worst moment of his professional career to be a charge mistake on Reinhardt during this time in Reverse for his best moment Checkmate chose a time from extremely early on in his career Pacific contenders was chech mate's first major tournament and he distinctly remembers when two of his allies were picked off but he managed to get a 6K completely reversing the flow of the match takes side angle wins a 1 V1 versus 50 he loses that one by the way he doesn't think going on a killing spree to get rid of everyone else him Staying Alive here on 188 HP avoid before he began his professional career in OverWatch Checkmate invested the majority of his time playing Minecraft in middle school he apparently ran a pretty large Minecraft server and by his own words he's a Minecraft Master maybe that's the reason he's so good on Hanzo that's all for today's video but we'll actually be interviewing zest and dhawk in the next few player Spotlight videos so if you have any questions for them feel free to ask in the comments below this is Crow and I'll be signing off
