this is the lock-picking lawyer and what i have for you today is a Rifkin safety sack with the arco lock 7 zipper locking mechanism these bags used to be a lot more common many years ago before ATM bank deposits and near-universal credit card use that's because the most common use for these was night bank deposits when a business would go to their local bank to make night deposit arrangements they'd be assigned one or more bag just like this one from the now-defunct see first Bank they would also be given a key to the night deposit slot in the exterior wall of the bank which would feed directly into a safe the bank customer could then deposit cash in a secure location at night or over the weekends the lock on the bag served as a reusable tamper seal enabling a business to send an employee to make the deposit with less fear of skimming on the bank end of things these would be opened in front of no less than two people and usually on video to ensure the integrity of the deposit now because of how this system worked I suspect these bags were usually master keyed so customers didn't share keys and the bank didn't need dozens of keys to process its deposits every morning in any case let's see what it takes to pick this open now as the name Arco lock 7 suggests this is a 7 pin lock so hopefully it'll put up a little bit of a fight I'm using top of the key way tension with a 40,000 Spri bar and I'm using a standard hook in 18,000 s1 is loose so is 2 3 4 5 6 is binding got a little click out of him 7 is binding got a click out of him back to the beginning nothing on 1 2 3 actually feels set 4 is binding got a click out of him I think I got a little click out of 5 nothing on 6 or 7 should just be one in two left there we go 2 is binding got a click there let's check one yeah okay so we got it open and when we turn the core this portion of the mechanism pops up and that releases the zipper from the little recess which holds it in place while it's locked so as you saw this wasn't that difficult to open despite the presence of seven pins there were no security pins in here the key way wasn't too tricky and the tolerances were relatively unimpressive these factors are almost always going to result in an easy pick so while this is a cloth bag something on which an overly complex mechanism would probably be wasted we also shouldn't lose sight of the fact that this lock is essentially a reusable tamper seal so a higher level of pick resistance is probably needed and that's just not present here so that's all I have for you today on this rifken bank deposit bag if you have any questions or comments about it please put them below if you like this video and would like to see more like it please subscribe and as always have a nice day thank you
