while walking around the streets of Paris not everyone knows that beneath the capital lie massive tunnels filled with millions and millions of bones from entire generations stacked on top of each other with only a privileged few once allowed to go see them today parts of these tunnels are open to the public but many aren't so during our trip to Paris last month we wanted to see both now what few people know is that these tunnels not only explain why Paris is located where it is but also why the city of light look so unique see Paris was built on top of a rare and valuable type of cream grey and limestone starting to the 13th century tunnels and mines were built underneath Paris to extract the valuable stone to contribute to the construction of the city we all know today by the 17th century the 280 kilometers of tunnels were completely abandoned but by that time enough people had lived and died in Paris that it's cemeteries literally started to overflow so instead of having the city's smell like death Paris spent 12 years digging up 6 to 7 million skeletons and moving them into the Forgotten tunnels parts of these get that comb are open to the public but a lot of it is closed off since it's easy to get lost in this gigantic underground maze but despite the city's attempt to block it off small entrances only known by a few could still be found in darker parts of the city they get the feel of the community of urban explorers who know these tunnels like the back of their hands and lucky enough we have one coming with us today to take us around this abandoned maze that marks the origin of Paris one [Music] torez what are you wearing you should look you like you're going to like a like an art exhibition you won't push me in the water I saw the shoes walking mud amazing because nobody's didn't suspect anything really plague robbers people are tourists in different countries all this kind of like a tourist always you know was ratna's are you yeah yes so I have no idea and then you have like a you get 30 minute walk gets the beach no see you claustrophobic Luxor this is fun [Music] hey pretty it's pretty a cozy all right how did you get in there you go oh wow there's water here well we're about to get wet boys it's covered in water literally in the first second so I've been it gonna be soaked the entire way well is the only one that you brought spare boots looking jumping in the water my feet are wet no no no way hopefully we don't get lost because then we are absolutely literally just endless tunnels under the city of Paris [Music] oh my god there are some places where you can actually swim in the tunnels there's even one place called the pool because like just keep and go there to swim I guess we're probably gonna avoid those today though oh my god it's wild that this whole labyrinth is underground yeah chef's jail applause okay so we're going to a place called the beach I pledge that's we're gonna have dinner together I know it's never left you here a film Paul may have Jing like like economics for it's pretty accelerating that little guy back here and we're trying to finish assuage holds basically and just pop out the city so where we going movie room and people watch movies in there yes I have to go in there I can't believe you guys make it a living out of this so apparently they watch movies here like some guys will bring down projectors and just set a good movie on this wall just sit on these seats [Music] where I got these scars my father was drinker and a fiend so yes my crazy guys have promised it's just insane Co fiction next to like et combined with the Joker I mean we're cavemen left their imprint yeah it's kind of visiting the modern version of that act the candle here Pavelec just 10 minutes ago and came back and is gone somebody cared he's a guy creeping around here dude is scared out of me alright let's get out of here well I'm bit afraid you know it's like typical scenario of the whole movie where the last guy back it's attacked first so he ran to this random guy in the middle of these tunnels and he's singing he's got another exit for us that we should follow him if this guy dips or somehow like turns on us just be there [Music] we're about to climb through a very thin tunnel once again well it appears that we're lost the guide is here back we're going in circles past like tender but we're about to go new deep again this is legit out of a Jenny Jones review flick or let's uncover a treasure or something alright ladies and gentlemen welcome to Thomas and baller explorations the deep inside of the Parisian tenants Berger knows alright we're back on track we passed this guy before so I guess it was a blessing in the end to have this dude here after three hours spent on the ground and generous cat that field showed us a secret exit from a huge hole in the middle of Paris gas does not deform or exit since cops are cracking down on these entrances but at least will truly be able to say that we explore the city of Paris like only a privileged few who had the chance to do before us this awesome [Music] [Music]
